I’m watching Isaac Mizrahi on QVC
Going on about how faaaabulous these polka dot fashion bug tops are. It’s just a parade of pastel polyblend tunics. He’s gasping and talking about how expensive they look.
I know we all gotta make a living, but it’s QUITE a fall from those days spent swanning around with Naomi and Linda.

What happened to him? Unzipped was great and then he disappeared.

Every thing is on 5 easy pays now; they never used to do that. QVC is in trouble.

Everything is poly or rayon now because it's cheaper and the porkers who shop QVC demand clothing with lots of stretch.

Now he's like an old Garment District Jew selling schmattas off a cart.

But he’s one of the most iconic names in fashion!

I think he is the father of Sandra Bernhard's daughter

Does he have any connection to the higher-end fashion world? Or is that long gone? I haven't followed fashion in a long time, and even when I did, I don't really recall him being a name.

He used to be cute. Did he age well?

It is kind of sad he’s on that Network. But he must be making good money to be there.
By the way, who the hell is Dennis Basso?? He’s on the network as well and his voice is really jacked. I’ve never heard of him before but the ladies on the network go on and on about his fashion shows! Where? Who attends?

Most people don't give a fuck about social status and credibility when they can make a quick buck. And I am sure Isaac is making hundreds of million off of QVC. Isaac is the very definition of a sellout.

A friend of mine who works for him said that Miss Thing needs to speak to 3 professional psychologists just to get out of bed each Morning. She's a MESS.

Hundreds if millions? Really? That seems excessive.

Likewise Iman. She has a cheap clothing line she hawks on QVC too. It’s sad. Does she need the money that bad? She was a supermodel and married to David Bowie fer chrissakes.

I liked his clothes back in the day. I even liked some of his Target stuff. I hope he can make a comeback.

Iman is on HSN. Issac also grabbed Scarlett Johansson breast at the Golden Globes a few years back. Did he get blacklisted by Hollywood after that?

No R19. Wacky asexual queens get a pass in the #metoo era.

Dennis Basso is the other big Queen on QVC. The hosts are always talking about his runway shows and enormous store on Fifth Avenue.

I don't want this to come off as bitchy, R22, but I am the other big Queen on QVC.

I like to watch the shopping networks as an antidote to cable news. It amuses me to watch those shills going on and on gloriously describing the most mundane merchandise. There's one female designer I hate, Lori Goldstein, who designs layered clothing so that a woman is wearing multiple tops of different uneven lengths. The outfits are terrible.

I agree about LG. Most of her clothes look like they were accidentally sewed into a sheer curtain and they couldn't be bothered to fix it.

Isaac Mizrahi was hilarious on Project Runway. I think he's probably making a lot of money on QVC. I just checked QVC. David Venable should be on (it's Sunday) and he's not! Maybe on vacation.

He was on the Andi Cohen Programme the other night. He was EXHAUSTING and a little drunk. Even Andi seemed a tad put out by Issac.
I would like to read his book, though.

David Veneble is the star attraction at the International Food Expo in Chicago this weekend. That’s why he isn’t doing In tke Kitchen today.
QVC is taking advantage of David’s absence by airing their big fashion show in his time slot. And it stars.....Isaac Mizrahi! So all is still gay at QVC on this chilly Sunday afternoon.

I guess Isaac's schtick is to seem dizzy, distracted, somewhat bored. I really don't get it, think it must be exhausting for the host to keep up with him, always wondering "where's he going now?" or "what's he going to say that's a non-sequitor?"

Most of the big name designers keep an aloof cool about themselves and a little bit of mystery. Mizrahi was too clownish, too revealing about himself to build a luxury brand.
He would have been great as the center square on Hollywood Squares.

Isaac is one of those gays who gives you a dirty look and walks away unless you’re a celebrity or someone who can further his career. He and Andy Cohen are so alike, both of them struggle to pretend that “the little people” matter.

David Dangle is an incredibly nice and giving man R23. I've known him for years. He had to hold the company together when Joan Rivers died. It was devastating and so unexpected. Joan was very involved in the day to day and the place is/was like a family. She was beloved by the employees and really took care of everyone. Someone else would have walked away and said fuck it.

Isaac Mizrahi had his own eponymous labels, but they never made a dime and were expensive failures. You risk that when you have your own line, it is very risky and there's a lot you can lose.
Mitzy is watchable, but a big, nelly, neurotic New York Jewish garmento. He doesn't scream "high end luxury" in any way.

He never created a signature look. Each collection was different from the next. He was all over the place.
Note in the clip above: it's just models wearing clothes. The models have no make-up, or hair, or accessories that might define a look or message. Mizrahi never went the extra mile. The Europeans are so great at that. Could you image buyers back from Paris and Milan sitting through that?

I’m reading his book now and he certainly isn’t as dishy as I had hoped. The neurotic Jew act only goes so far...he throws Liza under the bus calling her “too needy” and that David Guest destroyed her fabulous Halstonized apartment...I’m 3/4 of the way thru and I want more tea.

That seems to be the point of these home shopping channels: looking 'high-end' when you have no money.
But I have to say I'd rather lose a cubic zirconia/Austrian crystal ring than a diamond one.

His clothing is so tacky, it appeals to the Alfred Dunner old ladies. His time has come and gone. Between his lack of style and Shawn Killinger's non stop motor mouth, I can't watch.

Sorry r2, but QVC has offered easy pay since day one. They've been in business for over 30 years, they now own HSN, Zulily, among many other companies. QVC won't ever fold because this is the way people love to shop. The also look at the program hosts as their friends, and that bond won't break. The Q is here to stay.

Susan Graver is Mizrahi's female counterpart. She's another loudmouth of the same religious persuasion that Mizrahi ascribes to. She fancies herself as an artist who transfer her 'talent" to clothing designs. The truth is she sucks, the clothes are Ug-lee and my grandma won't even wear them.

Iman has some attractive, affordable clothes on HSN for the common gal to look pretty in. As for David's money: maybe he was stingy with it? And there's always divorce. She was smart to take her celebrity and make her own lucrative business out of it.
But I have noticed the increase of installment payments on these shows. Some $59 blouse "you can get home for just ten dollars today!".

Most of these so called designers have such jacked up prices that the smart shopper won't pay the inflated prices. But the shopaholics who are so easily reeled in by a celebrity name are willing to keep spending cash they don't have, thus a credit card with easy pay really sucks them in. The QCard that is used by so many has an interest rate of 26.99 - 27.99 %. It's costing the customer a small fortune, and QVC is making a huge fortune.
