Poor Jazz is just trying to be happy, I get it, and the kid deserves it. We all went through a phase where we thought a physical could correct a mental. I always wanted to lose more weight, and was anorexic for years, and it was always a moving goalpost. People who get huge boobs, lips, muscles, etc. They are wearing their insecurities on their chests, literally. With time comes wisdom and sometimes with good parents come wisdom. You can get huge tits or pec implants or lipo or you can drink urine or shove a banana up your ass, all those acts will have the same effect on your mental issues, none. It's been proven time and again that self improvement, self acceptance, is an inside job. If there were a show with a teen who was begging her parents for a nose job and bigger boobs so that she could be happy, we would all laugh and say what a silly kid and how awful parents who would do that are. Jazz should have been taught that. Jazz has adamantly eschewed therapy when he should have been seeking it all this time, and of course Jeanette is fine with that. This is a teachable moment for the "my kid will himself if I don't give him hormones" crowd, how anyone could buy that is ridiculous to begin with. I thought it was common knowledge as adults that things and physical trappings don't create happiness. Like I mentioned earlier, I thought our part 2 was fine, until it was gone, and we lost some excellent info there, I was too confident that it was OK. I feel like I let people down. On one hand, doctors are told that only "specialists" understand this condition. But then there is also a push to try to get general practitioners to start getting used to treating these cases in order to normalize the situation.

Jazz's mom loves to pretend normal development is pathological, similar to the Schofields. A lot of abusive parents who want their victim home forever do this, to make sure they don't think they can survive on their own. A child's developmentally normal lying phase in elementary years becomes "you're not trustworthy and lie all the time," losing a teenage job because you slack off becomes "you can't even hold an entry-level job, you'll never be able to live by yourself!" instead of just being a learning experience.

The family has compounded the problem by making sure the kid will have expensive medical bills and lots of appointments forever (good luck getting time off from a job for those, buddy), and that he's so materialistic from his rich-kid upbringing that there's no way he'll be satisfied with the kind of life a person with no education and no skills can afford from working.
