IMDB's list of openly gay/bi celebrities

Why is Channing Tatum listed at #25 and Josh Hutcherson at #27?

As far as I know, neither of them has publicly declared being either gay or bisexual.

I wonder if either of them is aware that they're listed there?

I also see some other questionable listings, such as John Wesley Shipp at #92, plus a few more.

I'm surprised IMDb hasn't been sued over this.

JWS is out at last. See his Facebook page.

by Anonymousreply 2February 2, 2019 1:07 PM

Oh, okay R2.

I remember back in the day when there were rumors about him hooking up with James Vanderbeek, and they both denied any rumors of either of them being gay.

Now that JWS is out, I wonder if that changes the perception of Vanderbeek? You know the saying, "where there's smoke, there's fire."

Weren't there rumors about JWS even before Dawson's Creek? I always thought the rumors were a product of that.

Remember when he posted on Datalounge in a thread about himself years ago? That was fun.

It's not an official list posted by IMDB. It's a list created by some random IMDB user, "qwertom." Anyone could have created the list.

Still R5, IMDB can be sued if they're not careful.

Channing Tatum is married with a wife and kids, so I doubt he'd appreciate seeing that.

Especially since IMDB is supposed to be a "legitimate" factoid site.

How did he find out about it??

Any celebrity googling their name can find the Datalounge, if there are threads about them here.

Channing actually admitted to being bisexual when he first showed up, but that's been pretty much scrubbed from the internet. I just remember, because I noticed him right away. There's no evidence left, at this point. Josh had two gay uncles, so he may never have felt a man's touch, but he's not one of our haters.

No, they can't. Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act states that the operators of Internet sites are not legally responsible for defamatory content that was posted by a user of the site. Otherwise, websites (including DataLounge!) would be constantly being sued for comments left by readers. "Qwertom" could potentially be sued, but not IMDB.

Also, these days, calling someone gay is not generally defamatory. Channing Tatum would have a hard time proving that being called gay by some random IMDB user damaged his reputation.

Most celebrities know about Datalounge. I think only new visitors here think they don't.

In this case, he saw it on a Google Alert about himself, responded a few times, and then confirmed it was him by posting about it on his FB page.

If there's a thread with a topic featuring the celebs name it will appear on Google Alerts every few weeks.

Yes, he did. I remember that from years ago. Another one was David Giuntoli who was bi on Facebook but then when Grimm was about to be made decided he wasn't.

A friend of a friend did a gay list on IMDb years ago and it was taken down for including Chuck Zito.

And now he's married to Lois Lane with a kid on the way.
