Phoenix, but soon to be Los Angeles.

It was, but spring is coming, R13. It was a long , cold winter.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 21, 2019 2:29 AM |
What is west-west? Arizona is considered Southwest.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 21, 2019 2:30 AM |
You forgot the Northeast, Op
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 21, 2019 2:30 AM |
R6 I can confirm that there are now 4 lesbians reporting to this thread
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 21, 2019 2:31 AM |
8 lesbians! I just counted!
R17, oh, you're so right. Trying to fit that "Vivian Vance" option in screws up all my polls.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 21, 2019 2:34 AM |
Why is Phoenix moving to LA?
I think even the Darfur Orphans condole Ms. Cleveland.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 21, 2019 2:35 AM |
I couldn't fit in the Pacific Northwest (I was thinking of our Portland people especially), so I put in West-West as a catch all--also for things like Idaho and the Dakotas. (That's over there, right?)
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 21, 2019 2:38 AM |
Politics for one R20. Also, LA is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
Oregon is the Pacific Northwest R21. There is no west-west. I guess people that live in California, but not in LA would have said west-west. But why did you add cities instead of keeping it regions?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 21, 2019 2:41 AM |
Idaho is considered Pacific Northwest R21. I believe the Dakotas are too. Northern California is considered Pacific Northwest. This is hurting my head.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 21, 2019 2:47 AM |
Chicago
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 21, 2019 2:48 AM |
R14, but isn't the DL meme that everyone is pouring out of LA because of real estate prices? Are you giving up living in splendor in Phoenix for a life of hideous drudgery in LA?
To R14/R22 and the rest of the world,
I added the two cities because DL seems to be overrun by New Yorkers and the Los Angelese entertainment insiders--or perhaps they're just the ones who post the most. I originally had Chicago and Miami as their own options, but couldn't fit everything else in. I had to make desperate, gut-wrenching choices...you know, for a poll.
R23 and the rest, "West-West" is sort of a joke, in the "add the next in the sequence." If you live somewhere over there, but not in the Southwest and not in LA, please pick choose "West-West." Then write in the comments where it is you are, and please tell me how awful my poll is.
Thanks!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 21, 2019 2:56 AM |
R24, hello Chicago!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 21, 2019 2:56 AM |
I wasn't making fun of your poll R25. I was going to mark west-west for Arizona, but I questioned it and it is considered southwest. Oregon and Washington could be considered west, but technically they are northwest.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 21, 2019 3:09 AM |
San Francisco Bay Area.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 21, 2019 3:12 AM |
Did you know the Dakotas are considered Midwest by the census?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 21, 2019 3:15 AM |
Hello, Bay Area!
You all must be coming home for dinner. We on the east coast are fading away.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 21, 2019 3:16 AM |
Any Norwegians? If so, how's the weather?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 21, 2019 3:18 AM |
Yup, the Dakotas are definitely a long way from the Pacific. Definitely not Pacific Northwest.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 21, 2019 3:22 AM |
R30 Hi South Florida!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 21, 2019 3:22 AM |
And that is why your poll is confusing R29. Maybe someone from the Dakota's can tell us if they feel they are Midwest or pacific northwest.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 21, 2019 3:22 AM |
Btw, a gay man not a lez.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 21, 2019 3:23 AM |
If you go by the census we have 4 regions. West, Midwest, South and Northeast.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 21, 2019 3:24 AM |
You all seem less pointlessly bitchy than your gay brethren. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But we'd have made several withering comments about flyover states and Florida by now.
Have fun!

So Cal Lesbian here... and I like to think to think I'm one of the only lesbians here (and hope our numbers here stay small) because I really appreciate coming here for the bitchiness of our gay brethren and don't want this place to ever become like the L Chat. Ugh...

by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 21, 2019 3:55 AM |
I know a few in Seattle.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 21, 2019 3:59 AM |
R32, hi guy! Welcome to our thread!
R34, I'm not sure we've ever had anyone from the Dakotas on DL. Surely, we'd have flushed them out and yapped at their behinds by now.
R37, if we make too many withering comments, we might end up as one sole lesbian.
Ladies, here's my quandary for the night--why, oh, why, are other lesbians so controlling? I have this acquaintance in my life whom I've only ever spoken to like five times, who is trying to control my life, and it's driving me up a freaking wall. She's not even single. I know she feels that since we're fellow lesbians..I don't know...that I owe her something? That's it.
I'll have a different lesbian problem tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 21, 2019 4:00 AM |
R42, you know a few lesbians in Seattle or Spartans?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 21, 2019 4:01 AM |

Four Canadians--great!
And from Quebec?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 21, 2019 4:07 AM |
R38 here. I don't know that lesbians are overall controlling. I have a great group of lesbian friends and acquaintances. Thank goodness none of them are like that. My own sister, on the other hand, is to the max. But I can ignore her.
The only one in my life who gets to be controlling is the cat.

Nova Scotia, R9.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 21, 2019 1:03 PM |
Hi, R49,
Thank you for answering. In a few of the other places I lived, I used to have a circle of lesbians friends who were lovely, jolly, low-stress, wonderful, and I loved them.
At this point in my life, where I live now, I have fallen into the clutches of a bunch of lesbians who are way too much into politics and advocacy, and are terribly stifling to those who don't want to be their volunteers or who can't clear their calendars to go running after everything they want to do. And these are people whom I don't particularly know well at all, but nevertheless feel they have the right to do this (to their lesbian acquaintances). Of course, with straight people they know, they wouldn't dare.
And I was just thinking, "Why is everything so fraught and hysterical? Why do I feel so bad around these people?"
That is all.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 21, 2019 10:34 PM |
Omg r52 - finally a lesbian that isn’t obsessed with politics/advocacy...can I presume to add animal rescue to the list??
Please say yes!
by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 22, 2019 12:29 AM |
R54, ha ha.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 22, 2019 12:36 AM |
R53, marry me! LOL, another les not into politics, advocacy and definitely not animal rescue!
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 22, 2019 2:41 AM |
You sound boring and uncaring R56.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 22, 2019 3:35 AM |
San Francisco reporting in.
I'm surprised there are this many lesbians left on DL!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 22, 2019 3:40 AM |
R52 here.
I *am* into advocacy and animal rights and all that jazz, just not to the extent that the controlling people in my life are.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 22, 2019 3:55 AM |
R57, I have found that I prefer listening and learning; there are such a huge range of topics for my interest, other than focusing on politics. I also am routinely involved in community services, but have found that I am a much more effective "worker bee".
I don't choose to be a leader in these areas any longer; it can be way too frustrating to find your group has evolved into "we know the only way/ best way" to make changes and benefit others.
I will assist and care for any injured, lost or abandoned animals. This has been part of my career and I have done so for decades. I stay away from rescue groups in general, since many are thinly disgused for-profits, borderline hoarding situations, or warehousing the rescued.
I don't think that I'm boring, and definitely not uncaring, for working in different directions and staying away from overzealous, controlling types. You are entitled to your own opinion.

5 Canadians. Which part, R63?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 23, 2019 3:36 AM |
Question: are French Canadian lesbians homophobic / gay-male hating? It seems like every other lesbian doesn't give a shit, but the frenchies are complete assholes.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 23, 2019 3:40 AM |
R65, but where have you heard that? Are their examples that we might know?
(I'm neither Canadian nor French, but just curious to ask.)
by Anonymous | reply 66 | March 23, 2019 3:43 AM |
From work. I would always get treated like shit by french canadian lesbians. Not the girlfriends, the wannabe male leader who was always two feet shorter than me.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | March 23, 2019 3:52 AM |
Could have been an isolated incident.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | March 23, 2019 3:55 AM |
What's the total count now, OP? Connecticut reporting in.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | March 23, 2019 3:58 AM |
I'm sorry, r69. We don't count people from Connecticut.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 23, 2019 4:01 AM |
But I'm Helen Lawson's pool girl! Here, look! Look,at my skimmer! That's Patty Duke head hair all over!

We're sorry, r71.
No.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | March 23, 2019 4:06 AM |
18 lesbians in total, but I think that someone from San Fran posted twice.
If there are two different San Fran posters, then the total will be 19.
And, no, I'm not counting Ina in the Hamptons.

[quote] Idaho is considered Pacific Northwest [R21]. I believe the Dakotas are too. Northern California is considered Pacific Northwest. This is hurting my head.
Idaho is considered the Pacific Northwest these days as an extension of Washington State; Dakotas I would place firmly as Midwest. I consider Northern California, everything beyond (north of) the San Francisco media market, to be part of "the northwest".
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 23, 2019 4:07 AM |
I'm just trying to be inclusive of all those people who live in the states that I always forget.

by Anonymous | reply 79 | March 23, 2019 4:14 AM |
R23 I'm a native of Northern CA (still live here), and have never heard this area referred to as the Pacific Northwest. It begins in Oregon.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | March 23, 2019 4:15 AM |
R79, actually, it ended in lots of people complaining 'bout my poll.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | March 23, 2019 4:16 AM |
There's a lot of green in that map.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 23, 2019 4:17 AM |

I better not be smelling cilantro.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | March 23, 2019 4:19 AM |
Bitches, this is OP. I spend a lot of fucking time looking at maps (for my work).
I need to know why both countries, all the states highlighted, and the font are ALL GREEN.

NYACK, bitches!
by Anonymous | reply 92 | March 23, 2019 4:49 AM |
Good question, peeps. Here's a map that more accurately depicts the true colors of the region. Or not.
The original map came from gonorthwest.com. All their maps seem to be green. Funny how gonorthwest almost looks like gonorrhea.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | March 23, 2019 4:51 AM |
Here's a map that includes Northern Ca in the region. I have never heard of us called that. I don't mind because I love the the Pacific Northwest. It's not us, though. We're not like that. You don't see all that many man buns around here.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | March 23, 2019 4:54 AM |
Help, guys! Is "a convent in Havordshire" a tv/movie reference?
by Anonymous | reply 95 | March 23, 2019 4:54 AM |

Grew up in the Pacific Northwest, always considered it to be Oregon, Washington, and begrudgingly Idaho. I'd rather include B.C. than Idaho.

There are indeed two different posters from SF/SFBA - I am R58, and live in SF proper. R28 lives in the "San Francisco Bay Area", which generally indicates NOT San Francisco itself, but the greater Bay Area, which might mean Silicon Valley (South Bay), Oakland or Berkeley (East Bay), Marin County (North Bay), etc.
Per Wikipedia, "Although the exact boundaries of the region vary depending on the source, the Bay Area is generally accepted to include the nine counties that border the aforementioned estuaries: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, and San Francisco.
Geek trivia: The City and County of San Francisco have the same boundaries - unlike other CA counties, San Francisco County has no other cities or unincorporated areas.
Adjust your count accordingly :)

Why do so many profiles have something like, "I'm looking for HONESTY"? Are there that many liars circulating the lesbian dating website world? And what do they lie about that this is so common?
(I've never dated anyone from a website before.)

(This is out of a total of nine likes, but they only sent me email notifications identifying three of them--all bullshit.)
by Anonymous | reply 145 | March 24, 2019 11:55 PM |
Be careful with online people - who are they? That is part of the plea for "honesty." Plus people burnt out from dishonesty in general.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | March 24, 2019 11:59 PM |
Hussies,
Your thread derailment is causing me literal dementia. Desist, I'm begging you.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | March 25, 2019 12:00 AM |
Throwing this in there, I think the OP's dead.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | March 25, 2019 12:02 AM |
No, I'm not dead. I'm on match.com trying to figure out which profiles are real.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | March 25, 2019 12:04 AM |
How do you determine that R149?
by Anonymous | reply 150 | March 25, 2019 12:05 AM |
Ouija Board, r150.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | March 25, 2019 12:05 AM |
R150, I don't know, friend. That's why I am asking my DL lezzie friends.
But as I said, three of the "likes" were from men not living in my state with no pictures, so I assume those are fakes. I wrote in my profile, "I am a super lesbian. No men please." So why would three men out-of-state (and old) "like" me? They must be bots that match.com uses to spur you into buying a membership.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | March 25, 2019 12:07 AM |
What do you get with the free version R152?
by Anonymous | reply 153 | March 25, 2019 12:10 AM |
Ahem.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | March 25, 2019 12:10 AM |
Hot, educated lez in AZ here. Mid 40s and, yes, I look about 15 years younger, ha! Looking for a hot, educated lez who looks like a tax accountant. Meaning, not into tattoos, piercings, or purple colored hair, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | March 25, 2019 12:15 AM |
R155, LOL.
I know TWO lezzie tax accountants. They are NOT HOT.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | March 25, 2019 12:17 AM |
If you look like Dr Melfi in the Sopranos, you'd be my type.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | March 25, 2019 12:20 AM |
The people online are killers - beware!
by Anonymous | reply 158 | March 25, 2019 12:20 AM |
R152, consternation :)
People write to you, but you can't read it. You also can't see who likes you. There are lots of internet sites claiming that match.com uses bots and fake accounts to lure people in, which I suspect is true. But match.com also seems to have a better clientele than POF or okcupid (in my area).
I used to be on a paid site called Pink Sofa (just for the lezzie) that functioned so much better. With a free account, you could read letters to you, so that you would know that they were real. Then if you wanted to respond, you could buy a subscription. This just looks like a bait-and-switch.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | March 25, 2019 12:23 AM |
Don't waste your time and money on Match. Bottom of the barrel pickings and most of the profiles are dead.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | March 25, 2019 12:43 AM |
R160, I agree that most profiles are dead. I notice that the smart ladies have profiles on all the major sites. So if you see one on a certain site, you can contact them through a different site.
In my area, though, I see better quality people (less visible tattoos, stupid hand signals, etc.) on match.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | March 25, 2019 12:47 AM |
Is it worth the $42 a month R161?
by Anonymous | reply 162 | March 25, 2019 12:48 AM |
R162, no, but there is a visibility factor. Since my photo is out there, other lesbians in town (that I see at LGBT events) will now know that I am single.
BTW, the joke is on anyone who buys the match.com subscription, in that most of us don't have a subscription. So I imagine they send loads of emails that they can see go unread--of course, there is like a 20 dollar add on to let people who write you read your emails. So actually, it's close to $60 per month.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | March 25, 2019 12:51 AM |
What's the DL lezz count now then?
How many platters on nutloaf are called for? Is OP/ the Connecticut-phobic Committee over this key info yet please?
by Anonymous | reply 164 | March 25, 2019 12:52 AM |
Norway lez sounds interesting. Plus, was just there and it was my favorite of the Scandinavian countries.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | March 25, 2019 12:54 AM |
Hi there. I’m in LA. Is it just me or is this city slowly sucking the life out of me?
by Anonymous | reply 166 | March 25, 2019 12:57 AM |
R162, take 42 dollar bills, put them in a pile outdoors, douse with kerosene, light match and ignite. I guarantee you will derive far more pleasure that way versus giving those dollars to Match.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | March 25, 2019 12:58 AM |
R166, what's the dating situation like in LA? Are there any lez there who don't look like Shane from the L Word? No offense to anyone who looks like Shane from the L Word, BTW.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | March 25, 2019 1:03 AM |
I don’t go out much or date R168. My bar days are ova! But that’s OK. Yes there are ladies that don’t look like Shane. That would be a dated look wouldn’t it?
by Anonymous | reply 169 | March 25, 2019 1:09 AM |
R169 - thanks for the La update. Lived there 10 Years ago when an over abundance of Shane look-a-likes seemed to take over weho.... it was easy to spot the real deal (Katherine Moeing) over at Eleven for Lword airing nights.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | March 25, 2019 1:22 AM |
I had a friend visiting from Germany and we were walking around WeHo and Kate & her friends walked past us. My friend got excited and wanted to go back and say hello and get a picture. I didn’t want to bother her but went with her to say hello. She was nice and personable and my friend got a picture with her!
It’s funny living in LA for so long it you see a celebrity and you’re like oh that’s so and so and you keep it moving. You don’t stop and go OMG! Also you don’t ask for an autograph or anything. There are very few people I would freak about anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | March 25, 2019 1:41 AM |
Thread-killers. You derailed your own thread, OP.
I'm withdrawing my Vivian Vance vote in protest, there was promise here, I tsk you.
Cmon, r164, let's you and me get drunk.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | March 25, 2019 1:47 AM |
At least most of you seem to have a decent dating pool. Being a small town lesbian is tough. I have an online dating profile just because there aren't many local options. However, I men and transwomen seem to like my profile more than lesbians.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | March 25, 2019 1:55 AM |
That sucks R173. Start your cat collection NOW!
by Anonymous | reply 174 | March 25, 2019 1:56 AM |
When you get older it is non existent R173
by Anonymous | reply 175 | March 25, 2019 2:02 AM |
Lovely things to look forward to. Oye
by Anonymous | reply 176 | March 25, 2019 2:09 AM |
How many here are single and for how long?
by Anonymous | reply 177 | March 25, 2019 2:14 AM |
Me R177 and too long, but I'm really not interested in a relationship.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | March 25, 2019 2:17 AM |
Me, too. For way too long.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | March 25, 2019 2:28 AM |
Me three.. dare I say it’s been like 4 years for me.
by Anonymous | reply 180 | March 25, 2019 2:34 AM |
I should add - I’m horrible at knowing when someone is checking me out BUT I do know a new straight lady friend stared at my breasts while chatting today.. several times. I wasn’t sure what to make of it
by Anonymous | reply 181 | March 25, 2019 2:38 AM |
I've been single for way too long (as I wrote above), but I do have prospects.
I have been asked on dates more times in the last year than any year of my life before, and I attribute this to the fact that my fellow lesbians my age and older are also becoming desperate and braver at asking.
by Anonymous | reply 182 | March 25, 2019 3:27 AM |
What is your age R182?
(It’s anonymous so I’m not being rude, I think......)
by Anonymous | reply 183 | March 25, 2019 3:47 AM |
I'm single and have been for about a year now. R181, I frequently have conversations with straight female friends about boobs and they openly admit to finding them attractive.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | March 25, 2019 3:57 AM |
R183, very late 30s.
All the date requests I've had in person have been from women in the 40s and 50s--which is fine by me. My cut off is 49. But I have yet to find the right lady. I remain optimistic.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | March 25, 2019 4:01 AM |
R184.. for some odd reason I think it was more than that. Subtle excuses to touch me etc.. something is up. I’m on high alert around her now.
Late 30’s lez.. what area are you in?
If anyone is in the northeast, a lez only DL get together would be fun.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | March 25, 2019 4:23 AM |
R186, I'm in "The South"--but really, Florida!
by Anonymous | reply 187 | March 25, 2019 4:39 AM |
Florida? Damn, that’s a little far.. I’m 18 hours north on i95.
by Anonymous | reply 188 | March 25, 2019 4:55 AM |
I lived in Sarasota for almost a year to the day. Fucking hated Florida.
by Anonymous | reply 189 | March 25, 2019 6:30 AM |
Late to the thread...reporting in from HUMBOLDT County in the far northwest of California.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | March 25, 2019 6:36 AM |
I’ve always wanted to explore that area R190. What’s it like there?
by Anonymous | reply 191 | March 25, 2019 7:06 AM |
Humboldt County is bigger than Connecticut with a population of only 130,000 people. It is wild and beautiful. It takes 5 hours to drive south to San Francisco so we are pretty isolated. This attracts people who like that sort of thing...including many artists and musicians and the cannabis industry. There are strong rural roots here in farming, logging and fishing, and also the highest portion of Native American people in the population of any county. Low percentage of people of color but that number is increasing. If you love gardening, birds, hiking, kayaking etc...this is a great place. There is a college town, Arcata, that is pretty liberal with good restaurants, bookstores, and music. It rains a lot, but you get lots of rainbows. There are lesbians and other women who sleep with women...the older ones tend to be partnered up. There are gay men who seem to know each other and who help sponsor the annual parade. There is/was a Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence group here. I love the area, we have great theater and musical acts that stop off here while they travel between larger cities, and parking is so easy, I’ve seen more performances than when I lived in NYC or SF. But the region has many of the same problems you find elsewhere, a homeless population dealing with drugs and mental illness. We also have a lack of good medical care. Anyone with a serious medical issue drives to San Francisco or Stanford for medical care...if they can. Would love more doctors and nurses to move here. Homes in Arcata average around $400,000, Eureka, the largest town where the biggest hospital is, is cheaper. We tend to make our own fun, this place invented the first Kinetic Sculpture Race and there are a number of fun festivals to attend if you want to visit. The Airbnb’s are a better choice than any hotel I could recommend. Lots of people visit here...(maybe just to pickup a couple pounds of weeds to drive home) ...the roads are filled with license plates from all over the county. Come visit!

Vegas!!
by Anonymous | reply 193 | March 25, 2019 4:46 PM |
R155, I fit your description. We should chat.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | March 26, 2019 2:04 PM |
R190, wow! I just finished the doc Murder Mountain. Fascinating.
by Anonymous | reply 195 | March 26, 2019 2:05 PM |
I'm a cute, educated lezzie who looks like a society lady.
by Anonymous | reply 196 | March 26, 2019 2:18 PM |
R196 and R194, age and location?
by Anonymous | reply 197 | March 27, 2019 6:50 AM |
Have any of you tried to discuss the trans issue in real life? What have been the reactions?
by Anonymous | reply 198 | April 14, 2019 12:29 PM |
Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
