Listening to his interview on NPR, he was investigating the Russian Mob in the 90's in NYC.

He made a comment on one of his MSNBC appearances that he and Trump "knew some of the same people" when they asked him about covering the Russian Mob. Not sure, but I think it was Chris Hayes.

BTW, as much as I admire McCabe hugely, for opening the investigations on Trump, because that took real courage, I find his defense of Comey and the Hillary e-mails weak. I wish someone would just say that was wrong.

He told Terry Gross, on NPR, that the whole discussion about Hillary's e-mails was already an issue in the public domain long before it came to them, and it was brought to them to investigate by Members of Congress, so they could not refuse. But that IMO was absolutely no justification for Comey's public statements.

The other thing that doesn't ring true, and this is more Comey than McCabe, is that if the FBI was investigating Trump, then how did they not know the information that mysteriously appeared on Huma Abedin's computer was hacked and altered as it was later discovered?

Ye,s they had to investigate it, but no way Comey should have gone public with his "re opening the case" bullshit in October. I have huge problems with what Comey did. I don't think McCabe supported his behavior, but he will never say so. He seems to be protective of Comey, and more critical of Rosenstein.

But IMO Rosenstein had to be pretty damned agile, because he was the one who agreed to appoint Mueller as Special Counsel, and he has protected him for two years amidst attacks from the Trump people.

I like his sense of humor. Between him and Rosenstein, there must have been a lot of snark getting thrown around those offices.

Wasn't it McCabe who was fired one day before his retirement? That was seriously nasty. It made him lose out on his pension. Trump must hate him. You hate most who you're scared of.

I would think his pension would be prorated for time served. If they cut him off 100%, that is just horrible of the President.

Perhaps you would think that, R213, but that's not how qualifying for a pension ever works. A worker qualifies when a stated period of service is completed. But he doesn't have to serve it all in the FBI. Just federal employment. McCabe got piles of offers from Democratic Senators and Representatives, and maybe some Republicans, too, who were also apalled at his treatment by Trump. McCabe had ample opportunity to obtain the pension.

His book is well written. Yes, he's FBI thru and thru, but he writes well. Now that I've watched his interviews, I can hear his voice. The book is very conversational. He's telling stories. Makes it an easy read.

Let's not worry about Andrew McCabe's fucking pension. He didn't lose the pension, though he may have lost some lucrative aspects of it. Or, he may not have. He only needed one more day of employment in federal law enforcement. He may already have it.

He will get his pension at retirement age, Trump screwed him out of his earlier pension which he missed "the magic number" to get by one day.

R224, there's a lot of truth in what you say, but I urge you to read hi book. He comes across as an ethical, enthusiastic idealist. And he adores Robert Mueller. I learned a lot about how the FBI worked in the time of terrorism and OBama. It's an easy, well written book and very informative. He makes the FBI look good.

I'll also add that if Mueller is half the man McCabe claims he is,Trump is screwed.
