Gay Man Missing In Quebec!

Ian Lambert was last seen leaving a house party in the western part of the Plateau district at about 9 p.m. on Feb. 16.

Family and friends have started a Facebook group and are encouraging everyone to widely share the photos and posts.

They say Lambert walked across the Champlain Bridge to Ottawa the night he disappeared and was last seen in the area of Wellington West and Hintonburg a day later.

The posters describe Lambert as six feet two inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

According to police he was last seen wearing a tuque and a multi-coloured scarf draped over a brown dress coat. He was also carrying a backpack.

Gatineau police are asking anyone with information related to Lambert's disappearance to contact them at (819) 246-0222.

Any Quebecer Dataloungers know him or have theories?

by Anonymousreply 1March 10, 2019 2:39 AM

He's gorgeous! I would love to find him.

by Anonymousreply 2March 10, 2019 2:48 AM

[quote] He's gorgeous! I would love to find him.

and he was single

by Anonymousreply 3March 10, 2019 2:52 AM

What’s the Plateau district like? Where does that bridge go? Why would anyone walk in sub-zero temp?

Could he have been despondent, and jumped?

by Anonymousreply 4March 10, 2019 3:00 AM

What's a tuque?

by Anonymousreply 5March 10, 2019 3:15 AM

tuque is a Canadian term for a hat seen below

[quote]They say Lambert walked across the Champlain Bridge to Ottawa the night he disappeared and was last seen in the area of Wellington West and Hintonburg a day later.

This actually makes no sense. Was he last seen the night he disappeared, or was he last seen a day later?

by Anonymousreply 7March 10, 2019 3:30 AM

R7 the reddit page makes it a little clearer. He left the party and didn’t go home that night, but some people think they saw him in another area the next day. No way to confirm if it was him though.

by Anonymousreply 8March 10, 2019 3:33 AM

Was a smiley face painted nearby?

by Anonymousreply 9March 10, 2019 3:33 AM

Are patriotic Toques acceptable?

But patriotic M.A.G.A. hats despicable?

[quote]Why would anyone walk in sub-zero temp?

Because, unlike bears, we can't hibernate through the winter.

by Anonymousreply 12March 10, 2019 4:02 AM

Most likely he was drunk when he left the party and fell off the bridge.

Possibly he was mugged on the bridge and fell (or was pushed) during the scuffle. But at 6'2" I doubt anyone tried to mess with him unless he was out numbered or they had a gun.

But Datalounge will insist it was a gay rape gone wrong, long after the simplest explanation is proven twice over.

by Anonymousreply 13March 10, 2019 4:33 AM

Looks a bit like The Cockgobbler, no?

by Anonymousreply 14March 10, 2019 4:57 AM

If he crossed the Champlain Bridge into Ottawa then he's missing in Ontario, but missing from Quebec? Or that he's a Quebec gay man who went missing? Maybe he passed out and froze to death. I'm not kidding, Ottawa can be colder than Mars on some winter days.

by Anonymousreply 15March 10, 2019 5:02 AM

Champlain Bridge in the summer, links residential areas of Gatineau and Ottawa. The Plateau district in Gatineau is mostly recent-ish suburbia, while Hintonburg is a much older but gentrifying/hipster area of Ottawa.

Calling it now. He choked on smegma .

by Anonymousreply 17March 10, 2019 5:06 AM

Handsome. I'm sure the Canuck detectives are doing their best. If he went missing here in the U.S., they wouldn't give a flaming fuck unless he came from old Yankee blue-blood wealth. Just like they don't give a shite when a black or Mexican person disappears. God bless him.

by Anonymousreply 18March 10, 2019 5:35 AM

Good looking guy. I hope he turns up ok.

by Anonymousreply 19March 10, 2019 7:17 AM

Maybe he met a rich Prince Charming who flew (or carried?) him to Paris.

It could happen.

I know that area! There is a gay cruising area called Bate Island directly under the bridge. Kinda cold for that though.

by Anonymousreply 21March 10, 2019 9:03 AM

R9 Is the smiley face killer that is rumored to stalking and killing solitary homos around that area?

by Anonymousreply 22March 10, 2019 9:17 AM

You people only care because he was good looking, if he were ugly you wouldn't be here

by Anonymousreply 23March 10, 2019 10:25 AM

Quebec is notoriously homophobic.

by Anonymousreply 24March 10, 2019 10:32 AM

R18, do Canadian cops care about the gays? For some reason, some serial killer of gays in Toronto comes to mind

by Anonymousreply 25March 10, 2019 1:11 PM

There is v little violent crime in Ottawa.

by Anonymousreply 26March 10, 2019 1:40 PM

Exactly, R26. It's too cold for it.

by Anonymousreply 27March 10, 2019 3:20 PM

Temp that Saturday night was -17C or about 2F.

by Anonymousreply 28March 10, 2019 4:23 PM

[quote]He's gorgeous! I would love to find him.

Boy, I can only imagine you as a detective investigating a murder: "Let me see the victim's face... Ew, ugly. Don't waste my time."

by Anonymousreply 29March 10, 2019 5:38 PM

Tinymeat! Don't waste my time!

by Anonymousreply 30March 10, 2019 5:46 PM

No one knew him personally? Maybe Francophones are discussing his case somewhere I can't access because I don't speak French.

Pity that breeders and their crimes have a million pages dedicated to them, but a gay man's fate is of no interest.

by Anonymousreply 31March 10, 2019 7:15 PM

[quote]No one knew him personally?

Clearly a DLer

by Anonymousreply 32March 10, 2019 7:18 PM

He's probably on a bender with our dear friend, Tina.

by Anonymousreply 33March 10, 2019 8:21 PM

Champlain Bridge doesn’t look like a pedestrian bridge r16. It looks like autos only. But maybe he walked over a different part of the bridge.

Also, 9 pm is kind of early to leave a party. Did he leave ... alone ??

by Anonymousreply 34March 10, 2019 10:34 PM

R31 there have been at least 3 posts on Reddit, usually the same description/info followed by thoughts and prayers. The Facebook page has a bit more info (like his phone was apparently last “pinged” on the bridge). Hopefully the 3 police departments (Gatineau, Ottawa, and the RCMP since that bridge is federal/NCC property) involved manage to coordinate their efforts and tips/clues.

R34 actualy there is a concrete sidewalk but on one side only, and cycling lanes in both directions. Pedestrian paths at either end are probably challenging in winter, as the bridge ends in a scenic parkway context.

Intoxicated man + icy bridge = falling into river. The body will appear in the spring thaw.

And most people spell it this way: "Toque".

by Anonymousreply 42March 11, 2019 6:45 AM

Tuque would be the French spelling actually...

by Anonymousreply 43March 11, 2019 6:51 AM

Yeah and most Canadians speak English. So most people spell it this way: "Toque".

by Anonymousreply 44March 11, 2019 6:55 AM

It's a wool cap. Call it a wool cap.

by Anonymousreply 45March 11, 2019 6:57 AM

Just explaining it’s not a random typo, based on where he lived.

by Anonymousreply 46March 11, 2019 6:57 AM

I like "tuque" more than "beanie," which is what people call that kind of hat in America. A beanie to me is a yarmulke with a brim, not a woolen pull-on.

by Anonymousreply 47March 11, 2019 6:57 AM

It's Toque.

by Anonymousreply 48March 11, 2019 6:58 AM

I just read a detective novel that took place in Montreal in January. The author must have used the word "tuque" hundreds of times.

by Anonymousreply 49March 11, 2019 7:04 AM

He really does look cockgobbleresque.

by Anonymousreply 52March 15, 2019 2:49 AM

I hate these stories about missing gay men were we have to find out they committed suicide or were offed by trade. The story about the CDC officer in Atlanta last year was so sad.

by Anonymousreply 53March 15, 2019 3:52 AM

Missing person report still up on Gatineau PD, sadly.

by Anonymousreply 54March 15, 2019 10:07 AM

Suicide?

by Anonymousreply 55March 15, 2019 10:15 AM

I thought “tuque” was a typo and the author meant to write “toque”. Well, ya learn something new every day.

by Anonymousreply 56March 15, 2019 10:34 AM

I've known him for years, although not terribly well. Senior government type, but personally kind of a mess. If he was seen in HIntonburg the next day, he might have spent the night at Ottawa's one remaining bathhouse. From there, I don't know.

by Anonymousreply 57March 30, 2019 10:18 PM

He is not hot.

by Anonymousreply 58March 30, 2019 10:24 PM

R41 LOL at that restaurant name.

by Anonymousreply 59March 30, 2019 10:29 PM

Some young tuffs picked him up and tossed him over the bridge for kicks.

by Anonymousreply 60March 30, 2019 11:40 PM

I wouldn't walk across a long bridge like that in February. Seems odd.

by Anonymousreply 61March 30, 2019 11:45 PM

R60 that’s exactly what happened about 30 years ago, just a few miles from there, prompted the creation of the country’s first hate crimes unit.

by Anonymousreply 70April 18, 2019 7:39 PM

His friends say "foul play is not suspected”.

But what other play could have caused this handsome man's death?

by Anonymousreply 71April 19, 2019 1:55 AM

Sad ending, but it looks like he died doing what he loved...cruising.

by Anonymousreply 72April 19, 2019 11:38 AM
