Their brains are broken for paying so much for a stupid phone in the first place.

The product was rushed to manufacture without testing everyday usage. The other foldable from Motorola, the Raxr, is suddenly looking a lot better!

I think that thing looks even worse.

Too bad. I so want a foldable/flip smart phone. My old Samsungs never broke despite being dropped.

by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 18, 2019 12:43 PM |
Apparently Samsung is still pushing ahead with the release in a month. If this is the hill they want to die on...
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 18, 2019 12:57 PM |
So few people bought that crap, it might not make a big difference. Not like they had a million pre-orders. Probably sold a few thousand.

My Samsung phones have held up really well. Having said that, with the Note battery debacle and now this story--does Samsung not test their products rigorously before release? You would think they folded and unfolded the phone a million times during testing.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 18, 2019 1:41 PM |
A phone that is designed around Caitlyn Jenner's crotch is probably a mistake.

What is so special about this folding phone? My Nintendo DS does the same thing.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 19, 2019 1:04 AM |
They wouldn't allow any of the reviewers to drop-test the test units. Considering how much damage everyone commented on just from daily use, there's no way that thing wouldn't have cracked like an egg with extreme stress.
Say what you will about Apple, but my iPhone X has held up remarkably well, and I'm a huge klutz.

What’s the issue in R25. Not sure what I’m looking at.

Once they actually figure out foldable glass, this kind of thing will be much better.
I miss being able to snap a phone closed. I could see myself getting one of the new Razrs just to be able to dramatically hang-up and flounce off.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 22, 2019 1:35 PM |
2,000 dollars just to flounce off.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 22, 2019 1:54 PM |
R27, the screen is supposed to remain creaseless in the middle.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 22, 2019 1:55 PM |
Know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run...

Samsung's pussy stinks...Oh, wait. I mean this thing stinks!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 22, 2019 3:11 PM |
I still have my Galaxy Note 3, which has held up perfectly for 5 year now. That said, this phone looked like a mess from the get go. Once the novelty of a folding screen wears off, you're just stuck with a bulky phone that will constantly need charging after an hour or so of using. The crease in the screen is incredibly noticeable and distracting. They should have instead focused on creating a phone that has unprecedented battery life.
This is as bad as the Red Hydrogen One, or the Palm companion.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 22, 2019 7:00 PM |
Still love my S9+. I'll interested in a big ol' folding phone in a few years when the tech has improved.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 22, 2019 7:01 PM |
Everyone rags on Apple iPhone for including new technology later than everyone else, but the delay allows Apple to get it right
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 22, 2019 7:03 PM |
Yeah, that crease is hella distracting.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 22, 2019 7:06 PM |
But I thought the planned obsolescence scheme of expecting tech addicts to replace immediately their $2000 phones was Samsung's ace revenue model.
The crease in the middle reminds me of Steve Martin's movie "The Jerk" (1979), Navin Johnson's "bridge clip" for eyeglasses to keep them from falling off, making Carl Reiner cross-eyed.

I’ve dropped my iPhone a million times. Onto a tile floor, onto the concrete in the garage, even off a ladder into a wood floor. That one made me cringe but it was ok. Off the bed onto tile. Pretty much drop it every week one way or another. Or fall asleep on top of it.
Never a crack. Never breaks. I have it in a clear Otterbox because I drop it so much. The one before was on a job site and it was getting dropped on concrete all the time. No problem.
How could they think a phone that breaks so easily would be ok? People carry their phones everywhere. Didn’t they test it, or did they know it was defective but wanted to get it out by a deadline and figured it would just be ok somehow? They’re too expensive for people to put up with their phone out of commission. People have their whole lives on their phone.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 22, 2019 7:56 PM |
I’m also a fan of the Otterbox. I use my iPhone for work and it would have shattered by now without it.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 22, 2019 8:05 PM |
R41, that's not normal. You need to book an appointment with a good neurologist.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 22, 2019 9:09 PM |
What is this crease everyone’s talking about? Do you have a pic?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 22, 2019 11:15 PM |
Casey Neistat did a pretty good rundown of the phone, including the crease.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 22, 2019 11:51 PM |
I wonder how many people were dumb enough--esp if they have a big ol' ass--to put this in their back pocket and then sit in a chair.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 22, 2019 11:55 PM |
I also have an iPhone and an Otterbox.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 22, 2019 11:55 PM |
R45, I’m not seeing a crease there.

by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 22, 2019 11:59 PM |
Where is the crease in that picture? Are you talking about where the phone bends? Isn’t it supposed to bend like that?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 23, 2019 12:03 AM |
It’s supposed to bend but the screen shouldn’t have a line down the middle. And if it does then it defeats the whole idea of you having a tablet in your pocket as it disrupts content flow when unfolded. You’re not supposed to feel like you’re looking at two miniature screens glued together.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 23, 2019 12:09 AM |
R43, I have carpel tunnel so actually it is pretty normal. People with carpel tunnel often drop things. And I’ve always been a horrible klutz and bump into everything, since I was a kid.

Send your broken Folds to me and I'll eat them. Thanks.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | April 23, 2019 12:24 AM |
This phone is ridiculous. I don’t want to carry something around that I have to fold up, or open.
For 2K you can buy an iPhone & an iPad.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | April 23, 2019 12:27 AM |
I have to say, r56, that I like the idea of a foldable phone. I love my iPad mini, but I can’t put it in my pocket. Apple will eventually steal this idea and perfect the technology.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | April 23, 2019 12:32 AM |
It’s not ridiculous. It’s the future of mobile computing (or at least a part of it). Only Samsung tried to force the future on us now when the technology isn’t. This thing is nothing more than a half baked prototype, and every phone maker including Apple has these hidden away in engineering labs right now. They just weren’t foolish enough to release an unfinished product.

First of all who pays two grand for a phone like the Samsung folder? You gotta have shit for brains if you do. Just gimme a standard mobile phone. It's all I need.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | April 23, 2019 2:41 AM |
I think Samsung phones usually last longer than iPhones. I've dropped my samsung many times and the screen has never cracked. My friends with iphones all have cracked screens. However, a $2000 phone is just insane.

They still seem to be acting like they're going to get it all fixed in a few months and then everything will be hunky-dory.
Even if they can solve the problems where little tiny things don't damage the screen, they're a lot farther off being able to protect it from more extreme accidents. Even a case would make that thing incredibly bulky.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | April 23, 2019 3:56 PM |
I'm still laughing at all the Youtube reviewers who were getting paid to unbox and rave over this phone.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | April 23, 2019 4:44 PM |
R70 here, just wanted to elaborate - one guy, who's Youtube channel I won't even mention, had like 20 of them in every style and color. It's beyond obvious he didn't drop that cash to "review" the phone(s).
by Anonymous | reply 71 | April 23, 2019 4:49 PM |
I don't think anyone's assuming these YouTubers paid for the product. Samsung sent influencers their device so they could review it. It's like sending press to a screening.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | April 23, 2019 4:50 PM |
I don't think any of the reviewers bought their units. Most of the ones I saw had disclaimers that Samsung have loaned them out. That's why they weren't allowed to stress test them.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | April 23, 2019 4:50 PM |
The hype of the phone also helped those reviewers get millions of ad views so I don’t think they care that it’s vaporware.
