They look very, very touristy and gay ghetto-ish. I’ve never had the desire to stop in any of them. Would my assumption be correct?
Vanderpump Restaurants

Yup.

Yes. Sur is wildly overpriced but Pump can be fun on occasion.

If you go to one and don't Instagram a tagged pic letting everyone know you're there, did you actually go?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 26, 2019 7:39 PM |
I want one (or more) of those funky, probably overpriced cocktails!

be prepared for A LOT of pink flowers and pink everything.............I havent lived in LA for a long while but I would guess its mostly caters to tourists and a couple of brava reality tv shows and their cast members

Sur has shaky reviews. The food sounds blah.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 26, 2019 9:24 PM |
Pump doesn't fare much better in the review department.
Does LVP still own Villa Blanca or did she offload that one?

I live in WeHo - here's my yelp review which I rated a 2 star. No response so didn't care. If you live in LA pass on they hype. Also, I think Vanderpump is just using the community and could care less. We have enough of your restaurants on the same block!
I've been to PUMP multiple times....not quite sure why my group always ends up there but I'm going to be more inclined to steer them elsewhere. The food was mediocre at best but the MUSIC WAS BEYOND LOUD - a club or a live band would have been similar. We were a group of 9 and sat in the back which may have been part of the issue but the restaurant needs to adjust the volume which actually seemed to go louder with each song - you could not hear the person next to you without shouting.

Villa Blanca is OK.

OP here - I would never ever go to these places but since I live in the area and watch Bev Hills, I am curious about them. They just seem like they are for the people who just moved here, tourists and/or idiots that think they are going to be somebody by going there.

oh god, I went to Pump once because my idiot midwestern cousin visited and is a complete retard for all things Housewives.
first of all, it's more set for a TV show than restaurant (duh?). the decor is purpley and gross and all the fabric (drapes, banquettes) are faded, ripped and/or stained. the furniture is modular and all on wheels - the better for diversity of camera angles, natch!
as you would expect, the staff were flamers yet sweet, though they seemed the types who'd eventually develop a serious meth habit - or go into low rent porn, if not both.
our queeny young waiter greeted us with a hearty yet obviously canned "OK you guys, are you ready for the best brunch everrrrrr?!" I'll give her props, though. she put some heart into it.
our brunch was like something you would get in a shitty pub on the upper east side circa 1997. cold potatoes. rubbery, overcooked eggs.
overall, the whole place reeked of desperation and emptiness.

I have been to all of her current restaurants and would say that they were once excellent but have changed a lot over the years. Villa Blanca has always maintained an excellent food quality in my opinion and rates the best of the bunch by far. It seems that Vanderpump has been trying to offload it for years but this is the one to visit if you must. Outside of the outrageous cost of parking on or near Rodeo, this spot earns nothing but raves from me and the quality seems to stay consistent. I moved to LA in 2010 and ate at SUR not long after. Around that time (and before RHOBH first aired), I did try SUR - as the location was perfect for grabbing dinner and then hitting some bars after. I was always impressed with the food quality (but the drinks were often terrible - I actually sent a few back - THAT bad). For a few years, the quality stayed consistent. As the reality TV notoriety grew - the quality plunged with it. Word to the wise, the bartender Jax can't mix a drink to save his life - so avoid him whether you find him cute or not. I have never been impressed dining at Pump. The space is beautiful, but the food has always been so-so IMO. Villa Blanca is where it is at. And from a people-watching perspective - you will never be disappointed.

fucking hell, my subject-verb agreement is atrocious in my post.
oh well! clearly I've been living in LA too long!

“You take your wife to Villa Blanca, your mistress to SUR, and your boyfriend to Pump!”

Do the cast of VPR really work at SUR when their not filming?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 27, 2019 4:31 AM |
R16, no they only pretend to work there when they film during the summer months.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 27, 2019 5:13 AM |
R16 - they used to, but I'm not sure now. Once Pump opened, you never knew who would be where and the best servers were always the ones who chose not to be on show (or vice versa). Peter was always at SUR the 30 or so times that I went (always sweet, attentive and hot if a little dull). To be honest, recently I have only been to Villa Blanca since SUR went so downhill.

Did anyone ever see Max at these establishments? If so, please spill. If you ever saw the favored daughter with the neck that is permanently cocked to the side, would also like to hear anything.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 27, 2019 6:00 AM |
Max was at Villa Blanca a couple of times when I was there. There is very little to spill - he had very little personality and was nothing to lust over. I think he was "working" in some way, but wasn't waiting tables.

Thanks r20 He has always seemed a bit "blank" to me.

Smart of them.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 27, 2019 1:46 PM |
Interesting because I went to them before the show - the one down the street from Abbey. Very LA decor but the food was mediocre overpriced blah and the service was mediocre by pretty people. Not worth it. But if you’re Housewives obsessed, it’s what you do I guess.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 27, 2019 4:21 PM |
Why would someone who is not a famewhore work at one of these restaurants??
If a server took their work seriously and wanted to make real money, they’d go to any other restaurant in the world.
Anyone who is expecting competent service at a Vanderpump restaurant is totally deluded. They serve face and attitude, not food and drink.

Christophe Choo frequents Villa Blanca all the time and makes DAMN sure you know about it via his Youtube channel. Perhaps someone should clue him in that it's déclassé?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 27, 2019 7:53 PM |
Have any of you been to Tom Tom? Is that any better? Do those two dudes actually work at this place?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 27, 2019 8:16 PM |
^ I haven't - Vanderpump is using the gay community for her own gain and we are letting her (don't think they care about us but just our money) - hoping it goes under so everything on the block will not be owned by them.
