Politico Expose: Elizabeth Warren’s Life As A Diehard Republican
by Anonymous | reply 60 | April 19, 2019 4:41 PM |
She found out she can exploit people on the left by saying buzz words and "I am with YOU!" Don't be fooled by candidates, DO YOUR RESEARCH!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 12, 2019 7:31 PM |
I never understand people like Liz Warren and Cenk Uygur who went from Republican to as far to the left on the Democrat side as possible
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 12, 2019 7:33 PM |
Republicans and Libertarians infiltrating the Democrats has been going on since the Southern Strategy went into effect.
The Libertarians have also been infiltrating the Republicans as well.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 12, 2019 7:33 PM |
R2 The further on the right or left people are, the more easily they are swayed by hearing what they want to. Simple as that. Fanatics are easy to please.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 12, 2019 7:34 PM |
That Elizabeth Warren used to be a Republican is something she talks about all the damn time. This is dumb.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 12, 2019 7:37 PM |
Did any of you even read the article?
"It wasn’t until Warren was recruited onto a federal commission to help reform the bankruptcy code in the mid-1990s—and then fought for those reforms and lost that battle in 2005—that she became the unapologetic partisan brawler she was in creating the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, serving in the Senate and, now, stumping on the 2020 campaign trail. “I realize nonpartisan just isn’t working,” she recalls of that second conversion moment. “By then it’s clear: The only allies I have are in the Democratic Party, and it’s not even the majority of Democrats.”
Some friends and colleagues say Warren became radicalized, equating her change to a religious experience, to being born again. “She really did have a ‘Road to Damascus’ conversion when she saw the bankrupt consumers really were suffering—forced into bankruptcy by illness, firing or divorce—and not predators..."
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 12, 2019 7:38 PM |
Democrats similarly infiltrated the Republican party starting in the 60s and 70s. Socially liberal but militarily hawkish, they came to define the Neoconservative wing of the Republican party.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 12, 2019 7:38 PM |
And Giuliani and Reagan were Democrats. Politico is no better than the Daily Mail.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 12, 2019 7:38 PM |
it is kind of odd that someone goes from being a Oklahoma Republican to a Massachusetts Democrat
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 12, 2019 7:43 PM |
No it is not R9.
The Dems and Rethugs have changed. Remember Southern Democrats?
Ronnie brought them into he Republican party and ruined it. There are many examples of this kind of thing.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 12, 2019 7:53 PM |
I’ve done a 180 on a few things, too.
And I can’t stand this woman.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 12, 2019 7:59 PM |
I've noticed a trend recently of some 2020 Democrat candidates completely flip their positions on issues just after a few weeks. It really doesn't say much for their conviction that they so freely pander to certain groups
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 12, 2019 8:01 PM |
She is an Indian giver.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 12, 2019 8:01 PM |
Those 'born again' into any idea or system are the biggest zealots.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 12, 2019 8:01 PM |
Was this before or after she was Pocahontas?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 12, 2019 8:02 PM |
I used to be a republican too (my parents were), until GWB was elected. I was 13 yrs old when Reagan was elected and wasn't interested enough in politics throughout Clinton's presidency. I didn't vote during his terms. But when I saw how fucking insane the republicans were during the monica lewinsky scandal, I woke up and realized I wasn't a republican and that they really don't care about anyone but the upper 5% of this country
To explain my parents being republican, welfare was out of control in the 1970's. There were generations of families that had never worked and didn't ever plan to work. They were mostly minorities. That's back when white people still had a work ethic. Now they don't and they are the worst abusers of welfare and other government programs. Their spawn have ruined the country. If you weren't alive in the 1970's, you really can't speak to this matter. Republicans back in the 20th century were nothing like they are now. Now, every single one of them is disgusting and immoral. And I know there are "decent" people who are still republican and hate trump, but they have to have a special kind of stupidity to still be republicans. You don't have to become a democrat, but to still be a member of the republican party, what they have become and everything they stand for, means there is something wrong with you mentally or you are just a spineless piece of shit who is afraid to be an Independent voter. That's almost worse than being a republican. If you don't stand for something, you stand for nothing. That makes you a fucking loser. Hitler happened because of people like this. He and his atrocities wouldn't have been possible without people idly standing by and doing/saying nothing
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 12, 2019 8:03 PM |
Um, maybe OP hasn't seen her extensive current policy proposals on the wealth tax, housing, education, etc. etc.? All of them are solidly grounded and none of them is remotely conservative. She has written entire books backing up her policy positions, and she's pushed through her ideas (like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) to get them passed into law. I couldn't care less how she was voting 30 years ago.
I currently support her over any of the other Democratic candidates.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 12, 2019 8:04 PM |
Is the intelligence level here very low, or is it that the dumbest people post more frequently? What's wrong with someone coming to understand the error of their ways and ideas? Are people not allowed to live life and evolve over time? If that's the case, what's the point of ever having any discourse at all?
Some of you just suck.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 12, 2019 8:13 PM |
Well it's a good thing the decades old Elizabeth no longer exists and isn't running for president.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 12, 2019 8:25 PM |
I already strongly support her, but this was an interesting read.
She was a real Reagan, free-market Republican academic who thought most bankruptcies were gaming the system. Then she explored the actual filers across the country and couldn't ignore the data that came back. She learned that people were barely hanging on due to stagnant wages, under insurance, and a host of real blue-collar economic issues that led to filing bankruptcy. She also realized the Republicans held no good answer and were only interested in bringing as many workers down as possible while increasing corporate profits.
I will vote for any Dem who wins, but I want Warren. Read up on her a little if you haven't. Her combination of intelligence, sincerity, outreach, fight, and WYSIWYG won me over. I am really glad we have a whole rainbow of people running for the nomination.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 12, 2019 8:42 PM |
I am really glad we have a whole rainbow of people running for the nomination.
—Anonymous reply 20
Don't get TOO excited about that.
The Republicans practically ran a Senate full of candidates last election, and look at what we got....
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 12, 2019 8:45 PM |
This is utterly ridiculous; a person can change his or her mind and evolve. I think Elizabeth Warren is very intelligent, she has a strong sense of right and wrong and has superb ideas. She would be an excellent President.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 12, 2019 9:46 PM |
So we're supposed to FEEL BAD giving credence to Elizabeth W's passionate Liberal stances when literally the Loons on the Right have swallowed hook, line and sinker Trump's Contrition act that a Multiple Philanderer, Pussy-Grabber, many-times Bankrupt, Casino owner, is now the Epitome Of Evangelical Moral Bastion, Defender of Women's Virtue, Billionaire Genius and Follower of All Ten Commandments. * Giggle*
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 12, 2019 9:50 PM |
Elizabeth Warren's positions on reparations and illegal aliens alone are helping the Republicans, not Democrats, for the 2020 election.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 12, 2019 9:52 PM |
That piece made her look good if you ask me.
It takes courage that’s lacking everywhere these days to be open-minded, think critically, and change course to something more honorable.
I will now take her more seriously than I did before.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 13, 2019 9:57 PM |
And Trump was a Democrat, what's your point?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 13, 2019 10:33 PM |
There was a time before Regan when a Republican wasn't a Holy Roller racist.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 13, 2019 10:45 PM |
R20 you're right. And someone who genuinely chooses to change is particularly admirable. She's the real deal. However, I don't think she'd have a strong chance against trump (a woman and too left). I also know some liberals who, mystifyingly, don't care for her, in contrast to most other candidates.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 13, 2019 11:03 PM |
OP, thank you for bringing this inspiring article to my attention!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 13, 2019 11:13 PM |
Political Exposé: Trump was a registered Democrat till age 65.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 13, 2019 11:16 PM |
R28, I’m one of those people.
People don’t like it when you don’t blindly support a candidate based on party alone.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 14, 2019 2:48 AM |
She was pretty. I can see the Native American in her face.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 15, 2019 1:39 AM |
What percentage Democrat is she?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 15, 2019 6:51 PM |
R2/R12: It's Democratic. SPEAK ENGLISH!!
R12: No one has flipped positions, troll. Shut the fuck up and only speak when spoken to.
I'm with her since she declared and I'm going all the way with her to the White House.
TROLL. THREAD. CLOSED!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 15, 2019 7:09 PM |
Thread closed, R35. Notice how progressives can't stand any dissent.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 15, 2019 7:10 PM |
Reaganomics turned her off. If you read the article. It's not an expose. It was always about economics that she was conservative on. The free market she supported. She found out that it didn't work and did an about face.
It's actually pro Liz.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 16, 2019 1:57 AM |
r9, if you read the piece Oklahoma was solid blue when she grew up there.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 16, 2019 1:59 AM |
Go Lizzie Go! All the way to the White House!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 16, 2019 2:05 AM |
People grow and change. Warren, Harris, Mayor Pete are people who seem to frighten the republicans. Heck, Swalwells been getting death threats. And the kind-hearted Jay Inslee, his twitter feed is filled with 4chan trolls.
All of these people are far more qualified than the failed reality tv host in the WH.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 16, 2019 2:06 AM |
I took the same journey, and switched about the same time. I was a die hard Reagan Republican from 1980 until 2003. So, it took me longer. I thought the party could be saved, but it can't. I can understand her giving up in 1996. That's when it really hit the fan with both the "Contract with America", the vehement anti-gay policies and the unrelenting hostility towards African Americans really started.
Rush Limbaugh really drove home what they cared about two years later with his "He Lies Under Oath" mantra and it never started. It was the rise of the McLuhan's the Medium is the Message, and the Medium became Government. Now Fox is Government. Fox News which is owned by an Australian family that bought its citizenship with a "donation" to the GOP after a private meeting with Reagan. Fox News which is at least 7% owned by Saudi Royal Prince bin Talal.
It's not just the Russians who've hijacked the Republicans. It's anybody with a few million bucks - and offshore banks.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 16, 2019 3:23 AM |
People's views change. No reason this is any more shocking than anyone else having a change of heart (or logic) on a political stance.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 16, 2019 2:40 PM |
I have a feeling OP is a Trumptard troll.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 16, 2019 2:45 PM |
I don't really have a huge problem with someone her age identifying as Republican, not when the Repub she grew up with was Eisenhower. He was criticized for being beholden to millionaires, but compared to Repubs from Nixon to the current day, he was practically a Democrat.
And it wasn't that long ago that we still had old Southern Democrats in our own party, holdovers from a time when being a Dem didn't mean you were a liberal.
Politics are fluid. OP sounds like one of those dimwits who says the Democrats of today are responsible for slavery and the proof is that HRC "owned slaves" in Arkansas.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 16, 2019 2:47 PM |
[R9], if you read the piece Oklahoma was solid blue when she grew up there.
A lot of people went from being Oklahoma Republicans to Louisiana Republicans, and then, finally, to Texas Republicans.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 16, 2019 2:52 PM |
Mike Synar was a huge loss for Oklahoma. A lovely guy in every way, who unfortunately died young.

[quote]“She really did have a ‘Road to Damascus’ conversion when she saw the bankrupt consumers really were suffering—forced into bankruptcy by illness, firing or divorce—and not predators..."
The 'Trail of Tears' conversion in which she went from Proud Cherokee to Whiter Than Most White People would come years later.,
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 16, 2019 3:48 PM |
What a pointless post. I suspect a Russian bot wannabe. Do try harder!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 16, 2019 3:53 PM |
That she was a corporate attorney is why I don't like her. She always comes off as aloof and disingenuous.....Wishy Washy Warren
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 16, 2019 3:54 PM |
She has all the appeal of mayonnaise on white bread. You actually need some personality to win a national election. She's fine where she is and needs to stay put.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 16, 2019 3:55 PM |
If Warren is really a five-civilized-tribe descendant as she claims, her ancestors must have grabbed onto white privilege the moment they started passing as caucasian. “Pow Wow Chow?” Warren IS whiter-than-white, and I would not be surprised if her “Cherokee” family aligned with confederates and held slaves at one time.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 16, 2019 4:18 PM |
I think she'd be a good Pres but I don't think she can beat Trump. The issue of whether a candidate would be a good Pres is moot unless the candidate can win the general election.
So vote for Biden because he can win, plus a young VP who'd make a good Pres (Pete) whenever he succeeds Biden. Warren's too old for that VP role and should stay in the Senate where she can do some good.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 16, 2019 4:19 PM |
Warren's problem is that she converted to the party of people who will get you fired for wearing a feathered headdress to a costume party. It's quite a comedown for Harvard's former First Native American Professor of Law to suddenly have to apologize for eating corn muffins and tortillas.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 16, 2019 4:30 PM |
Keep the embedded lies rolling, R53. Good job.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | April 16, 2019 7:58 PM |
Warren is Hillary 2.0. A policy wonk you don’t want to have a beer with.
Bill Clinton was a policy wonk you do want to have a beer with, so it can be done.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | April 16, 2019 8:08 PM |
Whenever I hear the phrase 'policy wonk' I know whoever it's describing is a rank asshole without empathy.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | April 16, 2019 8:12 PM |
OP can only analyze the GOP through the lens of the current GOP, not history. And someone's personal evolution over time means nothing. Limited.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | April 16, 2019 8:21 PM |
You know that there are a lot of FORMER Diehard Republicans as Independents who just want a reason not to vote for Trump. You would be surprise to see how many voters out there get it.
I actually respect her more for shedding previous ideology when she recognized it was wrong.
Go Elizabeth.
