Eldergays: Tell Us About Jeffrey Hunter

In the 'Star Trek: Discovery' thread, talk of the delicious Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike naturally called to mind the original sexy Captain Pike, Jeffrey Hunter. I only know him from Star Trek. Tell us more about this blue eyed beauty.

You don’t need to be an elder gay to see how hot he was.

by Anonymousreply 2April 26, 2019 11:58 AM

Surprise anal!

Hottest tooshie in all of Trek, and that's a fact.

His nips would have their own thread on DL if he were an actor today.

CAPTAIN PIKE, dumbass!!

by Anonymousreply 7April 26, 2019 12:04 PM

He looks a little like Kip Winger to me in the pic above @ r4.

by Anonymousreply 8April 26, 2019 12:23 PM

In Tab's book he claims that once he and Jeff were both in Europe to make films and, as a joke, switched roles, figuring no one would know the difference. And no one did.

Just three months before he died, he married "General Hospital" star Emily McLaughlin (Jessie Brewer) who was the show's leading lady at the time.

He died quite young, as result of a head injury. He'd also had a bad concussion previously from an on-set accident.

Played a few blue eyed native Americans and he was Jesus!

by Anonymousreply 11April 26, 2019 12:36 PM

He was gorgeous!

by Anonymousreply 12April 26, 2019 12:44 PM

Imagine the SJW outrage if a blue-eyed Anglo-Saxon got cast as Jesus today.

his first wife was actress Barbara Rush. They lived on the beach in santa monica next door to Peter and Pat Lawford. His second wife was Joan Bartlett and if I remember reading correctly was something of a bitch and gave her husband career advsie which he took, which somewhat tanked his career. I think as he neared middle age, Jeff sank into alcoholism.....functional alcoholism, however/and it hadnt impacted his looks to the point he couldnt get acting gigs.

I used to get him mixed up with Jeff Chandler. Or sometimes Jeffrey Hayden (Mr. Eva Marie Saint.)

by Anonymousreply 15April 26, 2019 9:03 PM

Wow, what a looks imbalance that is, R10!

by Anonymousreply 16April 26, 2019 10:07 PM

I'm sure little RJ Wagner tried to have his way with him.

I wonder if Jeffrey regretted missing out on Star Trek. (Not that he would have lived long enough to really reap the rewards.)

by Anonymousreply 20April 26, 2019 11:11 PM

When he played the Lord, one critic referred to the film as "I was a Teenage Jesus". He was not a great actor. Just pretty.

Barbara Rush (still alive but ancient) was a pretty good actress but basically a second stringer who failed to get a series (she did a pilot for a Donna Reed knockoff) and a couple other unsold pilots. Her daughter works for Fox!

Look at Nurse Jessie getting that hot piece. Take that Dr. Steve.

by Anonymousreply 22April 27, 2019 4:01 AM

Barbara Rush played an anti-Miss Ellie character on Flamingo Road, I think even with a slant to alcoholism.

Hunter was extremely handsome but got married a lot in his short life. Was he a pussy hound? Maybe I am just over dramatizing this aspect. Hollywood actors got divorced left and right even when it wasn't common yet, like in the fifties.

by Anonymousreply 23April 27, 2019 1:15 PM

Back in those days living together was such a taboo, that's why all those classic Hollywood actors and actresses kept getting married and divorced every five minutes. Can you think of a modern actor or actress who's been married four or five times?

by Anonymousreply 24April 27, 2019 1:23 PM

Didn’t Emily McLaughlin also sink into chronic alcoholism? I recall seeing the covers of soap opera magazines back in the 1970s where she was always sick and ailing.

by Anonymousreply 25April 27, 2019 1:29 PM

Was McLaughlin the mother of porn star Matt Sizemore? I seem to recall he was some soap actress' kid. For some reason General Hospital stands out in ememory.
