Hemorrhoid removal?

I have two and they're painful! Prep H, wipes and other over the counter stuff only helps temporarily. Is there a chance they'll go away on their own or do you need surgery to get rid of them permanently?

by Anonymousreply 69February 25, 2019 2:52 PM

I’ve heqrd horror stories about hemmorhoids surgery. I’ve had bleeding hemmorhoids for years but am terrified of surgery,

by Anonymousreply 1February 22, 2019 1:44 AM

Mine were removed by the handsomest Doctor. Straight but handsome. Easy procedure. Recovery was unpleasant but not terrible.

by Anonymousreply 2February 22, 2019 1:50 AM

You would be AMAZED at what this stuff can do OP. Dries those fuckers up nicely. Insert up and around ye ole bum multiple times a day.

I suffered miserably, for many years, before I finally discovered Metamucil. I've never had to look back (no pun intended). Shitting out a tiny marble used to be agony: now I can drop a huge log with no problem. The only problem is, my doctor wants me to have a colonoscopy, and I don't think I can handle the 'purge'. I think that would aggravate them and put me back into misery. But, seriously, give Metamucil a try, and see if it doesn't help.

by Anonymousreply 4February 22, 2019 1:57 AM

They will never go away, but they can shrink and not cause more problems. Surgery, lasering, or freezing are common therapies, but risk complications. I had them bad for about 10 weeks. Sitz baths, local anesthetics, you name it -- I tried. I ended up changing my diet and they shrunk and cause problems no more.

Friends swear by a drop of liquified buckeye (horse chestnut) seed extract in their tea or coffee every morning. It's called эскузан and is widely available online from Russian pharmacies. It is used exclusively to treat hemorrhoids.

I have a tiny single one about the size of a pearl of Israeli Couscous, it was coming and going for awhile, but I fear I now have it for good. It doesn't give me any pain, but I'm embarrassed beyond belief.

by Anonymousreply 6February 22, 2019 2:03 AM

The surgery is so painful you should do everything in your power to avoid it.

by Anonymousreply 7February 22, 2019 2:09 AM

burn it off with a cigarette. The way you would a tic. It's obviously painful at first but the recovery is quick and easy.

by Anonymousreply 8February 22, 2019 2:18 AM

I had them for years. They’d come and go. Had my first colonoscopy in 2013 and the doctor removed them then. No problems since.

Metamucil or colace, a stool softener, will help. So will a vegetable/fruit diet, limiting protein.

by Anonymousreply 9February 22, 2019 2:19 AM

That Dave’s Bread from Costco. A slice a day. Seriously.

by Anonymousreply 10February 22, 2019 2:28 AM

Mine just bleeds but doesn’t hurt - is that weird? There are times I feel like I should just use tampons.

by Anonymousreply 11February 22, 2019 2:30 AM

I wonder if I scheduled a colonoscopy if the doctor would remove my tiny one?..."while you're back there doctor"

by Anonymousreply 12February 22, 2019 2:31 AM

This thread is disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 13February 22, 2019 2:32 AM

My brother had the surgery. I believe he said they tie them.

by Anonymousreply 14February 22, 2019 2:37 AM

R11, internal hemorrhoids aren’t painful because there are no sensory endings (external hemorrhoids are painful), so that’s probably why you’re bleeding without pain. But either way if you’re bleeding you should have a colonoscopy.

by Anonymousreply 15February 22, 2019 2:40 AM

The blood from a hemorrhoid is lighter and bright red. There should just be spots on the toilet paper.

If blood is thick, dark or blackish, and significant in volume, you should see about a colonoscopy.

by Anonymousreply 16February 22, 2019 2:46 AM

Is it possible to go in for a colonoscopy and just have them to an enema beforehand...thus avoiding the whole fasting thing?

by Anonymousreply 17February 22, 2019 2:48 AM

[QUOTE]Is it possible to go in for a colonoscopy and just have them to an enema beforehand...thus avoiding the whole fasting thing?

Absolutely not.

by Anonymousreply 18February 22, 2019 2:52 AM

My bleeding hemmorhoids were diagnosed with sigmoidoscopy 3 years ago. But they seem to be more frequent now. Bright red blood - scary - on tissue paper or wipe. Scared I’m going to lose a lot of blood - but I guess women go through it regularly. Seems to happen after a weekend of more than usual drinking - not sure if there is a correlation.

by Anonymousreply 19February 22, 2019 3:02 AM

How old are you OP?

by Anonymousreply 20February 22, 2019 3:04 AM

28, why?

by Anonymousreply 21February 22, 2019 3:09 AM

Nothing makes me feel closer to my DL brothers than a good old fashioned anal health thread!

by Anonymousreply 22February 22, 2019 3:13 AM

R20, I'm 46.

by Anonymousreply 23February 22, 2019 3:13 AM

I had them bad and ended up getting some "rubber band" type things put up there. After a few visits I never had a problem again.

by Anonymousreply 24February 22, 2019 3:14 AM

If they went away all on their own, there wouldn’t be any Trumps left.

See your proctologist.

by Anonymousreply 25February 22, 2019 3:51 AM

This product changed my life. If they flare up, I stick one of these up my bum overnight and they are GONE in the morning. Put them in the fridge because they tend to get melty.

I am a 49-year-old female. I had no idea I had hemorrhoids. One day I went number two and the toilet bowl was bright red! I kind of freaked out, called in sick to work and went to urgent care. It was so embarrassing having the Dr. stick a lubed finger up my anus like that. She confirmed that it was hemorrhoids but did not need surgery. I started drinking Metamucil and I’ve been fine ever since.

by Anonymousreply 27February 22, 2019 3:56 AM

I forget the exact statistic but I think it was something like 50% of people over age 50 have roids. Might've been 50% of people over age 40. A LOT of people have them and I'm surprised they're not discussed more openly.

I'm 35 and have never had issues but I don't want to take these things for granted.

This affliction, btw, is exactly what the Squatty Potty is supposed to prevent. Sitting upright on toilet bowls as if we were sitting in chairs is not a natural position to poop in; humans are supposed to squat. With the upright sitting position we end up having to bear down to force the poop out and that causes hemorrhoids.

by Anonymousreply 28February 22, 2019 4:03 AM

Wait. What if you bleed every time you have a BM because your poop is big? Does this create a hemorrhoid or is the blood from a tear? Does that tear become a hemorrhoid? I use proctofoam for relief but I've never thought I might have hemorrhoids.

by Anonymousreply 29February 22, 2019 4:15 AM

r29, yes, you are probably riddled with hemorrhoids, maybe they're internal, but they are there.

by Anonymousreply 30February 22, 2019 5:03 AM

Really, anyone suffering from hemorrhoids is on a bad diet. The simple fat is that after a certain age, certain foods don't go through our systems well and end up dehydrating us to the point of creating hard stools that affect the internals. Americans in particular are subject to this because we are taught that certain types of eating are OK, mainly if it's not fast food, then it's not bad. However, most food prepared outside the home is sodium-heavy and simply unable to be digested properly. Eating out, eating prepared foods, or just simply skipping certain food groups have a tremendous effect on our bodies. I had a problem with them for years, particularly in my younger, carefree years. Once I started adding healthy doses of fibrous veggies and fruits, and making sure I was properly hydrated, the problem abated. Limiting processed foods, salt, alcohol help; as well as going for high fiber foods with lots of water.

by Anonymousreply 31February 22, 2019 8:48 AM

Don’t be so judgemental, R31. Something like 70% of the population have them at some point - they’re pretty much unavoidable. They’re dead blood vessels, that’s all. You don’t need to shame people for it. You’ll get them too.

by Anonymousreply 32February 22, 2019 9:28 AM

R33 - hemorrhoid shaming!

This is the new cause we’ve been waiting for! Let us unite and embrace our hemorrhoids! - hemorrhoid pride!! Fie on those who would put us down! Shame the haters who would treat us as second-class anuses!

A toll free number at least?

by Anonymousreply 34February 22, 2019 9:41 AM

ultimate bottom drama.

by Anonymousreply 35February 22, 2019 9:47 AM

Do tops prefer them for that ribbed feeling when fucking?

by Anonymousreply 36February 22, 2019 9:51 AM

I had an external one when I was young. I was too embarrassed to see a doctor and I found a home remedy that involved placing a tiny, tight rubber band around the base of it. It was extremely painful, but really no more painful than going to the bathroom. A week after I put the rubberband on, it and the shriveled disgusting thing fell off in the bathtub—gone for good. It worked but I’m sure it presents an infection risk and is not the ideal according to doctors (also because they make money treating you...).

by Anonymousreply 37February 22, 2019 9:59 AM

you do realise anal sex can create hemorrhoids too?

by Anonymousreply 38February 22, 2019 10:11 AM

r8 is Ted Kaczynski living in a cabin in the woods with electricity or running water. He's posting from the Starbucks in town. He comes once a month to resupply.

by Anonymousreply 39February 22, 2019 10:49 AM

What do tops think about encountering their bottom’s hemmorhoids?

by Anonymousreply 40February 22, 2019 11:06 AM

i had one. but it fell off. don't know where or when. it helps if you soak in epsom salts. shrinks the fucker.

by Anonymousreply 41February 22, 2019 11:09 AM

They're just a swollen vein, I sit on an ice brick and the swelling goes down and they're gone

by Anonymousreply 42February 22, 2019 11:31 AM

Ok. Not quite in topic but...

Can we talk about skin-tags?

Seen some bottoms with some skin tags - and a couple of them were really unhappy with the way they looked. Another guy was upset cod occasionally his would bleed when rigorously fucked (friction I guess?)

One told me his doctor thought there was no reason for removing ‘em as they weren’t a problem and there are always risks with any surgery. But I suspect the doctor involved wasn’t a gay man who liked presenting - or a well presented! - hole...

Wasn’t there a gay doctor who was an anal specialist - and there was a thread about him - and a link to his website? He’d be my physician of choice! He’s turned his passion for ass into a lucrative career! And would appear to know everything there was to know about gay men’s holes and what ails them - and how to make them all bright and fresh and new again!

Does anyone remember his name/the thread?

by Anonymousreply 43February 23, 2019 9:29 AM

I had a bad one last year. Wore some unwanted double underwear for a few days to catch the blood once it popped after a few days. It never returned.

by Anonymousreply 44February 23, 2019 9:55 AM

They will go away on their own OP, but you must make sure you minimize straining in your abdominal area. This is the very reason so many pregnant women end up with terrible hemorrhoids. If possible get a compression belt to wear around your stomach until they go away. Don't pick up anything heavy and by all means don't strain when you go to the toilet (#2). Sitting in a hot bath will also help.

by Anonymousreply 45February 23, 2019 11:21 AM

Pregnant women and body builders who lift weights are the prime targets for them.

by Anonymousreply 46February 23, 2019 11:56 AM

R36 and R40 They're also known as "Speed Bumps."

by Anonymousreply 47February 23, 2019 12:05 PM

Don’t let Jake Orion try to convince you he only has hemorrhoids when he actually has anal warts.

by Anonymousreply 48February 23, 2019 12:36 PM

"An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away"......

I, too, suffered from external 'roids. Realized my fruit consumption had gone to nil. Introduced applesauce and apples again to my diet and they disappeared. Those suggesting Metamucil are also on point, but I chose the dietary fix. Besides, it was less costly, that Metamucil is expensive!

by Anonymousreply 49February 23, 2019 1:16 PM

I had an external one removed about 15 years ago. I had neglected it for quite a while and it got pretty big. Getting it removed wasn't as bad as I thought. The scariest thing was getting the shot to numb the area, but that only hurt for like a split second. The doctor I went to didn't even cauterize it. He just shoved a bunch of cotton up my ass, wrote me a prescription for some painkillers and sent me on my way. You'll shit blood for a few days, but it healed up rather quickly in my experience. I wore black jogging pants, and lined the seat of my car with trash bags just to be safe. I actually went to work the next day, I just wore dark jeans, stuffed plenty of cotton balls up there, and wore like 3 pairs of underwear to be safe, lol. As far as pain goes, it wasn't really a sharp stinging pain, more like a dull soreness (like a bruise). I didn't even end up taking any of the painkillers. Never had one since.

by Anonymousreply 50February 23, 2019 1:38 PM

It’s not all about diet. I have ulcerative colitis - so constant diarrhea. Never straining. But I have regular bleeding hemmorhoids. Maybe for the average person, they need more fiber. But it’s not the solution for all of us. Quite the opposite.

by Anonymousreply 51February 23, 2019 5:02 PM

Supplements containing aescin (from horse chestnut) and rutin have been life-changing for me. That and psyllium. And none of that is expensive either.

However, I've only had little external hemorrhoids, never internal ones. If those get so big that you need to tuck them in after going to the toilet, you definitely need surgery. Same goes for other varicose veins. Don't wait until it's too late; strengthen your veins while there's still time.

by Anonymousreply 52February 23, 2019 5:18 PM

r49 Apples worked because they contain plenty of rutin, which I mentioned in my post. That, and fibre. Also, Metamucil [italic]is[/italic] expensive, but pulverised psyllium husk is a way cheaper alternative, especially when you buy it in bulk. You just have to research a bit to find the cheapest supplier in your area.

by Anonymousreply 53February 23, 2019 5:22 PM

soak your asshole in epsom salts. worked for me.

by Anonymousreply 54February 24, 2019 11:01 AM

Will Epsom salts actually shrink hemorrhoids or just sooth the pain?

by Anonymousreply 55February 24, 2019 7:14 PM

The epsom salt baths and metamucil/diet works, but you got to realize it doesn't make them go away in one day. It takes about a week.

by Anonymousreply 56February 24, 2019 7:20 PM

A slice of raw potato works, you have to keep in in place for an hour or two nightly for several days...

by Anonymousreply 57February 24, 2019 7:29 PM

Or Windex.

by Anonymousreply 58February 24, 2019 7:31 PM

R43 Skin tags (sentinel tags, in this case) are often the result of an improperly healed fissure, but can easily be removed by tightly knotting very fine mono-filament around the base of the tag.

Obviously, this is hard to do on oneself, but you can tie a loose knot over a small, short, straw, place the straw over the tag and then slip the knot off of the straw onto the tag and tighten, then knot the string again. It will be gone in a few days.

by Anonymousreply 59February 24, 2019 8:08 PM

I had internal hemorrhoids which I had three laser treatments on. Outpatient, fast, almost painless. I highly recommend the procedure.

by Anonymousreply 60February 24, 2019 8:09 PM

r59, I think one could tie a slip knot around the hemorrhoid, then tie the other end of the string to a door knob and then slam the door shut. I think I would first numb the hemorrhoid with ice.

by Anonymousreply 61February 24, 2019 8:16 PM

They eventually go away once you stop putting any strain on your abdominal muscles.

by Anonymousreply 62February 24, 2019 8:26 PM

Is a high fibre diet a good idea?

by Anonymousreply 63February 24, 2019 9:23 PM

use soap in the shower and wash 'em.

by Anonymousreply 64February 25, 2019 11:01 AM

9 thick black inches twice per week puts everything right back in place!

(NO rubbers of course)

by Anonymousreply 65February 25, 2019 11:07 AM

A high fiber diet is the best thing you can do. It will probably take care of them in a week.

by Anonymousreply 66February 25, 2019 11:31 AM

I must have them as I have occasional blood. Why is it that sometimes I leave poop on the back of the toilet seat edge? I sit normally and have no idea why this happens-- I have seen it in public restrooms so I know I am not alone-- but what's up with this???

by Anonymousreply 67February 25, 2019 12:49 PM

R67 Are you not aiming correctly when you fire your turds off, or are they deflecting off of the piles?

by Anonymousreply 68February 25, 2019 2:33 PM

r67, Don't assume the twerk position, that's your problem.
