The civil rights movement is the reason he was able to get married, not identity politics. There's a difference.

R46 is right. The two are very different. The civil rights movement is based on universal principles and the rule of law. It was an interpretation of the Constitution that got us gay married. Intersectionality combined with identity politics is basically Marxism, it is divisive and will ultimately be rejected. It may also set us back as gay people. It is already hurting women. They are different intellectual traditions.
