by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 4, 2019 4:53 PM |
r5, I know, right?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 4, 2019 4:53 PM |
Poor Luke. It sounds like his family took him off life support. Good for them for not dragging this out.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 4, 2019 4:53 PM |
Well damn

I"m soooo sad :((((((((((((((((((
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 4, 2019 4:55 PM |
Did he smoke? I guess strokes can strike anyone. He looks fairly fit but looks are decieving. It's sad. He's quite young to go like this.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 4, 2019 4:56 PM |
Kinda was James dean of my generation ..crush on him and he had crazy girls show up for his mall appearance and they pushed security down..rip
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 4, 2019 4:56 PM |
What r9 said.
My mother refused to take her mother off life support because she was so Catholic, she KNEW she would burn in hell for the rest of time if she did. Two lives ruined. My grandmother hung on for eight years.
If I'd been older, I'd've taken charge. I wasn't.
Good for his family.
Let the "Did ____________ Tweet Anything Yet?" brigade take over.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 4, 2019 4:56 PM |
Didn't Shannen say he was doing good?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 4, 2019 4:56 PM |
R16, yes, he smoked when he was on the show
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 4, 2019 4:57 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 4, 2019 4:58 PM |
what was on his IPOD?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 4, 2019 4:58 PM |
I would've thought Shannen with her multiple cancer woes would've gone first.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 4, 2019 4:59 PM |
Wow! Wtf happened? Drugs?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 4, 2019 5:00 PM |
The news that a heartthrob from my teen years is now dead of an age-related cause is genuinely shocking and sobering to me.
I'm almost 40, and feel like I have maybe 10 good years left. It's true what they say: as you get older, time seems to pass faster and faster.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 4, 2019 5:00 PM |
R26, he had a massive stroke a few days ago.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 4, 2019 5:02 PM |
Very sad. Facially he looked much older.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 4, 2019 5:02 PM |
Spare me the weeping and wailing! Nobody has thought about this guy since 1995.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 4, 2019 5:02 PM |
I’m aware of that. Why? Drugs?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 4, 2019 5:03 PM |
I cant believe it. wow. I was just watching reruns of 90210 yesterday on hulu too.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 4, 2019 5:03 PM |
Was he still on Riverdale? I'm guessing if he was he'll be killed off.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 4, 2019 5:04 PM |
Who?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 4, 2019 5:04 PM |
R5, evil is hard to kill.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 4, 2019 5:04 PM |
He was a has-been. Why all the fuss?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 4, 2019 5:04 PM |
This will put a damper on the reboot.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 4, 2019 5:05 PM |
R31, he was actually talked about a lot during the past month with the reboot. Either way it's shocking for a 90s preteen/teen, he was a huge icon back then.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 4, 2019 5:05 PM |
After Jack is killed, while he's still in their cabana.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 4, 2019 5:05 PM |
Holy shit. I don't know why but this has really hit me harder than expected.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 4, 2019 5:06 PM |

The Prodigy singer, Dylan form 90210. The 90s die today!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 4, 2019 5:07 PM |
I'm guessing the 90210 soundtrack was on his IPOD! Featuring hits from Shanice, Jeremy Jordan, and Vanessa Williams!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 4, 2019 5:08 PM |
So young...
by Anonymous | reply 50 | March 4, 2019 5:08 PM |
Oh no! Rip.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 4, 2019 5:09 PM |
Fuck, I knew it. It's the same situation as with Carrie Fisher, where she died on the plane and they were just making the preparations to announce it to everyone. Someone suggested the same a couple of days ago in another thread and everyone went nuts.
My childhood crush. I felt the first homosexual stirrings in my pants when I was growing up and learning English by watching Beverly Hills.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 4, 2019 5:09 PM |
Christopher Plummer will be replacing him on Riverdale.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 4, 2019 5:09 PM |
I was just thinking that, R47. Keith from Prodigy kills himself and then Luke Perry dies. Not a good day for people who were teens in the 90s.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 4, 2019 5:10 PM |
Can we have his stuff?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 4, 2019 5:10 PM |
R53, I laughed.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 4, 2019 5:10 PM |
No reason to hire Shannen for the reboot now.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 4, 2019 5:10 PM |
The real tragedy is that it was not a fish instead.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 4, 2019 5:11 PM |
[quote] My childhood crush. I felt the first homosexual stirrings in my pants when I was growing up and learning English by watching Beverly Hills.
That is so cool r52. What is your first language?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 4, 2019 5:11 PM |
[quote]Christopher Plummer will be replacing him on Riverdale.
Figures. Get another white male for the job, when there are plenty of qualified transgendered women available.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 4, 2019 5:11 PM |
R41, I stopped watching after Brenda left. Why do I think a song called 'can't cry hard enough' by the Williams Brothers played when Dylan's father died. I must be misremembering that he died, I just remember Dylan crying and that song playing over a montage.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 4, 2019 5:11 PM |
Shame on you, R31, didn't you ever see Sunset Boulevard? If Hedda Hopper were here, she'd poke you with a hat pin.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 4, 2019 5:11 PM |
RIP Luke
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 4, 2019 5:12 PM |

Any statement from big-dicked co-star Jason Priestly?
by Anonymous | reply 66 | March 4, 2019 5:13 PM |
Shannon was interviewed over the weekend and she said nothing as none of the Riverdale cast did but you could tell from her face that it was bad.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | March 4, 2019 5:13 PM |
RIP
by Anonymous | reply 68 | March 4, 2019 5:13 PM |
Perry's publicist confirmed the death to the Associated Press, saying he suffered a stroke last week.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | March 4, 2019 5:14 PM |
Didn't has race cars and have some huge accident that almost killed him a number of years ago? Maybe his health had always been 'compromised' since then?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 4, 2019 5:15 PM |
The Like Perry is DEAD to me Troll is gnashing his teeth.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 4, 2019 5:15 PM |
R70 I think that was Jason Priestly
by Anonymous | reply 72 | March 4, 2019 5:16 PM |
R70, that was Jason Priestly. That said, Luke looked unwell. Certainly looked much older than 52.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | March 4, 2019 5:16 PM |
90210 cast cursed?
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 4, 2019 5:17 PM |
He's only dead to us, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 4, 2019 5:17 PM |
I always get Luke Perry and Jason Priestly confused. Luke was the American one and Jason Priestly the Canadian one right?
by Anonymous | reply 76 | March 4, 2019 5:17 PM |
Sad. I LOVED him on 90210. So much sexier than Priestley.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 4, 2019 5:17 PM |
This would be a GREAT day to hit mom up for money.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 4, 2019 5:18 PM |
R27, I'm sure every generation goes through this, but it does seem like the major stars from GenX are dying younger than expected, often from overdose or suicide.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | March 4, 2019 5:18 PM |
His family, including his kids and ex-wife, were all gathered round, so his death has been expected since the initial stroke. Sad when anyone dies so young.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | March 4, 2019 5:18 PM |
[quote] yes, he smoked when he was on the show...
But did he eat kale?
by Anonymous | reply 81 | March 4, 2019 5:18 PM |
R76 Yes, Jason is Canadian.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 4, 2019 5:18 PM |
R76 Jason is the BIG dicked one; Luke was the small dicked one.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 4, 2019 5:18 PM |
Sad that the Republican at r61 is just using this as a chance to attack trans people. Go back to free republic.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | March 4, 2019 5:18 PM |
I'm a Riverdale fan, R31. The show is a mess (which is why I love it) but he was integral to it.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | March 4, 2019 5:19 PM |
He wasn't a has been. Check out Luke's IMDB. He worked a lot. At least he wasn't a baller, so the kids/wife/girlfriend should be well taken care of.
No pathetic GoFundMes like Chris' Dragon Lady and sister.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | March 4, 2019 5:19 PM |
They have to bring it up in every damn thread, R84. It's a compulsion.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | March 4, 2019 5:19 PM |
Damn. I had a feeling after the stroke news he wasn't going to make it. RIP
by Anonymous | reply 88 | March 4, 2019 5:19 PM |
Wow, death of an icon. RIP
by Anonymous | reply 89 | March 4, 2019 5:20 PM |
That is so sad, ya know not a single person anything bad to say about him through all his years in the industry. Everyone saw him as humble and sweet.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | March 4, 2019 5:20 PM |
Shit! I never read the stroke thread. I figured it would just be tiresome talk about drugs and he would be fine. Sad. RIP
by Anonymous | reply 91 | March 4, 2019 5:20 PM |
Luke always seemed like a nice guy.
If you look at all of the initial tweets from Hollywood actors (from all walks) after his stroke, it seems that Luke was really beloved.
What a bummer.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | March 4, 2019 5:21 PM |
So young RIP Luke you are loved.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | March 4, 2019 5:22 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 97 | March 4, 2019 5:23 PM |
I was in high school in the early 90s and 90210 was HUGE. If you're from my age group, you'll remember how famous Luke Perry was back then.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | March 4, 2019 5:23 PM |
This is terrible news. I feel like taking to my bed and playing “Losing my Religion” on a loop.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | March 4, 2019 5:23 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 100 | March 4, 2019 5:24 PM |
Liar!
by Anonymous | reply 101 | March 4, 2019 5:24 PM |
It would be inspired stunt casting to have Jason Priestly replace Perry on Riverdale. Archie's Dad goes into witness protection/is dismayed by his wrinkles/starts eating kale and comes back the same age but "refreshed".
by Anonymous | reply 102 | March 4, 2019 5:24 PM |
R84 Go the fuck home. Not the time or place for your agendifying.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | March 4, 2019 5:26 PM |
Was he Katie Perry's cousin?
by Anonymous | reply 104 | March 4, 2019 5:26 PM |
Fifty two was right about the time I went on hypertensive medication. I tried reducing sodium, I lost 20 lbs (I only need to lose 15), I did what I could to lower my blood pressure naturally, but eventually I accepted that I would need to be on blood pressure drugs the rest of my life so I wouldn’t have a stroke.
Poor guy. He may have had an aneurysm or an AVM.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | March 4, 2019 5:26 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 106 | March 4, 2019 5:26 PM |

Looks who's talking. r61 started by bashing trans people in a thread that is not about trans people.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | March 4, 2019 5:27 PM |
Oh my God! Which one of the Friends was he again?
by Anonymous | reply 108 | March 4, 2019 5:27 PM |
I know r27. When famous members of your cohort start to die it's reminder of your own mortality.
Twice it hit me the same way as Luke Perry' death hit you: when Farrah Fawcett died, and, although she's still alive, something died when I watched Madonna's 2012 Super Bowl performance.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | March 4, 2019 5:27 PM |
That hunky beach photo of Luke and Jason at R66 reminds me of something a 90s comic (for the life of me, I can't remember which one) said about the pair:
"They look like they have one brain between them. And four penises."
by Anonymous | reply 111 | March 4, 2019 5:27 PM |
[quote] If you're from my age group, you'll remember how famous Luke Perry was back then.
I had fantasies about 3-ways with Luke Perry and Jason Priestly and also Johnny Depp and Dustin Nguyen from 21 JUMP STREET.
In those early years Fox has some sexy young men in their lineup
by Anonymous | reply 112 | March 4, 2019 5:28 PM |
I read somewhere recently that Millennials will be shocked at the sheer volume of Boomer deaths, that it will feel like someone they know dies every other day, because of the massive numbers of boomers that will die in coming years.
I didn't word that very well but you get my drift...
by Anonymous | reply 113 | March 4, 2019 5:28 PM |
I don't understand why everyone is so upset. Did any of you know him personally?
by Anonymous | reply 114 | March 4, 2019 5:29 PM |
R107 I agree. So many have to twist a thread in a direction it was never meant to go to.
Luke was trans friendly from what I heard anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | March 4, 2019 5:29 PM |

She looked like a nearly dead 85 year old woman. Quelle surprise.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | March 4, 2019 5:31 PM |
He's always looked so much older than his age -- The Simpsons had a joke about it where a star who looked like Perry was described on the red carpet as "The star of the most popular teen show on television. He's hot, he's sexy, he's 37!"
by Anonymous | reply 122 | March 4, 2019 5:32 PM |
I guess for Riverdale that means Archie's mom, Mary Andrews (played by Molly Ringwald) will move to Riverdale for good.

by Anonymous | reply 125 | March 4, 2019 5:34 PM |
I was hoping he'd be ok enough to make an Anicin commercial. ANNNICIN....Fight. Pain. And. Win. Patricia Neal

by Anonymous | reply 129 | March 4, 2019 5:35 PM |
R114, it’s the shock of a “teen idol” from the 1990s passing in 2019, albeit he always looked (and was in fact) older, gets us all thinking about our mortality.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | March 4, 2019 5:36 PM |

I met Luke Perry in ‘06 - he came home to Ohio to campaign for Sherrod Brown (Sherrod’s father, a Mansfield doctor, delivered Luke).
Luke did events across Ohio. We offered a driver, but his high school buddy drove him in a beat up car. Zero ego.
I’m very sorry for his family.

Wow - so young to die of a stroke. That said I'm a couple years older. If you go by family history my father had his first heart attack when he was 42. I never had one. And my risk level for stroke is low. Plus my genome says I'm good to 100+ years. So there's that.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | March 4, 2019 5:47 PM |
Perry had the same gray look that James Gandolfini had in the years before his early death.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | March 4, 2019 5:51 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 162 | March 4, 2019 5:52 PM |
R27, you think you have 10 good years left???
Sweetheart, listen, take GOOD care of yourself. Change your eating habits if they’re poor, stop smoking if you do, cut back on the booze or entirely stop drinking if you drink, and start exercising everyday. Also, take really good care of your teeth and gums. You have much longer than 10 good years left. Geez!
I’m really sorry to hear this. But it wasn’t likely he’d survive a massive stroke at any age, especially if he smoked and had underlying heart/circulatory/respiratory conditions that he wasn’t aware of.
Fuck. RIP, dude.

I think his father died quite young, 35 or 36 if I recall correctly. I believe it was heart related.
Very sad to hear that he could not recover, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

R153’s linked story reminds me that I worked with his best friend’s fiancée at the height of Luke’s fame. It really did sound like he never forgot where he came from. She said he would just hang out like a townie, eating dinner at the parents of friends and cruising the town and cornfields.
I think he was going to be their best man.

by Anonymous | reply 192 | March 4, 2019 6:22 PM |
His haggard appearance could have been due to the same underlying health problem that also contributed to the massive stroke. People can have health problems that aren't drug related. It could be a combo of smoking plus genetics. Most smokers don't die at 52.

That gray, colorless looking skin in his later photos is smokers skin. Lack of circulation causes the skin to thicken and lose color. That said this feels like a kick in the ass for me. I’ve been depressed lately about my age and feeling like I’m too old to find happiness or have any fun. But all I can think now is how Luke Perry was still so young to die. It’s time for me to snap out of it and be more optimistic about my future.

He's dead, he doesn't know anything anymore. Knowing requires brain functioning and his brain will never function again. Those of us who are still living, however, know. The body decays, its molecules are rearranged, and the matter that once made him up goes on to other uses.

R123 FWIW (and for those who actually ever give a thought to Riverdale), I believe you must be correct and Molly R will be asked to take a recurring role as Archie’s mom. They can’t recast the role of Archie’s dad and there’s no plausible reason for him to leave town, so he will have to be killed off as tastefully as possible I suppose.

I think the thing that made him memorable was that his beauty - such as it was - seemed completely unaffected and realistic. Jason Priestly looked like a movie star. Luke Perry looked like the guy who fixes your car and is really amazingly hot except you never think about it because he's fixing your car. There was just something approachable and down-to-earth about him. I think this was borne out in real life as he never seemed to display any ego or bad behavior even when he would have been given tremendous leeway. As the only member of the cast who was able to get along with Shannon Doherty, he seemed like a peace-maker. I'm sorry he went so suddenly and so soon.
If he had been cast as James in the original Twin Peaks...

Perry had a colorectal cancer scare in 2015, when doctors found and removed precancerous growths from the actor.
“If I had waited [to be screened], it could have been a whole different scenario,” he told Fox News in 2017 after making a recovery.
The close call forced him to nearly give up his love of red meat.
“I have significantly cut down on the amount of red meat that I eat,” he said. “I used to be like a steak-and-potatoes-every-night kinda guy, now it’s just for special occasions.”

Unlike many television actors, Luke Perry's celebrity and fanbase straddled generations.
Those who grew up in the 1990s will remember him best as brooding heartthrob Dylan McKay in Beverley Hills, 90210.
But many younger fans know him as Fred, the father of Archie Andrews, from comic book adaption Riverdale.
Since news of his death broke on Monday, fans young and old have been sharing their memories of, and warm encounters with, the late star.

I’m wondering whether it’s a legacy of partying in Hollywood at the height of his fame?
I mean - he smoked - he probably enjoyed a drink - he looked skinny as always - but appeared about ten years older than his actual age. And yeah - his dad died young - so possibly just genetic... but:
I saw stats that said something like a thousand people under thirty have strokes in the uk every year - attributable to coke use. And there were rumours after Robin Williams death that many big Hollywood and New York scene party people from the eighties and nineties were now starting to get anxious about the effects of earlier excess - Parkinson’s has been linked to heavy coke use - heart problems - stroke...
He was one of the most famous people in the world at the height of his fame - and you know coke was available freely at parties and places he went to - and it certainly got a grip on people he worked with like Doherty and Chris Farley...
He might have not used it for years - but maybe - given a genetic predisposition - it contributed to this?
Party hard as you like kids - but just remember - it always comes at a cost...
(And if he never touched the stuff - ever! - then I apologise and stand corrected. But face it - it was endemic at the levels of fame in which he moved - the cool kids were all doing it! - who among us wouldn’t have been tempted to join in and try just a little toot or two...? )

my daughter is the same age as Luke. She had a stroke 6 years ago. She never smoked and never used drugs. Her prognosis was a nursing home for the rest of her life and she would never speak again. If you didn't know her before the stroke you would never know today that she had one. She works for a company in which she worked with people all over the US and Canada. They rallied around her like you wouldn't believe. I attribute her recovery to all the support she received. (and God)

R52 Yes you were right. Let me give you a heads up for the future(when hearing about people who have had a stroke, heart attack, accident etc.)
If CPR is being administered, the patient victim IS dead. You do not give CPR to someone having a pulse or is breathing.
No pulse+ no breath= DEAD. IT is possible to keep the blood flowing to the brain through CPR until the victim can be treated by an MD with advanced equipment and procedures, but again, they were DEAD. You are merely keeping them from becoming hopelessly brain damaged by doing CPR.
It never fails to amaze me that so many people don't truly understand what CPR is.

I’m very cautious about attributing anyone’s recovery to God because it’s actually an insult to those who don’t survive their illnesses. When I hear folks say God cured their cancer it hits me because in that case God decided to take my brother at 42 away from his daughter and God decided to give my mother an agonising death from lung cancer......some things are better kept to oneself I think.
Luke doesn’ t look well to me in recent pictures. I wonder if he had underlying health issues or perhaps hard living caught up. A lot of straight men avoid doctors and never get a check up even if they have excellent health plans and most smokers I know avoid the doctor because they know they will get a hard time and be told to quit. So who knows if he was getting checkups.

Christ, all of this theorizing about "why" Luke Perry suffered a fatal stroke at 52. He's dead. Does it really matter? All of the retroactive health advice on this thread isn't going to bring him back. It's not for you to understand. Doctors can only do so much and still can't explain why some people get certain ailments and others don't. Why some beat it and some don't. Why some survive a stroke and some don't. Be mad all you want to. If you stick around and/or make it through an illness you be thankful. Appreciate the people while they are here. GOD can change it up at any time or not. Bottom line. Be pissed off all you want, it's not gonna do anything for you.

I'm a little older than Luke Perry and did a lot of coke in the 80's with my fast living friends. None of us party like that anymore and we are all still here...and we are all healthy and one reason is none of us smoked. I wouldn't blame this stroke on 1980's coke snorting, the brain is neuroplastic and can recover from that, smoking, otoh, is like playing with the devil and if he had a family history of heart disease, well, odds are not in his favor. Really sad, he seemed like one of the few nice guys in Hollywood. Cigarette smoking must be one of the hardest habits to quit.

I posted on the other thread when it was first announced Luke Perry had a stroke. I won't repeat myself, but I knew what the protocol was since my mom had a stroke and I dealt with the doctors. I knew with a massive stroke he couldn't recover. One thing I learned, I always thought swallowing was a natural reaction, and found out it is a learned behavior.
Anyway, with my mom, knowing the condition she was it, I would tell her it was OK to let go. I was fortunate she had a living will and quality of life was important. Unlike Luke my mom survived for almost three weeks. The doctors ignored her living will and I had to get attorneys involved to make them abide by her will. She died a day after my birthday. Although painful, letting someone know it is OK to go is one of the best gifts you can give them.

Thank you R404. There are so many insidious diseases that most of us would say we don't want to die of. People need to be aware, just because someone has excellent health insurance doesn't mean they take advantage of it. Most of us probably would have to admit we don't see the doctor often enough because we are feeling good.
I didn't follow Luke's career, but I saw a clip someone posted from Riverdale. He didn't sound good to me, but that obviously is in hindsight. I feel for his young children.

R409, I didn't watch the local or national news, was it a top story? Personally, I think this is a huge deal for the younger gen xers. Tributes were all over my FB timeline. I mean Leonardo DiCaprio even paid tribute to him. 90210 was huge and stars were iconic back then, less so now with all the tv options. So Perry is a part of a lot of people's childhood. I doubt 25 years from now anyone will remember the young stars of Riverdale. He was way too young to die, especially from a stroke.

Strokes happen to even young people. I know a guy who is 32 now who had one about 3 or 4 years ago. He’s okay and on medication, but you just never know.
It will be interesting to see if they do an autopsy and release details of his physical condition.

In a 2010 interview with Mike Hughes, a syndicated columnist, Perry said he still lived a simple life, like the one he had in Mansfield and Fredericktown. It was a bit unusual to his Californian neighbors.
"I think I'm the only person on the block who does his own gardening and cuts his own grass," Perry told Hughes with a laugh from his Hollywood home. "People drive by and wonder what I'm doing."

Luke Perry is forever our heartthrob. 💗 From a teen idol on ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ to a top TV dad on @CW_Riverdale, he captured the hearts of generations of fans. We're celebrating the actor’s life with a special online tribute:
by Anonymous | reply 451 | March 5, 2019 1:25 PM |
I think the point here isn’t so much whether not he smoked too much or didn’t avail himself of good healthcare. My BIL died three years ago: started talking gibberish to a neighbor who got him to the ER within ten or fifteen minutes and never woke up again. He was 53 and in excellent health.
What we can all learn from this is to get your affairs in order so your family doesnt have to jump through hoops - while they’re confused, frightened and grieving - to honor your wishes.

OK, first off MARY! I had zero reason why any of these actors would fuck me up if they died. I did think Shannen was going to be the one to go, if that. I was never a "rabid" fan of the show until I guess I was. I had a hot relationship that was tied into the show. He was younger than I was. He always made those shitty Pillsbury cinnamon buns before we watched the show. It was cozy. I feel sad as fuck, and no apologies for it. He was one of the best lays ever, but I digress...

I hope so too. I have seen a few situations in which awful people's last years are spent in physical misery. I had a great uncle who physically and emotionally abused his family. The last ten years of his life he dealt with cancer, dementia, and a stroke.
My partner's paternal grandmother is a very nasty lady. She emotionally abused her kids and three of her eight kids have zero contact with her. My partner's father has a distant and limited relationship with her. The grandmother is 85 and has been wheelchair bound for the past ten years due to a stroke. I have a few elderly relatives around her age and they are quite healthy and they are good people. So sometimes good people do live long healthy lives. But, yeah it does piss me off that some awful people live longer than some good people.
by Anonymous | reply 495 | March 5, 2019 10:01 PM |
OT; What I really want to see is after Trump is gone from Washington and is deeply into dementia but with just enough lucidity left to realize what's going on, and his two corrupt sons maneuver things so that he is kicked out of the day to day management of his company leaving it to them to run while he sits at home watching those two run the company into the ground. I want to see the whole lot of them having to declare personal bankruptcy before Trump croaks. If the feds could find enough crooked goings on in the company to arrest them all and take the company away from them would even be better.

Jason Priestly releases a statement:
“It’s taken me a couple of days to figure out how to write this,” Priestley began. “My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really cared… Luke was not only a star, he was an incredibly bright light that was extinguished far too soon… and that is why I, and so many others, are in so much pain today.”
“If you had the good fortune to know Luke, or to have ever crossed his path, I know you are sad today as well,” Priestley continued. “The candle that burns twice as bright only burns for half as long… you burned oh, so brightly Luke… Goodnight Sweet Prince.”

One of 90210's writer/producers Larry Mollin did a real dishy interview a few years back where he said that the cast who stayed on after their initial 5 year contracts, HATED doing the show but the money was too good, they also objected, Luke did himself in Entertainment Weekly in 1994, to the show going from a realistic family drama/afternoon school special feel of the early years to an all out Melrose Place style nighttime soap opera during the college/post college years
In fact Shannen claimed she wasn't fired but wanted out of her contract after she found the direction the show was going in wasn't for her, she said she quit because "I didn't want to be on a soap opera anymore".

Well, it is true the show sank after they graduated from high school. I couldn't stand Dylan and Kelly either. Nobody had a problem with them betraying Brenda. I know Shannen was on the outs with everyone in those days, but that was terrible writing. I stopped watching before it got OTT bad.

Incidentally, when I was 20 in 2000, I had a crush on a 34-year-old co-worker. He had bright blue eyes, honey blond hair, and was just striking. Eventually, we started hanging outside of work. Anyway, that spring his wife held a party in honor of 90210's series finale. I think even if the show had gone off the rails, it still had a devoted following.

Something about this is fishy. He looked a bit rough in his final days. Could cocaine be responsible for such a massive stroke? It could, couldn’t it?
by Anonymous | reply 572 | March 7, 2019 3:27 PM |
Honey, he’s been technically looking rough since 90210. His incredible beauty let him get away with his grill pan forehead (which I though was the sexiest and most manly thing ever). Luke Perry was never going to age well.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | March 7, 2019 3:38 PM |
He looked ashen last year at comicon . Why didn’t anyone insist on him seeing a doctor?
by Anonymous | reply 574 | March 7, 2019 3:40 PM |
[quote]r560 Jason Priestly: “You burned oh, so brightly Luke… Goodnight Sweet Prince.”
Should have a comma after brightly.

Shows about high school always lose their way when the kids go to college -- remember, many of the producers went to college on the subway, so they can't fathom dorm life or frats.

[quote]remember, many of the producers went to college on the subway, so they can't fathom dorm life or frats
Darren Star went to UCLA (from Potomac, MD).
Chuck Rosin went to Berkeley (from BH 90210).
Larry Mollin went to Georgetown (from LI).

He was a lifelong chain smoker y’all. That ‘s what really kept him thin. 30 years of cocaine would have just bankrupted him (eg Corey Feldman and Corey Haim)

R580 someone up thread said he quit years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 581 | March 7, 2019 10:17 PM |
People (especially men) who are thin and very lean almost always age quicker than others. They have very little fat layer under the skin to keep the wrinkles away. As they age and the skin begins to crepe (as it does with most people) it really takes a toll on their looks.

That someone said "I read it somewhere" without a link.
Luke smoked like a fiend until the end.

And you R583 don't have a link to he "smoked like a fiend until the end."
by Anonymous | reply 584 | March 7, 2019 10:38 PM |
Yes, he may have quit a few years ago but decades of damage has already been done and he ate a lot of steak until a few years ago too when they found precancerous cells when checking his colon.
Is he gonna be buried or cremated?
by Anonymous | reply 585 | March 7, 2019 11:40 PM |
r582 Luke Perry's wrinkles didn't make him look bad, it was his skin color that made him look unwell.

[quote]they were young, popular, incredibly famous and overpaid so they probably all took turns at being cunts. Except the one that played Andrea since she was lucky not to be cut from the show
I think Shannen was the one who got a lot of heat for cunt behavior, but somehow the others didn't. Jennie was known to be bitchy to female cast members who were added in the college year seasons like Tiffani Amber Thiessen, Emma Caulfied, Vanessa Marcil and Kathleen Robertson. I think it was Tiffani and Vanessa who said in interviews that Jennie didn't like them.
by Anonymous | reply 593 | March 8, 2019 3:31 AM |
Jenny does seem like an insufferable cunt irl.

On Jenni’s reality show on CMT about 7 years ago, she was a total asshole and looked like shit.
