Wondering about the etymology concerning the gloryhole of glassblowing and the gloryhole of cockblowing ( suck, honey, suck ... Blow's just an expression) as to when the 2 meanings came about...

So I went to see the Glory Hole this afternoon, me and every other layabout in Yolo County. There were about fifty cars parked up by the dam, and some guy selling t-shirts.

FYI floating garbage gets blown to the eastern edge of the lake by the prevailing winds, and right now it's being sucked down the glory hole because of the temporary prevailing currents! I hope there's no grate or anything down the pipe, because a big plastic container box about 6'x3'x3' got sucked into the hole while the layabouts cheered. Oh yeah, baby! Big and thick into the glory hole!

Straight people can be very naive about certain terms. I was on a conference call with a group of people, and one woman referred to her previous meeting as a 'circle jerk'. My supervisor IMed her to tell her what it's usually used for, and she was mortified.

Years ago, I visited the Warhol museum in Pittsburgh, and John Waters had an exhibit there. Among his work, it included a set of adult store viewing booths playing gay porn which if I recall had glory holes. There was a seemingly hetero couple in there checking out the exhibit at the time, and the looks on their faces when they went in and subsequently left the viewing booths was priceless.
