Watching now, the scene where the Alex character confronts the Kyle character on how he derailed their friendship because Alex came out was nice.

One of the strengths in the original Roswell was the performance by William Sadler as the Sheriff.

How is the new Sheriff coming across?

I haven't watched the last two episodes. I'm not watching if the gay couple isn't getting any screen time.

r33 The actress playing the new sheriff, Rosa Arredondo, kicks ass but hasn't really featured as much so far. I watched the show with one eye in the beginning so I might have missed a scene or two. She oozes that New York boss energy so I hope we see more of her going forward.

r34 There was a nice talk (two talks, actually) between a straight guy and a gay guy about bullying and coming out, which you don't really see that often on TV; just a straight guy shutting up and letting the gay guy tell his story. So it's worth watching the most recent episode for that alone, in my opinion.

I liked the Kyle/Alex scenes from the last episode. Now I want one where Alex catches Kyle and Michael fucking together.

Isobel is well cast. The actess looks like an alien when she tries to act emotionnal (+ the weird mole).

I'm going with the crazy blonde woman. It was said in a previous episode that she had been in the military prior to becoming a deputy. It could be revealed that she was getting intel on the military the whole time and then she deceives Alex's dad later on and thwarts his investigation.

William Sadler will always be Sheriff Valenti to me. And i loved his relationship with Kyle. Him dating Maria's mother was great in season 2.

Yeah, Sadler had some great scenes in Seasons 1 & 2.

In Season 1, Sadler brought a quiet menace to the Sheriff when he was hunting Max, Michael & Isobel.

He also had some good scenes in Season 2 when he was investigating Alex's death and dealing with the loss of the Sheriff's job.

But I thought the writers degraded his character in Season 3 when they had Valenti taking a job with that cheesy singing band.

Alex is straight out of some hurt/comfort slash... As a one-time slash reader, I can feel him luring me into caring about this shitty show by being oh so vulnerable just waiting for someone to comfort him! I think Tyler also plays up that angle.

Anyone else love how New Mexico's flora pops up more now that the show is in HD and, well, actually shot in New Mexico? It was especially noticeable two episodes or so ago when Liz and Max were hanging out, with those wonderful pink flowers in the background. And the low clouds as far as the eye can see in this week's episode were amazing and complemented the plot. They should film more stuff there; it's a magical place.

Making the whole first season be about justice for Rosa, a character who is dead before we met her and we don’t care about was a big mistake.

There was no slow discovery of people finding out they are aliens either. I feel like everyone knows and they are all just cool and with it.

R226 By episode 7 only Liz and Kyle know that the trio is alien. Maria and Alex are in the dark, the evil Manes only suspects it (I think) and probably only Max, the blonde fuckbuddy is probably not even aware what she's reporting to Manes.

The one problem I have with the show is that it lacks the group chemistry. In the original, once everyone knew, or at least Maria knew, they constantly hung out as a group. I know it was high school, but still. Everyone knows that Liz knows but we only had a hostile interaction and Isobel apoligizing to Liz, not a group working together. I want them all gathered around like the good ol' days.

Eg. In 'I, Claudius', Sian Phillips (Livia) was actually 2 years *younger* than George Baker, who played her son Tiberius, and only 5 years older than Derek Jacobi who played her grandson Claudius.

In 'The Manchurian Candidate', Angela Lansbury was only 3 years older than Laurence Harvey, who played her son.

I want to like this show because I enjoyed the original but this version is missing the silliness and the actor chemistry and it doesn't even have an interesting plot to back it up. I was hoping once they drop the Rosa plotline they'd go with the government conspiracies and FBI chasing aliens, the White Room torture etc but the only human villain so far left town in this episode without doing anything to harm the aliens and it doesn't look like anyone above him (FBI?) is even involved. At this point I'd only be watching for the gays but the gays are not interacting and it looks like they are building up Michael and Maria's future romance. If the next episode doesn't deliver on either the plot or the gays, I think I'm gonna drop this mess like a hot potato.

Yes, Alex's dad being run out of town feels like it should be a scene in the final episode of the season *after* he has done some real damage to the aliens. But his investigation of the aliens never really got the air time it deserved, and this seems like the writers nipping a storyline in the bud. I actually see chemistry between Michael and Maria, so if they do this triangle right, it could be quite interesting.

Yeah it feels weird how very quickly they sped into everyone knowing and immediately accepting aliens walk among them without any hesitation. It feels jarring.

I doubt Isobels husband is the 4th alien, he seemed to honestly have no clue that Isobel was an alien or anything supernatural was going on til this episode. None his actions feel consistent with that to, though you never know with this show. As one poster cleverly said you couldn't be surprised if they suddenly reveal Kyle is a werewolf.

Shiri did her best with a script that was all over the place. The odd time jump (was it six weeks or something) really makes this episode feel like it should be the return episode after a hiatus. The character dynamics have changed significantly. Alex is now the one in charge of this alien project and Kyle just kind of roll over for this coup? But I like the opportunity for more Kyle/Alex bonding. Having Isobel gone (she's not missed so can they drag out her return?) give more time to the bromance between Max and Michael! Of course, Maria getting herself in between Malex feels more like a nod to the old show than anything else since they have more of a friend chemistry here. All the romantic tension is between Malex, so she can only ever be a third wheel anyway.

You can't have a mystery without suspects and this show forgot to add suspects so everyone knew it had to be Noah. They should have let it be Maria. Hopefully if it is renewed that the producers see how popular Michael and Alex are and keep them together. Let Maria and Tyler get together if you need another hetero couple so bad.

I think this was probably the best episode of the series so far.

I agree that the lack of suspects in this mystery made the “reveal” obvious and anti-climatic. They should have developed some more of the townspeople a little more so it could have been a more interesting choice.

That's a pretty meh episode especially the Malex+Kyle on a mission subplot... (the Noah plot was better though not much actually happened) The whole Malex emotional scene just felt off, out of place or the actors weren't up to it. Maybe it's because the whole situation was so ridiculous.... The whole military facility had all of 2 people working there? Not to mention the security was near non-existent for a secret facility... What a waste of my time... Alex got more and more marginalized as the season progressed... to the point he was barely in the finale. The show even went as far as implying Max fixing Michael's hand was like setting him free from his past, i.e. Alex, and there Michael went straight to kissing Maria! No wonder the Malex fans are mad. They sat through 13 episodes of uneven material to get to this unsatisfying conclusion.

So if there is a second season it will be Michael and Maria together and Alex pining in the background. He'll be too preoccupied with his research into his father's work to find a new man. See we have gay characters, one's with a woman and ones a eunuch.

If the mom is an alien then the flowers could be the reason why she has mental health issues. In the episode that introduced the mom, it was revealed she knew secrets about townspeople like Kyle's dad having affairs.

That's my problem with the show. It has the potential to be better than it is, but I think the writing really let's it down.

R460 You can tell the writer was losing her way in the second half... around the time Alex suddenly turned the table on his dad and sent him off to Africa. There was no development for that plot twist at all. A better writer would have kept building the dad as the big bad for the whole season... manipulating Kyle to do his bidding, which would make Kyle's take down of Alex's dad more satisfying. Meanwhile Alex should have further bonded with Michael helping the alien side fighting against his dad. Instead, he was sidelined for much of the second half only surfacing to be a plot device. Throwing in a Malex argument/conversation here and there just kept the relationship on a perpetual holding pattern. I actually think the ship never really developed after they had sex in the third episode. This show is a real big letdown since it failed at developing the only thing interesting about it.

I would barely call it a theory, clearly that man at the end of the episode is going to be Maria's grandfather.

The question is are they going to make Maria related to Michael, to free him up to be with Alex, or make her related to Max/Isobel.

They did cast some love interest for Blackburn who should be showing up soon, but anyone whose watched a TV show will recognize that Michael and Alex are meant to be "end game"

If the writers do make Michael and Maria related, then it will be the science fiction version of Ray and Lucy from Dallas.

Bringing Rosa back, a character NO ONE cared about, was. a huge mistake.

I wasn't a big fan of Jenna the blonde deputy in season 1. But, I didn't mind her return in the last episode. She's not annoying and the actress is slightly better than some of the other actresses on the show.

I think so far the writing this season has at least been better than last season which I found particularly clunky.

This season is worse than the first season. The first season wasn't great, but it wasn't this bad. I hope the storyline about the other female alien gets resolved at the end.

For the present day storylines, the Jenna storyline is kind of interesting and it's better than the stupid crap with Kyle and that fugly big nosed woman.

I did laugh at the idea of there being some successful gay bar in the middle of Roswell NM. The only gay bars in New Mexico are in Albuquerque, even Sante Fe can't support one anymore.

While I don't like the idea of Michael and Maria getting together instead of Michael and Alex, at least it looks like Alex will get a man. Though anything can happen at this point.

Yeah I always hate the scenes between Kyle and his new love interest r505, they should have just paired him with Isobel.

I think Kyle's new love interest will end up being a government spy who is looking to capture the aliens and it will be revealed she autopsied the aliens who were held at that prison in the past. Based on the last episode, I bet Maria ends up having visions of the love interest killing Kyle.

I hope they don't' try to heal that annoying fat chick.

This episode was quite good and the show is better when RRosa has little to no screen time. I hope she stays rehab for the rest of the season.

Last night’s episode was...something. I wasn’t paying complete attention and I have no idea how it ended the way it did. Will have to rewatch.

This episode was too packed. Ugh, I hate the new Max "dies" storyline. It looks like Maria will die and be brought back by one of Liz and Kyle's weird surgeries.

The finale was a bit meh. I hope Kyle's annoying girlfriend gets written off next season. It's hilarious that they paired that fatty with hot Kyle.
