Yuzuru Hanyu and other figure skating talk part 25
by Anonymous | reply 603 | March 30, 2019 8:23 PM |
Earlier I was ecstatic about Hanyu's renewed goals but now I don't know how to feel about him trying to conquer 4A + all his old quads given information he's released about his ankle and how prone it is to injury now. We all been knew for a while since Helsinski but having the verification come straight from him....really solidifies the reality of it. How he's suppose to conquer 4A if he can barely practice without worrying about damaging a knee that gets more injury-prone every season? He seems dead set on it too. The exchange for gratification is that he'll probably be retiring earlier than expected....at this point forget Beijing 2022, will he even have a functional ankle by 2021? Fuck you, ISU!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 24, 2019 8:07 AM |
R1. I doubt he'll make it to 2022 Olympics. Heck we might have him only for one more season. And yeah I blame ISU for this. I feel he will be on painkillers till he retires. This is not good.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 24, 2019 2:09 PM |
The other thread is almost dead so I'll reply here. People complimenting Nathan for being consistent, I don't want to take away from his accomplishments but it's much easier to be consistent when not much happens in your programs beside the jumps. The problem is that judges are blind to that and that Nathan should never get 5 GOEs on his jumps because they do not tick all the boxes in the rulebook neither should he get 9s in transitions. What pisses me off the most are the hypocritical NA who go after Alina and call her boring and overrated when her programs are full of transitions and intricate steps into jumps while in the same breath calling Nathan a figure skating genius for doing the bare minimum outside of his quad arsenal. The same cunts also go after Trusova although she has already more going for her than Nathan outside of her jumps. I don't mind that Nathan won (much rather him than Shoma), Yuzu wasn't clean in the short and not completely clean in the long and that cost him but let's stop pretending that Nate' scores reflect what he put on the ice.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 24, 2019 6:47 PM |
R3 So I dislike the frau PH forums as much as the next person even though I'm a filthy frau myself, but someone posted a great video that shows the FPs of the top three men minus all the tech (no jumps, no spins) and fuck it, seeing Hanyu basically dancing on blades and Nathan just doing crossover after crossover after crossover makes me mad and insulted by the ISU being completely blind to how far behind other skaters are in terms of program components while forcing Hanyu to approach death by upping his tech to 'catch up'.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 24, 2019 7:02 PM |
R3. Agree. From the beginning of the season nothing changed in regards to Nathan's programs. But miraculously his scores got bigger and bigger. The biggest inflation waa at U.S. nationals which then apparently carried over into worlds.

No hanyu/med pictures ?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 24, 2019 7:09 PM |
R6 No Yuzu/Javi picture either apart from the one with Nam. All are group ones. And no photo with ex bff Uzbekistan renowned choreographer either. He also spent the entire evening overhanding the dozens girls and boys who asked for a picture. Only Keiji got to have the holy fingers touching him during the gala.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 24, 2019 7:15 PM |
The difference in flexibility between Yuzu and the other guys is hilarious.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 24, 2019 7:17 PM |
R8 That photograph is a visual metaphor for so many things.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 24, 2019 7:42 PM |
R6 A few...mostly group shots with the other TCC skaters . Hanyu did get coerced into answering a question with Med for the Olympic Channel IG about who talks more in a press conference.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 24, 2019 7:44 PM |
[R10] like he probably wouldn't have done if it wasn't asked for.
[R6] also pics with TCC never next to med. No sign of Ge neither. Maybe they learnt their lesson for once...

Okay, found that video from R4. Program components of the top three men from their FP at Worlds. Enjoy.

I’m trying to heal, but the swan Sakura fairy keeps pounding me.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 24, 2019 8:39 PM |
I wonder if Hanyu and his doctors have concluded that his ankle is fucked, and no amount of rest, healing or surgery will ever return it to its former healthy state.
So, his only option is to numb it and compete through the pain and hope it holds up enough to still be competitive.
If that is the case, I don't see him being able to up his technical arsenal on a perpetually injured ankle.
I imagine if rest/surgery were viable options to bring his ankle back to full strength, he would've taken those options already and sat out this season.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 24, 2019 9:13 PM |
As I said in the earlier thread, those closest to Yuzu need to stage an intervention with him--he's clearly addicted to the rush he gets from competition because there is no rational reason for him to continue competing.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 24, 2019 9:21 PM |
R15 thanks ISU, think your message couldn’t have been more loud and clear
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 24, 2019 9:37 PM |
[R15] As are those close to him.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 24, 2019 9:39 PM |
R15 I think there was an interview yesterday where he mentions the physical thrill he gets from competing especially against strong opponents. Basically he is an adrenaline junkie.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 24, 2019 9:39 PM |
R15. Yes. Someone needs to step in. I can't imagine being his mom and watching him do this to his body.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 24, 2019 9:48 PM |
R17 Good point. I don't know about his family but I can see where members of his "team" would also find their experience with him addictive. All the hype, all the attention.
R18 Didn't see that interview. Makes sense though, doesn't it?
R19 I can't imagine being his mom either and watching this. I have a medical background so I have some awareness of the hell he's likely putting his body through by continuing to compete. And I wonder about his day-to-day pain--is he in pain when he's not skating? Has anyone asked him about this in interviews? Has anyone asked his team about his continued use of pain killers?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 24, 2019 9:55 PM |
R19 He is a 24 years old adult and it's not like he is doing parkour on top of a 50 stores building, he is just (not so) slowly destroying his joints and ligaments for a bit of a rush and posterity. Moreover it's not just about him there is likely a huge pressure on him to continue from his fed and of course as a recipient to the biggest civilian award of his country he also probably feels he needs to give back even more. There are also financial interests from the fed, the isu and people around him in having him compete as long as possible. Add to that pressure from his peers, juniors, seniors and idols for him to go until Beijing and it's obvious it's not such an easy decision to make anymore. And the fact that competing and skating is all his life makes it even harder to stop. It's not like with a guy like Javi for instance. I just hope that he will be able to stop on his own accord and not because he will have destroyed his ankle beyond repair.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 24, 2019 9:59 PM |
R20 I think if he didn't have to compete the pain in his ankle would fade over time but landing quads after quads on it day in day out to prepare for a competition when you know the kind of weight and force a quad puts on the body, there is no way he isn't in pain. Hence I was not surprised to hear he was again taking painkillers. Silver lining now is that he has the off season for it to rest and figure out how to train around it.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 24, 2019 10:05 PM |
Will Hanyu do World Team Trophy?
Or will Tanaka manage to find his way even there?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 24, 2019 10:17 PM |
If you feel that strongly that he should retire, you should do your part and stop watching him compete. Part of that thrill comes from having an audience and you’re contributing to the problem. There isn’t an elite athlete in the world who isn’t an adrenaline junkie and unfortunately, many top athletes will continue to compete until they're too injured to go on. He acknowledged the risk in the small medal ceremony and the concern. He's said in almost every long interview these last few days that he will monitor his ankle and proceed carefully. He knows and probably wouldn't bring it up otherwise. (I also doubt some haven't already tried to convince him to retire.)
R11 Ge did take one of the TCC group photos. It’s the one where Hanyu is the only one not looking at Ge’s camera. Probably just a coincidence, but still funny.
Fernandez and Radford are touring together for SOI Japan starting this weekend. I think it was last year’s SOI where they had that beautiful backstage moment captured on camera.

[quote] With Lithuanian skater
Ah, that's the one where Yuzuru is standing on his toes to look taller.
And isn't Eric Radford getting married soon? I can't remember the name of his husband-to-be. So keep your hands to yourself, Habi! Isn't there some cute Japanese twink you could be bothering instead?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 24, 2019 10:30 PM |
Poster from GS and I agree with him : Be careful with this. Yuzu has lovely flow but there are several problems with his artistry. He looks down a lot, he has bad posture, etc. I love him to death, but let's stop with this Yuzu is the 10 of PCS and everyone is below. He does not have anything near the lines or extension of a Guillaume Cizeron.
ETA: And no one can tell me the Yuzu had well constructed programs this year. Chopin and Seimei make these look like footnotes
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 24, 2019 10:32 PM |
I don't know what it is about this picture, if it's their proportions or how they are standing like they're on a prom date as someone on twitter said but I find it endlessly amusing.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 24, 2019 10:34 PM |
Like everyone (well, most people) I'm concerned about what the current state of this sport is making Hanyu feel like he has to do, but I'm also kinda waiting for how his technique will evolve because of it. He said that the major injury risk to his ankle is actually URs more than anything else, so he has to train himself to jump bigger so he can land well. His jumps are already big. They're going to be monstrous.
Also found it funny when he said that he could probably get his 4Lz to about 1 in 20 with a few weeks of training. Just like that, huh? I'd love to see that jump back, it was gorgeous in practices.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 24, 2019 10:38 PM |
Hanyu still looks like he's 15 in all those photos.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 24, 2019 10:45 PM |
Did anyone watch the Netflix Surya episode of Losers? There's nothing more tiresome to me than this revisionist history that Surya was some great skater. She makes Nathan Chen look like Nuryev and Madison H look like a graceful bird. She was an athletic, gymnastic truck driving force who had not one ounce of artistry or taste. She had terrible skating skills, awful programs, and next to no choreography. To have people, even uber frau's like Scott "God made me not gay, but he also gave me cancer" Hamilton praise her as this looked-over master of skating is just too much. Yes there was and still is racism in the sport, but there was a reason Crazy Debbie Thomas won a world medal while Surya had to settle with ripping the silver off her own neck.
Pure dreck.

by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 25, 2019 12:39 AM |
R33 It’s a lycarek vs Plushenko discussion before the new scoring system. Her jumps had very very long telescoping. So does Nathan’s, so does zhou( even worse cause he actually looks back lol). Unfortunately FS has never figured out whether they value artistry v jumps. They let their politics and to some degree fans decide. Can we all admit, Hanyu is quite a phenomenon in popularity?! How Isu wants to spin it in the future is questionable. Once Hanyu fazes out, I assume it will all be athleticism to let nathan reign until he gets injured or retires. Many Hanyu fans will be gone after he retires, many Japanese sponsors may be gone as well if another Japanese skater is not able to compete.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 25, 2019 12:40 AM |
Sorry to carry this over to the other thread but whoever got mad that I said I see Chen and Uno as nothing alike, I never said there's nothing good about Chen's skating. Just that I find it stuff and nothing similar to Uno's. He has good jumps and stiff landings, what can I say.
I'm not mad that Chen or Zhou got on the podium, but I don't think being "consistent" should be what gives you a medal. Yuzu does have problems, I agree that he's not perfect and tends to let go of his posture, but how are Chen and Zhou getting higher scores than anyone else from some judges for their lackluster skating skills and edges and transitions? I don't think I've seen any Asian skaters get inflated PCS -- Hanyu and Uno deserve high skating skill scores, and those below them like Tanaka or Tomono definitely stay below in scores. I felt that way when I watched them inflate the Canadian pair scores at 4cc and underscored the Chinese and this time inflated the Russian pairs and underscored the Chinese... is it just a white man's sport thing and pearl clutching, I wonder. Makes me pretty cynical about it.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 25, 2019 12:51 AM |
r38 not sure, but I don't think they were saying that they skate alike. Just that the 3 exhibitions they skated were interchangeable. all boring, generic male ballads skated at different levels of proficiency.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 25, 2019 12:56 AM |
R38 Sadly, that's the figure skating world for you. It's never been about fairness, it never has been really. When the 6.0 system was in place, there were problems with corruption and bribery. When the new ISU system that was intended to eliminate said biases was put in place after the debacle of the 2002 OG (the last under the 6.0 system), there were even more issues. Every revision of the judging system has done nothing but make the protocols increasingly more vague and open to interpretation, thus making even the most ugly skating receive scores as if it was the most perfect skating in the world. Unfortunately, that's the state of things now and there doesn't seem to be an end to this debauchery in sight.

TSL 3/24 – Worlds: Men – Part 1: Guest: Joe Inman. D says Hanyu fans think Chen was overscored – Joe says Chen was clearly the winner. “What Hanyu did wasn’t any better, quality wise, than what Chen did. To me, a lot of what Nathan does is effortless.” Jon says he thinks Yuzu has better transitions in and out. Joe mispronounces “Hanoo’s” name and says his problem w/him is his carriage; his arms dangle. D says Hanyu looks down too much. Joe: ..but [Hanyu], “he’s a great skater” 10 About performance mark – Joe says Hanyu’s perf is “filled with energy” but he’s out of his music at the beginning of the program and before every quad (which he’d earlier is true for all the men.) But he’d still put him in the 9’s. 12 He does have power and acceleration. “My problem with him is interpretation – all the men have that problem except for Jason Brown, though Jason’s long program didn’t show it – but his short was dynamic.” [Jon nodding yes to disliking his long] All 3 don’t like Yuzu’s music this year compared to last – generic, lacking point of view. They think Seimei was his best, which brought out his best phrasing [an obsession of Joe’s]. 15.50 D: I think his running edge is better than Nathan’s. 26 D asks Joe about Benoit’s choreography w/Bradie/Kaori. Joe thinks it’s interesting but a lot of judges don’t like angular movement like that. 29 D holds up his new book and says this guy Shoma, has better skating skills and posture than Hanyu or Chen. They agree Shoma’s mistakes took down his energy, but Joe loves his knees, power & acceleration, which are things he likes about Hanyu too.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 25, 2019 2:10 AM |
TSL 3/24 – Worlds: Men – Part 2 – 30 Kolyada: Jon loves his posture – Joe hated his Carmen. Nonsensical music cuts and phrasing. 32 D: By contrast, and “typical French”, Aymoz is so sloppy. Joe said Sui/Han had wonderful posture/carriage and Brezina had a “break out” performance and Joe had him half a point higher than Kolyada on all components except skating skills. 36 Shoma’s mistakes took him out of the music – Joe says Moonlight Sonata is hard to skate to. 40 D: How about Vincent’s components? – they’re really inflated… Joe: “Who? Oh Zhou – I think he’s better than what everyone’s saying. Look at the phrasing!...” D: The first half of his prog is still a jump drill. 43 Joe: Speaking of great phrasing, Patrick Chan’s programs were great when he was with Lori every day “before he dumped her.” These skaters need more time w/choreographers. D: “Mie Hamada will tell you that she’s the only skater who works w/Vincent who works on both the jumps and the actual skating.” 46 Joe wd like to work w/Zhou & Nathan on understanding music. 50 D questions Orser as a coach when he looks at Jason’s and Medvedeva’s music, plus having Jason do an edge type quad was also a questionable decision, but his elements have gotten much better. 58 Joe said the men were giving much more artistry than the women. Jon: I’m still getting flak for saying the women were like a juniors comp (except Satoko who was undermarked.) Joe wd have given Zag 7.5 to 8 in interpretation. “Nobody was a 9 in ladies” 1.06 Joe: Cipres used to be harsh with Vanessa but Zimmerman has toned that down and forced him to behave.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 25, 2019 2:11 AM |
TSL 3/24 – Worlds: Men – Part 3 – 1.12 Joe leaves the video, and D&J continue. They agree Kolyada needs that rumored coaching change – and surprisingly, they think Shoma should change coaches due to problems w/technique and his mental state at Worlds. D: He needs Mie Hamada’s “hard ass structure” 1.21 Tom Z will probably write a book after Zhou’s success at worlds – “How to Solve Urs” or some such. 1.23 D thinks Orser is too heteronormative quad-quad-quad in outlook and he doesn’t think much of Jason. D thinks Jason will help him as he becomes more of a ladies’ coach (to help Med – D thinks if Med cd just hit a beautiful line, a beautiful spiral, she’d have more options.) Lots about Jason. 1.30 They think Jason shd work with Sandra Bezic (D makes fun of her ostentatiousness). Then D also imitates Doug Haw, brashly: “He’s doing yoga!! Brian says fine – if it makes him stronger and happy I don’t care” 1.33 Team Trophy – D: they shd def send Mariah and shd use her everywhere, now she’s famous. 1.38 D’s moment from the men’s was Hanyu’s 4T/3A which excites him “from the inside out” and the quad loop was amazing. Another moment of Dave’s: Backstage when Hanyu’s so upset and Brian says, “We’ll stay in touch.” Hanyu says, “I just want to work really hard!” And Tracy says, “You do!!!” Jon’s moments: Nathan’s and Hanyu’s step sequences in the short programs. D: Shoma Uno’s! J: Also Shoma Uno’s step sequence! J’s overall moment was Sui/Han. D: And Marie France in that trenchcoat, and P/C’s free dance made history. END

by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 25, 2019 3:15 AM |
I said this in the other thread. I find it sad that Nathan has done nothing to improve his programs all season but his scores somehow got bigger and bigger. It inflated so much at U.S. nationals and sadly that was carried over to worlds. I shouldn't be surprised. I have always seen the darkness in figure skating when it came to scores. This will never change and I am one that stopped watching when weir retired. I will have to leave again once Yuzuru retires. Isu clearly does not care to fix this ridiculous scoribg problem These athletes (not just yuzuru) work so hard and what is happening is not right.

I don't understand how Med can be a figure skater and have this belly. She's literally exercising that area of her body every day. Gabby looks tiny compared to her. This is Jason Brown's twitter, so no ps, I hope.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 25, 2019 4:24 AM |
R56 She naturally has a large waist ( almost look like no waist ) and she can't do anything against that even if she gets more thinner.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 25, 2019 5:00 AM |
r56 that's just her genetic pre-disposition. She'd have to have a sickly low body fat percentage and specifically work certain muscles in order to lose it. I know someone with her height and body type and even when she was as low as 93 lbs. she still had a protruding belly. Just not worth the time to work that hard on it if it unless it's impeding her skating somehow.
and comparing her body negatively to someone who obviously has an eating disorder and is less successful in every way seems strange, at best
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 25, 2019 5:01 AM |
What is funnier is that she usually wears croptop during practice only to "show off" that large waist. Liza Tuk also has the same body like Med.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 25, 2019 5:03 AM |
She never showed this amount of skin before lol not very found of her training outfit but I would have expected more structured abs or something. When it's genetic there's no much you can do

R56 She's not fat the bump is her uterus. Some women have a more distinct bump there and no amount of exercise will make that go away it all depends on your body type.

r64 That's Iron Klaus? She's a huge fan and often brings news first, so that's bizarre. I think Yuzu said that pink is one of his lucky colors. I don't think he'd wear colors he dislikes just for Johnny Weir, especially that Johnny Weir didn't seem to be that fond of pink. Plus, there's the Prince shirt and Haru Yo Koi, and Johnny has nothing to do with those.
r58 I watched Gabby carefully, but she looked very healthy, in my opinion. Certainly not starved, her legs looked very solid. Maybe she just ends up photoshopping herself.

R66 an eating disorder is more of a mental health issue. You're not necessarily going to be able to see it - bulimics are actually more often than not a little pudgy and Gracie Gold with anorexia is overweight . It's pretty obvious that Gabby has body dysmorphia. I thought she even publicly said she had one, though it's hard to keep track of everything that's wrong with her these days so not sure
by Anonymous | reply 68 | March 25, 2019 8:09 AM |
R64 She is a total bitch who snaps at anyone who comments under her posts. Moreover she very often translates things out of context/wrongly and create drama for no reason (I believe she loves it). There are way better translators in the fandom so I can't believe she still has so many followers. She is just one of those typical homophobic heteronormative Asian fraus who find Hanyu-sama so manly and would love to swoon in his skinny arms and don't you dare call him gay. I always wonder why these cunts chose to stan Yuzu of all skaters. The bishounen appeal I suppose. Tl;dr just ignore/block the bitch. You won't miss anything.

Japanese viewership stas. The most interesting is the comparison of numbers vs last year's. Especially considering that last year Shoma was coming off an Olympic silver high and a candidate or gold. Nope, those ads won't be rolling without Yuzu. Though the fact that this year the event was in Japan and in prime time and last year it wasn't (at least I don't think so?) must have been a major factor too.

Also, it seems Yuzu will be a guest at the WTT gala, great news! I hope the lightning will be better, and by better I mean more pink. Because in Saitama the lighting made him look, as somebody said, more like fish than a sakura flower. I actually prefer the Helsinki performance, although the ice-kissing ice-hugging hydroblade from Saitama is a whole new level of awesome.

*ankle! the state of his ankle!

by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 25, 2019 9:47 AM |
R77 I really think he genuinely took that loss better than any major loss he has had in the past and that's because regardless of what happens from now on he has 2 OGMs which no one will ever be able to take from him. However I also agree that him believing there was a gap in ability which he needs to close by working harder (who works harder than this guy) is ridiculous. That Nathan almost got 95 in pcs is beyond outrageous. On another note I'm no Shoma fan but why does he have to do the WTT. Literally no one gives a shit about that competition. From what I understand he also had an injury and given his bad technique if he keeps pushing he is really going to destroy his body. Let both Yuzu and him skip it. I read that Yuzu will be there as a guest any way. They can do the same with Shoma. I expect Javi will also be invited. Make it an ice show instead of a useless comp and be done with it.

You'll all forget about Hanyu after I regale you with my masterful artistry at WTT.

R80 As if Tanaka 'Yuzu-chan's knight in shining armor since preschool' Keiji who would defend him from bullies like Kanako mocking his mushroom haircut since they were 10 and let him cry on his shoulder afterwards, would ever held such thoughts.

Funny how the manager of med Instagram now post as Alina's ones lol the Japanese part sounds quite weird tho

by Anonymous | reply 85 | March 25, 2019 10:36 AM |
R79 It isn't ridiculous at all. It's realistic. Scores don't reflect a skater's ability. I believe he was quite shocked at Nathan's huge scores at Worlds because he thought he could win free skate or at least lost to Chen's by a much smaller margin. He might not genuinely believe there is a gap in ability between them, he might think Nathan is overscored af. But Nathan will get those scores no matter how outrageous they are. Working harder to improve consistency and learn more quads,...is the only possible way to beat Chen.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | March 25, 2019 11:04 AM |
Sometimes I wish Yuzu was more like Patrick and would throw some shade. Nathan should never have had such a lead over Yuzu. It was already overblown with the sp but the 10 points gap in the fs is beyond ridiculous. I also find interesting how different people like Ted Barton or Philippe Candeloro have said that they consider the 4loop to be more difficult than the flip and possibly than the lutz. Unfortunately its base value is lower than both pushing Yuzu to believe he needs to go for both of those jumps to win. Every time I see Yuzu land the 4loop my hips hurt for him. It's such a dangerous jump as Candeloro mentioned.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | March 25, 2019 11:23 AM |
Lol. I thought Yuzu had tried to tone down his skinship with men after that fat lard Kitano' s vile joke a few months ago but seems like it's not exactly the case. Curious to see what they did this time with Mr Ice dancer by day princess carry expert by night.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | March 25, 2019 11:35 AM |
According to more than one poster in her thread at GS, Rika is planning a 4S in the first half and a 3A in the second half of her free skate next season.

The way that US skating fans treat Raf is so funny to me. They are such hypocrites. Imagine if Eteri said she didn't care about transitions or if she told one of her skaters "elephants can't fly"...but when Raf does this shit he gets a pass. So honest and refreshing! And of course, he doesn't want ladies to learn quads. He just wants to bump up the age limit (because let's face it...his girls aren't going to win shit as the rules stand now)
by Anonymous | reply 94 | March 25, 2019 2:26 PM |
R78 No, no. You were correct the first time. Hanyu has been fucked by the ISU for the entirety of his senior career thus far...you're right to be concerned about the state of his asshole.

R58 You type fat and postpartum. Gabby's eating disorder does not manifest itself in an abnormally low body weight. She has a normal, athletic body. So no, it's not "strange" to compare Med to Gabby. As people have pointed out, it's likely just Med's body shape. Or, the most obvious reason - she's carrying Hanyu's child.
R62 Good. There's a simple solution then. She can just remove the uterus.
R64 IK is a strange one. I like her just fine, but she is very thin-skinned and prickly. Didn't know she was Asian. She's often lectures her followers about following anti accounts, but she follows and often retweets one of the worst Hanyu anti accounts of all - rd to sochi or something.
R87 Hanyu's BV is really not that much lower than Nathan's - for both SP and FS, I think it's a handful of points - like 5 points. He should be more than able to make that up in the quality of elements, but he's now realizing the judges don't give a shit about that.
I can't find it right now, but there's a recent interview where Raf blames the whole Bell/Lim incident on Lim and refers to her as "the Korean" while calling Bell by her name. He goes on AT LENGTH and doesn't even try to be equanimous. He also blames the adults around Lim and iirc, her parents. He really knows how to stick it to the Orientals! I wish people would interview Raf more. He's so entertaining.

R107 Yuzu/Shoma is disgusting. At least go for the superior team Japan ship. Yuzu/Med's issue is not a linguistic one, nor is it even a sexual orientation one. The main problem is that even if he was straight, she behaves like a fucking creepy stalker fan. He can and should do better than a batshit crazy Armenian girl with raging hormones and an overbearing personality. Yes thousands of fans around the world do the same but at least those don't have close and extensive access to him on a daily basis. She seriously gives me the creeps.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | March 25, 2019 5:43 PM |
Med probably read about Nijinski's story. Poor guy was gay but was relentlessly pursued by an insane fangirl throughout Europe until he caved in and married her. He spent the last decade of his life in a mental hospital. Hopefully Hanyu can see the big red warning sign and stay away from trouble and not end up in the same predicament. If mama Hanyu wants him to marry a nice girl he should go for someone like Satoko.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | March 25, 2019 5:48 PM |
R103 R106 JFC, I thought it was an obvious joke. Sorry to set off the ridiculous Med/Hanyu shipping discussion.

R111 Hanyu should go for a nice girl like Miki Ando.

R107 Most of Hanyu ships are harmless jokes. Hanyu/ Med ship made up by Russian ubers and welcomed by their own client is on another level. Anyway Russian homophobia is disgusting so can't blame those brainwashed people born there.
R110 C'mon no one will take Yuzu/Shoma serious. I'm more surprised that no one seems to ship Plushenko/ Yuzuru

R115 He seems like such a chill guy and I really like his gala programs. He just doesn't have the nerves for competition but he will make a great show skater. And he is pretty cute. Why did you have to put the image of Shoma grinding on someone in my head. I feel like throwing up.

[quote] C'mon no one will take Yuzu/Shoma serious. I'm more surprised that no one seems to ship Plushenko/ Yuzuru
I like the idea of Yuzu and Shoma. I want Yuzu with somebody who's sweet and not too egotistical, and that ain't easy to find in the skating world. And it would have to be a Japanese and a skater. Oh and when asked what he'd want in a wife, he said someone small that he would feel like he needed to protect. (I know, sheesh) But anyway, Shoma is small and as Yuzu said, he's so kawaii - like a puppy! And Shoma laughed. I mean, they're just the perfect pair.

But Yuzu likes taking care of Shoma - adjusting his collar, his medal ribbons, his microphones, rolling up his too-long sleeves, cleaning up after him (pushing chair back under table, tidying the nameplate etc.) I hardly think of him as a bear - but sort of a Mama Pooh Bear, and Shoma's like a little cub. I'm really getting into this lol. Now how do I make a Weibo account and figure out how to photoshop?
by Anonymous | reply 128 | March 25, 2019 7:03 PM |
Oh remember when they were walking down that corridor and Yuzu took off his jacket for Shoma to put on because he was shivering? And he told him to tie up his trousers once? Maybe they're already together - the best kept secret in skaterdom!

Is this the girl who skates for Poland who just started at TCC last year? There was a gif of her and Yuzu, kicking one leg up and doing the victory sign?
Anyway, I really do want to like Evgenia - and pictures like this make me feel better. I don't follow all her accounts and stuff, but I don't think I've heard of much tacky Yuzu shipping lately - and she doesn't seem to push herself on him, like at the gala or banquet or anything, the way Misha used to do. I think she's got the message. And there must be somebody she could move on to - that Orzel boy is drop dead gorgeous, and the same age as her.

The only female I could see Hanyu with is a Marie Kondo clone. Can you imagine how adorable the two of them would be, sparking joy as they folded each other's underpants?
As for males, I could see Hanyu with all sorts of big, muscular guys but never with a little person like Shoma.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | March 25, 2019 7:17 PM |
Is there a big muscular Japanese skater? Keiji? Kenji?
by Anonymous | reply 136 | March 25, 2019 7:20 PM |
R129 I knew there were all sorts of things, that's why I brought it up. Shoma must be certainly glad senpai notices him lol
by Anonymous | reply 137 | March 25, 2019 7:22 PM |
I know he's tiny but I see Shoma as pretty butch - Dai did call him the bulldozer. He's sloppy - but that's a masculine type trait too. What a he-man! I mean, can you imagine him wearing that pink jellyfish costume, with all the ruffles and frills? I can't.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | March 25, 2019 7:26 PM |
That's a pretty good option R138. Yuzuru once wanted to play baseball - and when he threw an opening pitch, he did it the right way, not "like a girl"
And one is outgoing and the other seems to me to be very very shy, but I don't know the guy very well.

Tamura would be great - though he's 15 years older than Yuzu. Here's a quote of Tamura talking about Hanyu in December 2015:
...he also called out to my skaters as well, he is conscious of the people around him. Not only is he a great skater, he’s a great person as well.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | March 25, 2019 8:03 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 154 | March 25, 2019 9:23 PM |
R154 Typical Orser's PR stick. Honestly these interviews are pointless because he knows and we know that he can never be honest and talk about Yuzu's injury or mental health, etc so all he can do is giving his best feel good lines each and every time. But I guess it works for some fans who need to be reassured constantly.

Thank you fraus of DL thread! I much indebted for your teaching me new words to talk to fatty American skaters. I am sick of using "sluggish." I know not what it means? Slugs are small, not fatties.
I wish to turn back time and say to Rippon. What is happen today with jumps? Grindr hookup put 10 cum babies in your uterus?
Next time, no calling Brezinova pig for me. I will say instead, Eliska, your bladder looks full of fat piggies that ate other piggies. Go to ladies room to relieve them, then you jump.
When Wagner comes in, I say to her, your body shape is naturally like 1000 applies tottering on fat cow. I know not your fault. Is hard jumping with so many apples.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | March 25, 2019 10:16 PM |
Thank you! It's like he sprinkles in "I've got to watch the condition of my ankle" along with the "I must work hard and add 4Lz and 4F to win" type stuff.
He doesn't outright say "I know I'll be fine and will win and get gold in Beijing"
so I'm confused if he's weighing the pros and cons of continuing, considering the state of his ankle (and hips and knees). As he said (from another translater I think): "All the fragile and brittle parts of my body are coming to the fore. I need to take care of these parts of my body while creating moments when I don't take care of them, and somehow keep evolving. At least this is what I hope I can do." "I haven't had time to think about the next Olympics at all, honestly. Nathan says we'll be at the Bejjing Olympics in no time at all, but for me it's different. If I try to take stress off of my ankles, it damages my lower back, or my knees start hurting... and also, "Right now, I don't know how far I can push myself. That's how it is."
It seemed to me that Shizuka was being rude when she, according to the translator, "pointed out that previous male skaters have had to deal with injuries as well and she asked him about his own condition and views. She also pointed out that some had surgery to continue competing..."
Well, missy, why did YOU retire at age 24? You could have kept working for medals for Japan, you know!

Hanyu's already returned to Canada. WTF?
by Anonymous | reply 159 | March 25, 2019 10:27 PM |
R156 Thanks, I've been perusing Twitter and it's depressing. So Hanyu basically thinks he's not good enough, cried from training too hard, and pretty much said he's worse than Nathan, that he just needs to work harder to improve his skating abilities. Thanks, ISU, for sucking the life out of him. I swear, if he kills himself on this mission to skate "better", I'm personally going to the ISU and telling them that they are responsible for the murder of Yuzuru Hanyu because they are killing him with their damn system and their "dance monkey dance" attitude.

Tanaka and Hanyu (and Hino) already plan to travel the world together after they retire. There will be plenty of time for their relationship to blossom.
r153 For the love of god, not again! That’s not a translation, but a fan’s personal feelings. There was no “hate stabbing him like needles” talk. First of all, he said he cried on the last day of training because he felt a release. He’d worked really hard through the pain and exhaustion every day, and now it was time for it to pay off. He would perform, win, enjoy himself and be happy. Of course, he lost and unlike Pyeongchang, didn’t have that same feeling of satisfaction… BUT then he said he’s so impressed with Chen’s maturity and mental strength at such a young age, and is now very motivated because he finally has a rival to surpass, which makes him happy as it’s what he always wanted.
r165 Who says fiance won't be touching Judge Bulge's ten foot pole while Eric issp gone. Why were they hanging out together anyway?
This is the interview. Even if you don’t understand Japanese, you can at least tell he’s not being weepy and sad.

by Anonymous | reply 172 | March 25, 2019 11:14 PM |
R170 I agree that there is no need for the overdramatic reaction and that he took the loss quite posivitely this time but let's not kid ourselves either, his ankle is toast and other parts of his body are falling apart and even he realizes he might not be able to make all his dreams/goals come true at this rate. I wish he would drop the 4lz/4f nonsense. I absolutely do not want him to bring back the 4lz. I have ptsd of that jump. He should focus on the quad axel and see if that's achievable. In any case I hope he won't do a Plushenko and go for another Olympics just to be too injured to compete there.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | March 25, 2019 11:17 PM |
Pasting it here too. She said yet today he said he is tired, that it's hard. So where am I missing these are my feelings? Like I said English is my first language and I can read this clear as day. If it's not what he said Then she is wrong.
This is someone who's never been 100% upfront with his inner thoughts. Yet today he said he is tired, that it's hard, that he can feel the love as well as the hate stabbing him like a needles. Please, he's just a boy. What more do he needs to sacrifice in pursuit of happiness? 😭

R172 JDC could be Iron Klaus with how snappy and condescending they are quite often. A key to stop being a cunt: realize you aren't necessarily always right even if you think so/you are not so irreplaceable that it gives you a right to belittle others.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | March 25, 2019 11:21 PM |
JDC didn't belittle anyone - just expressed being upset at that person for mistranslating Yuzuru's words to fit her own fan fantasies.

I'm sure JDC was just frustrated that we read these weird mistranslations and then frau the fuck out all over this thread. Sorry, but JDC is not replaceable.

WTT is in 2 weeks. I wonder if Yuzu will come back for the gala or if he is going into hermit mode until faoi starts. I suppose the latter is more likely now. Too bad. Hopefully he filmed some nice additional sekkisei ads to keep us fed in the meantime.

R179 I think you're being very over-sensitive. You posted a mistranslation (as a number of us have done in the past few days because of course, we are all concerned about Hanyu). Given the things people say on this thread, "for the love of god" is practically an endearment. Please calm down, it's no big deal.
R175 IK wouldn't survive for a second on this thread. I like her curmudgeonly personality, but she is quite humorless and sensitive. Are you the one who always calls JDC a "cunt" or a "translator bitch" but never tells us how exactly you disagree with them or how they're wrong?
by Anonymous | reply 183 | March 26, 2019 12:03 AM |
R180. Nope. Won't call you that. Sorry but I don't come here and call others names. The only one I came close to calling a name was Daitroll when it called me an idiot. You came off angry at me. Perhaps that wasn't your intention. I then decided to cool off.

All this talk about a quad axel is ridiculous. Yuzuru is already injured and only getting older. Look at Shoma, already chronically injured in some fashion, and he's like 20 years old? Even Vincent has has knee or some type of leg injury, and he's 18. Yuzuru should save his health and sanity and do all the shows and commercials while his popularity is at its height. Competing injured and losing sounds really bad for his mental state too. He looked skinnier than ever and all this is troubling.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | March 26, 2019 3:08 AM |
R190 It was Iron Klaus who originally posted the hate/stabby needles translation. It's still there on her account. I'm confused because it actually looks like she's translating from an interview. Here is the original IK thread.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | March 26, 2019 4:33 AM |
Yeesh, is it really necessary for them to send Uno to WTT? Give him a break and let Tomono have his chance.
One thing I love about both Yuzu and Shoma is that they do not give boring interviews. Shoma goes off on beating himself up to the point of making people uncomfortable and Yuzu goes off to spew emotionally vulnerable poetry that people go crazy over. Just stringing their interviews together would be entertainment of its own. (I'm not saying I'm happy about Yuzu's unhappiness, don't @ me)

r183 r185 r187 Thanks guys. I think at least one of the translators or their friends post here.
R184 Sorry about that. I meant to reply to r175, who actually called me a cunt. “For the love of god, not again” was referring to this cycle of people on twitter mistranslating or mischaracterizing Hanyu’s words, causing foreign fanyus to freak out about something that was never said.
r192 Well, that’s weird. That’s from an entirely different live interview that took place right after the medal ceremony on Saturday with Miyane. The interview the tweeter screencapped and moaned about was with Matsuoka and aired on Monday. So she didn’t understand the Matsuoka interview and used (incorrect) phrases from IK’s translation of another interview?
As for IK, it looks like she didn’t understand an expression Hanyu used so took artistic license. Hanyu was describing what it’s like when he’s “in the zone” and how he can feel all of the good and ill will from the audience when he’s performing. Miyane asked him if it’s like, “Oh, this person feels really good about me, but not this other guy.” Hanyu said it’s like the audience’s “vibes” pierce him (“sasaru”) and he can feel it all. But he wasn’t “in the zone” during this WC.
“Sasaru” has several meanings, including “to stab (with a weapon)” and “to inject (a needle).” I think IK went with the first definitions she found in a J-E dictionary and came up with “hate stabbing me like needles.”
R186 Maybe it’s Uno’s ghost!
by Anonymous | reply 196 | March 26, 2019 8:21 AM |
R196 I obviously know you aren't IK as she only posts things out of context and for the longest time (before she was called out numerous times) with no link to the entire article or bits of news she was translating. I was referring to your lovely temper which I found quite similar. As for being a cunt, we all are here otherwise we would be somewhere else not on the dl. In any case I barely post here outside of competitions and now with the upcoming Yuzu drought I will also fade out. In the meantime feel free to put me on ignore instead of derailing the whole thread because your feelings were hurt.

Poster 2: JDC's over dramatic

Poster 2: JDC's a cunt.
Poster 1: I need to take a breather because JDC said, for the love of god.
JDC: You called me a cunt.
Poster 2: No, I called you a cunt.
Poster 1: I would never call anyone a cunt.
JDC: Let me explain to you how a subtle turn of phrase can change the import of someone's words.
Poster 2: We're all cunts. You're a ranging cunt because you said "for the love of god"!!!! Not everything is about your butthurt!!! Bai.

I'm wondering why Hanyu went back to Canada so quickly. Is it because he has a particular doctor he likes there that is treating his ankle? I would have thought he would spend a little time in Japan with family.

R196 and I admit that person did worry me. We all care about Hanyu very much (most of us do) and I think we all just want him happy. So when I read that it hurt. I'm glad it was a wrong translation.
by Anonymous | reply 201 | March 26, 2019 1:40 PM |
Anyone else see this? I hope we can get a translation but from the comments it looks like the vp from JSF is complaining about the pooh bears?
by Anonymous | reply 202 | March 26, 2019 1:59 PM |
I wish they'd stop with the pooh bears and knick knacks. Hanyu doesn't need that junk and it's terrible for the environment. I foresee old pooh bears and polyester debris floating in the waters around Japan for thousands of years. He should tell his fans to donate the money to some charity like earthquake relief. In general, those things fans throw can create hazards on the ice.
by Anonymous | reply 203 | March 26, 2019 2:11 PM |
R203 Spoken like someone who is not a fan of Hanyu.
by Anonymous | reply 204 | March 26, 2019 2:20 PM |
R202 good lord, you know this started with Raf complaining about the Pooh bears? I think JSF has more important things to worry about than a silly skating tradition. It looks weak and stupid for them to kow tow to another skater and insult their own fans. What's the reason for this? I refuse to believe this guy is just stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 205 | March 26, 2019 2:20 PM |
Did Raf really complain about the Pooh bears? If Raf was serious, then he must be punished. I'm thinking South Korean fans could be a big help with this.
by Anonymous | reply 206 | March 26, 2019 2:22 PM |
R206 Raf said the Pooh bears are 'psychological warfare' or something like that. I mean, you're talking about the guy who tells his skaters they're lard asses with animal analogies. I find it interesting that JSF, if indeed it is true that Raf set this whole thing in motion (JDC we await your clarification), would pay any attention to what he has to say.
by Anonymous | reply 207 | March 26, 2019 2:36 PM |
I don't mind Hanyu's pooh bears as long as he donates them to needy kids like other skaters.
by Anonymous | reply 208 | March 26, 2019 2:47 PM |
R2O6 R207 To be fair, the JSF VP was responding to a Hanyu anti's Twitter comment that was parroting Raf's comments so he may not have been aware of Raf's complaint. However, he did express his relief that Nate could skate after the Pooh rain without being physically and emotionally affected. He also shared a personal video of the Pooh rain, of course further setting off fans who were restricted from filming. LoL I gotta go look up what JDC has said about this guy.
by Anonymous | reply 209 | March 26, 2019 2:47 PM |
The poohs are ICONIC. The tradition must continue until the end.
by Anonymous | reply 210 | March 26, 2019 3:19 PM |
R208 I think he does donate them. Brian has mentioned it before and also after Helsinki GP there were pictures of volunteers sending the Poohs off to a children's hospital.
by Anonymous | reply 211 | March 26, 2019 3:20 PM |
R209 Again, I find it hilarious he is suddenly so concerned about the mental state of his athletes when he belittles them in training. Poor sensitive Raf just wants somebody to rain Poohs on him, too.
by Anonymous | reply 212 | March 26, 2019 3:36 PM |
Of course Raf hates the poohs. They are fatties that can fly, thereby undermining an important Raf truism. How can he face his students now??!!
by Anonymous | reply 213 | March 26, 2019 3:44 PM |
Orser gave an interview about the Poohs not long ago. Hanyu's team first goes through everything to remove notes, letters, etc. and then they're donated to a charity or hospital. Brian said he's occasionally helped with this himself and made it sound like they take this process quite seriously.
by Anonymous | reply 214 | March 26, 2019 4:15 PM |
I remember that. And Orser mentioned Yuzu's sister!! that she helped out with the sorting. My ears really pricked up because you so seldom hear any mention of her (or his dad.) I found this translation of something Yuzuru said after Worlds: “I want to get 4Lz back first. After that I will attempt 4F and then 4A."
So he wants to win more than the 4A - I think at a press conference or something, Nathan was saying edge jumps vary more depending on the hardness or softness of the ice, and Yuzuru talked a lot about the ice conditions in Saitama - and the difference between the short and long programs in the softness of the ice. Also that he couldn't get space in the warm-up for the short to land his 4S.
Anyway, you're right R220. It's his business and certainly none of mine. I'm just interested in what he'll do next.
I'm glad Tuk at least gets WTT.

R222 I wonder how Tuk would have fared at these Worlds if she was sent instead of Med?
by Anonymous | reply 223 | March 26, 2019 7:21 PM |
R222 I don't understand why he got it in his head that he needs the lutz or even weirder the flip when all he needed to do to win was to land both his quads salchow. I understand not liking the risk of having a lower bv to begin with but trying to get back the 4lz with the burden it takes on his ankle and the high risk is really a wrong move imo. He might worsen things to the point his dream of landing the quad axel will be impossible to reach. He should really focus on his 4s which has been a snake to him quite a few times throughout his senior career and then go for the 4a if he believes it's still achievable. The 4lz is the reason his ankle is in this state to start with. Hate that fucking jump. Hopefully now that he is back to Toronto and able to think without having a hundred cameras in his face at any time he will be able to think more calmly and reconsider all this.
by Anonymous | reply 224 | March 26, 2019 7:23 PM |
"Transition" used to be "a thing" to get more points but after this season, everything changed. I think Eteri will have her students drop transtions and difficult steps, put focus on quads and skate empty programs soon. Her student will get high scores anyway. She is great at playing with system.
About 4lz, 4F and 4A I'm always skeptical about 4A. But 4F and 4Lz are fuckin outrageous. He is thinking about 4Lz when he even can't do 3lz and his ankle is still fucked up. I don't mean to underestimate him but I don't see it happen tbh.
R224 Winning with 2 4S ?? ISU will disagree with you.
by Anonymous | reply 225 | March 26, 2019 7:27 PM |
R200 I don't blame him for wanting to get his firm ass away from Japan and the JSF as fast as possible and back to Canada when the thanks he gets from being their only medallist at this competition is stuff like complaints about his fans throwing stuffed animals on the ice.
by Anonymous | reply 226 | March 26, 2019 7:45 PM |
R225 I mean his 4s together with his 4l and 4t. If he had landed everything even with Nathan's outrageous overscoring I believe Yuzu would have won. He needs to focus on this. Also this layout may not have been the best. He did it because he absolutely wanted to do that 4t 3a element but in terms of maths it was always a risk. I'm sure he knows all this. As for the shit coming from the jsf. What can I say. Disappointed but not surprised. I wish he didn't love his country that much, so he would consider switching to Canada. Japan clearly does not deserve him. Even a lot of his Japanese fans are super passive and let him be abused without saying anything. Good thing he is in Toronto now. Tbh I'm really curious what kind of visa he has at this point given the extensive periods of time he stays there nowadays.
by Anonymous | reply 227 | March 26, 2019 8:19 PM |
R227 I agree - I don't think we'll see the 4T3A next season. As someone said upthread, we're also seeing that transitions count for shit so I'll be curious to see how Hanyu adjusts to this. The transitions contribute to the beauty and flow of his programs so I doubt he'll just do a Nathan, but I think the programs are going to be less intricate, which is such a shame. But if he learns anything from his idol Plush's career, it should be that maths is more important than pride when it comes to winning. Hopefully, he can balance both.
I wouldn't put a lot of stock into the whole 4LZ, 4F talk. Hanyu is adjusting to everything that's happened this season, so he's just thinking aloud. Remember, this is the same guy who said he wanted to be a singer when clearly he is self-conscious about his singing voice or can't sing. Hanyu can be preternaturally wise and composed, but he is also a 24 year old guy and will just say shit sometimes. I think we should give him that leeway. If Hanyu weren't limited by his injuries, I'd be so excited about next season because it sounds like he's found a purpose. But alas, he is injured, so I'm half dreading it. However this ends, have to admire his fighting spirit though - it's easy to be bold when you're young and surging; not so much when you're on the wane.

[quote] I wonder how Tuk would have fared at these Worlds if she was sent instead of Med?
R223 I really think Russia should have sent Tuk and her 3A to Worlds. I guess Sofia winning Europeans screwed up the plan. And from what I hear, TAT was the reason Med was chosen over Tuk. Oh well, a lot will change next year. It'll be exciting to see the Russian juniors move up - but sad that Tuk may not hang in there. But if she could stabilize her 3A and land it in the GPs, maybe she could nudge the Zagmed machine out of the way.

[quote] Hopefully now that he is back to Toronto and able to think without having a hundred cameras in his face at any time he will be able to think more calmly and reconsider all this.
Yep I hope so too. Several times, he said he needed to gauge his health, especially the ankle, as he goes forward, and he said that right after losing - so hopefully, he'll be even more pragmatic as some time passes. I'm pretty new to skating but haven't there been a lot of cases where stars don't know when to leave and the end is sad - Mao? didn't Weir try to make a comeback? It must be hard to say goodbye.
BUT Yuzu really loves his fans - you'd think he could bring more joy to them by doing a lot of shows, not just in Japan, but internationally? And he does love the artistry side of skating so there's so much more he could do - other than mess that foot up so much that he can't even do shows...
Well, I said it was none of my business and I need to remember that lol. He's done a pretty damned good job of planning things so far, even as a kid.
by Anonymous | reply 233 | March 26, 2019 9:06 PM |
Some people don't like the Poohs? Lol, well, they'll have to deal with them unless they forbid throwing anything on the ice at all. I agree with r210, they're iconic.
Even if Yuzu asks his fans to donate to some charity drive, the result will be that they'll donate and then they'll bring and throw Poohs anyway. Fans know very well that Yuzu doesn't keep them, but they want to show a visible sign of their adoration in that very moment, and Poohs are the way to do it. It doesn't matter that they'll get cleared off in five minutes and get shipped off to the nearest hospital, what matters is that Yuzu will see them. You can't exactly achieve the same effect with donations. And it must be Poohs. Anyone can get a stuffed toy, Poohs are just for Yuzu.
by Anonymous | reply 234 | March 26, 2019 9:14 PM |
The whole pooh debate is so fucking mean spirited. I've been to many competitions and have never thrown a stuffy in my life, but it's really fun to see the little kids and older women getting all excited. Some people attach letters and thoughtful gifts and have a bag full of them for each skater. It's dumb that this is even an issue.
by Anonymous | reply 235 | March 26, 2019 9:19 PM |
Re: Poohgate. Even if the JSF/Raf/ISU/USFS wants to forbid Poohs from being thrown on the ice in toto, I can guarantee that fanyus would quickly find a way to circumvent that and still manage to flood the arena with Poohs without actually throwing them. They underestimate the power of the frau.
by Anonymous | reply 236 | March 26, 2019 9:25 PM |
Hanyu likely returned to Canada right away because he has to be back in Japan soon next month. He has to attend a ceremony (which will be livestreamed) for a new monument in Sendai on April 20 and there may be other events he’s obligated to attend because the emperor is abdicating on April 30. He also has to submit a medical report to withdraw from WTT by the 28th or 29th and maybe needed to get it from someone in Toronto. (He originally intended to do WTT.) He can’t rely on the public rinks and facilities in Japan, especially right now when schools are closed for their spring holiday.
From what I understand, Raf had asked the ISU to adjust the performance times to account for the Pooh cleanup and he was assured it wouldn’t be a problem. But I don’t think that has anything to do with the twitter comment. r209 summarized it well. The tweeter is an anti and Akihisa Nagashima VP never retweeted or responded to such comments before, and never spoke up when fans of other skaters were interfering with Hanyu’s warmups at competitions. The pooh issue at WC was also the ISU/JSF’s responsibility, and his wording made it sound like it wasn’t.
Nagashima is a member of the lower house of the Diet and represents the 21st district of Tokyo (the suburbs). He’s technically independent, but recently started his own parliamentary faction called “Mirai Nippon” (Future Japan). He used to be the policy chairman of Kibou no Tou, a conservative party, but was originally a longtime member of the Democratic Party. He got in trouble a few years ago tweeting about the need to “Japanize” second, third generation kids of foreign residents. (People on both sides took issue with “Japanize.”) I don’t know what his connection to figure or speed skating is or if there is one. Even though they don’t share the same political affiliations, Hashimoto supposedly recommended him to the fed.
r198 For a second there, I thought I was imagining things.

I should mention, Mao ubers hate Nagashima since he was the Vice Minister of Defense while the Democratic Party was in power (the ultra-right think they're anti-Japanese Korean lovers). On top of that, his background is in Korean foreign affairs and he's encouraged Japan and South Korea to work together to deal with North Korea. It'll be interesting to see if those ubers will be doing a 180 with this recent development.

In other news, Jun Hwan posted more tcc team pictures on his insta and no surprise here Yuzu looks the prettiest. He puts the girls to shame (not that it was very difficult, sorry Med and Gabby fans). He really needs to do a cat theme gala program.

Is Zagitova injured? I'm surprised to see Sofia going to WTT in her place (I know Med has the hip problem).

If Tuk was at her best, she probably would've been second at worlds based on how everyone skated. That's a big if, though, we really have no idea how she would've performed.
by Anonymous | reply 249 | March 27, 2019 10:13 AM |
I don't think Tuk would've been on the podium, especially if she fell on the 3a. Judges don't really award her the same GOE as with other skaters.

R250, I agree that without the 3axel she wouldn't have gotten a medal.

I never understand this "if X were there, they would have gotten 2nd place for sure!" You can't possibly be sure about that. There are so many factors that can affect performances & the standings, and a lot of scoring hijinks that happen at Worlds. You can't take anything for granted, except for P/C winning, perhaps.

R245 I always forget that Hanyu and Jason Brown are the exact same age. Hanyu looks twenty years younger. Junhwan is adorable. R253 I was going to say, he didn't seek out anyone in the gala photo to be lifted which was unusual. Guess he hasn't lost his touch or his penchant for being a princess.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | March 27, 2019 1:24 PM |
R255 According to Xinyu's post, it went like this:
'When they met, Yuzu said directly "It's time to take photos! Do it as before!"'
Also he mentioned that Yuzu is a bit heavier than 2 years ago which seriously he must have weighted nothing at the time given how skinny he is at the moment (at least compared to a few months ago).

R268 Oh please, how can she compare Yuzu's situation at the time with Nathan now. No one is bullying Nathan, if anything Yuzu is still the mistreated one while Nathan is hyper favoured even by Yuzu's own fed which doesn't give 2 shits about their super star. People have been complaining about the outrageous overscoring because it was that ridiculous not to hate on Nathan personally. Honestly that account is a pain. I guess it's ran by a teenager and I would be hypocritical if I said anything about her extreme thirst posts but the thing is that she does all these gay innuendos and fanfics but the moment homophobes start their bullshit like it was the case a few weeks ago, she doesn't take a stand and just call it drama. It's all about shipping for her but real homos it seems she could care less about. She also very often post factually wrong information and it's getting on my nerves that such a braindead teenage fangirl has that many followers who will not question whatever she posts.

R268 Maybe it's just his personality, but I think that's why he makes it a point to be a gracious winner/loser. The skating generation before him (not just Japanese, but all of them) were total cunts to each other. Fun to watch, but in this social media age, it would be ugly and harmful.

R272 She's saying Nate's being bullied? Puhlease. NA are uniformly orgasming all over my tl over him. People are treating the WC win as some kind of vindication for all of Nate's hype pre-2018 Olys. The NA media and fans are all in lock step, while Hanyu had/has members of his own federation against him, fans from his own country disrupting his practices and harassing him, older JPN skaters dissing him. The NA may be ready to crown the next king and are rallying around Nathan, but I think the most intense Hanyu hatred comes from JPN.

So I'm guessing Hanyu is putting the 4A to rest right now to concentrate on 4Lz and 4F? ( sorry if this was brought up already) I don't think we'll be seeing 4A this coming season like he said. Things have changed again. Does anyone here think he can even land a 4A? I don't want to have doubts but I'm trying to be realistic too. I don't know what the impact on the ankle would be for a 4A. I'm thinking big though.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | March 27, 2019 6:59 PM |
More fodder for you Xinzuru shippers. LOL. Personally don't see it, but it's amusing. Hanyu really gets shipped with everyone, including mascots:
"the fact that xinyu used 灵犀的默契 caught me super offguard bc it’s a very deep phrase right there so let me break it down. 灵犀 (líng xī) is like having 2 hearts being connected or resonating as one, sth like singularity (usually for couples but best friends can use it too)....默契 (mò qì) itself means understanding between (usually 2) people whereby you dont need any words to communicate (hence 默, silent) aka sth like soulmates. A very deep and unexplainable emotional connection."

by Anonymous | reply 291 | March 27, 2019 8:50 PM |
R289 Raf calls his students by their last names, so her name is literally one syllable and even includes a vowel. He's entertaining and honest but she's 16 and training abroad. I think he should have been more careful in speaking about her to the press.
R290 I don't think any of us think Xinyu is gay. Just a slow news day today so people are fucking around.

by Anonymous | reply 293 | March 27, 2019 9:30 PM |
R277 I avoid American media precisely for this reason...they are so misinformed and arrogant, I can't take more than 5 seconds of it. I haven't been keeping up with CBC even though I'm Canadian, so I didn't know our media is also so fully onboard with the Nathan orgasming; although I am not in the least bit surprised because whatever the USA does, we will follow since we have zero backbone and are suck ups. I don't mind Nathan getting a celebration for his win, but to act like he's the only person who's ever won a gold medal or done figure skating or to make beating Hanyu the event of the century is just so tiring.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | March 27, 2019 11:24 PM |
Hanyu got the same senseless bump when he burst onto the scene as well. In 2013, he had poor posture, stamina, and barely got 8s in components. Then in Sochi, despite two falls, he was equaling Patrick Chan in PCS and getting 9s. I didn't see anyone complaining about it, though, because they stanned for Hanyu. But now that another upstart is getting the same treatment, you're all yelling bloody murder. So yeah, complain about Nathan, but complain about Hanyu too. His programs are compelling and he is awe-inspiring, but does he objectively deserve 9.50-10.00 in skating skills? in program composition? absolutely not. But of course, since Hanyu is a living legend, one cannot critique him, just like Yuna and Kwan were supposed to be immune from criticism.

Just kidding I don't think he went back to Toronto to train but likely to check up on his ankle and have some peace. So I read that Medvedeva wants to do Memoirs of a geisha next season. I'm not one to complain about cultural appropriation but that piece is overdone even by Asian skaters and seriously what more could she bring to it with her nonexistent artistry.

by Anonymous | reply 320 | March 28, 2019 9:09 AM |
R319 I don't think it's going to be an issue for someone like Trusova. And anyway even if the quadster girls lose a bit of steam at some point I don't see how Medvedeva could beat a clean Kostornaia who already has 10 times the grace and artistry. And if Jsf stops being stupid and starts pushing their ladies Kihira will also be a serious threat. Honestly I don't like Med but props to her for not giving up.
by Anonymous | reply 321 | March 28, 2019 9:12 AM |
R321 I agree Kostornaia is already so ahead artistically. I'm not a huge fan of Medvedeva either bad I'm even more skeptical with her future memoirs of a geisha program. But she's been brave this season. On the contrary I like Kihira and I wish she could land that 3A more consistently. Still she was robbed during world. Giving that much GOE to Med for a flutz is rude...
by Anonymous | reply 322 | March 28, 2019 9:24 AM |
I'm still not over Alina defying all odds against her: puberty, height growth (8cm in less than a year), injury, the pressure of being an OGM and having a streak of bad perfs, huge competition at her home rink etc. and still surviving all this with pure grit and endurance and getting that World gold in such a way. I really like that girl and I hope that Eteri will treat her right from now on. At least now she has nothing to prove anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 323 | March 28, 2019 9:25 AM |
R320 You can’t have singles or doubles as a solo jump in the short. Any of those will get invalidated.
by Anonymous | reply 324 | March 28, 2019 9:29 AM |
R323 I think Eteri already changed the way she treated her compared to before. I really respect Alina a lot. I don't always agree with the score even tho she deserves the win. But she went through so much, she's a real fighter!!! When I think about all the hate she got and still gets... 🤢
by Anonymous | reply 325 | March 28, 2019 9:31 AM |
R323 Zag's grit and tenacity impresses me too. She's joined a small club of female skaters who've won titles pre and post-puberty now. I know her programs aren't always the most pleasing to the eye, but as a former skater I'm wildly impressed by the sheer complexity and intricacy of what she puts on the table. Her Carmen is almost like an ice dance routine with triple-triple combinations.
It's going to be tough for the Russians next season with the 3As turning senior. Zag could follow in Tuk's footsteps and miss the team as defending world champion. I'm skeptical Med can rotate quads with her low jumps but can't blame her for trying given the field. Tuk has the triple axel but not the Russian fed backing. Sofia is fun to watch, but she's likely to be an afterthought unless she can seriously up her technical difficulty. Like Med she has low jumps that will be hard to add additional rotations to.
by Anonymous | reply 326 | March 28, 2019 9:54 AM |
I find it completely ridiculous that fanyus are now scared of posting videos of his perfs on YouTube because they will get their account suspended. The targeted deleting spree because of that shitty Korean (?) broadcast channel a few months ago was completely over the top and fans should not stand for it but just keep creating multiple accounts and keep reposting things. If you want visibility for the sport you can't just rely on links to Google drive which only a limited number of very motivated people will look for. I hate broadcasting companies so fucking much. If someone is not monetizing their video and it's posted after the program was aired how does that in any way create a lack in revenue for them. If anything by doing that they are actively killing the possible interest from younger generations who anyway don't watch tv anymore, and can expect their ratings to go down. There were dozens of videos of Yuzu's best performances with millions views and now all you can find apart from the Olympics ones are fanmade clips of him sitting on his butt. It's disheartening.
by Anonymous | reply 327 | March 28, 2019 9:57 AM |
R326 Yes, I was rewatching her Carmen fs at Worlds and the amount of transition and complex steps or elements preceding her jumps is impressive. US stans need to shut the fuck up about Nathan and have a good look at someone who actually is deserving of her huge scores for the most part. Yes she doesn't have the best posture or speed but she is really doing so much throughout the entire program. I also really like her attitude. Super humble, hard working and focused. Doesn't create sns drama in her off time like some others but just wants to spend time with her cute dog and cat. I hope she gets even more of those sweet yens now through all her endorsements.

Got a link TV live stream? I'm more interested in seeimg how Andrew Torgashev does. He has great skating but hardly lands his jumps, but maybe once he's over his leg or foot injury, he could be a great all around skater.
JDC, we appreciate you sharing the dirt. So, do you know-- Why is Mura wearing a new wedding ring? Was he really divorced already but waiting til after he retired to take off his ring? Is Midori Ito never married? How does Fumie Suguri afford all her fancy travels? Seems like she likes flashing the flesh and acting like a 20 year old on instagram. Has the dirt on Kozuka died down? Are 2nd tier skaters like Rika Hongo and Ryuju Hino retiring? I don't see them getting any better. Will Chris Reed find another partner and keep going for Japan in his 30s? The lack of pairs and ice dancers in Japan is a head scratcher. Like no one is interested at all.

Bringing in all that attention and those sweet bucks to the fat cats, yet his fed and the ISU by large still treat him like dirt.

I always wonder what life is like for the retired Reed kids in Japan when I see Cathy Reed doing interviews for the ISU. They grew up fully Americanized but renounced their US citizenships at 18 since Japan doesn't allow dual nationality. What's life like for them in Japan once their skating careers end? They at least speak the language, I suppose.

Only Cathy lives in Japan. She works at Kansai University Skating Club with Hamada and Tamura
Chris is still based in US, I think
I was actually surprised when during the Ice Dance competition, I realized Alison is only 24 years old. I thought she was older...I mean, I remember her when she was Georgian at 2010 Olympics...

On Boyang Jin's thread at GS, there was talk of an incident at one of his practices at Worlds - that was reported in some tweets (link to a Japanese one)
"Several peoople on twitter mentioned they saw someone in the same fs op group as Boyang was firstly shouting to him and then (possibly intentionally) blocking his route." "Didn't mention who… Only Lazukin, Aymoz and Brezina. People on twitter said this individual came rushing towards Boyang, almost bumped into him and then shouted at him close to his ears. Then when it was Boyang's turn, he was always on Boyang's path. Also described Boyang as disturbed towards the end."

Trusova scored almost 177 for her FS only at a domestic comp few days ago. TES 104, 4T and 4Lz landed. She got insane height on the 4T. But her skating degressed and looked more laboured.

It was degressed before. It is even worse? Doesn't matter. She will ge given huge PCs, anyway. They know that.

R337 The Olympic Twitter and IG account also put up a "who's your favourite figure skater" thing with Zag, Med, Hanyu, Tursy, Chen and Zhou, and you can guess who got a majority of the votes. Vincent Zhou managed to give his answer on IG and said "Definitely not #6 (his own number).

But has a non-figure skater and a non-field hockey player ever risen to such iconic heights in both sports as Itsuki Uno? What sport will he not conquer next?

mariahsk8rbell I’m happy to be back home after two good skates at World Championships and a season that I’m really proud of. I want to thank my family, fans and friends, Rafael and Vera Arutunian and U.S. Figure Skating for their support last week. As I told Eunsoo in Japan, the incident at practice was very unfortunate and I meant absolutely no harm. Our training environment is professional and supportive, and I’ve never changed locker rooms or training times or anything like that. The comments that my friends, family and I received on social media were hateful and disturbing and hopefully this situation raises awareness and causes people to think twice before hitting ‘tweet’ or ‘post.’ I learned a lot about my inner strength last week, and I’m excited to continue to train in the lead up to Beijing in 2022.

R356 Huh, interesting she didn't apologize for cutting Lim and that she said "I've" never changed locker rooms etc. Still possible that Lim was the one who had to change. I guess I find it odd that ATS isn't fighting back and has gone completely silent after everything they alleged.
[quote]The comments that my friends, family and I received on social media were hateful and disturbing and hopefully this situation raises awareness and causes people to think twice before hitting ‘tweet’ or ‘post.’
I wonder if that's why she left the comments open for days, figuring that whatever actually happened people would be appalled by the threats. Nicely played, Mariah.

R356 The thing is that even if it was an accident it resulted in Eunsoo having a hole in her leg and bleeding. The least you can do in such case if you aren't a complete asshole is still apologize for hurting the person even if unintentionally. The fact that she didn't do that shows that she is not a nice person more than the act itself.

At the end of the gala last Sunday, Gabby skated from some distance away so she could be holding hands with Yuzuru in that line when they all bow together and skate to say goodbye to the crowd. I don't remember her ever doing anything like that before. Do you think she's jealous of Med? Not that Med is taking selfies much with Hanyu, but... well, anyway, maybe it's just to get herself in photos with him so she can post them and get likes, follows or whatever, as you say R382.

R383 those pictures scream "attention". I don't know what she could be jealous of about Med, being publicly rejected with "I have nothing to do with her". In my opinion she wants a small piece of the spotlight too. I don't even think med and hanyu are even that close.

You good fraus here complain that JSF treat Hanyu badly but at least he has enough clout to slap his medical certificate on the table and tell them, regretfully, to fuck off, and they will. R400 because WTT falls under Priority rule
"ISU Members with Skaters who place within the first ten places at any ISU Championships and who continue in the following season to participate in Skating competitions and/or exhibitions as eligible Skaters, shall have the obligation, when entering or authorizing the participation of such Skaters in Skating competitions and/or exhibitions, to give first priority to participation of such Skaters in those ISU Events which are the subject of ISU television and commercial contracts as notified to ISU Members. ISU Members who fail to comply with the above obligation, and Skaters who refuse to participate in such ISU Events, without medical or other justified reasons, shall be subject to sanctions under the relevant Rules."

R398 I'm guessing this is one of the many reasons why they aren't fawning over him like he's their lord and savior like so many are complaining about. He can and actually will tell them to fuck the hell off. And probably not just for things like this. I'm sure Uno's condition would have warranted him a medically-sanctioned withdrawal but I don't think he's in the same position to be able to. Poor guy. But well, debts must be repaid and all. If having a Fed behind your back means shit like this, Hanyu's team may have taken the tougher, but ultimately smarter route. I'm hoping the ladies not being properly backed this year means they are taking the same page off his books.
by Anonymous | reply 402 | March 29, 2019 11:06 AM |
R398 Uno is actually known for being a bull and doing multiple unnecessary competitions in a year.
With how his outing at Worlds went, I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to do WTT to try to end his year on a good note in Japan. Hanyu went on to do WTT in the 2015 season when Javi won his first world title, despite just returning from an ankle problem and surgery months prior.
Although it's just a silly competition, it is ISU sanctioned and beating Chen there in the SP or FS can help Uno's confidence. Uno ubers were just statisfied when his combined scores at WTT 2017 beat Hanyu's despite that they were teammates and combined totals didn't even matter.

Brennan has a new article out on Coughlin. Here is he most interesting tidbit: "In the Jackson County (Mo.) medical examiner investigative report, medical investigator Christina Hawkins wrote that Coughlin’s family told her Coughlin “had been depressed because of false allegations."
“The subject is an Olympic figure skater who was currently trying to get a commentator position with the U.S. Olympic Committee,” Hawkins wrote. “He was competing for the position with another person. This person made false allegations, which resulted in the subject getting suspended from all correspondence and activities.” The report does not name the other person.
Any guesses on who the person was?
by Anonymous | reply 417 | March 29, 2019 1:10 PM |
And Brennan wonders what TV slot they are talking about...
"Coughlin had been a commentator for the now-defunct Ice Network, but that role ended well before his suspension due to potential conflict of interest concerns when he became chair of the International Skating Union’s Athletes Commission and a member of the ISU Single and Pair Skating Technical Committee.
It’s not clear what new television job he might have been seeking, or with whom he might have been competing. There are no figure skating commentating jobs within the USOC itself.
Coughlin’s agent, Tara Modlin, did not reply Thursday afternoon to calls and text messages seeking comment about the Coughlin family’s accusations.
Reached on the phone, Coughlin’s father, Michael Coughlin, said, “I haven’t got much to say to you,” and hung up.

Glad that WTT gives skaters an opportunity to shine and do better thsn they did at worlds, like Keegan and Nam. Chartrand never seems to be able to do a clean program. She's lucky Osmond is gone.
As for Egna trophy, anyone know what time in the US they'd be having the men's competition. I only care to see Andrew T and Alexei K. thanks for the link.
by Anonymous | reply 437 | March 29, 2019 5:36 PM |
Chartrand actually skated a really good long program at Canadian nationals, but even there she got marked for a few URs.

by Anonymous | reply 444 | March 29, 2019 7:01 PM |
Hanyu did Continues With Wings while he was still recovering after the Olympics. He could still be a part of ice shows by being the mc or having a fun talk or showing off segment, which I actually found made it more entertaining in between the skates and programs. Bet a Ciontu 2.0 would sell out.
by Anonymous | reply 445 | March 29, 2019 7:07 PM |
Someone asked JPN women who they want to sleep with. Hanyu came in second, with comments like: "I want to see his naked body because his lines are beautiful." Okay, which one of you whores is the 20 something business owner?
Stay for the part where he talks about people JPN women do NOT want to sleep with. #1 choice was an actor. Some woman said: "I can't. Biologically." LMAO

Brennan has a follow-up Coughlin article today, this time with comments from the victims' attorney:
Attorney John Manly, who represents more than 200 victims in the Larry Nassar gymnastics sexual abuse case, told USA TODAY Sports Friday afternoon that he also represents three women who were minors when the late figure skater John Coughlin allegedly sexually abused them.
“My clients and I want to make this clear: John Coughlin used his position of trust and power and prominence in figure skating to sexually abuse multiple minors, three of whom I represent,” Manly said in a telephone interview one day after a USA TODAY Sports story reported that Coughlin’s family told a medical investigator that he committed suicide after he was falsely accused of sexual misconduct by someone they said he was competing with for a TV commentating job.
“His family can create any narrative they want to create,” Manly said, “but U.S. Figure Skating knows the truth, and for them to allow a story to circulate that a false accusation led to Mr. Coughlin’s decision to take his own life is despicable. It’s a mixture of denial, ignorance and in some instances, malice.”
---
Asked if he was planning legal action on behalf of his clients, whom he did not name, Manly said, “My clients are going to pursue justice so this never happens to another little girl again."
by Anonymous | reply 448 | March 29, 2019 7:46 PM |
R448 This is the first time I've heard someone go on record to say the abuse involved "little girl[s]" and not just minors. Also that there are more than three victims. Hopefully, the truth with out soon if they've hired a lawyer.
by Anonymous | reply 449 | March 29, 2019 8:01 PM |
r448 good! Hope they finally tell their side of the story. Maybe USFS will be smarter than US gymnastics and be proactive in finding out the truth and changing their culture.

R454 Did someone inspect the ig story to see if Mama H is there too or is she still in Sendai getting laid? DL needs to know this.
by Anonymous | reply 463 | March 29, 2019 9:56 PM |
R460 She is the only psycho. Couldn't handle that Alina's instagram was growing so much faster than her so as usual had to ship herself with Yuzu and then pretend she is harassed by antis by picking one negative comment out of thousands of her rabid shippers calling her queen to create a bit of drama. I used to only find her annoying but more and more I actually find her scary with how fake and manipulative she seems to be.
by Anonymous | reply 464 | March 29, 2019 10:01 PM |
R463 Mama Hanyu should stay in Sendai and take care of her marital duties and leave Yuzu with me his adoptive papa bear.

by Anonymous | reply 468 | March 29, 2019 10:14 PM |
R464 I second that! Any sane person would brush it off or ask to stop shipping but not her. She is very desperate for attention. And as you pointed out Alina does nothing on her Instagram and gains followers faster than she does even with her TCC picture. She's the scariest of all!

by Anonymous | reply 473 | March 29, 2019 10:27 PM |
R469 Yeah, she always does this shit. For instance she could reply to that girl that Yuzu is her friend and she has a right to take a picture with him but no, systematically she will respond in a way that is ambiguous, like in that radio interview in Russia a few months ago. That's super creepy given how straightforward in his rebuttal Yuzu himself was last year.
In other news can you believe that Yuzu is even getting some hate from his Japanese antis for going back to Toronto so fast after Worlds and staying only one week in Japan. According to them he should stay and get treatment in the national health centre for athletes and if he doesn't it means he has something to hide. Can you imagine being hated and harassed constantly in your country so you spend less and less time there but then your haters become butthurt because they can't reach you. When will Canada adopt him already.
by Anonymous | reply 474 | March 29, 2019 10:29 PM |
R473 never had talent, never will. Next season FP is going to be a delight... Russia only needed a new champion when they decided to overcome her generously from her first year in senior.

The worst thing that I don't believe any of you are 12, but this is shit that belongs to one direction fandom. The hysteria and outrage and everything worst piled on a girl who happened to be in contact with the boy that sets your heart aflutter. Ugly, attention whore, overdressed, badly dressed, should say something, shouldn't say anything, should say something different, desperate, no talent, stay away from him, etc, ad nauseam.
Grow the fuck up.

by Anonymous | reply 479 | March 29, 2019 10:53 PM |
R476 You are the one who needs to chill. I would call you white knight but you are obviously a frau like everyone else here. As for Yuzu I could care less which girl or boy he will fuck or marry. I find him gorgeous but there is nothing sexual about it, even with his beautiful bubble butt. I just always had a bad vibe about Med even before she moved to Toronto. Obviously I don't know her personally but what she projects of herself leads me to believe she is quite fake especially in comparison to more natural and drama free people around her. And I feel that about her even when she does her PR with her Bulgarian twink friend or poses with Mr Ge. Maybe one day I'll be proved wrong but until now I haven't seen much to think otherwise.

I feel sorry for Zag, she's harassed everyday by not only antis but also her coach, TAT and co and other big names of Russian FS but she's just silent and does her job. [R499]Cue cringey photo of Javi and his Spanish non-skater/non-celebrity girlfriend in 3, 2, 1...
Being Javi’s favorite human girl (because Effie the cat will always be his favorite girl) must be exhausting, especially if she’s never been in a spotlight. Miki was able to handle it because she’s no stranger to drama (thanks, JDC, for the deeper dive!). Regarding Javi’s current girl, is tapping that glorious ass on the reg worth the Insta skater silliness and AO3 weirdness (including being written into fic - by her real name - as an obstacle to Yuzuvier’s happily ever after)?
And most importantly, what does she think about the state of his facial hair? Because right now, he’s exceeded the snacktastic amount of scruff and has a creepy stache and anemic rest-of-goatee.
And how is Raya still training at TCC? Family money, or a rich Canadian boyfriend? Or has Spanish fed been funding him (and - for a while - Sonia) to be there? I thought they barely gave support to Fernández to train abroad, and he was the superior talent by far. (Is Fernández still in debt from all his years away from Spain? Living in Toronto - and before that, Bergen County, NJ - isn’t cheap.)
by Anonymous | reply 506 | March 30, 2019 2:36 AM |
R506 Yup, you called it...he just put up a "straight" photo on IG with a cringy caption to match.

. Med is weird. I understand she is 19 but seriously she is acting like a 12 year old. I then look at zagitova who is younger than Med. Med needs to grow up. I was ok with her skating before I realized what a weirdo she was.
by Anonymous | reply 508 | March 30, 2019 3:24 AM |
R493 Fun fact about the poster who made that comment on FSUniverse - someone back in thread 15 cut and pasted one of her posts on FSU; then, someone else chimed in to say she is a "crazy bitch" and "certifiable." Other things might have been said as well. I don't think the language we use to we talk about skaters is the only thing she's miffed about.
by Anonymous | reply 509 | March 30, 2019 3:56 AM |
R509 She obviously loves it here and lurks since she admitted to knowing we have filthy-ass mouths. Also how could she have known about the shit that was written about her without having to regularly come here and read through all our posts? She was just jealous she couldn't join in on the fun and talk about how slutty Hanyu can be.
by Anonymous | reply 510 | March 30, 2019 4:31 AM |
I missed a lot while getting a life!! Here is one of the few place we can talk about whatever we want without being moderate or else, let us have that R476 :) no one is bullying her. Not like we leave hate comments on her Instagram R502 what was the rumor about? R508sure she doesn't look all mature anymore. Imo Med is wrecking for too much attention, can't blame a 19yo girl living with social medias for that. But her behaviour is quite despicable if you ask me. I'm glad she's not on trend in Japan anymore. (No one recognise her in the street anyway) her instastories are kinda creepy too lately. Boasting about her new lipstick from fan and bitching on the next video she wants attention. I thinks he has more and more difficulties to hide her true nature after acting all "cute and nice" for years. R481 why speaking freely about our opinion always ends up with the " you're jealous blablabla"? There's nothing to be jealous about, I personally feel good in my shoes. Having an opinion and criticism isn't related to jealousy or maybe you have issues with yourself is you can relate those things together.(no hate here)

R516 Shushhh. He is comfortable because there is no tension. When he is next to me, passion is white hot. That is why he stand so far away and often with person between us - love burns, and not in way where you have to take pills every few months for itchy warts, like Eteri Georgievna.

R518 My necklace says HM. I found it in bargain bin at H&M. I showed to Yuzuru and said, is fate, no? I bought same one for him and he gave me sweetest smile. But for some reason, he keeps forgetting it in cafeteria trash. My Yuzuru has so much on mind, I think, like whether is okay to make sweet love to training mate. My dearest is always thinking for my reputation.

All joking aside, Med does seem high maintenance and needy though. Orser already confirmed she monopolized all his time in the summer to the detriment of other skaters and it sounded like he had to literally walk her through everything as if she didn't know a damn thing. I'd understand if she was really young and hadn't had much experience, but we're talking a Russian Eteri skater who already medalled at the Olympics...why did she need to be led like a child through how to train? Am I missing something?
by Anonymous | reply 524 | March 30, 2019 7:31 AM |
One part of her necklace is definitely a cross and the other who knows...photos never clearly show it. I'm with R519...she just wanted her tits on display. Or else the necklace says, "I love Yuzu" or "I'm carrying Yuzu's child" or whatever, I really don't know.

R524 she was too used to be the main attraction and focus at Sambo and in Russia that she had a hard time being the newbie surrounded by other talents lol too needy she is of course. by Anonymous | reply 526 | March 30, 2019 8:38 AM |
R516 I think it's because they have known each other for a long time. Same way he is comfortable around Team Japan girls. He used to be like that with Med as well but then she had to go full creepy stalker, so I understand the robotic over hands he pulls on almost every one nowadays. Defense mechanism arising from trauma.
R512 Ge is such a creep, seriously.
by Anonymous | reply 527 | March 30, 2019 9:28 AM |
R527 He used to be comfortable around girls. It's until around 2016 he started to do hand manner. I think after romantic rumors he was more careful when being around girls. It is gettting worse to the point that he pulls it on everyone nowadays.
And who can be comfortable around people who were rumored to have gone to Canada to fuck with you ? Not to say that he hasn't been aware of her creepy Russian ubers for whom a normal 2- shot is enough to visualise him fucking with her, share it on SNS and welcomed by other fans, media and by their fav.

R528 I don't remember seeing pics of him touching her waist or anything but I'm not a shipper so that detail could have slipped without notice for me lol Maybe he realised a bit late how she feeds the rumors or answers very ambiguously. He may have come across pretty dirty stuff on the internet too, who knows... The older she got the creepier she got so he could possibly try not to feed any rumor when he has nothing to do with her as he said last year ( he light have broke her heart that day lol)

R528 Yeah, he started doing it with men as well, even pulled it with Javi. Actually on most of the pictures with guys, he stands closer to them than with women but his hand doesn't touch their back either. It's freaking sad that he thinks he needs to put a physical wall with people because of crazy ass bitches. I just read a Japanese fan comment on instagram lamenting that he is standing too close to Shiyue in this picture. Like really, you get another photo of him queening it up and the only thing you take away from it is that his hips are somehow touching a human being of the vagina variety. With fans like that who needs antis.

He used to be comfortable around girls till he tried it with me. I tell you.
by Anonymous | reply 533 | March 30, 2019 10:18 AM |
Anyway props to Xinyu/Shiyue for making him feel comfortable every time they meet and letting him be the princess he always wants to be.
by Anonymous | reply 534 | March 30, 2019 10:22 AM |
R532 It is how he stands, it has nothing with whether he is close to them or not. He usually leans on one leg when taking photo.
by Anonymous | reply 535 | March 30, 2019 10:31 AM |
R531 Exactly.
by Anonymous | reply 536 | March 30, 2019 11:38 AM |
Does anyone have an idea what the white box he was holding in the R532 pic could be? I think I saw him holding it on other pictures he took during the banquet.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | March 30, 2019 12:52 PM |
R532 I just clicked on that and saw the other picture with attention whore Misha Ge standing between them with his tongue out. Will he never go away?
by Anonymous | reply 538 | March 30, 2019 12:55 PM |
R538 Probably never unfortunately. Dude is very persistent. Shiyue mentions in her post that he passed behind them just as they were taking the 2nd picture (meaning he was not supposed to be there). Yep, complete coincidence and nothing to do with him being the world biggest attention whore. Poor Yuzu probably did not even realize the creep was behind him.
by Anonymous | reply 539 | March 30, 2019 1:02 PM |
R537 I don't know. It could be a predent he received or something. Looks like a jewel box.
R539 he has no shame. Here I thought he would call damn after the incident on his Instagram and all, but no. He's clinging onto Yuzu like his life depends on it. What a whore
by Anonymous | reply 540 | March 30, 2019 1:16 PM |
R540 You are a whore.
by Anonymous | reply 541 | March 30, 2019 1:19 PM |
R541 Well, Hello there, Misha or should I say Dai troll. Did you forget to take your meds again.
by Anonymous | reply 542 | March 30, 2019 1:23 PM |
I think you should take pills.
by Anonymous | reply 543 | March 30, 2019 1:25 PM |
R541 that's admirable to see some still defend an obvious creep like him.
by Anonymous | reply 544 | March 30, 2019 1:31 PM |
I dont defend anyone, loser. Why you are calling someone a whore?
by Anonymous | reply 545 | March 30, 2019 1:33 PM |
R545 ouch I wasn't the one calling him whore ;) didn't mean I think much of him. If you have issues with any message here you're welcome to leave ;)
by Anonymous | reply 546 | March 30, 2019 1:37 PM |
How could I know it? If you weren't R542 , dont talk back to me. Especially if you know shit.
by Anonymous | reply 547 | March 30, 2019 1:43 PM |
R540 Ge is annoyingly parasitic. If Orser knows what's good for his rink and skaters, he would forbid him from setting foot within a five hundred kilometre radius of Toronto. Agreed, R534, props to Shiyue and Xinyu for letting Hanyu live his best life and be the queen he is. Also, how did we lose our way here at DL? Here, let me point you in the right direction.
by Anonymous | reply 548 | March 30, 2019 1:45 PM |
What a troll, let's just leave it here.
by Anonymous | reply 549 | March 30, 2019 1:45 PM |
Ge likely will see what we are talking about him here,on DL guyssss ! He once liked a post complaining him being too loud about his collab with Med by searching his name on Twitter !!! I would be surprised if he doesn't google himself and find this place !!!
by Anonymous | reply 550 | March 30, 2019 1:48 PM |
R550 I hope he does. I encourage him to read each and every post about himself, not just once but multiple times. He needs to hear it, then cease and desist his creeptastic behavior.
by Anonymous | reply 551 | March 30, 2019 1:51 PM |
You are not better then Misha. You are stalkers
by Anonymous | reply 552 | March 30, 2019 1:55 PM |
R551 This. I hope he visits because the folks on twiter and insta are fucking clueless when it comes to his bullshit. He needs to hear it from somewhere and DL is that place.
by Anonymous | reply 553 | March 30, 2019 1:58 PM |
R551 right?! Maybe he isn't even aware of his behaviour!
R553 I'm always under the impression that on twitter or Instagram even GS people are biased and far from objective
by Anonymous | reply 554 | March 30, 2019 2:00 PM |
I stay off of DL for one day and come back to about 150 new posts, 100-ish of which are just about shitting on everything Med does. You guys are fucking disturbed. Apparently she should never post anything, for the rest of her life, because no matter what it is you twist it into something nefarious. Y'all are just as obsessed as those Korean psychos.
I thought Javi's photo with his gf's cleavage on full display was far more gross. We get it already.
by Anonymous | reply 555 | March 30, 2019 2:04 PM |
R540. Both Ge and Med are trying to cling to Hanyu. Very disturbing. The good thing is I believe Hanyu realizes this. I do think Hanyu saw or got word of what those two were doing last year. It probably made him upset and I do not think he is not close to either of them anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 556 | March 30, 2019 2:08 PM |
R548. Ah Thank you for that beautiful ass pic!
by Anonymous | reply 557 | March 30, 2019 2:10 PM |
R555 Oh look the morale brigade is back. You obviously cannot count to 100 if you believe that's the number of posts about her in this thread. And people have a right to complain about her and Misha's general creepiness. No one is calling for someone to hurt their dog, just calling them attention whores which they are. As for Javi, someone here already predicted after the pictures of his little date with Eric that he would post a super mushy photo with his girlfriend as a 'no homo' follow up. It's become a bit boring with how predictable he is with those things.
by Anonymous | reply 558 | March 30, 2019 2:11 PM |
R555 Same. I think we have a bunch of new posters. And Daitroll is running amok because I'm missing a bunch of posts. Don't mind a little Med bashing but you all have been circle jerking around the same biscuit for 100 + posts now. Where's the "you're fucking psychos" poster when we need him?
by Anonymous | reply 559 | March 30, 2019 2:21 PM |
R557 You are most welcome! We must always remember the important things in life, like ass. R554 I don't go much on GS, but I can report that on PH, they are currently debating music choices for Hanyu's programs in the upcoming season, and there is some consternation about someone's suggestion for Queen's "Death on Two Legs" due to the fact the song contains the following (very salacious) lyrics: "misguided old mule" and "now you can kiss my ass goodbye". R555 R559 I didn't know you guys were the designated DL police. So what would you like to talk about then, sweets?
by Anonymous | reply 560 | March 30, 2019 2:24 PM |
I wonder whether Yuzuru would be first in a poll 'Celebreties you want to sleep with', if the respondents were not female but male. He is like a dream twink to me, seriously. His androgyny is absolutely sinful and he knows how to use it so well...
by Anonymous | reply 561 | March 30, 2019 2:31 PM |
R561 I think the tall Korean boy in this video wouldn't mind a closer encounter with our favourite twink.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | March 30, 2019 2:40 PM |
Talking about new programs, I care more about choreo than music, I'd like him to work with other choreographers Benoit, Lambiel,...I admit Origin is disappointing and kind of a mess to me and I started to get bored of what Bourne does for Yuzuru.
by Anonymous | reply 563 | March 30, 2019 3:08 PM |
R563 I want him to try other people too, but I think it's unlikely if he's going to focus on getting more quads. Benoit for sure. I don't like Lambiel as a choreographer. What are some of the good Lambiel programs? I can't really think of any.
by Anonymous | reply 564 | March 30, 2019 3:14 PM |
I want him to skate to more Japanese music. I dream for another masterpiece like Seimei.
by Anonymous | reply 565 | March 30, 2019 3:15 PM |
R563 I disagree. Origin is great. The only formula I would change is the Ina Bauer -> hydroblade -> weird (but very difficult to do) entry into the final spin. The rest I really like. And personally I want him to keep working with both Shae and Jeffrey. They both get him and also let him have space for his own ideas while choreographing and it's obvious he adores them and reciprocally. Hopefully Jeffrey proposes something extra gay to Yuzu for next season unless he wishes to keep Otonal. That piece suits him well after all.
by Anonymous | reply 566 | March 30, 2019 3:17 PM |
I want him to drop both otonal and origin and move on afresh. Sick of having to hear about/from Plush and Johnny.
by Anonymous | reply 567 | March 30, 2019 3:26 PM |
R567 Totally agree. Those bitches gave him bad luck.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | March 30, 2019 3:30 PM |
R567 I agree. No more tribute programs. I like Otonal better of the two, could never get into Origin personally, but I want something new. That being said, I don't think he should move on to new choreographers though. I think Bourne and Buttle are fine. As R566 said he is used to working with them, and they understand his vision and what he wants in a program. We'll see, I guess. Hanyu is still an enigma as ever.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | March 30, 2019 3:34 PM |
R567 He will probably drop both programs anyway as he is very superstitious and they were tributes.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | March 30, 2019 3:38 PM |
R564 I just gave some names with whom he can consider to work. I'm not impressed with what Lambiel did for his students either ( I like Deniss FS 2017-2018 season tho). I agree that he likely will keep at least one of those two if he needs programs that he's similar with so that he can focus on quads.
R566 Well, maybe Origin isn't to my taste. Since POTO 2014, Origin is the first program which failed to hide his weakness.
by Anonymous | reply 571 | March 30, 2019 3:49 PM |
R559 Delusional idiot. You have to have multiple posters blocked, coz i have posted 2 or 3posts here since last saturday .I find it hilarious that you are jealous of that boring mom lover. Med troll was right- you re buch of jealous idiots.
by Anonymous | reply 572 | March 30, 2019 3:57 PM |
R571 That's a good point. To me, Origin just didn't seem to come easily to him...it was like he was fighting the choreography every step of the way. Funnily enough, I didn't like POTO either, mainly because I'm sick of the music. I remember reading that he picked POTO himself and Orser didn't get it, and Hanyu had to really convince him before he got the green light. Then again, Orser still doesn't seem to get anything that Hanyu does lol.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | March 30, 2019 4:02 PM |
I'd really like something Japanese too, with wild spirit like Seimei. Hanyu is artistic but I like a more fierce program for him. At least with Seimei the character suited him well imo
by Anonymous | reply 574 | March 30, 2019 4:06 PM |
R573 agreed on Origin. And I didn't like POTO either. Partly I dislike the music, partly the choreo was generic imo. But compared to D.W programs, it was better 10000× times and somehow it was choreographed fine enough to hide his weakness back then ( mostly posture issues)
by Anonymous | reply 575 | March 30, 2019 4:19 PM |
R574 Seimei was a good balance of artistic and fierce, which is why it was successful. Can he do another program equally as good without people comparing it to Seimei though? Someone made an interesting point that if he picked Japanese music again, it might appeal more to the judges since they're so old-fashioned and stuck in a narrow mindset of what they expect figure skating to look like, that it would make sense in their heads that a Japanese guy is skating to Japanese music. I mean, he's had a good run with his Japanese programs in the past. But, and this is a big but, would the judges ACTUALLY be moved to close the PCS gap between him and Nathan, all things being equal technically?
by Anonymous | reply 576 | March 30, 2019 4:23 PM |
I'd love another program like Hope & Legacy which was by far the most personal and intimate one he has done so far but unfortunately judges are (old tasteless farts) biased against soft and ethereal when it comes to men fs and he got rather low PCs for it. But still I think any program that showcases his lightness and delicacy is great because that's something so unique to him. This impression that he is half flying half floating above the ice. Seimei was great because it had both delicacy and drama but finding such a good piece isn't easy.
by Anonymous | reply 577 | March 30, 2019 4:24 PM |
R577 I hope Hanyu never ditches his skating style for the judges, no matter what scores he wants to get from them. And I want more sparkles, glitter and frills, or I hope he camps it up even higher a la Purple Pants of Sin. He needs to just continually shove it down their throats. I still love seeing the juxtaposition of his Otonal blue sparkly costume with the minimally styled but maximally boring Vera Wang shit that Nathan is forced to wear.
by Anonymous | reply 578 | March 30, 2019 4:36 PM |
I would add sexy to the list of adjectives describing Seimei. Those cross rolls he did in the step sequence are still the most seductive thing I've seen in my life.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | March 30, 2019 4:43 PM |
R578 can’t agree more
by Anonymous | reply 580 | March 30, 2019 4:44 PM |
R579 Those cross rolls were OGM worthy.
by Anonymous | reply 581 | March 30, 2019 4:46 PM |
If Hanyu changed his style in costume I'd be shocked. His style is what sets him apart from the others and probably the judges hold it against him. But it is who he is. I can't picture him wearing a Nathan like costume and I bet he can't either. I think Hanyu also likes the attention he gets from those costumes. They're beautiful.
by Anonymous | reply 582 | March 30, 2019 4:51 PM |
R578 Let's hope he won't. Yuzu with frills and pearls and bling isn't really Yuzu. I love how at each gala all the guys are dressed so boringly and then you have Yuzu looking like a pretty swan or flower.
R579 These cross rolls are still my favourite parts out of any fs program I have watched in the past 20 years. No other man could pull this off because you need his androgyny to pull off such a seduction move on the judges.
by Anonymous | reply 584 | March 30, 2019 4:55 PM |
R584 I meant 'without' not with, obviously.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | March 30, 2019 4:57 PM |
Just because we're on the subject of cross rolls, I had to find this.
by Anonymous | reply 586 | March 30, 2019 5:06 PM |
Ah the backward cross rolls. Love them too.
by Anonymous | reply 587 | March 30, 2019 5:13 PM |
R582 The thing is, even if Hanyu were to wear a Nathan-esque costume, he'd still look good in it. It'd just be like his UA practice gear, which as we know, does everything for his body.
by Anonymous | reply 588 | March 30, 2019 5:17 PM |
Hanyu is such eye candy. It’s his anime proportions and some “it” factor with his personality. Nathan, Shoma, Misha, Jason- and others just don’t have that addictive physique. It’s not even all sexual, he’s just like a piece of art....OK, go at it antis.
by Anonymous | reply 589 | March 30, 2019 5:17 PM |
R588 lol my thoughts exactly. If he were to use something like that while preforming everyone would be too distracted looking at his ass, waist, and pecs to remember the program.
by Anonymous | reply 590 | March 30, 2019 5:26 PM |
What's going on with Shoma? Why are his stans freaking out all over Twitter. I like him but not enough to look into it.

R591 All I know is he had a new costume on at the ice ahow today

R592 Thank you. Oh good I'm glad it's a positive thing then (for them).
by Anonymous | reply 593 | March 30, 2019 6:10 PM |
I don't understand Nathan's costumes. Is he trying to look "manly" in that black and white shit?
by Anonymous | reply 594 | March 30, 2019 6:45 PM |
R594 In answer to your question---Vera Wang: “These are not show costumes, but sleek, modern interpretations of athleticism.”; Nathan Chen: "I genuinely dislike sequins." (from a NYT article titled, "Why Nathan Chen Shuns Sequins"). Take what you will from this. I just read it as BORING.
by Anonymous | reply 595 | March 30, 2019 7:03 PM |
I genuinely dislike Nathan Chen's skating. It's as boring as his costumes.
by Anonymous | reply 596 | March 30, 2019 7:09 PM |
As boring as the costumes are, what bothers me more than anything is that people think Nathan has the charisma and personality to pull off something so simple. If they want to argue that Hanyu's too feminine and over-the-top in his rhinestoned costumes, then I refer them to his practice wear which is pared down to basically a Nathan costume, and STILL all eyes are on him.
by Anonymous | reply 597 | March 30, 2019 7:28 PM |
Eteri about Yuzu: “He is like a beautiful girl on ice, with soft lines. Even though his arms look somehow carelessly thrown, but it looks so natural when he does it."
by Anonymous | reply 598 | March 30, 2019 7:40 PM |
R597 My thoughts exactly. The problem now is that people are starting to "see" Nathan's charisma and artistry, a certain sophistication and transcendence that wasn't there before because of his "worldliness." I have no problem with Nathan. He is an impressive jumper. But it is such bs that the media and fans are so eager to prop him up that they are "seeing" a skater that simply isn't there (yet). You prop someone up artificially like this and they have no incentive to improve their imperfections.
R598 When was this? I don't think she would have any good things to say about him now.
