Delusional Deplorable Dissonance
I let Youtube autoplay and happened upon an NPR series exploring Deplorable counties. I started on Samantha Bee, ended up on Joe Rogan , then somehow got to this NPR show. They are interviewing deplorables from a Trump county in Missouri. Long story short, the Deplorables are losing their jobs b/c of the tariff.
There is some woman in this who STILL thinks Trump = doing things for the good of America. Like bitch... how ? You are likely about to lose your job because of him, people are Ford and Harley Davidson HAVE lost jobs and pretty much anything in manufacturing is following a similar trend. I swear this shit is like a torture show. I feel like I'm watching that one friend in an abusive relationship make excuses for why their significant other beat the shit out of them.
I also own Hillbilly Elegy, but haven't read it yet. Pod Save America seems to be more about election predictions now , and the Young Turks tire me the hell out b/c they still want people to #FeelTheBern. I find this type of show informative, so if any of you can post other examples of Trumpgrets please do.

I know R4 , but this is a whole level of denialism. The Shutdown + the tariff layoffs + the tax refunds shrinking should turn most workers against this guy. His approval ratings should be below 33% yet they aren't. Watching this was some scary shit b/c it reminded me of the Michael Moore documentary where he predicted Trump would win.
R6 and others, I'm surrounded by Deplorables and Trumpkins, but I get why Business Owner Joe would vote Republican. I do not get why poor whites under the age of 45 do it when it's clear Republicans don't benefit you. At some point you have to face reality, and these people aren't.

"Gaslit Nation" with Andrea Chalupa and Sarah Kendzior gets into the headspace of the Trumpies better than most podcasts. Kendzior is the author of the excellent "The View From Flyover Country", which I think is insightful. Worth a read.
