The poor guy isn't a great actor in terms of range or depth (on screen, anyway; don't know what he's like on stage). I do find it odd that he was groomed as the next Zac Efron due to his Disney Channel roots and similar look, but their careers are so totally different. Garrett is clearly more open about his sexuality and his "queen" side, so maybe that's played a bit into it, but it's strange that Efron has been in flop after flop after flop and he's still getting chances. Who is he blowing? The boy can't open a movie to save his life. He really was built up as the next big thing and, to me, it seems like Garrett will probably have a little more career longevity, because he's been willing to take smaller roles or roles in smaller films. Part of the issue with the movie was that it was at peak Franco gaybaiting. A lot of gays were immediately turned off by Franco's involvement.

Straights don't give a shit about gay porn directors who made porn with (supposedly) underage guys and then got murdered over an issue of jealousy in the field.

Besides, there was no real story element to it. It had no depth.
