Facebook has been down for hours!!
What will all the selfie-sharing political meme-regurgitating people do? I have a funny cat video to share, dammit!
Oh, wait. DLers are too shy/afraid/elder to have an account, or pretend to be too young and cool for it.
What do you think the problem is? Russian hackers? Elizabeth Warren's anti-monopoly ads? Zuckerberg farted?
|by Anonymous||reply 179||03/18/2019|
People will have to start talking to each other in person.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||03/13/2019|
I just went to Facebook and it worked fine.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||03/13/2019|
I can't get on FB. Instagram is working, but it's glitchy.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||03/13/2019|
Both FB and IG are down, apparently, which is kind of strange.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||03/13/2019|
FB doesnt allow me to post, otherwise, it still sucks....
|by Anonymous||reply 5||03/13/2019|
The search function on DL isn't working for me. My only option is the archive search, which is not a useful way to find recent threads.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||03/13/2019|
I'm not on facebook, but Instagram seems to have problems right now too. Are they linked?
|by Anonymous||reply 8||03/13/2019|
OK- it's official: Facebook is down (mainly around the U.S. westcoast) and Instagram and whatsapp too (mainly in Western Europe). And DL is very "slow" too. Reddit still works but you never know... Let me just say: I'll miss you all. It was nice here and I've spent here many happy years.😥 😙 😪👋👋
|by Anonymous||reply 9||03/13/2019|
My Insta is back up, Facebook still not working.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||03/13/2019|
I fucking hope it will be down for eternity ... you morons need to find something more meaningful to fill your life with ...
|by Anonymous||reply 13||03/13/2019|
Europe here - Facebook and Instagram still both down for me.
Actually, I do suspect Kremlin-sourced hacking, as it happens. That was what it was last time. Interesting that happened at the same hour as the NY Manafort indictments.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||03/13/2019|
Instagram is being temperamental too.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||03/13/2019|
Facebook says it's down for "maintenance", although I've gotten an error message too.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||03/13/2019|
Facebook and IG have been down for a few hours from what I can tell. I'm in Italy. Santo cielo!
|by Anonymous||reply 17||03/13/2019|
This site is being glitchy as well.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||03/13/2019|
No worries everyone, we're just transmitting all your data and browser data to a group of undisclosed shadowy 3rd parties for analysis and offsite storage.
Thank you for your patience.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||03/13/2019|
What I find interesting is that Facebook is completely downplaying the scope of this and acting like no big deal. They've been down for hours in major urban areas and countries.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||03/13/2019|
Gmail and Google Docs were down last night, though most people didn't notice...
|by Anonymous||reply 23||03/13/2019|
It was today European time, R23. And YouTube was down too.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||03/13/2019|
Something Wicked This Way Comes!
|by Anonymous||reply 25||03/13/2019|
"FACEBOOK NEVER GOES DOWN!!
|by Anonymous||reply 26||03/13/2019|
And you're wasting your time on Datalounge, hypocritical bitch at R13.
Pipe the fuck down.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||03/13/2019|
FB owns insta and whatsapp. all 3 will be combined in the near future.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||03/13/2019|
Many websites are affected today—not Twitter though for some reason.
Kurt Eichenwald had a thread a bit ago on there cataloging all the sites experiencing this difficulty. Even the US Postal Service site.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||03/13/2019|
The end is near....someone hold me!
|by Anonymous||reply 32||03/13/2019|
This has to be Russia - they just don't want more bad news about Russia hacking all your Facebook data.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||03/13/2019|
Post pictures of what you had for lunch.....I can't get through the day unless I see those photos.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||03/13/2019|
DL has been acting weird all day. Dont tell me Aunt Becky's Desperate Housewives College Cheating Scandal of the 21st and a half Century has broke the internet gurl!
|by Anonymous||reply 36||03/13/2019|
It's not a coincidence all these sites have had problems. I wonder who's responsible and what they're up to.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||03/13/2019|
Could be the Chinese.
Also CIA was involved in some kind of break in to N.Korea's office in Madrid last month where computers were stolen. Maybe it's revenge. N. Korea has lots of hackers. They hacked themselves a lot of money last year.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||03/13/2019|
I hope FB is down forever. Fb Sucks.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||03/13/2019|
Cyber-terrorist attack. Russia, perhaps?
|by Anonymous||reply 40||03/13/2019|
Fb's system crashed coz they were busy downloading and selling our private data to other countries.
It's a HACK. they have never "maintained" their website for so long.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||03/13/2019|
They're trying to get all the nudes...go to work hackers!
|by Anonymous||reply 42||03/13/2019|
I think twitter is getting slower too.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||03/13/2019|
Facebook definitely sucks. I think the worst thing about it is all the laugh-emoji reactions from Trump trolls and their stupid “two years and still no collusion” comments. Total fucking morons. I get my news fastest through Facebook, just by following all the important news outlets and certain journalists on there, but the comments and the emoji reactions and the blissful ignorance with which the Trumptards flood it make it an agonizing experience. God only knows why I haven’t deleted it.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||03/13/2019|
It will be fun to see the withdrawal symptoms of social media addicts.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||03/13/2019|
Dear god, in the end will the only interactive medium left be datalounge and the Guardian sex advice column comments section???!!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 46||03/13/2019|
Why are you seeing rightwing tRump turds, R44? Punch and delete, as the ancient DL saying goes.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||03/13/2019|
Full House fans going on a rampage against the Internet
|by Anonymous||reply 48||03/13/2019|
BREAKING: Huffman and Loughlin paid someone off to take IG down so that people would stop saying bad things to their daughters.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||03/13/2019|
Because there are literally hundreds and hundreds of them, R47.
I wish I could just see the postings of the news articles without any of the likes, laughs, dislikes, love, etc. below it, but Facebook forces you to see at least the overview of the reactions.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||03/13/2019|
R49 that is funny, but actually probably true. Love it.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||03/13/2019|
[quote]Facebook definitely sucks.
That's nice. Meanwhile many of us use Facebook as a man marketing effort. It's one of my main supports for a side business that grosses over $100,000 a year. So laugh it up, furball.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||03/13/2019|
OMG not a [bold]man[/bold] marketing effort, a MAIN marketing effort!
|by Anonymous||reply 53||03/13/2019|
I didn't think anyone would be mocked for refusing to have their personal data harvested, commoditized and sold [bold]without monetary benefit[/bold], until I read OP.
I've read from some people that their relatives act like assholes on Facebook although they don't appear to be assholes in real life. Anonymity and pseudonymity don't factor into the antagonistic behavior.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||03/13/2019|
DL was down too, or at least gave me a Posting Error message when I tried to hit post. Looks all normal now, but had to re-login and lost all my threads.
Always, starting from scratch, bitches!
|by Anonymous||reply 55||03/13/2019|
DL had a weird soft primetime thing going on with the search function disabled. I went for a nap and there's been an explosion of replies in some threads now.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||03/13/2019|
I'm so confused right now. do I even exist?
|by Anonymous||reply 57||03/13/2019|
Does anyone really think its a coincidence the Internet goes down just as the mugshots for Loughlin and Huffman are to be posted? The Hallmark army is ruthless.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||03/13/2019|
Is DL owned by Facebook? why were both sites down at the same time?
|by Anonymous||reply 59||03/13/2019|
It was the Russian prostitutes thread that angered the trolls and broke the Datalounge.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||03/13/2019|
Mark Zuckerberg is doing this shit on purpose to passive aggressively counteract all the flack he’s been getting from politicians. He wants to show the world what it would be like to go without Facebook and Instagram. This is a message, an ultimatum to the world: either get off his back or he’s shutting everything down for good.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||03/13/2019|
R52 you sound like a bottom-feeder. Good luck selling your crap!
|by Anonymous||reply 62||03/13/2019|
Lesbians certainly had nothing to do with this!
|by Anonymous||reply 63||03/13/2019|
Sorry you are going through this crisis, but the OP comments about dl'ers being too elderly to be facebook users doesn't mesh with my impression that facebook's largest cabal of users ARE old people.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||03/13/2019|
Mark Zuckerberg is a madman, a megalomaniac who’s terrorizing the world right now in order to deliver a message. He believes we’ve taken Facebook for granted. He wants us to know what it would feel like if he took it all away.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||03/13/2019|
It personally would not bother me a bit, R65. But I do understand that some people use it for business purposes and that would be unfortunate for them.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||03/13/2019|
r65 your conspiracy theory attempts could use a bit more work.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||03/13/2019|
Yes, my mistake R64. We're all ancient doyennes tapping away like Miss Havisham with a laptop.
As for the Man Marketing (funny typo, we like it), R52, good luck. I have business pals who buy Facebook ads and mostly note a 2% click-through rate; not worth the money. FB also lies in their stats to advertisers, then deliberately hides non-paid posts to make you want to buy more ads. It's a massive shell game.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||03/13/2019|
r65 is a Russian troll trying to shift the blame to hated Mark Zuckerburg.
Nope, this has Russia all over it.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||03/13/2019|
Definitely hackers. I hope you guys didn't link your phone or credit cards to the site.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||03/13/2019|
FB down ... my life has got no sense of purpose anymore!
|by Anonymous||reply 71||03/13/2019|
Given how much it's borking other things, I doubt it's just Facebook. Probably some backend somewhere.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||03/13/2019|
[quote][R52] you sound like a bottom-feeder. Good luck selling your crap!
|by Anonymous||reply 73||03/13/2019|
FB is kind of back to normal for me now. How about IG?
|by Anonymous||reply 74||03/13/2019|
They are still borked for me on the West Coast. Takes forever to load.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||03/13/2019|
Sorry, something went wrong while loading this conversation.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||03/13/2019|
Thank God is back again .... I have thought my life was over ...
|by Anonymous||reply 77||03/13/2019|
It's not back for many. Now going on 6 hours....
|by Anonymous||reply 78||03/13/2019|
not back for me, i'm on the east coast
|by Anonymous||reply 79||03/13/2019|
Mine now says "account temporarily unavailable due to a site issue." Nothing, nada, zip.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||03/13/2019|
Also note that Russia (and China) seems to be free of any Facebook disruption. Gee, that's a coincidence.
This is a the longest they have ever been down and I bet it's costing them a fortune. Not to worry, they have the dough, but still.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||03/13/2019|
I couldn't post five minutes ago message was "Try Again"
|by Anonymous||reply 82||03/13/2019|
FB is not allowed in China.

BREAKING: Facebook is under criminal investigation for sharing your data with other tech companies without your approval or knowledge.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||03/13/2019|
Bad day for Mark and Sheryl
|by Anonymous||reply 85||03/13/2019|
R84, excellent. Fucking cunt! I fucking hate him and his Chinese spy wife! I have an account to keep in touch with relatives overseas but I don't link it to anything.
|by Anonymous||reply 86||03/13/2019|
IG is working for me except for that section with the heart where you see who's liking your pics and stuff; it's completely blank.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||03/13/2019|
It's working intermittently for me. Getting a lot of "Oops, an error occurred".
|by Anonymous||reply 88||03/13/2019|
I cannot post. Its all messed up. NOT a conspiracy guy, BUT feels like a test run, no?
|by Anonymous||reply 89||03/13/2019|
I worked for a streaming internet company and an outage that lasted this long would be a disaster. This has nothing to do with a feature release that went wrong or anything internal. Facebook is WAYYYYY too careful for that. This is a malicious attack, even if they don't want to admit it. They may not want to comment until they can say for sure where it is coming from. But It's very strange that they have had little comment all day long and act almost as if this was planned.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||03/13/2019|
I like the cat in OP's picture. Since FB is down, the cat is busy ordering treats on Amazon.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||03/13/2019|
This is definitely Aunt-Becky-related.
|by Anonymous||reply 93||03/13/2019|
Maybe Lori Loughlin's daughter, the ungrateful 19 year old brat at USC, did something to crash Insta and FB while removing her unfortunate video where she said she was only there for party days and didn't even care about school. Maybe she hired a hacker?
|by Anonymous||reply 94||03/13/2019|
Could aliens be involved?
|by Anonymous||reply 95||03/13/2019|

|by Anonymous||reply 96||03/13/2019|
Yesterday I had to uninstall my Google Chrome - the fonts were all jacked, like they were fading away or something. I will reinstall it tonight and see what happens.
|by Anonymous||reply 97||03/13/2019|
….and Facebook is STILL down, at least for me.
|by Anonymous||reply 98||03/13/2019|

Facebook is still down. But hey, you can still get all your news here:
|by Anonymous||reply 101||03/13/2019|
FB is working for me but glitchy. You have to click “like”’or “love” or “haha” several times to get it to stick.
IG is not really working much at all.
|by Anonymous||reply 102||03/13/2019|
R102, are you in the USA?
|by Anonymous||reply 103||03/13/2019|

|by Anonymous||reply 104||03/13/2019|
Facebook AND Instagram are down...
MySpace, it's your chance to make a comeback!
|by Anonymous||reply 105||03/13/2019|
This is most likely an attack. A group of social media platforms all having the same problem and lasting hours.
|by Anonymous||reply 107||03/13/2019|
Maybe I am punchdrunk from work. But R92 has me shaking with laughter right now.
"Since FB is down, the cat is busy ordering treats on Amazon."

How can I judge people if I can't see them?
|by Anonymous||reply 109||03/13/2019|
Kind of love it. It's giving us a feel of life without it.

Nutball qanons think it's all about THEM and the suppression of THEIR speech. These are the same people who keep expecting mass round ups and arrests of "deep state" figures including prominent journalists, academics, current and former government officials, libruls, etc., etc.

Is working in New Zealand
|by Anonymous||reply 113||03/13/2019|
someone posted on reddit :
I work for an IT security firm that supports major companies across NA.
Google had an attack overseas last night / this morning around 12:30-330am EST And now Facebook is being targeted.
They will be releasing a formal statement when their investigation is conclusive but this appears to be a eastern sourced attack on various American tech companies.
It's extremely complex, and won't get into details.
From all the support I've been giving, it seems that this is a coordinated assualt on Worldwide American infrastructure, but I don't state any governments and companies possibly responsible for this.
I would not be surprised if this leads to counter warfare.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||03/13/2019|
R114, was the Reddit poster OP's cat?
|by Anonymous||reply 115||03/13/2019|

I wonder if they'll be an uptick in births 9 months from now.
|by Anonymous||reply 116||03/13/2019|
Can also confirm it’s working now in New Zealand. But then again we do live in the future.

|by Anonymous||reply 122||03/13/2019|

I know someone at Hallmark. I don't think they are that organized. :-)

Careful, R124 - you sound like an uptight bitter queen in his mother’s basement in a square state, unable to engage with other people because he’s so rancid.
Enjoy your life, as much as you can!

|by Anonymous||reply 127||03/13/2019|
I don't use Facebook that much, but sometimes I post when I'm on a trip or going to someplace interesting locally. Today I was on one such local trip, and I had endless problems trying to post from my phone (in California.) Couldn't post, or reply to posts, or send messages via Messenger. But I could read posts, and see what I'd posted earlier. Very frustrating. Because I was in a remote area, I originally blamed the problem on bad cell service--but when everything else was working OK, I figured out it was just FB.
|by Anonymous||reply 128||03/13/2019|
R124, R123 here - the reason why I posted is not because I think that my access is important to anyone but me, but because, having a professional understanding of how global I.T. outages work, I know that the fixes are rolled out in waves. These are often based on “time zones” - being American, this may be a foreign concept to you.
As I’m currently working on the east coast of Australia I’m in roughly the same time zone as a couple of the largest metropolitan conurbations in the world - Tokyo/Yokohama in Japan population 40 million and the Pearl River delta (Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangdong and Macau) in China population 60 million.
The outage impacted us at the start of the working day here (see time zones above) so it may be interesting for those of us of working in the region and who have an understanding of the technical concepts (not you, obviously!) to see its resolution as it rolls across the globe.
Keep smiling R124!

Russian trolls famously used FB to launch propaganda attacks during the 2016 campaign that may have been the single biggest reason Trump won. Less than 12 hours after Paul Manafort - the Trumpist with by far the most *known* associates in Russia - was sentenced (for a second time), FB goes down. Coincidence?
|by Anonymous||reply 134||03/13/2019|
R114, that doesn't surprise me -- I had an issue with Gmail not working around that time and when FB and IG went down several hours later, I wondered if the two things were related.
|by Anonymous||reply 135||03/13/2019|
R136, Dyatlov, I’m assuming?
|by Anonymous||reply 137||03/14/2019|
DL broke down on me yesterday.
|by Anonymous||reply 140||03/14/2019|
Youtube has been signing me out.
|by Anonymous||reply 142||03/14/2019|
I didn't even know, until I saw it on the news this am. Rarely go on it.
|by Anonymous||reply 144||03/14/2019|
Do not panic! We know Facebook and Instagram are currently down, but we have trained to get you through this. For those in Insta withdrawal:
“Thought I looked cute, might delete later.”
|by Anonymous||reply 145||03/14/2019|
What I find really strange is that both Google and Facebook are being so quiet about what happened. Let's be real here - this was a major attack on them. Facebook's longest outage EVER (where they likely lost millions of dollars in advertising) and they have nothing to say about it????
They must be kind of scared that it was so easy to do and it literally took them hours on end to fix.
|by Anonymous||reply 146||03/14/2019|
I look forward to a weeks-long blackout. Just to see the people freak out.
|by Anonymous||reply 147||03/14/2019|
I’d love it if I woke up tomorrow and there was no more FB & Insta. People should have to get their own separate websites to spew their shit and sell us crap on.
|by Anonymous||reply 149||03/14/2019|
DL search is down again...I bet the Hearties are behind this
|by Anonymous||reply 150||03/14/2019|
Whatever advertising we may have lost in the outage will be made up (and then some!) by the payoffs we get for harvesting user data yesterday.
Don't cry for us, suckers.
|by Anonymous||reply 151||03/14/2019|
Yesterday's Russian hack of Facebook and Gmail seems to have taken down DL's search function, as well.
|by Anonymous||reply 152||03/14/2019|
Oh, no! Duplicate Housewife Whores threads! The horror!
|by Anonymous||reply 153||03/14/2019|
So Facebook has not divulged anything beyond it was not an attack - it was a server configuration error.
Do you think they owe us more than that?
|by Anonymous||reply 154||03/14/2019|
So what has happened to DL?
|by Anonymous||reply 155||03/14/2019|
DL has a search engine? Never worked for me...never.
|by Anonymous||reply 156||03/14/2019|
It's been infiltrated by right-wing and Russian trolls. But that was over three years ago.
|by Anonymous||reply 157||03/14/2019|
I read only 2 days ago that they were going to "out" the country of origin for every FB group. Perhaps they were so stunned by the number of hate groups based in Moscow, they just pulled their own plug before getting rid of them.
|by Anonymous||reply 158||03/14/2019|

|by Anonymous||reply 159||03/14/2019|

|by Anonymous||reply 165||03/14/2019|
