He made allegations he couldn't prove, wrote bizarre screeds that should never have gotten past an editor that decreased his credibility, and he unfairly targeted his colleagues, which created a LOT of bad blood that prevented the case from being investigated.

The charges are coming about now because women came forward. If all the allegations are that the sex was underage, but not forced, then it might be tough to convict in Chicago. The fact they are historic allegations will be harder to prove. IIRC, they only have one sex tape.

What I really hope happens is that he rats out all the people who facilitated him. That's why I wanted the FBI investigating, not CPD. They are way too corrupt and will protect their own. Allegedly, Kelly had 'sources' in the CPD and at City Hall who worked for him.

I'll get flamed for this, but lower income people, including blacks, are much more tolerant of underage sex/relationships with older people than UMC communities, particularly Caucasians. The smarter thing would have been to have the FBI investigate it as a cult, and indict Kelly as leader, with a host of crimes related to its activities. That would open up a lot of charges. It would also make him more likely to rat out TPTB around him.
