Atlanta high school teacher guns down boyfriend, then dies in police chase
DUNWOODY, Ga. — The man found shot to death in the parking garage of a Dunwoody apartment complex was reportedly killed by his former lover and had filed a police report against the man just three days before his death.
James Curtis Jones, 45, was found shot to death at the Arrive Perimeter apartment complex on Asbury Square early Monday morning after numerous people reported hearing screaming and gunshots around 5:20 a.m. The gunman has been identified as Roy McClendon-Thompson, a social studies teacher at McNair High School in DeKalb County. He was also a member of the Principal Advisory Council at the high school, according to the district website.
Jones told the officer that McClendon-Thomas was “mental” and that he was scared he would come to his home. He told police he met McClendon-Thomas through a gay dating website, called Jack’d. Jones said he knew the high school teacher for about a year and stated that they never had sex and never lived together.
The officer called McClendon-Thomas, who said he discovered Jones was cheating after a friend showed him Jones’ picture on “Jack’d.” McClendon-Thomas said he found out the two men had sex and told police that he broke up with Jones and blocked him from his phone.

MESS. So many questions:
a) Isn't referring to a person's same-sex partner as their "lover" offensive now?
b) Why is a TV station still using the "11 Alive" branding? A lot of experimentation went down in the '70s, but why has that survived?
c) Why teach kids if you're such a messy mess, gay or straight?
d) What is the news value in recounting every bit of this mess? Excerpts:

Someone on Sandra Rose's site says the real name of the shooting victim was Michael Maze. Apparently they were trying to keep his true identity from the public because he was an important figure in Atlanta's public schools system. They both seemed to have a lot in common, so I suspect they were taking this relationship pretty seriously. Until one of them didn't. Very sad indeed.

That Michael Maze guy died over spring break, before James Curtis Jones did. Looks like announcements went up before this murder happened, too.
Any actual reason to believe he's James Curtis Jones or is it just another case of people wanting a conspiracy theory so badly they'll invent one?

Here's the article implying Maze died over spring break and just wasn't found until Monday.
Also, his address wasn't in Dunwoody, the best I can tell.
No idea why the police would agree to using a fake name, anyway.

Roy McClendon-Thompson was in big trouble with the law before the killing. He was arrested 3 weeks ago, accused of stealing 100 G's from a church.
