The truth is that some of his stories that went on forever were awful. Remember the story of the Phil Morris character pretending to be white that went on forever? That shit was gold. It could have been another woman and they could have made up a backstory about how she and Kim competed for another man before she came to town, but Doug used the history with an established actress to create new story and conflict.

I don't think the folks at Y&R will know how to do this. They don't know how to write. They don't know how to PACE a story. They don't know how to introduce a new character.

The actress playing "Logan" was pretty bad. There was no chemistry at all -- not with Nick nor the recently retconned "George Kaplan." .. I think she lasted one, 13-week cycle and the plug was mercifully pulled. I remember someone claiming Latham was copying a bad Harlequin Romance that they'd read.

LML had some good ideas but like a lot of people who have written elsewhere, she came to daytime and figured that the nighttime way or a novelist's way would work, as if no one had ever tried it.

One good thing about Josh Griffith is that he helped acclimate Michael Malone to the daytime genre, and how some of those stories need to be written and paced. Just as Irna Phillips had done with Harding Lemay years before.
