What will Meghan and Harry name their baby?

Place your bets.

by Anonymousreply 113March 15, 2019 5:08 PM

Miss Scarlett done told me if it was a girl she's going to name it Eugenie Victoria.

It's interesting so far most people are betting it's a girl. I have the weird feeling it will be a boy.

by Anonymousreply 3March 12, 2019 6:32 AM

They will almost certainly give it a typical royal name. Meghan wants so much to fit in.

It would be a huge mistake to name it Diana, but they may name her that anyway. If it's a girl they should name her "Frances," which was Diana's middle name and her mother's first name--it would still be a tribute to Harry's mother, but she wouldn't always be compared to THE Diana.

Spot on, R4. She'll want as royal a name as possible for this baby.

I agree with you that "Frances" would be a lovely, pitch-perfect tribute: clearly a reference to Diana, but not psychologically burdensome for her grandchild. But I don't think it would be grand enough for Meghan's tastes. I predict the baby will be named after a fairly recent royal, perhaps someone dear to the Queen or Prince Philip for maximum brown-nosing.

Does anyone think she might go with Margaret? On the surface, it would look like a tribute to the Queen's sister, but underneath, it would really be Meghan's tribute to herself. Meghan/Megan is a Welsh pet form of Margaret, so it would be her way of inserting her own name into the royal history books.

If I were having a royal baby, I'd look to the Hanovers to get some decent girl names- Sophia, Amelia, Caroline. I don't think they'll name any girls Elizabeth while the current queen is still alive. Mary is too dated. Not dated in a cute trendy way, just in a "Everyone over 65 is named Mary" kind of way.

If it's a boy, Philip, because he's about to kick the bucket and it'll be a nice homage.

by Anonymousreply 37March 13, 2019 1:47 AM

[quote] If it's a boy, Philip, because he's about to kick the bucket

I wouldn't be so sure. He overturned his car and walked away uninjured at the age of 97. I'm starting to think he's indestructable. Clearly, casual racism does a body good.

I think she and Harry are tacky enough to name a girl Diana. Diana Dodi Doria Mountbatten-Windsor.

For a boy Charles or Phillip. If they really wanted to irk the Cambridges, William.

by Anonymousreply 46March 13, 2019 3:33 AM

One of Charlotte's middle names is Diana and the other is Elizabeth. William and Kate are the brownest of the brown-nosers.

by Anonymousreply 47March 13, 2019 3:39 AM

its a girl. all the flowers for her baby shower were pink.

by Anonymousreply 49March 13, 2019 3:40 AM

Betcha if it's a girl, and they do the three names, one of the baby's names will be Doria, after Meghan's Mum. I think that's a pretty name.

by Anonymousreply 75March 13, 2019 2:11 PM

Beatrice Elizabeth Mary

Eugenie Victoria Helena

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

Please remember how fond Harry is of his grandfather. He adores Philip. So if it's a boy that name will feature.

Personally I think Maceo is a cool name.

by Anonymousreply 76March 13, 2019 2:16 PM

Harry might choose one of his own middle names- Charles or Albert

Or Henry and call him Henry

by Anonymousreply 77March 13, 2019 2:41 PM

If it's a boy, Philip, Charles and David (Patron saint of Wales) will be part of he name. He could be Henry II. Or Harold. Ugh.

by Anonymousreply 78March 14, 2019 2:35 AM

If it’s a boy, instead of Thunderpussy - could they go with Thunderdome?

by Anonymousreply 79March 14, 2019 3:26 AM

It could well be Arthur, which is Charles's favorite male name. It's a middle name for both William and George.

by Anonymousreply 80March 14, 2019 3:30 AM

If it's a girl, both Diana and Doria are likely middle names--both Harry and Meghan are obsessed with their mothers.

"Doria" could be a first name (since there is zero chance their child would inherit the throne). There is almost zero chance the child will be given "Diana" as a first name--it would mean too much media attention for the child.

by Anonymousreply 81March 14, 2019 3:34 AM

Pippa just named her kid Arthur so I'm guessing that name is off the table now.

by Anonymousreply 82March 14, 2019 3:34 AM

Pippa is no relation to Meghan, and neither she nor her baby is royal.

by Anonymousreply 83March 14, 2019 3:36 AM

Yes, but no way would they name their kid the same name as Pippa. They don't have to be related.

They won't want to be seen as 'copying'

by Anonymousreply 84March 14, 2019 3:39 AM

Cletus or Jésus if it's a boy. Gertrude if it's a girl.

by Anonymousreply 89March 14, 2019 4:16 AM

The queen has no say when it's this far removed from the throne.

She had no say when her only daughter told her she was going to name her daughter "Zara." She had no say because that child was only sixth in line to the throne at the time... and this child will be born only [italic]seventh[/italic] in line.

by Anonymousreply 90March 14, 2019 4:39 AM

Maybe it helped that Charles chose the name Zara. It is a weird one.
