Admit it...you cried too this morning
After 11 memorable years hosting the Today Show, Kathie Lee Gifford said goodbye in an emotional farewell.
Joined on the studio stage by fellow co-hosts Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush, Willie Geist, Carson Daly, Willie Geist, Craig Melvin, and Al Roker, the entire crew appropriately shared a glass of champagne while the studio audience stood and applauded.
Gifford quoted from the Bible, Jeremiah 29:11, in her final send-off, saying “‘I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.'”
“That’s not just true for me, you guys, that’s true for everybody watching. Trust Him. Let him love you like he wants to love you. Like I’m loved by all of you.”

Meanwhile, the look on Jenna Bush’s face (channeling her grandma Babs) reads “ cunt, hurry up and get the fuck out of MY seat”.

PLEASE tell me she's not going to try writing another musical. I can't take it. I just can't.

That saggy side-boob in the screen grab of the video of OP’s is the stuff of nightmares!

Well, she's still young enough to wear sleeveless dresses, so she must have many years left to try a different career. Right?

I thought she had died long ago.

Isn't she leaving just because she got an offer to make more money elsewhere? So what's to cry about? She choose money over staying on tv, big deal.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 5, 2019 5:56 PM

Didn't she leave Regis to explore her passion for writing shitty musicals? And she wound up back...

I don't understand her appeal. She's a drunk. She's an idiot. Her music is shit. And she constantly plugs Jesus.

She is a genuinely nice lady who is going through a tough time after losing her husband. Everybody she works with her iss Younger and raising babies and the gap is very uncomfortable for her. I say good luck to her with whatever she tries next.

She takes a lot of nasty incoming here but she’s actually one of the nicest, most fun women in that morning show ridiculata.

I guess it’s nice she has such devoted fans? *shrug*

What is going on in her armpit area? I’m not saying she shouldn’t wear sleeveless dresses, but that extra crepe-flesh needs to get back under the fabric.

I cried.... not because of this shit!

Me, neither. Never saw her show except when it was blaring on the four TVs at my demented mother's house and couldn't change the channel fast enough when that happened. Had no idea she was retiring and am both disturbed and amused that anyone here would give a shit.

SUCH a cunt. Never forgave her for what she did live on air to Zac Efron -- as if he had written the sketch about her son.

Was she really fired? That’s it’s not really her decision to quit?

She’s a very, very nice woman.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 5, 2019 6:38 PM

I can't imagine why she would quit. She seemed to enjoy the gig (who wouldn't love working with Hoda?), it pays well, and it kept her in people's living rooms so she stays famous. Her kids are grown, so she doesn't have to worry about them so much; she has plenty of time to enjoy her career.

She’s "nice" until the subject of politics comes up. Catch her at night after she’s polished off a bottle and you’ll see a scary variation on her persona. Rabid right-winger and a big believer that the left is trying to usurp Christians, men in general and white people.

That uncannily smooth, plactic-y makeup-caked face sitting atop that crepey wrinkly neck is creepy and uncomfortable to look at.

I've never been clear (or cared that much) about why she left Regis and Kathy Lee, but then joined Today.
Seems like it's not even a lateral move to go from your own headlining show.

Why is she leaving?
Ages ago I temped for entire summer at the law of Ron Konecky - forgot the name. On madison Avenue. It was an entertainment law firm, and Konecky represented some of the biggest names in news. His name wasn't on the masthead - Firm was Frankfort, Garbus, Klein & Selz (don't hold me to the spelling). He was the NICEST man. Firms like this routinely receive huge blocks of corporate tickets to the most in demand events in NYC and he gave all of his Knicks semi-final tickets to the guys in the mailroom and anyone else who wanted them. He was just nice all around, in the elevator, in his office, in the halls. Even kind. Two of his clients were Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford. They were probably the easiest clients he had. As cheesy as it sounds, they had a real sort of midwestern mentality that stuck (no matter where they were from, and I don't know where that is). And they paid their bills on time. Just the way they handled themselves I imagine they paid the bills of everybody who worked for them on time. I would only see them in the offices from time to time, but there was no eccentricity, no weirdness and no being "on" too much, not even from her. There are plenty of people who are straightforward like that but it's unusual in show business, and news IS show business. BTW the worst? The WORST? Absolutely gross? Charlie Rose.
