Gay Man Missing In Quebec!
Ian Lambert was last seen leaving a house party in the western part of the Plateau district at about 9 p.m. on Feb. 16.
Family and friends have started a Facebook group and are encouraging everyone to widely share the photos and posts.
They say Lambert walked across the Champlain Bridge to Ottawa the night he disappeared and was last seen in the area of Wellington West and Hintonburg a day later.
The posters describe Lambert as six feet two inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes.
According to police he was last seen wearing a tuque and a multi-coloured scarf draped over a brown dress coat. He was also carrying a backpack.
Gatineau police are asking anyone with information related to Lambert's disappearance to contact them at (819) 246-0222.

What’s the Plateau district like? Where does that bridge go? Why would anyone walk in sub-zero temp?
Could he have been despondent, and jumped?

tuque is a Canadian term for a hat seen below

This actually makes no sense. Was he last seen the night he disappeared, or was he last seen a day later?

R7 the reddit page makes it a little clearer. He left the party and didn’t go home that night, but some people think they saw him in another area the next day. No way to confirm if it was him though.

Because, unlike bears, we can't hibernate through the winter.

Most likely he was drunk when he left the party and fell off the bridge.
Possibly he was mugged on the bridge and fell (or was pushed) during the scuffle. But at 6'2" I doubt anyone tried to mess with him unless he was out numbered or they had a gun.
But Datalounge will insist it was a gay rape gone wrong, long after the simplest explanation is proven twice over.

If he crossed the Champlain Bridge into Ottawa then he's missing in Ontario, but missing from Quebec? Or that he's a Quebec gay man who went missing? Maybe he passed out and froze to death. I'm not kidding, Ottawa can be colder than Mars on some winter days.

Champlain Bridge in the summer, links residential areas of Gatineau and Ottawa. The Plateau district in Gatineau is mostly recent-ish suburbia, while Hintonburg is a much older but gentrifying/hipster area of Ottawa.

Handsome. I'm sure the Canuck detectives are doing their best. If he went missing here in the U.S., they wouldn't give a flaming fuck unless he came from old Yankee blue-blood wealth. Just like they don't give a shite when a black or Mexican person disappears. God bless him.

Champlain Bridge doesn’t look like a pedestrian bridge r16. It looks like autos only. But maybe he walked over a different part of the bridge.
Also, 9 pm is kind of early to leave a party. Did he leave ... alone ??

R31 there have been at least 3 posts on Reddit, usually the same description/info followed by thoughts and prayers. The Facebook page has a bit more info (like his phone was apparently last “pinged” on the bridge). Hopefully the 3 police departments (Gatineau, Ottawa, and the RCMP since that bridge is federal/NCC property) involved manage to coordinate their efforts and tips/clues.

R34 actualy there is a concrete sidewalk but on one side only, and cycling lanes in both directions. Pedestrian paths at either end are probably challenging in winter, as the bridge ends in a scenic parkway context.

I've known him for years, although not terribly well. Senior government type, but personally kind of a mess. If he was seen in HIntonburg the next day, he might have spent the night at Ottawa's one remaining bathhouse. From there, I don't know.
