Olivia Wild, Jennifer Lawrence, Sienna Miller and Renee Zellweger are the most notorious Harvey girls. No one believe they got roles because their acting talent anymore.

Zellweger recovered just fine.

I'm still waiting to see a picture of his mangled meat. What did these women have to endure?

by Anonymousreply 8April 25, 2020 10:50 PM

I'm one of the few who thinks Gretchen Mol rejected him and that's why her career fizzled. I know rumor has her being his whore but I think she refused and he had her blackballed. Supposedly, Ioan Gruffud's wife was propositioned by Harvey, she rejected him and he told her "see how your husband's career goes now" shortly before his Hollywood career declined.

by Anonymousreply 9April 25, 2020 10:57 PM

R9 It's good to read about women who rejected him but also sad that they lost a career because of the asshole. I hope the women who did him all lose the stardom they craved.

by Anonymousreply 20April 26, 2020 4:33 AM

Why Judi Dench?

by Anonymousreply 21April 26, 2020 4:47 AM

R12 She may never have fucken him, but Dench was one of his go-to actresses for his prestige films.

by Anonymousreply 22April 26, 2020 4:48 AM

I would say Lawrence because of the fappening plus Harvey, but maybe she was overexposed anyway.

Streep has not been hurt by it. She is 70 and a permanent A+ star.

He really hasn’t hurt anyone except his many victims.

by Anonymousreply 23April 26, 2020 4:52 AM

Jennifer Lawrence practically screams “cum dumpster.”

I like her ok... she’s just obviously cheap, crude, and slutty.

by Anonymousreply 24April 26, 2020 4:56 AM

Maybe JLaw can scratch out a new career at Treasure Island Media.

by Anonymousreply 25April 26, 2020 4:57 AM

"May not"? Lol. Even Weinstein has taste.

by Anonymousreply 27April 26, 2020 7:05 PM

Judi Dench is almost 86 and has so much eye trouble she has to have a reader for her scripts.

by Anonymousreply 28April 26, 2020 7:39 PM

They have Streep on tape saying he’s a God. If it were anybody else, they’d be long forgotten. Her undeniable talent is the only thing that keeps her on the A list.

by Anonymousreply 29April 26, 2020 7:45 PM

Without Harvey, Jlaw is nothing. Also, I think her fake marriage was the final nail in the coffin for her career.

by Anonymousreply 30April 26, 2020 7:46 PM

M and Dench are too well established to be affected.

by Anonymousreply 31April 26, 2020 7:46 PM

by Anonymousreply 32April 26, 2020 7:50 PM

I can't stand Olivia Wilde. I was so glad she was in that Clint Eastwood movie that totally bombed. She directs one movie and she's like the female director of the century. Jodie Foster needs to bitch slap her.

Jennifer Lawrence, no doubt. I believe Winslet will have some kind of career resurgence. She'll never reach the same heights of hype and guaranteed Oscar noms as in the late 90s-early 00s but there's no disputing her talent even though she was never one of my favorites. JLaw, on the other hand...

by Anonymousreply 35April 26, 2020 8:32 PM

If Dench has had a decline in her career, it’s not because of Weinstein, it’s because she’s eighty-five and there just aren’t that many roles for women that age. And even then, she’s almost certainly either the first or second choice to play octogenarians, with Maggie Smith her only competition.

by Anonymousreply 36April 26, 2020 9:03 PM

There is always a career in porn for JLaw.

by Anonymousreply 37April 27, 2020 5:34 AM

Tracey Ullman did a sketch as Dench trying to get her Harvey Weinstein tattoo removed from her backside. The other cheek had Kevin Spacey on it.

by Anonymousreply 38April 27, 2020 5:48 AM

Olivia Wilde’s real name is Olivia Jane Cockburn.

by Anonymousreply 39April 27, 2020 5:49 AM

R11 is confused.

by Anonymousreply 41April 27, 2020 8:58 AM

by Anonymousreply 42April 27, 2020 10:18 AM

The women who came out against them didn’t get the career bump that people thought they would. When was the last time that Rose McGowan, Annabella Sciorra, and Mira Sorvino got booked?

by Anonymousreply 43April 27, 2020 10:23 AM

[quote]Jessica Chastian seem to be doing okay

Her segue into superheroland didn't start with her getting Captain Marvel like she wanted and did that awful Xmen movie that killed the franchise. And her attempts at production have one unreleased film conceived by a domestic abuser, and a "female Jason Bourne" production beset by production difficulties. Maybe it will be good. But a spy movie written by Theresa Rebeck?!

by Anonymousreply 44April 27, 2020 10:26 AM

Testifying in a rape trial as a victim usually isn't done with expectations of a career boost. For one thing, recollecting one's rape, in public what's more, isn't a particularly pleasant experience.

by Anonymousreply 45April 27, 2020 10:47 AM

Olivia Wilde sold out. I used to know her when she was married to her Italian prince. He was hot and sweet and she was always funny and extremely liberal. She threw it all away for money and fame and blow. Once she met Harvey I never heard from her again. Not surprised that her career has fizzled.

by Anonymousreply 46April 27, 2020 10:52 AM

I still have no clue who Olivia Wilde is despite seeing her name.

by Anonymousreply 47April 27, 2020 10:55 AM

I wonder why Charlize Theron's career didn't tank. Wasn't she a Harvey girl?

[Quote] How do you know that her marriage is fake? She is a lez?

I think it's more to do with the timing. They weren't dating all that long before she got engaged/married. Although i do think it's too soon to tell if this is the end of her career.

by Anonymousreply 49April 27, 2020 12:57 PM

Tough as nails, R48. Mobster pudgy boy bit off more than he could chew.

by Anonymousreply 50April 27, 2020 1:42 PM

Poor Judi.

by Anonymousreply 51April 27, 2020 2:04 PM

J Law was already fading when Weinstein went down. She peaked in 2012-13 with The Hunger Games and the Oscar win but it all went downhill with Serena when everyone realized she didn't have much range at all.

by Anonymousreply 52April 27, 2020 2:09 PM

J. Law's career probably would have faded anyway: Hollywood only ever has one Blonde of the Moment at a time (it's currently Margot Robbie's turn). But the Fappening cut everything off early. Once all of America has seen your snatch, you can't ever really be A-list again.

by Anonymousreply 53April 27, 2020 2:24 PM

JLaw was great in Winter's Bone though. She should do some more independent projects.

by Anonymousreply 54April 27, 2020 2:56 PM

R9 He was also stupid to stop doing the Horatio Hornblower TV movies. The books have a huge following and the movies are still big with fans.

by Anonymousreply 55April 27, 2020 3:03 PM

None of the Harvey girls were harmed by banging or working with him. That was the price they paid for good parts and they may have traded sex and won an Oscar out of it (Gwyneth, Renee, Jennifer, etc.). I feel bad for his discarded victims but most are too old now to make any kind of comeback, or they were fakes all along like Rose McGowan who I despise.

by Anonymousreply 56April 27, 2020 9:30 PM

Dench still works and is well respected. Alicia Vikander seems to have had the sharpest drop. I guess it could be the Oscar curse and it didn't help that Tomb Raider bombed, but even before that she couldn't generate any more press/hype for anything after Harvey went down. JLaw can still generate press, Vikander has all but disappeared.

by Anonymousreply 57April 27, 2020 9:42 PM

She was never a good actress to begin with, so maybe that's why.

by Anonymousreply 58April 27, 2020 9:49 PM

Hm, Alicia Vikander still has a ton of new projects lined up on her IMDB page, including Tomb Raider 2.

by Anonymousreply 59April 27, 2020 10:53 PM

R9 I believe she turned him down too. After Rounders, she went back to doing bit parts for years. Most of the "Harvey Girls" got project after project.

by Anonymousreply 60April 28, 2020 12:36 AM

R46 She directed Booksmart last year, which was critically praised and a minor box office success.

by Anonymousreply 61April 28, 2020 12:39 AM

Lindsay Lohan spoke the truth about Jennifer Lawrence putting out for roles. Her whole career has been based upon her relationship with Weinstein.

Give Lohan credit, she may have her issues, but she never had to fuck for roles. At least she can say she became a star on the back of the public and not on the back of some headboard in a sleazy motel. And if Lindsay had those same opportunities that were just handed out to Jennifer, she would have at least one Oscar by now. That's how good an actress she was. Lawrence was 95% media created.

by Anonymousreply 62April 28, 2020 12:47 AM

(R46) like I said she directed one movie. She is not the only female director. Shocking as that sounds.

by Anonymousreply 63April 28, 2020 3:10 AM

Let’s not completely rewrite history and make Lohan into the artist she never was, R62. She was good in Mean Girls (but easily upstaged by Rachel McAdams) and Prairie Home Companion, but even before she fell apart she was doing stuff like Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Just My Luck.

Lohan was never going to do anything on the level of Winter’s Bone, even had she not destroyed her career. Sure, she might have picked off a few of Emma Stone’s early comedies, but even a Lindsay Lohan without the addictions and self-destructive streak was never on a path that would lead to The Favourite.

by Anonymousreply 64April 28, 2020 3:25 AM

R59, have you seen any press about any of them? When's the last time you saw major press about any of her films? Before Harvey was taken down, she was everywhere, even when her films flopped.

by Anonymousreply 65April 28, 2020 3:35 AM

Lohan was buoyed by a great script in Mean Girls. She herself has never displayed much in the way of acting skills. JLaw and Vikander, however they got their opportunities, displayed some real talent.

by Anonymousreply 66April 28, 2020 3:37 AM

You ranggg!

by Anonymousreply 67April 28, 2020 3:45 AM

R65 I have never really followed her honestly. I was just checking if she still had any work lined up and some of her projects are high profile I think with Joel Edgerton as co-star. I only really know her as a friend of hottie Alex Skarsgard and thought she did well as a Swede starring in Hollywood blockbusters. Something not even Americans or Brits easily achieve.

by Anonymousreply 68April 28, 2020 3:47 AM

R43

Sciorra played. a recurring character on the now-cancelled Marvel series that were on Netflix.

by Anonymousreply 69April 28, 2020 3:51 AM

I think Gwynett is the one suffering the most i haven't seen any movie from her for ages. Jlaw is still young enough to find a new Weinstein but Gwynett...

by Anonymousreply 70April 28, 2020 3:52 AM

I wonder if Gwnwth still gets residuals from Contagion. That movie must have made a shitload of money these last few months.

by Anonymousreply 71April 28, 2020 3:56 AM

R71 Marion Cotillard must have gets more royalties from Contagion than Gwynett

by Anonymousreply 72April 28, 2020 4:03 AM

R66 I'm afraid I've never seen any 'talent' on the screen from JLaw and Vikander. No doubt they have bedroom talents. Can't wait for Harvey's tell-all book which he now has plenty of time to write.

by Anonymousreply 73April 28, 2020 4:09 AM

Well Gwynie let us all see the inside of her skull so she should get more. How much does Kate Beckinsale still get for Contagion?

by Anonymousreply 74April 28, 2020 4:11 AM

R70, Gwyneth has basically retired from films. She finished up her Marvel gig where she shows up for a scene per movie, and she’ll work for Ryan Murphy because she’s married to one of his producers, but her career is GOOP now.

Judging from what Jennifer Lawrence has in development, she’s primed for a comeback, especially if the Adam McKay version of the Theranos story happens. No one liked Vice from McKay and it still was great for Christian Bale, so even a mediocre movie where she plays Elizabeth Holmes should restart her career.

by Anonymousreply 75April 28, 2020 4:16 AM

I always thought LiLo had a great presence. She was solid even when the script wasn't there.

by Anonymousreply 76April 28, 2020 4:17 AM

I agree r76 she has star quality which Jennifer Lawrence never had.

by Anonymousreply 77April 28, 2020 4:18 AM

[Quote][R66] I'm afraid I've never seen any 'talent' on the screen from JLaw and Vikander.

Then you have obviously never seen Winter's Bone. JLaw has starred in a lot of bad movies with mediocre performances but it is simply not true she is untalented. She should focus more on independent films now and find a good balance between Hollywood and independent projects if she wants to continue her carreer when she gets older.

by Anonymousreply 78April 28, 2020 4:20 AM

The only thing, I've ever seen her in that I've liked has been Winter's Bone.

by Anonymousreply 79April 28, 2020 4:27 AM

It feels like the era of great actors is over. Streep, Lange, Winger etc. were really supported by the industry to have strong careers. Now everyone sells handbags, makeup or perfume. Everyone from Saoirse to Charlize feels bland.

by Anonymousreply 80April 28, 2020 4:35 AM

Debra Winger might get a great laugh out of the assertion that she was really supported by the industry (or fly into an incandescent rage, which seems about as likely).

I get that nostalgia is a hell of a drug, but there will be great actors long after we’re all gone,

by Anonymousreply 81April 28, 2020 5:07 AM

But is there one under 30 working today? Nope

by Anonymousreply 82April 28, 2020 5:17 AM

Yes, Saoirse Ronan is almost universally acclaimed as a great actor. You might not like her, but at least admit it’s a minority opinion.

And if the standard is greatness before age thirty, do you know who wouldn’t qualify? Meryl, who had her breakthrough year when she hit the big 3-0. Jessica Lange just did All That Jazz at that age, which was also the age Sigourney did Alien, and Glenn wasn’t even working in films.

Many of the best actresses had perhaps one great role before that age, like Blanchett doing Elizabeth, but establishing a reputation as great instead of just promising before age thirty is basically only for child stars like Jodie Foster.

by Anonymousreply 83April 28, 2020 5:39 AM

Gretchen Mol herself said something like that.

by Anonymousreply 84April 28, 2020 9:41 AM

R83 Sissy Spacek had three great roles before she was 30. Badlands, Carrie & 3 Women. One could count Coal Miner's Daughter as 4th as she filmed it when she was 29 but it was not released until just after she turned 30.

by Anonymousreply 85April 28, 2020 10:31 AM

^ In two of those roles she was playing a teenager. Which actually supports the idea that an actress has to start at a very young age to get access to great roles early on. Spacek was fortunate that she could believably pass for a teen well into her 20s.

R87 Jodie Foster

by Anonymousreply 88April 28, 2020 1:33 PM

I liked American hustle but I felt like J Law was playing a version of herself. Amy Adams was the best thing about that movie but I always really like her.

by Anonymousreply 89April 28, 2020 2:52 PM

Rose McGowan

by Anonymousreply 90April 28, 2020 2:55 PM

Do people really consider any young actor great now? Timothee and Saoirse are vanilla and seem like typical young emotional weirdos.

by Anonymousreply 91April 29, 2020 12:19 AM

Streep also got great roles before she was 30 but as noted she really started late for a movie actress and was 30 when she became very famous. Now, hmm. Harvey was despicable but he was just like movie studio heads of years past who groomed stars. For actors now, they have a short shelf life because the focus is on cartoons and super hero's, or a TV series.

by Anonymousreply 92April 29, 2020 12:31 AM

No mention of Harvey's very first leading lady, Marisa Tomei?

by Anonymousreply 93April 29, 2020 12:50 AM

It's so nice now at the award shows. The few I do watch. Not seeing all the celebrities kissing his fat ass.

by Anonymousreply 94April 29, 2020 12:55 AM

Mention what, R93? She wasn't the lead, another woman was assaulted by him on that set, and he had nothing to do with her Oscar-winning role. In fact, Tomei was up against Joan Plowright who was nominated for a Mirimax film.

by Anonymousreply 95April 29, 2020 1:48 AM

Nowadays, unless you start out as a kid in the industry, it's difficult to get in. People do it, of course. But, if you look at most popular actresses in their 20s and 30s, they got their start before they turned 18. Even actors.

The boomer generation had more of a mix, but most actors had their start as adults elsewhere (i.e. the theatre, college, etc). They had more life experience. I'm hard-pressed to think of many actresses in their 70s who had their first film/TV role in their teens/adolescence.

by Anonymousreply 96April 29, 2020 1:57 AM

It also seems like Oscar winners now have a hard time following up with anything good. Sorry but there will be no Brie Larson movie collection.

by Anonymousreply 97April 29, 2020 2:05 AM

Sometimes an Oscar win can be a curse. Look at Halle Berry. She was in John Wick 3 for about 15 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 98April 29, 2020 3:12 AM

While I can't say Brie Larson's future looks bright, I wouldn't rule her out quite yet. Sometimes, that "something good" takes a while. Her Oscar win is only five years old (well, four, technically). It'll be interesting to see how her generation goes amongst her fellow winners. Jennifer Lawrence is in a slight "lull" right now. But, I can see her making a comeback. For comparison, Emma Stone has struck a nice balance between art and commerce and has used her capital to work with really interesting directors (it doesn't hurt that she has the proven ability to do both comedy and drama). She shows no signs of slowing down. Larson still has Captain Marvel and that's not a bad position to be in. She had a real loveable quality in 21 Jump Street, so I think she has at least something.

It's also important to keep in mind ...

Nicole Kidman. She won her Oscar for 2002 and had just had a banner (two) year(s). Despite a decent film here and there, she went on to be labelled box-office poison. She decided to go the character actress route in the early 2010s and started playing mothers. It was only in 2017 when the internet decided that she had made a comeback, fifteen years later. (But Kidman had already started carving out an interesting career for herself pre-2001). It also helped that she became a higher-profile producer.

Charlize Theron. After she won for Monster, she had trouble coming anywhere near that success commercially. Eight years later, she had Young Adult, a very minor success for her as an actress, but barely anyone noticed. Snow White was a hit. But, it wasn't until Mad Max: Fury Road, did audiences go, "Oh yeah, she kind of rocks," twelve years after winning her Oscar. It also helped that she stepped up her producing game.

Reese Witherspoon. She was quite the box-office starlet with the Legally Blonde films and Sweet Home Alabama. Winning the Oscar for playing June Carter Cash (in a weak year) kind of erased her as a leading lady. It wasn't until she started a new production company that she reignited her career in 2014, nine years after winning an Oscar.

So, there is still hope for Brie. Or maybe she's another Helen Hunt. We'll see.

by Anonymousreply 99April 29, 2020 4:27 AM

Lindsay Lohan was definitely trying to get roles using her firecrotch when she was making her docu-series with Oprah. She tried (and failed) to make a movie with that sleazebag producer Randall Emmett. There's no way he would cast her in anything without sex first.

Olivia Wilde has a weird face and very limited acting ability. I always wondered how she was a working actress.

Now I know. She suffered Weinstein’s heaving sweaty bulk grinding away on her a couple of times a week and was his threesome speed dial. Mystery solved!

by Anonymousreply 109April 29, 2020 3:21 PM

r4 I have wondered for years why Sienna was suddenly everywhere and on Vogue being touted as a fashion icon when she was really nothing that special. Thanks for clearing up that mystery!

by Anonymousreply 110April 29, 2020 6:40 PM

I read an interview with a Hollywood agent who said she doesn't take on any new clients over the age of 21, as there isn't time to develop there careers properly so they can get the really good roles before they are over the hill. Don't know if this is a widespread attitude in LA or not.

by Anonymousreply 111April 29, 2020 6:45 PM

Harvey’s taste in his hook-ups surprises me.

You know, I really don't believe that all the actresses under discussion had careers because they were Harvey's mistresses. Winslet is a terrific actress and Zellweger and Tomei are good, Kidman and Theron can be fantastic when they get it right, Lawrence is beautiful and showed a lot of talent at a young age (not that she's lived up to it), and of course, Dench and Streep would be working regardless.

But Wilde and Miller, yeah. They're the kind of actress you see and wonder who they're fucking to get cast.

Sienna Miller has virtually disappeared since Harvey's downfall.

by Anonymousreply 114April 29, 2020 6:53 PM

I thought Miller had vanished long before. She wasn't talented or photogenic, and had no big hits or impressive roles on her CV. In the normal course of things, her career would have faded in her thirties and it did, if she's done anything in the last five years it's escaped my notice.

So no, I don't think her career downturn is related to Harvey's downfall, although that may be the last straw for her.

Though the movie ended up not being great, every actress in Hollywood under 30 wanted to play Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl. Sienna Miller got the part.

Sienna Miller is much better than Wilde, who is terrible. Miller is generally a bit bland and unremarkable, but she was very good in American Woman last year, and The Lost City of Z a few years before that.

I don’t even think Wilde deserves the acclaim for Booksmart, which had a few funny performances but was mostly ridiculous.

I like Sienna Miller a lot and always have, even when she was getting ripped to shreds over the Jude Law thing. I think she is a really good actress. She is 10x more talented than Olivia Wilde.

Sienna really got around and broke up several marriages with her cheating open vagina.

R115 I thought Miller sort of had a comeback with American Sniper.

R118 and then she got into deep shit with Balthazar Getty.

Didn’t she also mess around with Jude Law when he was with someone else?

by Anonymousreply 121April 30, 2020 4:30 AM

R121 I don't remember, but I DO remember that he cheated on her with the chubby nanny!

by Anonymousreply 122April 30, 2020 4:45 AM

Brie larson is unremarkable, in every aspect. Idk why marvel cast her as capt marvel. Charlize theron would have been incredible as captain marvel

by Anonymousreply 123April 30, 2020 4:45 AM

Sienna started seeing Jude Law when he was still married to Sadie Frost and then he cheated on her with the nanny.

It’s too bad Jennifer Lawrence was not cast as Captain Whatever.

Sienna Miller launched a bit of a "comeback."

She got notices for playing Tippi Hedren in the tele-film The Girl. She went on to have substantial roles in Foxcatcher, American Sniper, and The Lost City of Z (James Gray), even getting a BAFTA nod for High-Rise. That was from 2012 - 2016. She had a role in Ben Affleck's directorial followup to Argo, but it flopped. She played Roger Ailes wife in The Loudest Voice (I didn't even recognise her), but Russell Crowe got all of the attention.

I recall her badmouthing Pittsburg, referring to her film as, "The Mysteries of Shitsberg," which didn't endear her to the people living there.

Factory Girl really was her moment.

*Sorry, BIFA, not BAFTA.

"Charlize theron would have been incredible as captain marvel "

Too old. They cast superhero actors young enough that they'll still look good for a decade of sequels and spin-offs, and Charlize is 44 now. If the whole superhero genre doesn't die with the movie theater industry, she could be 50 when "Captain Marvel 3" comes out.

R123 Charlize is "too old". And R124 I don't think JLaw would bother when she's already done the X-Men movies.

The “Booksmart” praise baffles me. It’s a beat-for-beat, less funny, inferior remake of “Superbad”.

by Anonymousreply 129April 30, 2020 10:53 AM

R129 Agreed I could barely finish it. Very overrated movie.

by Anonymousreply 130April 30, 2020 11:33 AM

I never understood the appeal of Superbad. Loved Booksmart. So much fun and better performances.
