Parenthood star Monica Potter refused Harvey Weinstein's THREE TIMES and 'hit him where it hurt', ; Charlize Theron got the part

[post redacted because linking to dailymail.co.uk clearly indicates that the poster is either a troll or an idiot (probably both, honestly.) Our advice is that you just ignore this poster but whatever you do, don't click on any link to this putrid rag.]

Um - well, frankly she was the poor man's Julia Roberts. Their voices are mannerisms are exactly the same, so Monica was just the cheaper version.

by Anonymousreply 1February 9, 2019 4:12 AM

Somebody who could kill her father and have her mother take the blame is not going to flinch at having to put out for Weinstein to get a part.

by Anonymousreply 2February 9, 2019 4:14 AM

Charlize, you got some splainin' to do.

by Anonymousreply 3February 9, 2019 4:21 AM

Charlize Theron has the face of a ruthless bitch, not saying she did, but she seemed like she was down to anything to become super famous. Potter was somewhat famous for a little while, but apparently wasn't willing to become a sell out.

by Anonymousreply 4February 9, 2019 4:27 AM

Potter's great in Parenthood. I'd never seen her before though. What was she famous for in the past?

by Anonymousreply 5February 9, 2019 4:29 AM

Weinstein's representative sent a statement to WKYC that called Potter a 'talented actor for whom he has great respect.'

i.e, "Don't hit me again!"

by Anonymousreply 6February 9, 2019 4:31 AM

You can just tell about Charlize. come on. she always seemed thirsty and desperate and bitchy to me.

by Anonymousreply 7February 9, 2019 4:32 AM

Monica Potter was great as the original Sharon on Y&R.

by Anonymousreply 8February 9, 2019 5:12 AM

There was a blind item a few years back about an actress that used the casting couch to get ahead, and when she hit big she got revenge on the men she slept with.

by Anonymousreply 9February 9, 2019 5:13 AM

I'm glad that at least one, if only one of these women had "fight" in them as opposed to "placate" and "fright". Not that that stopped Weinstein. It's just that I know too many women, of all presentations and character who will go down physically fighting, even though they know that they are going to lose The Battle. However, Hollywood should never be used as a gauge for anything, especially morality and principles. What Hollywood is excellent at is propaganda. That is why I have NEVER understood why it is considered a "liberal haven". Umm, no; not with the amount of long time, never going to change racism, gynaephobia, homophobia and what not that is slung out of there regularly.

After Abrahamic religion and all that drips from that, Imperialism/colonialism and all the shit that dripped/drips from that, Hollywood is number three in the Spectrum of Fuckry in the last five hundred years.

I hope that Ms Potter gave Mr Weinstein a very fine tuned kick in his seed bag. That man just sicks my stomach. Then again, my stomach lining isn't made out of crocodile skin and misguided ambition.

by Anonymousreply 10February 9, 2019 6:21 AM

The fact is she was virtually unknown until Parenthood. She would have never gotten the role even if Harvey wasn't involved in the production. This was when Theron's career took off and she became super hot. The idea that she would have gotten a role over Theron in 1999 is laughable.

by Anonymousreply 11February 9, 2019 6:27 AM

She was in a few movies before Parenthood. One with Freddie Prinze and one with Vince Vaughn. The former bombed, the latter was a limited release indie I think.

by Anonymousreply 12February 9, 2019 6:34 AM

After the more than 100 women who came forward, does anyone really believe he never tried anything with Charlize, Renee, Nicole? Even Gwyneth, with her BS story about Brad threatening him -yet she still got the role, won the Oscar and was photographed hugging him many times after that alleged incident?? Sorry, but we all know you did what he wanted and got the careers you wanted.

by Anonymousreply 13February 11, 2019 6:01 PM

Doesn't she get murdered in "Patch Adams"?

by Anonymousreply 14February 11, 2019 6:32 PM

I don't believe any beautiful woman who claims they got a part from Weinstein without a sexual favor - unless it's like Whoopi or Kathy Bates.

Beauties in Hollywood are a dime a dozen. There's nothing extraordinary about their acting, so he had no incentive to give them the part without getting something in return when there will always be someone waiting in the wings to lower themselves and fuck him for a part.

by Anonymousreply 15February 11, 2019 6:37 PM

What did Miss Theron do to get that part and her career?

A. Anything and everything. Miss Theron is a South African, Scarlett O'Hara with a very dark past ( excluding casting couch transactions) that would have ruined the careers of any other actor not foreign-born.

I once read Theron was discovered by a lecherous agent type whilst screaming and yelling in a bank that refused to cash a check she had received from out of the country. Only a pretty young non-ethnic thing can get away with this, anyone else would have been arrested or at least escorted off the premises for

a. attempting to cash a potentially fraudulent check.

b. threatening behavior and causing a scene in a place of business.

r6. That is is the correct and only response and he should have used that response for every accusation leveled against him. What else is there to say?

"I didn't do it"? No one believes HW, not anymore.

by Anonymousreply 16February 11, 2019 6:50 PM

Renee Zellweger's career is amazing to think about. She had some good supporting roles in the 90s then bamb!

2000: Won a Golden Globe for Nurse Betty 2001: Oscar, BAFTA and Globe nominations for Bridget Jones' Diary 2002: Won the Globe and an Oscar nomination for Best Picture Chicago (which had been in production on and off since the 70s) 2003: Won an Oscar and Globe for Cold Mountain

Then not long after she disappeared. She made a comeback last year playing SJP's best friend in her movie Here and Now. Wow.

by Anonymousreply 17February 11, 2019 6:51 PM

R13 I believe Brad threatened him, but I think Goop lied to him about what transpired between her and Harvey.

I really wish sex tapes of Harvey and some of these whores would leak and show what liars they all are.

by Anonymousreply 18February 11, 2019 7:04 PM

If you have ever wondered what did "they" have to do get a film career and movie stardom, you have your answer.

They had to do a bloated wart hog who has to coerce and pay young attractive women for sex and he's bitter about this.

by Anonymousreply 19February 11, 2019 7:10 PM

Well, it worked. So, what?

by Anonymousreply 20February 11, 2019 7:12 PM

You do what and who you have to do, CT.

by Anonymousreply 21February 11, 2019 7:13 PM

I'm more interested in what Monica has to say about David E. Kelly who fired her from Boston Legal when she was pregnant.

by Anonymousreply 22February 11, 2019 7:19 PM

that hairy pig

by Anonymousreply 23February 11, 2019 7:25 PM

R16 "Only a pretty non ethnic young thing could get away with this ". Very true. I remember once reading some comment about this bank incident praising Charlize for essentially being a no nonsense broad or something similar. But the reality is that routine would lead to many people in this country being arrested or shot .She's a pampered brat. She might have been born into somewhat difficult and dysfunctional circumstances but she escaped largely due to superficial qualities (looks and ethnicity ) no matter how many people wish to believe otherwise. I would find her far more sympathetic if she weren't such an unpleasant woman in her dealings with the so called help.

As an usher at the LA Music Center, I worked the 1995 Academy Awards. I remember the show ending and everyone emptying out to the first floor lobby. By that time, many public places in CA were non-smoking. Not for Mr Weinstein. He smoked away as he chit chatted away in the lobby, despite repeated requests to put the cigarette out. His ugly mug looked at us, the ushers, most of high school and college kids, as beneath his contempt. He only stopped when the head of front house staff, told him it was a LA fire department issue if he continued smoking. Still, he was spoken to with a lot of deference. Amazing, how much ass kissing Hollywood people get in LA. It's really silly isn't it?

by Anonymousreply 25February 11, 2019 7:34 PM

greasy wart hog

by Anonymousreply 26February 11, 2019 7:36 PM

[quote]He smoked away as he chit chatted away in the lobby

Smoking is supposed to kill your appetite.

by Anonymousreply 27February 11, 2019 7:45 PM

I liked Monica Potter in a 17-year-old independent comedy called I'M WITH LUCY. She is the daughter of Jewish couple Harold Ramis and Julie Christie (!) and is romanced by a laundry list of guys: David Boreanaz, Gael Garcia Bernal, Henry Thomas, Anthony LaPaglia, John Hannah and Craig Bierko.

by Anonymousreply 28February 11, 2019 7:46 PM

Forget Harvery. The real question is what did Julie Christie do to get cast as a Jewish mother.

by Anonymousreply 29February 11, 2019 7:55 PM

Her IMDB proves your comment wrong R17.

by Anonymousreply 30February 11, 2019 8:03 PM

Oh I remember that crap, R28. Saw the poster, it looked like Gael Garcia Bernal's American movie. Of course it had to be shit.

by Anonymousreply 31February 11, 2019 8:06 PM

Wow I didn’t even remember she was on Parenthood. I only watched the first season or two but apparently she was a main character? I read the article and assumed she must have joined the show after I stopped watching. Weird. Is this my Mandela Effect?

by Anonymousreply 32February 11, 2019 8:34 PM

She was great in [italic]Boston Legal[/italic] and was about the only reason to watch [italic]Trust Me[/italic].

by Anonymousreply 33February 11, 2019 9:11 PM

Her most famous movie to date is the first SAW.

by Anonymousreply 34February 11, 2019 9:22 PM

Julie Christie as a NYC yenta must be seen to be believed.

by Anonymousreply 35February 11, 2019 10:02 PM

I would as well, R22. She was really good in BL, and when they replaced her with the execrable, up-her-own-ass Julie Bowen, I quit watching.

by Anonymousreply 36February 11, 2019 10:03 PM

Weinstein did it not because of sexual urges, but because it fed his ego, I can make any woman sleep with me, it is all about power.

by Anonymousreply 37February 11, 2019 10:09 PM

R36 Monica was a last minute replacement on Boston Legal herself after Rebecca De Mornay (who was supposed to carry over from her final episodes of The Practice) either quit or got fired. That was back when it was still going to be called Fleet Street. No explanation has ever been given why Rebecca was out and Monica was suddenly in which makes me think Rebecca got paid to keep her mouth shut about it.

David E Kelly seems to get bored of actors very quickly as evidenced by his focus on a new actor then ditching them in favor for the next shiny bauble over and over again hence shows like Boston Legal having so many cast changes.

I remember her name but can't recall seeing thing she's starred in.

A generic blond type.

by Anonymousreply 39February 12, 2019 5:44 PM

R39 "a generic blond type" describes most of the girls that Harvey went for.

by Anonymousreply 40February 12, 2019 8:04 PM

Oh, Charlize.

by Anonymousreply 41February 12, 2019 8:07 PM

Hasn't anyone around here seen Along Came a Spider (one of those many 90s/early 00s Silence of The Lambs rip-offs). That was the first thing I ever saw her in and I thought she looked gorgeous in it (if a bit charisma-free).

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

She turns out to be the main villain in the end of that film.

by Anonymousreply 42February 12, 2019 8:17 PM

She did an HGTV series about 5 years ago where she bought back and renovated her family home. In the clip she says she moved back, but I don't think she did, the family supposedly shares this now as a guest house for everyone.

She also opened a home store in her hometown (Cleveland) around that time. But I think that already went into the shitter.

I love that movie she did with FPJ called Head Over Heels. I also completely forgot that she's in Con Air.

by Anonymousreply 44February 14, 2019 2:14 PM

Monica was great in Parenthood. I didn’t know she was on Y&R.

by Anonymousreply 45February 14, 2019 2:22 PM

[Quote] Monica was great in Parenthood.

Her character was annoying in Parenthood.

by Anonymousreply 46February 14, 2019 2:45 PM

I’m not at all surprised Theron fucked for roles.

by Anonymousreply 47February 14, 2019 3:06 PM

Kamala Harris would have sucked Harvey's dick.

Kamala Harris knows that you have to give head to get ahead.
