Hon, if you were mentally ill enough to be put into a psych ward, that guy had probably been feeling like a parent to you (at BEST), for a really long time not a lover. Or, if he hadn't already broken up with you before you were institutionalized, he had wanted to break it off for a long time. You can't go backwards from either of those positions, to being in love and sexually attracted to a person. The flipped switch is a permanent one.

Hopefully, you're still going to some form of therapy and taking medication for your issues. Talk to your psychiatrist and get help to move on. Work on being mentally healthy, living in the 'now' and finding someone new.
