Why is he an asshole? He is his own biggest fan, and has no one around him who will tell him that acting like a 25 year old "Hollywood bad boy" is sad and gross when you are 52.

He comes from the Northern Chicago suburbs, from parents who ran an acting studio/theatre. Feels entitled to everything and every one. This started back when he wore underwear on his head as a nerd in 16 Candles. His sister, who is pretty much his opposite in her treatment of others, and easier to work with, stole the movie, but John was convinced he was a star.

Here we are 35 years later. We got older, he stayed the same age inside. Just like Piven, who also grew up in the same area.

Say Anything is a more iconic movie, but I thought he had his best chemistry with Daphne Zuniga in A Sure Thing. Ione Sky says her boyfriend at the time practically lived on set to be sure she didn't fuck John Cusak. It sounded like she wanted to, but wasn't going to break up with her boyfriend, so it wasn't something she could do while the bf was around I guess.
