what is DL's opinion of him and them?

David Geffen fucked Axl.

by Anonymousreply 1March 28, 2019 3:36 AM

Young Slash was beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 2March 28, 2019 3:39 AM

A man who claimed to have been Axl's lover has posted here a few times. I personally love some of their songs, especially Welcome to the Jungle, but hate some of their biggest hits like November Rain. Axl Rose's plastic surgery was tragic since he didn't need it.

by Anonymousreply 3March 28, 2019 3:40 AM

What was the beef between him and Kurt Cobain about again?

by Anonymousreply 4March 28, 2019 3:41 AM

Not to bright

by Anonymousreply 5March 28, 2019 3:50 AM

Stephanie Seymour barley escaped . . .

by Anonymousreply 6March 28, 2019 3:56 AM

by Anonymousreply 8March 28, 2019 4:17 AM

Legendary power bottom.

by Anonymousreply 9March 28, 2019 4:18 AM

Paradise City is awesome, I love blasting it while driving.

by Anonymousreply 10March 28, 2019 4:18 AM

R4, Axl represented everything Kurt hated. The whole 80s entitlement rock star shit. Treating women and gays like shit. Catering to that frat boy mentality. Axl had a much better voice, GnR were better musicians, but they were fake. Nirvana songs are ten times more timeless.

by Anonymousreply 11March 28, 2019 4:20 AM

Major closet case, that Axhole Rose.

by Anonymousreply 12March 28, 2019 5:06 AM

Axl is quite ugly. The homophobe got what she deserved with that botched plastic surgery she had.

by Anonymousreply 13March 28, 2019 5:11 AM

Ugly redneck and woman-hitter from the nasty right-wing state of Indiana. Pasty, flabby, and for all his travels never gained any culture or wisdom. No.

by Anonymousreply 14March 28, 2019 5:20 AM

IMO, Guns N' Roses was the best band of its type. Actually, I don't think you can even lump them into a category with any other band of that time. "Appetite for Destruction" was and is an amazing album. You can pretty much listen to the whole CD / album without skipping a song.

Cobain / Nirvana was rebelling against some of the hair bands, but I think Nirvana members (incl. Cobain if he were alive) would have to admit that Guns N' Roses was in a different class.

Axl Rose supposedly has or had an octave range wider than Mariah Carey.

He was a shitheel back then but he seems to have grown up. Very low bar, I know, but his twitter makes him seem more empathetic than I expected knowing how he was in the late 80s/early 90s. As for the band--pretty damn good!

by Anonymousreply 16March 28, 2019 5:24 AM

Can't deny it but Appetite for Destruction is a great album as r15 stated. Literally, all killer, no filler.

It was reissued last year in deluxe box sets.

Axl was jealous of Jon Bon Jovi.

by Anonymousreply 18March 28, 2019 7:05 AM

Marginally talented band with 2-3 good songs. Very overrated.

by Anonymousreply 19March 28, 2019 10:03 AM

Didn't Axl tell Kurt to 'shut his bitch up', referring to Courtney, at the Grammy's or MTV Awards?

by Anonymousreply 20March 28, 2019 10:21 AM

Kurt on Axl.

Was he even in the closet besides a glass one? I recall reading an article on them in Rolling Stone in 1988, where Axl says George Michael is one of his favorite artists. Then, he showed up backstage at the Pet Shop Boys concert in Hollywood Bowl (I think) when they were touring "Behaviour" with a giant bouquet of roses for them and proclaims it to be his favorite album??

by Anonymousreply 22March 28, 2019 6:42 PM

I liked their song 'Mr. Brownstone' but thought everything else they did was rancid. Also, Slash was too talented for that group. That's all I've got, sorry.

by Anonymousreply 23March 28, 2019 7:13 PM

Well, from r22, Axl has good taste.

by Anonymousreply 24March 29, 2019 1:27 AM

I was never into that type of music but Appetite for Destruction is a great album.

by Anonymousreply 25March 29, 2019 1:30 AM

He was married to Erin Everly and was in a years-long relationship with Stephanie Seymour but because he’s a fan of George Michael and Pet Shop Boys, he’s a cock-obsessed cum dumpster.

Only on Datalounge,, where the straights are gayer than the gays.

by Anonymousreply 26March 29, 2019 1:37 AM

Axl also had a good friendship with Elton John.

by Anonymousreply 27March 29, 2019 1:45 AM

They were good, talented musicians and had several excellent songs; in a completely different class than any other kind of “hair band” from that era.

Even though he was an asshole (with documented mental health and drug abuse issues) Axl Rose was one of the best rock 'n' roll front men of all time. I think that even Rolling Stone magazine has mentioned that he deserves his place as one of the greatest lead singers ever.

Not many can rival his onstage charisma, and the band itself was very good at what they did— playing the hell out of their instruments.

Their music (understandably) might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but at least they were real musicians, they could write music, and they were not an auto-tuned, “created in the studio” product.

by Anonymousreply 28March 29, 2019 1:47 AM

Everyone knows Axl wrote Rocket Queen about himself.

by Anonymousreply 29March 29, 2019 1:50 AM

He needs to lose the bandana.

by Anonymousreply 30March 29, 2019 1:52 AM

Poor anal hygiene.

by Anonymousreply 31March 29, 2019 1:53 AM

God I love Kurt.

by Anonymousreply 32March 29, 2019 3:33 AM

Or could it be there's something gay about him we've all picked up? Actually in this case I use the word queer. There's always been something queer about him, although admittedly that goes with many or even most rock stars. I don't really remember if I ever really thought he's gay but when someone here started telling he had sex with him I found it quite easy to believe. It could obviously all be total bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 33March 29, 2019 3:48 AM

I think the bandana covers his M.P.B..

by Anonymousreply 34March 29, 2019 3:57 AM

The fact that he's a racist doesn't bother any of you ladies? Figures.

by Anonymousreply 35March 29, 2019 4:06 AM

The internet has not always been kind to Axl Rose. Right now, though, he’s winning Twitter.

The singer, never known for filtering his opinions, has taken to criticizing the Trump administration on social media, chiming in about the California wildfires, the unauthorized use of Guns N’ Roses songs at Trump rallies, and encouraging followers to vote. Many of his fans are very here for Axl’s political side, calling him #wokeaxl.

...

In another tweet he calls out systemic American racism by posting a video of a mall cop arresting, manhandling, and threatening a 12-year-old African American boy, along with the commentary, “Come do that to me u fuckin’ pussy; I’ll be waitin’.”

Welcome to the Jungle still sounds like the future. The video perfectly compliments it. Nirvana came along not even four four years later with a song and video to match, stealing their thunder. It even eclipsed it. Nirvana wasn’t based on the blues though. Both albums and impact are once in a generation. Fascinating that they came right after the other. And nothing has happened quite like that with guitar driven music ever since. They both rock, just struck different nerves...

by Anonymousreply 37March 29, 2019 4:21 AM

I agree R37. Appetite was iconic - even if I found Axl boring AF. But I don't think it's as timeless as Nevermind or In Utero. Certainly it doesn't touch Nirvana's Unplugged. Kurt was such a breath of fresh air. He actually was an artist instead of a rock star - though he still was a rock star! He was thoughful, His melodies were so much more haunting, even if his voice wasn't even close to Axl's technically. Plus, he had more interesting things to say and emote. GnR was still a hairband after all. Even if they were far and away the best of the bunch. I think Kurt and Axl would have ended up friends - Kurt was a pretty good friend of Duff McKagan's toward the end.

by Anonymousreply 38March 29, 2019 4:33 AM

Never cared for them. They seemed like the ultimate white trash band to me. (With that in mind I was a little surprised about Axl Rose bashing Trump.) I prefer the grunge era.

by Anonymousreply 39March 29, 2019 4:44 AM

Don't really care for his music. His recent musings do show him to be different from who he may have been in the past. People change and "grow" I guess.

by Anonymousreply 40March 29, 2019 5:19 AM

[quote]Immigrants and faggots They make no sense to me They come to our country And think they'll do as they please Like start some mini-Iran Or spread some fucking disease

Lyrical geniuses!

what kind of male escort does axl buy these days?

by Anonymousreply 42March 29, 2019 6:15 AM

black

by Anonymousreply 43March 29, 2019 6:27 AM

Stephanie Seymour once took a shit in a litter box backstage. Axl and his chaperone Beta basically raised her children.

by Anonymousreply 44September 17, 2019 12:07 PM

Appetite For Destruction is a classic album. After that, for the most part, they got too pretentious and bloated - literally and figuratively. But I also think Nirvana was totally overrated after Nevermind. Yes, Axl was a dick, but a lot of creative people are like that.

One of my guilty pleasures is their cover of Manson's "Look At Your Game, Girl." Even psychopaths can write a good song sometimes.

Axl was/is the most beautiful human being to walk the Earth. Divine singing too. I absolutely love him. Am also convinced that he's at the very least bisexual leaning towards gay. And no, not because he's androgynous

by Anonymousreply 46September 17, 2019 12:22 PM

Guns and Roses recent tour just grossed over half a billion dollars.

by Anonymousreply 47November 25, 2019 11:58 PM

He was white trash hot back in their heyday. Appetite for destruction. is a classic rock album

by Anonymousreply 48November 26, 2019 12:41 AM

Appetite for Destruction is a kick ass rock and roll album. Everything after that was complete shit.
