At least with the pitch perfect cast they didn't made Ben Platt straight, but i think that just was because they didn't find any girl to made her his girlfriend. You're correct they haven't made an official announcement yet. But the difference from the fangirls making things up, is that J & L have been basically telling everyone they are together. I was just on the BFA images site yesterday looking for some stuff, and decided to enter their names while I was there. There have been other photos from BFA posted on previous threads, and I saw a few photos had been added from a new event.

r51 so how do researchers find some things that Google can not find? Researching would come in handy for something and I want to have broader resources because Google leads me to irrelevant sources sometimes.

R52, could you provide some specifics? Are you talking about research for a particular profession or discipline? There are different databases and professional website resources depending on whether one is in law, medicine, science, etc.

That's exactly where I was. I wasn't even aware of these multi-part threads when I saw Julian Morris in "Man in an Orange Shirt", which I watched for OJC after seeing "The Haunting of Hill House". But the stand-out in Orange Shirt was Julian Morris, with Julian Morris yelling at Vanessa Redgrave and Redgrave screaming back at him. He was so good in it, so all in, that I wondered why Datalounge didn't have any threads about him. Then I discovered that it already knew all about him, and so here we are.

The current search function seems to only list recent threads, but if you search google, you'll find mentions of Julian in the older DL threads 7 or 8 years ago. But back then, there wasn't a consensus about him on DL because people weren't sure if he was straight or gay. Then a few years ago this new thread series started when people noticed that he was always accompanied by another handsome man.

Someone above left out some details. Julian was a little reserved during the PBS podcast -- (maybe because it was for a more mainstream audience). But he went farther in the print interviews he did for the Gay media. He said that gay men shouldn't have to mimic the lives of heterosexual couples, and he said Vanessa Redgrave told him about her gay first husband, and that he felt like he could tell Vanessa anything about himself, and he did.

Julian did reference gay friends in the PBS podcast.

I didn't listen to all of the PBS podcast, R99, but he does have gay friends.

But in the interviews he did for gay media, he talked at length about how much the project mattered to gay men, how gay men shouldn't have to live the same way as heterosexuals, and how he felt comfortable telling Vanessa R anything about his life. Those are not things a straight actor would say.

Most straight actors, even if they are gay friendly, make sure to mention, "I'm proud to play a gay role, but I'm straight myself, have a girlfriend, etc". Julian didn't do that. He left some heavy hints that he is gay.

Of course he has gay friends. He REFERENCED his gay friends and their lives when talking about his character's experiences.

But you're trying to argue that he's heavily hinting that he's gay? Because he said he felt that he could tell Vanessa Redgrave everything and anything?

I don't know. It seems like there's a lot of debate here whether he's gay or not. Just cause he's got a roomate he hangs out with a lot.

When you do that you are showing a lot of insecurities and there's a lot of probabilities that you are perceived as an homphobe or a closet case (or both). When you are straight and play a gay character there's a lot of ways to indicate that you are not gay without looking like a douche so unless you are directly questioned about your sexual orientation or about if you have a girlfriend it's not a good idea to talk about that. If you are insecure and don't want people to think you are gay just don't play gay roles, it¡s as easier as that

R108, I get your point. I think the reason for the running gag on this thread is because of this thread's unusual nature.

This is one of only a few threads on DL where it's obvious beyond a reasonable doubt that the two guys are a couple. (The only others I can think of right now are the Connor Jessup/Miles Hezier thread, and the Tyler Blackburn/Chandler Lafee thread).

Unlike most DL threads where most of the talk is pure speculation about 1) are the guys gay?, and 2) if they are gay are they a couple?, this thread already has the answer to those questions. So I think that's why some people keep using the 'just 2 straight bros' gag.

R122, they're not openly gay, true -- but they're all basically in glass closets. Unlike the majority of celebs we talk about on DL, none of them are hiding their boyfriends.

We should keep in mind that Tyler B only recently felt comfortable posting photos of his boyfriend -- back during his PLL days he was going on 'dates' with girls. So this is a new stage for Tyler, though some people thought he would come out during 'Roswell' this Spring.

Connor & Miles seem to also be pretty obvious, and though I don't really follow their thread, it seems their parents have basically been referring to them as a couple.

Julian & Landon are the senior couple among these 3 pairs. I don't know if this poster is still posting here, but on a previous thread he said that J & L are saying "My life is an open book, so I don't need to read it to you". And when you think about it -- that's kind of true. They haven't hidden their relationship -- there are hundreds of photos documenting everywhere they've gone together for years.

But you're right that their worlds are more integrated & overlapped than most couples. Because they've been together so long, Landon has met almost all the actors Julian has worked with, and Julian has become part of Landon's group of longtime friends.

It's all showbiz, though. An artist can talk your ear off about their "process" at a gallery opening, just as an actor can at a premiere. Neither have had to make much of an adjustment in bridging the two worlds.

What's different about their relationship though is that they seem to have had the maturity & commitment to make it work.

I'm close in age to them, and there aren't many guys who can maintain a relationship from their early 20's to their mid-30's.

Landon has huge privilege, though. He can up sticks and follow Julian wherever, because earning a living (and all its attendant commitments) need never cross his mind.

It's true they have some advantages. Because Landon doesn't have to work he's had the freedom to travel to all of Julian's events over the years and spend lots of time together. Many celeb couples (& ordinary couples) say their relationships broke up because of lack of time together.

However, there are other wealthy celebs with those advantages, and we read about them breaking up every day. So it still requires a commitment from the two people to make it work. Money by itself isn't enough.

R182, it's probably a bit of a stereotype that all rich boys are entitled assholes. Some of them are. But some rich kids seem to grow up with a social conscience. Landon is a liberal/Democrat and is pro-environment & anti-Republican. And I've noticed that his wealthy friends are the same.

Yes, the fact that Julian & Landon go back a long way may have given them a solid foundation. Landon did say on IG last year that he "grew up" with Julian.
