His book came out yesterday. Never really a fan of his and hadn't even really heard of him until I saw him in a play on Broadway this past summer, and he's been on my radar since. He was on Good Morning America yesterday talking about his book release, so out of curiosity I purchased it.
I'm about halfway through, but taking a break to say: his book flows well, he's entertaining and funny as hell, and he's been molested/taken advantage of sexually...like... A LOT.
Totally caught me off guard, and it's not at all the focus of the book, but all this is to say that I keep getting stunned by his genuine honesty. It's worth the read, if any of you are looking for a good book to pick up or download.

He was the best thing about "Girls."
I'm sad to hear that he was sexually assaulted / molested.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||03/13/2019|
He seems obnoxious and his face looks like it was made out of wax.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||03/13/2019|
Didn't people used to wait until they DONE something before they "wrote" an autobiography?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||03/13/2019|
What age was he first molested?
|by Anonymous||reply 6||03/13/2019|
He doesn't mention Girls at all. I skimmed the ebook for keywords.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||03/13/2019|
Does most of America even know who he is? It seems like everybody gets a memoir these days, no matter who they are.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||03/13/2019|
I adore him. One of the best talk show guests out there.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||03/13/2019|
he's too fat, i don't believe he was molested
|by Anonymous||reply 11||03/13/2019|
He does have a strange plastic looking face, but I do find him rather funny. He was great in The Boys in the Band last year.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||03/13/2019|
Does he talk about The New Normal and co-star Justin Bartha? I liked that show and thought they were cute as a couple
|by Anonymous||reply 13||03/13/2019|
Saw him in "The Boys in the Band" on Broadway. His was definitely the weakest performance.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||03/13/2019|
The book is only 13 dollars on IBooks so I downloaded it.
Jesus Christ! So you’re from Omaha! Get over it!
|by Anonymous||reply 15||03/13/2019|
I’m sorry but a priest briefly frenching you during confession does not count as molestation.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||03/13/2019|
He looks like an Asian woman on the cover.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||03/13/2019|
He’s a gay theater kid from the sticks who moved to the big city. Why is that news? Aren’t we all?
I like him but his tales of woe seem to have a humble-brag angle. Like the time he converted a straight guy— the relationship turned out to be a nightmare but don’t forget that he’s hot enough to convert a straight guy. Ugh.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||03/13/2019|
He's his own biggest fan.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||03/13/2019|
R23, the better question is why is he molesting US?
|by Anonymous||reply 24||03/13/2019|
Of course no mention of "Girls". That's for volume 2 of the 10-set Magnum Opus of his glorious life.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||03/13/2019|
So on a scale of Tim Tebow to Andy Cohen, how big of a slut was Rannells?
|by Anonymous||reply 26||03/13/2019|
Writing a memoir at such a young age is a sign the author realizes he's all washed up. He wanted to publish the memoir before he's entirely forgotten.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||03/13/2019|
Saw him on Kimmell and he said this book was from his early years to his broadway debut. Saving that for another rainy day, I presume.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||03/13/2019|
I wrote a memoir too so anyone can do it, guys!
|by Anonymous||reply 30||03/13/2019|
He has the gay equivalent to resting bitchface. Resting gayface.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||03/13/2019|
^^^Do you even have to ask
|by Anonymous||reply 34||03/13/2019|
R2 Was he was sexually assaulted / molested in a nice, caring and sharing way?
R28 Noël release his memoir 'Present Indicative' when he was in his 30s.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||03/13/2019|
Jake Shears's memoir has 34 reviews on Amazon and ranks #297,382. Hopefully, Andrew will do better.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||03/13/2019|
R36 I heard Shears admit on TV that his career is on the wain. He had to fly out to the Sydney Mardi Gras to get a full-house of paying customers (who actually paid to dance and take drugs).
|by Anonymous||reply 37||03/13/2019|
Is his career big enough that we need a memoir from him?
|by Anonymous||reply 38||03/13/2019|
How much detail does he use to describe the rapes?
|by Anonymous||reply 39||03/13/2019|
He wasn't raped, he was fellated.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||03/13/2019|
[quote] Noël release his memoir 'Present Indicative' when he was in his 30s.
It is no longer 1932, and even if it were, Andrew Rannells is no Noël Coward..
|by Anonymous||reply 41||03/13/2019|
R37, and he's BFFs with Kylie Minogue so she probably paid for it.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||03/13/2019|
R41 Noël was genius in many genres.
But I don't actually think I've seen this rannells person.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||03/13/2019|
Is Whoopi still not back on The View?! Damn.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||03/13/2019|
R16 it does, if it's done right.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||03/13/2019|
Beverly said it first. Plagiarism!
|by Anonymous||reply 47||03/13/2019|
[quote]I heard Shears admit on TV that his career is on the wain.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||03/13/2019|
I think I have a book in me!
|by Anonymous||reply 49||03/13/2019|
I like him. He is adorkable and like every gay guy I have ever liked. He should do a rom com with Jonathan Groff and Henry Golding.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||03/13/2019|
Could you imagine writing this book? Could you imagine buying this book?
|by Anonymous||reply 51||03/13/2019|
Love him....talented and great with his fans!
|by Anonymous||reply 52||03/13/2019|
[quote]Could you imagine buying this book?
Considering I *did* buy it, yes. Haven't opened it yet but I will this weekend. But sure, take the frau / Republican route and criticize someone you don't know whose book you haven't read.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||03/13/2019|
r54 my thought too and was surprised it took that long for somebody to say it
|by Anonymous||reply 55||03/13/2019|
R53, is everything you don't like automatically "Republican"?
Mind you, I ordered the book. I find Andy dee-lightful. But "Republican" just because someone doesn't?
|by Anonymous||reply 56||03/14/2019|
The book reviews have been pretty great - it’s supposedky great insight into being a young person trying to make it into Broadway. I’ll definitely read it.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||03/14/2019|
He wrote a column for the Sunday NY Times' "Modern Love" page a few weeks ago. It was about how he fell for a long term bf. He's a good writer
|by Anonymous||reply 58||03/14/2019|
He seems tedious and bratty.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||03/14/2019|
R56, I meant "Republican" in the context of judging things they haven't even seen, read or heard. They do it all the time with various pop-culture products, most recently "Captain Marvel."
|by Anonymous||reply 60||03/14/2019|
He’s got an amazing ass and I loved every minute of seeing it on Girls.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||03/14/2019|
[quote] and he's been molested/taken advantage of sexually...like... A LOT.
Is that the excuse he gives for being a slut and a people user who discards others immediately after he's got what he needs from them?
|by Anonymous||reply 62||03/14/2019|
[QUOTE]Saw him in "The Boys in the Band" on Broadway. His was definitely the weakest performance.
There were no weak performances, everyone held their own and it was a terrific show.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||03/14/2019|
That's not a book in you , Lorna dear. That's a cock
|by Anonymous||reply 64||03/14/2019|
Did Rannells just rehash his smug bitchiness in Boys in the Band? He only has one character.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||03/14/2019|
(23) when metoo became a thing.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||03/14/2019|
Coward had written a number of hugely successful plays which premiered on the West End and Broadway and toured all over, was on the cover of Time, the film of his play Cavalcade won the best picture Oscar and he was a famous personality before there were TV interview shows. I don't think if your best known work is a featured role on Girls it's quite the same thing
|by Anonymous||reply 67||03/14/2019|
He did The Book of Mormon and that was at least a decade ago. He was a supporting actor on Girls, which had a very niche audience. Most of the public has no idea who this guy is.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||03/14/2019|
He was also the lead in that shortlived network TV show about a gay couple
|by Anonymous||reply 69||03/14/2019|
Which alone is worth two autobiographical volumes.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||03/14/2019|
I adore him. He's hilarious, seems to have a big heart and is so hot. He's not just nice to look at from an aesthetic angle, he radiates raw sex appeal. I'm sorry to hear he was molested and exploited. Very difficult stuff to carry.
R69 He proved to be unexpectedly talented at drama on "The New Normal". He pulls you in with his great comedic timing but it's the unexpected dramatic moments that he also delivers with perfect timing, that really hit you.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||03/14/2019|
Total phony. Ego the size of Australia,
|by Anonymous||reply 72||03/14/2019|
I adore him as well, and thought the book was good!
|by Anonymous||reply 73||03/14/2019|
OP and R71 are the same person.
The guy can sing but he's a dime a dozen in the Broadway community. Guess the difference is most actors don't have the inclination to write such a book. Didn't realize Jake Shears book didn't get much traction. So who is going to buy this??
|by Anonymous||reply 74||03/14/2019|
R74 I'm not the OP, unless you meant we're both a dime a dozen in our appreciation of Rannells.
R72 Oh, I'm so glad to hear it. I like to imagine him keeping the prissy "Book of Mormon" costume on and passive-aggressively berating me between moans, while I take him.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||03/14/2019|
This book did not receive a *starred review from Kirkus Reviews.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||03/14/2019|
He was fun interview on Colbert the other night.
|by Anonymous||reply 77||03/14/2019|
Oh, please, r60. All I need to see are the words "Captain Marvel" and I know it's a movie I don't want to see. BUT I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||03/14/2019|
I do like that he's able to make a whole career on playing gays guys
|by Anonymous||reply 79||03/14/2019|
I want to chow down on his dong. But he looks like he wears bad cologne.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||03/14/2019|
Andrew Rannells was not a stand-out in The Boys in the Band, whoever it was above who said that every person in the cast was brilliant or whatever. There were some great performance and there were some bad ones (the redhead from Desperate Housewives was awful). That hot guy from "One Life to Live" was one of my favorites. I didn't get Zachary Quinto's performance. Jim Parsons was excellent. Matt Bomer was completely miscast.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||03/14/2019|
It is hard to imagine having sexual attraction toward him. He is like a cartoon character.
|by Anonymous||reply 82||03/14/2019|
Does he provide any details about his Asian/Pacific Islander genetic heritage?
|by Anonymous||reply 83||03/14/2019|
On GIRLS he played a stock FAGGOT character-SCENEY, QUEENY AND BITCHY.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||03/14/2019|
[quote] What age was he first molested?
30, but it got him a callback for the Book of Mormon.
|by Anonymous||reply 85||03/14/2019|
[quote]On GIRLS he played a stock FAGGOT character-SCENEY, QUEENY AND BITCHY.
That's just what he is. Pretty sure he came out of the womb with an arched eyebrow and asked for a gimlet.
Frankly this is what I admire about him. He's very unapologetic about what he is and seems comfortable in his own skin.
|by Anonymous||reply 86||03/14/2019|
I love Andrew. He is an amazing talent. Check him out in FALSETTOS.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||03/14/2019|
He was brutally miscast in Falsettos.
|by Anonymous||reply 88||03/14/2019|
He'll be singing on Ellen today.
|by Anonymous||reply 89||03/14/2019|
Oops, Rannells isn't on Ellen. I got him confused with another gay singer from broadway.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||03/14/2019|
The bitchy, superficial, fickle character that he played in GIRLS would never be friends with dumpy, plain Hannah in real life. But since Lens Dunham writes the show, the two characters were diehard besties. Bleh.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||03/14/2019|
He's really good on his new show, BLACK MONDAY, and convincingly plays someone 10-15 years younger than his actual age.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||03/14/2019|
[quote]That's not a book in you , Lorna dear. That's a cock
Oh, geez, no! Don't tell me I'm being molested -- AGAIN!
|by Anonymous||reply 94||03/14/2019|
[quote]Andrew Rannells was not a stand-out in The Boys in the Band, whoever it was above who said that every person in the cast was brilliant or whatever.
You have the reading comprehension of a Trump.
|by Anonymous||reply 95||03/14/2019|
For the person who keeps asking what age he was first molested at, it depends on what you would count as molested because there's multiple things he talked about- kissing, petting, actual sex, but he was a 15 /16 year old in a relationship/having sex with a 40 something year old. SOOO... pretty young.
|by Anonymous||reply 96||03/14/2019|
My white gay boss from Chicago reminds me of his characters in girls sometimes. Only less intense. But bitchy
|by Anonymous||reply 97||03/14/2019|
He seems like the kind of queen who would judge you and make fun of you because you use grooming products from the drugstore and not the latest high-end overpriced fuckery.
|by Anonymous||reply 98||03/14/2019|
R98 umm... that's oddly specific lol. You okay?
|by Anonymous||reply 99||03/14/2019|
Beware, Rannells! Clearly lots of fuming understudies here, perfecting the level of dramatic delivery required to make an "accident" look convincing. Dagger eyes = Don't take the stairs.
R98 I hope so. There's no victory like a "Pinaud Clubman" victory.
|by Anonymous||reply 100||03/14/2019|
The Rannalls troll is out in full force today. Find anything to do other than haunt this thread.
|by Anonymous||reply 101||03/14/2019|
An american gay young man from the provinces bildungsroman? I grew up in Vienna and Montevideo so this is very exotic for me!
|by Anonymous||reply 103||03/14/2019|
Damn, ordered this off ebay but will not be happy if no "Girls" in it. A perfect example of how one can love the work of an artist while hating the artist in person (Dunham). It's such a great show.
That and his Tony for a very cool Broadway show (where's the movie?) are enough to merit a book (the revival of BITB too, for me, anyway). But not if he's going to pull a Sally Field and write about his feelings only. bullshit.
|by Anonymous||reply 104||03/14/2019|
I don't dislike him as a performer, but really don't understand the trend of reasonably young C-Listers writing memoirs
|by Anonymous||reply 105||03/14/2019|
Pinaud Clubman? OH DEAR. How are things in Graspingville?
|by Anonymous||reply 106||03/14/2019|

I thought the age of consent in Nebraska was like 9? Wait. Sorry. That's Arkansas...unless you have a note from your Mother.
|by Anonymous||reply 107||03/14/2019|
R106 It has legacy! The truly sophisticated understand such things.
|by Anonymous||reply 108||03/14/2019|
He did not win a Tony Award and he is 40, not 45.
|by Anonymous||reply 109||03/14/2019|
No one seems to know how age of consent works.
Each state has their own laws with the age. Just cause the age of consent in your state is 15 doesn’t mean you can fuck a 15 year old when you’re 40. There’s also laws in place based on age difference
|by Anonymous||reply 110||03/14/2019|
He is a Grammy winner, however, so 1/4 of the way to his EGOT. Tony is probably next after two nods .
|by Anonymous||reply 111||03/14/2019|
He has a new TV show on cable. Boring. I forgot the name of it but stopped watching after second episode. Terrible show and Andy was mugging all through it.
|by Anonymous||reply 112||03/14/2019|
[Quote] He is a Grammy winner, however, so 1/4 of the way to his EGOT. Tony is probably next after two nods .
Rannells still has a way to go. Even 25 year old Ben Platt already has the EGT. All he needs is his Oscar.
|by Anonymous||reply 113||03/14/2019|
[quote]I thought the age of consent in Nebraska was like 9? Wait. Sorry. That's Arkansas...unless you have a note from your Mother.
It's only 9 in Arkansas if you're having sex WITH your mother. Or another relative.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||03/14/2019|
Also R105, I get what you're saying but to be fair the aim of this memoir isn't to document his fabulous life and talk about how great he is, he's really honest about the shit that happened to him and how the path to success isn't as easy/clean as is it seems. The book actually ends well before what we all know him from (Girls, The Book of Mormon, TBITB, Black Monday, or etc) even happens. He essentially said that he wrote it to share with young aspiring actors what it's truly like trying to break it in the business, so that they don't get discouraged when they don't get from point A (the start) to point B (fame & success) so easily.
|by Anonymous||reply 115||03/14/2019|
How does he look in a jockstrap?
|by Anonymous||reply 116||03/14/2019|
Nice long legs I’d like to climb.
|by Anonymous||reply 117||03/14/2019|
Oh my God, I’m going to throw up...
|by Anonymous||reply 118||03/14/2019|
His ass always looks sorta flat to me. It's not that impressive and he's obviously a bottom, so what else is he bringing to the table? I feel bad for flat assed bottoms and small cocked tops.
|by Anonymous||reply 119||03/14/2019|
R119 Someone in another thread wrote about fucking him and said he kept making witty quips while being fucked, as if a camera were on him.
|by Anonymous||reply 120||03/14/2019|
Oh, that's definitely a turn off. I don't mind laughing a bit during sex, but leave the stand up for a night at the improv.
|by Anonymous||reply 121||03/14/2019|
R120 R121 ah yes, because this information is SO reliable and must be 110% true.
|by Anonymous||reply 122||03/14/2019|
Legs for days. Nice package too.
|by Anonymous||reply 123||03/15/2019|
He sounds like a cartoon character. Does he still have testicles?
|by Anonymous||reply 125||03/16/2019|
R125 I'd be happy to take that investigative mission.
|by Anonymous||reply 126||03/16/2019|
He undoubtably has a crotch like Barbie.
|by Anonymous||reply 127||03/16/2019|
Based on what? That bit in the tennis shorts? Is that fake?
|by Anonymous||reply 128||03/16/2019|
I just got finished reading the book. While it is certainly not Kafka, it is a very easy and enjoyable book that every boy who has dreams of making it on Broadway should read, especially the gay or naive ones. There really isn't graphic sex, so it would be appropriate for a junior or senior in hs to read. His life was not terribly tough; most Broadway kids didn't have a tough life, just one checkered with failure and disappointment. But, he knocks out some of the glamour with which kids look at the stage and theatrical careers.
|by Anonymous||reply 130||03/16/2019|
Does it end suggesting there will be a second memoir?
|by Anonymous||reply 131||03/16/2019|
It's another one of those small thin books I can't stand (think Whoopi "A Book") but the cover is great and it has a nice design. An easy read. But I wish I had waited until it was bucks at Barnes and Noble. Give it a couple of months.
|by Anonymous||reply 132||03/16/2019|
Make that SIX bucks, above.
|by Anonymous||reply 133||03/16/2019|

|by Anonymous||reply 135||03/16/2019|
Mike Doyle was 100 Grindrs ago. They joke up a while back.
|by Anonymous||reply 136||03/16/2019|

|by Anonymous||reply 137||03/16/2019|

|by Anonymous||reply 138||03/16/2019|
R138 The Rentboy they hired.
|by Anonymous||reply 139||03/16/2019|
Rannells carried on quite openly with Matt Bomer during BITB.
|by Anonymous||reply 140||03/16/2019|
So apparently he’s a total whore???
|by Anonymous||reply 142||03/16/2019|
R140 I was gonna bring you Bomer. Cause those two were very Cosy with each other in a way it seemed they were fucking.
|by Anonymous||reply 143||03/16/2019|
Oh they were totally doing it, Rannells was caught slipping his arm around Bomer’s waist in a way only people who are fucking do (right at pocket level). They didn’t know they were being filmed by Michael B Washington for his Story when it happened.
|by Anonymous||reply 144||03/16/2019|
Was he in the original cast of The Book of Mormon?
|by Anonymous||reply 145||03/16/2019|
Gavin Creel and Andrew Rannells "Where You Are" - Broadway Backwards 2019
|by Anonymous||reply 146||03/16/2019|
[quote] Cause those two were very Cosy with each other in a way it seemed they were fucking.
Bomer only likes much older men. He always has even before his husband.
Rannells and most of the cast of tBitB, had known each other for 20 years. The entire cast was very touchy feely with each other.
However, being that Bomer's husband was doing PR for the play, he got him into the play because Ryan Murphy is his client and Bomer and Rannells are both bottoms, they were just going on as girls sometimes do. Bomer spent most of his time with Quinto, Parsons and Michael B Washington. Rannells was much closer with Carver even continuing to spend time with him outside of the play, taking him to fire island and spending holidays with him.
Either way, that clip that was posted by an actor from the show (who wouldn't have posted it if there was something going on since he knew them both decades ago), showed Bomer not even lifting his arm when Rannells went to put it around him. The two were noticeably publicly separated from one another after they finished doing promotional appearances from the show as if one told the other to back off.
|by Anonymous||reply 147||03/16/2019|
R148, Oh, you're that weird troll from that Matt Bomer thread. Please, feel free to go back to where everyone put you on ignore a long time ago you psychopath. Tah!
|by Anonymous||reply 149||03/16/2019|
The name of the show is Black Monday.
|by Anonymous||reply 150||03/17/2019|

Any Denis Jones gossip in the book? That's the only reason I'd buy it.
|by Anonymous||reply 152||03/17/2019|
Bomer and Quinto both went to Carnegie Mellon, so I think that's another reason why they're close.
|by Anonymous||reply 153||03/17/2019|
definitely not not of interest for geritol set
|by Anonymous||reply 154||03/17/2019|
It's funny how the media will book and interview someone like this based on his resume essentially but the work he's actually done isn't really that extraordinary or memorable. Strange times.
|by Anonymous||reply 156||03/17/2019|
I think he's SEX on STILTS.
|by Anonymous||reply 157||03/17/2019|
Considering Doyle and he had a major relationship for a number of years as one saw from Doyle's Twitter I imagine he devotes a number of pages to Mike and their relationship.
Or does he pretend Doyle never existed in his life or played a tiny part and it was all in Mike's head? Which seems a very Rannells' thing to do.
|by Anonymous||reply 158||03/18/2019|
R158 maybe you didn't read any of the rest of the thread, but it was clearly pointed out that this memoir is written with the purpose of explaining how the path to success isn't always as glamorous as it seems. He felt like he achieved success once he had his broadway debut, so that's where the novel stops, he didn't even know Mike Doyle then.
"a very Rannells thing to do" lol, calm down Mary. Doyle was at one of his book signings, so clearly they're still friends and significant to each other.

[quote] so that's where the novel stops,
So now it's a NOVEL?
|by Anonymous||reply 162||03/18/2019|
Does Andy Randells mention Lens Dunham in his book? They were, afterall, at one time besties! Does he get into that script carrying fiasco on Brodway a few years ago?
|by Anonymous||reply 163||03/18/2019|
What was the script carrying fiasco?
|by Anonymous||reply 164||03/18/2019|
r164 - Falsettos. The pages were a-lying! Actors tripping over the loose pages!
|by Anonymous||reply 165||03/18/2019|
[quote]He seems snippy. Bitchy.
Of course he is, he's gay for Christ's sake.
|by Anonymous||reply 166||03/18/2019|
R163 Read the damn book, it's been said in the thread so many times that he only goes over his primitive years trying to make it in the business. Lena is from a later part of his life.
|by Anonymous||reply 167||03/18/2019|
Correction: He’s a New York gay. That’s what makes him snippy and bitchy.
|by Anonymous||reply 168||03/18/2019|
Do you suppose his throat is always sore?
|by Anonymous||reply 169||03/18/2019|
He does a hilariously droll job with this Joe Iconis song
|by Anonymous||reply 170||03/18/2019|
"He’s a New York gay. That’s what makes him snippy and bitchy." Um, no. He's not from here. What part of that did you miss? He's a snippy flyover transplant.
|by Anonymous||reply 171||03/18/2019|
'He's a snippy flyover transplant.'
|by Anonymous||reply 172||03/18/2019|
New York is an island stuffed to the brim with flyover transplants. The rest of the country isn’t dumb enough to believe in native New Yorkers.
|by Anonymous||reply 173||03/18/2019|
Wrong R63. There were several bad performances. Tuc Watkins fucked up a couple of his few lines the night I saw it. The show was miscast. To have Rannells playing Larry, the gorgeous guy that men were lusting over was a mistake. Should have been Bomer. It took a lot of imagination to think that Rannels was taking Tuc upstairs to fuck him.
|by Anonymous||reply 174||03/18/2019|
You must have been drink R174
|by Anonymous||reply 175||03/18/2019|
In what universe is Rannells considered good-looking let alone gorgeous?
It looks like he's been having plastic surgery since the age of 7.
He makes me think of Conrad Veidt in The Man Who Laughs.
|by Anonymous||reply 176||03/18/2019|
"The rest of the country isn’t dumb enough to believe in native New Yorkers."
There are lots of us...
|by Anonymous||reply 178||03/18/2019|
Living in New York over the ten year mark doesn’t automatically make you native.
|by Anonymous||reply 179||03/18/2019|
r176 - Not "gorgeous". Egregious.

um... Trump supporters
|by Anonymous||reply 182||Last Tuesday at 11:31 AM|
Yes, New Yorkers are the political heroes and everyone else voted for Trump.
|by Anonymous||reply 183||Last Tuesday at 11:38 AM|
Rannells was fine in THE BOYS IN THE BAND but miscast and awful in FALSETTOS. The only bad performance in BOYS was Charlie Carver as the Cowboy, miscast and clueless.
[quote]However, being that Bomer's husband was doing PR for the play, he got him into the play because Ryan Murphy is his client and Bomer and Rannells are both bottoms, they were just going on as girls sometimes do.
Bomer's husband was not the PR rep for THE BOYS IN THE BAND, though of course he may have helped out behind the scenes.
|by Anonymous||reply 184||Last Tuesday at 11:59 AM|
Andrew was great in TBITB, and he had the audience laughing constantly especially during his phone call. Honestly the only performance that stuck out in a bad way was given by Brian Hutchinson who played Alan, and at times- as much as I love him- Matt Bomer's but it was his first time in a broadway play so we'll blame it on that lol.

[quote]Bomer's husband was not the PR rep for THE BOYS IN THE BAND, though of course he may have helped out behind the scenes.
IIRC he wasn't be he did help. He helped set up interviews for the cast in various outlets, was thanked specifically for setting up the Times pieces/coverage, and handled getting interviews for his husband/Matt Bomer individually (who did more than anyone despite it being his Broadway debut.) He is the one behind his entire career. Plus, he's Ryan Murphy's primary PR handler. So yes, he was definitely involved even if it just was in that capacity.
But this is a thread about Mr. Omaha / Andrew.
[quote]Read the damn book, it's been said in the thread so many times that he only goes over his primitive years trying to make it in the business. Lena is from a later part of his life.
The part of his life that the book is about is the part that would be most interesting to a general audience. I don't think there are enough people who would be interested in a book about Andrew's life now but since it was framed as a "guide" to help younger actors trying to get to the point where he was at the end of the book, it has much more of a mass appeal. It was rather smart of him and his team. It also seems like younger people really like Andrew.

"It also seems like younger people really like Andrew."
I mentioned seeing Andrew Rannells at tea in Fire Island to my 20-something housemates and not one of them had heard of him.
|by Anonymous||reply 187||Last Tuesday at 4:04 PM|
Rannells mentioned Bomer at his book signing in suburban Chicago, he said something like “Don’t fucking woo Matt Bomer.” Not sure what the context was.
|by Anonymous||reply 189||Last Wednesday at 4:31 PM|
If you type in "Andrew Rannells Fire Island", this is what comes up.
|by Anonymous||reply 190||Last Wednesday at 4:34 PM|
I thought the whole cast of The Boys in the Band was excellent. Even Carver who got quite a few laughs the night I saw it. He just had to stand there, look cute, and act dumb. He did. Bomer was fine, too, but he really doesn't do much for most of the show except sit back and observe. DeJesus was the real scene stealer, though. The audience ate him up.
|by Anonymous||reply 191||Last Wednesday at 4:59 PM|
R189 where did you see this lol?
|by Anonymous||reply 192||Last Wednesday at 5:24 PM|
I think Andrew paid too much for the Chelsea apartment.
|by Anonymous||reply 193||Last Wednesday at 5:28 PM|
R187, "Younger" people may have meant teens. A lot of theater kids think he is it thanks to Falsettos.
R189, He was being interviewed at the university. Matt's name was brought up because they had worked together and the audience woo-ed because he is hot. He said "Don't FUCKING woo Matt ......." It was a joke. He wasn't actually angry.
R190, His pics from there with Charlie are on his instagram and Charlie's. They also spent time together at the start of Christmas.
|by Anonymous||reply 195||Last Thursday at 1:42 AM|
I don't get the allure of Andy Randells.
|by Anonymous||reply 196||Last Thursday at 2:48 AM|
How he spends his Sundays, from the NY Times. I think every stereotype is covered.
|by Anonymous||reply 197||Last Thursday at 3:43 AM|
I wonder if he and Charlie have something going on, Charlie even posted a picture of Andrew the day of the Black Monday premiere to show his support.
Speaking of which, I'm genuinely confused as to why Black Monday has gotten any bad reviews from critics- all of the people I know who have tuned in find it genuinely entertaining, myself included. It's such a fun and original show, and Andrew does amazing in it.
|by Anonymous||reply 198||Last Thursday at 6:00 AM|
R197- That's because Andrew Rannells IS A STEREOTYPE.
|by Anonymous||reply 199||Last Thursday at 10:00 AM|
I don't think he'll age well. His head is too big.
|by Anonymous||reply 201||Last Thursday at 10:14 AM|
His head is too big really sums it all up.
|by Anonymous||reply 202||Last Thursday at 3:50 PM|
He's like a clueless straight person's idea of what a gay man is like. Every stereotype is checked.
|by Anonymous||reply 203||Last Thursday at 3:53 PM|
I just heard Andrew on RuPaul's podcast. Andrew's a good interview because he's funny.

Friends do that sort of stuff you know.

After seeing him on Colbert, I was convinced he was the reincarnation of Paul Lynde.
|by Anonymous||reply 206||Last Thursday at 4:37 PM|
Except Paul Lynde was still very much alive when AR was born.
|by Anonymous||reply 207||Last Thursday at 4:38 PM|
AOC and Rannells will be the guests on Seth Meyers tonight, so I'm sure it'll be a GREAT show! 😐
|by Anonymous||reply 209||Last Thursday at 4:50 PM|
He's not my type but he's cute in a little brother way and he looks great for 40
|by Anonymous||reply 210||Last Thursday at 10:17 PM|
So that’s, what, at least nine hours of drinking in R197? That sounds exhausting.
|by Anonymous||reply 211||Last Thursday at 10:38 PM|
[quote]Friends do that sort of stuff you know.
R205, Sure, Jan!
Oh, look. It's the people from Andrew's article at R197!
|by Anonymous||reply 212||Last Thursday at 11:23 PM|
R203-He's does check off all of the gay male stereotypes-SCENEY,QUEENY,BITCHY.
|by Anonymous||reply 213||Last Friday at 3:13 AM|
I think I would like him if I knew him in person.
|by Anonymous||reply 214||Last Friday at 3:41 AM|
He's the kind of actor you THINK you would like him if you knew him in person.
|by Anonymous||reply 215||Last Friday at 3:48 AM|
Sounds as if you know him in person, r215.
|by Anonymous||reply 216||Last Friday at 3:49 AM|
No I don't but I didn't know Lauren Bacall in person either.
Rannells is known as a what can you do for me actor and every once in a while his oh so affable talk show/interview demeaner breaks and a snide/bitchy/arrogant edge breaks through. His tireless self promotion is exhausting for others. But many actors are like this. Oh I like this person so much! They seem so nice! They are acting.
|by Anonymous||reply 217||Last Friday at 4:27 AM|
For someone who can't play straight to save his life, Rannells has had a pretty decent career so far.
|by Anonymous||reply 218||Last Friday at 4:29 AM|
Exactly what I assumed R217. Thank you for confirming. Reminds me of a drag queen I know (more well known than Rannells).
|by Anonymous||reply 219||Last Friday at 6:35 AM|
R217 You don't know him at all, and you're making assumptions based on nothing. If you have so much dislike for him, then go start a thread over someone you do like and dedicate your time there. But regardless of your feelings on him, his book is resonating with a lot of people, and he's experiencing steady success. Stuff like that doesn't happen for the type of people you're describing.
|by Anonymous||reply 220||Last Friday at 7:46 AM|
To be fair, R220 I can only assume you don’t know him at all either.
|by Anonymous||reply 221||Last Friday at 7:50 AM|
[quote]But regardless of your feelings on him, his book is resonating with a lot of people, and he's experiencing steady success.
He's the definition of "niche." He's not really that famous.
|by Anonymous||reply 222||Last Friday at 7:53 AM|
R221 Sure, but there's such thing as giving someone the benefit of the doubt. He's done nothing to you for you to say such nasty things about him, and I don't mean that in a "hey!!! Don't be such a big meanie!!" childish way- I mean that the only person your comments are reflecting poorly on are you, but by all means if you wanna come across as a bitchy queen feel free. Seems like a complete waste of time and energy to devote any time on, but like I said that's your prerogative lol.
|by Anonymous||reply 223||Last Friday at 8:07 AM|
Oh FFS r223 Rannells is the epitome of a bitch queen and a try-hard. You don't have to personally know someone to get it. I don't personally know Trump but I know he's an asshole and a lunatic.
|by Anonymous||reply 224||Last Friday at 8:13 AM|
R224 When you have to justify yourself with a Trump example LMFAOOO I have to jump ship. Clearly you're just pressed, and not worth the argument. Stay mad! I'm sure it's K I L L I N G Andrew to not have your support, troll. Later lol.
|by Anonymous||reply 225||Last Friday at 8:16 AM|
Ok r225. Have fun with your cherry-picking in other threads.
