He went into hiding due to death threats. After he was subpoenaed to testify in Jackson's criminal trial in 2005, he fled the country.

If I were him, I’d stay hidden. I clicked on a Twitter link from an article today and the obsession is deep there. It really wouldn’t surprise me if someone tries to physically come at Wade or Jimmy.
Everyone has picked their side. No one is changing their mind, short of Culkin or one of Michael’s own kids accusing him. Even then, they’d probably say that was a lie or finally admit none of his kids are his bio kids and say that’s why they were lying.
He stands nothing to gain by reappearing and part of him probably feels a little bit “fuck you guys, you let me twist in the wind when I was 12. You adult men can have the world hate and threaten you for a while.”
