The detail and corroboration is mind-boggling. It's like a very well-written murder mystery, and most of the details seem verifiable.

This report is harrowing and sustained horror over decades. Like the Zodiac and other serial killers, it would make a nail-biting movie or TV series. Don't be surprised if this turns up as one.

It's one of the very best crime investigations I've ever read; I'm not quite to the end of the 3rd part. I know 2 of the incidental figures from the beginning section: Johny Hibert (his band opened for the Sex Pistols' show in Atlanta in '76), and Danny Porter, the DA in Gwinnett County (just east of Atlanta).

I don't think I can take anymore grisly exposés of artists I truly loved and admired.

r1, the article suggests that James Brown beat his wives and raped Jacque Hollander; that he had thugs and cops on his payroll as part of a "machine" to protect his wealth and career that used hardline tactics -- including shoot ups of musicians that owed him money -- to get him anything he wanted.

But it also suggests that the machine -- his manager, lawyer and accountant -- eventually came to drug and trick James Brown into signing his fortune away and began blackmailing, threatening and "running" James Brown.

It suggests that "the machine" killed Brown's 3rd wife to his horror and eventually collaborated with James Brown's own daughters to kill him before he could cut them off and start a new life with his 4th wife in New York.

Appalling. Don't lie down with dogs, folks -- they will own you for the rest of your life.

r5, the report alleges that James Brown's "machine" had holes drilled into multiple enemies' houses to spy -- along with cameras installed.

Whatever else it leads to, the story certainly indicates that there was plenty of justification, somewhere, for all the crazy behavior that has followed the story of Brown's death and his estate ever since the day he died. (I.e. where is his body nowadays?)

It also serves as a lesson not to be an ASSHOLE.

Because, by all accounts, James Brown was pompous, arrogant douchebag to everyone and treated them all like shit who were beneath him.

The articles cite how Brown maintained his whole life that his children were not to receive "one dime" of his estate in his will, and that Brown's "machine" may have bribed his own daughters into helping cover up Brown's murder to profit.
