For a truly debauched read

Read John Phillips' depraved bio, Papa John. He makes Keith Richards look like a school marm.

by Anonymousreply 25February 7, 2019 3:19 AM

Well, OP give us tidbits

by Anonymousreply 1February 1, 2019 12:08 AM

Can you give us some dirt?

by Anonymousreply 2February 1, 2019 12:19 AM

I’m not going to go read it. So share what you know.

by Anonymousreply 3February 1, 2019 12:24 AM

I have a taste for these things, but John Phillips sounds.....too much. How people like him stay alive and keep functioning AT ALL is just beyond my comprehension.

by Anonymousreply 4February 1, 2019 12:29 AM

Basically the book opens with Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall visiting him on Long Island. They find Phillips and his wife, Genevieve Waite, drunk beyond belief and starting fires in their home. Genevieve then steals a diamond earring from Hall. She is confronted and goes nuts to the point thag Hall and Jagger confiscate their children for the weekend. That's just the first five pages.

That*

by Anonymousreply 6February 1, 2019 12:32 AM

I wouldn’t waste 5 seconds reading anything that freak had to say.

by Anonymousreply 7February 1, 2019 12:35 AM

He talks about when in his teens, a neighbor charged a quarter to bang his (the neighbor's) sister. John paid the quarter to the brother pimp and while he was doing it the brother was watching, fapping off...

by Anonymousreply 8February 1, 2019 12:39 AM

You're better off reading it from Mackenzie Phillips' perspective.

by Anonymousreply 9February 1, 2019 12:44 AM

He also used to sell coffins door to door. His father was an angry ex-military drunkard and his mother was also a lush. He lived in a squalid home.

by Anonymousreply 10February 1, 2019 12:44 AM

I couldn't put it down when I read it years ago. Same with Keef's book Life. Both amazing.

by Anonymousreply 11February 1, 2019 12:56 AM

Why won't Jagger write a book??

by Anonymousreply 12February 1, 2019 1:08 AM

What does he say about MacKenzie? Any indication he was more than a father to her?

by Anonymousreply 13February 1, 2019 1:21 AM

Not really but he talks aboit drugging w her

by Anonymousreply 14February 1, 2019 1:23 AM

Read it years ago, it's sordid, but it got decent reviews. No mention of incest with Mackenzie, but he comes off as someone with no boundaries and lecherous--no sense, for example, that there was much all that wrong with the girl being turned-out by her brother, just that it was kind of interestingly kinky. Read the book and it's totally believable that Mackenzie's telling the truth.

I think the only woman who could ever manage him was Michelle Phillips--read her autobiography too--she comes off as an airhead with not much of a moral compass, though okay when it comes to kids. So while not quite so fucking evil as Jon, they were a good match.

by Anonymousreply 15February 1, 2019 3:21 AM

Jagger, the one who fucked Mackenzie when she was underaged, rescued her from her crazy parents one weekend? Gross.

by Anonymousreply 16February 1, 2019 3:23 AM

R11 Keef?

by Anonymousreply 17February 1, 2019 3:54 AM

r16, he waited until she was of age. That's in Mackenzie's book.

by Anonymousreply 18February 1, 2019 11:58 PM

R17 Die-hard Stones fans refer to Keith Richards as Keef.

by Anonymousreply 19February 7, 2019 1:29 AM

Let's put it this way: Mama Cass did not choke on a ham sandwich

by Anonymousreply 20February 7, 2019 1:32 AM

Roman Polanski though John Philips was the one who killed Sharon Tate and the others.

by Anonymousreply 21February 7, 2019 1:59 AM

THOUGHT (typo)

by Anonymousreply 22February 7, 2019 1:59 AM

If it delicately omits his rape of his own drugged daughter in front of his buddies, it's not exactly a tell-all.

by Anonymousreply 23February 7, 2019 2:02 AM

Did anyone really expect him to hold forth about invest with his daughter?

I mean, even roger stone wouldn’t admit that in print.

by Anonymousreply 24February 7, 2019 3:18 AM

Incest.

Damn autocorrect!
