I was a huge fan of Cher during her "Sonny & Cher Show" days. But now I'm truly disappointed in her. Why? Because she completely misses the point of the criticism. This is not a business decision. It's an ableist decision, one that overlooks a key point: We're in an age where so many lesbians who have been exposed to nuclear waste are willing and able to play these roles, only to be overlooked in favor of heterosexual non-radioactive actors.
Casting Cher as a lesbian who's been exposed to nuclear waste? Hollywood could do better

OP give Cher a break. It's called ACTING for a reason. She was ACTING like a lesbian. How did you react to Ellen DeGeneres playing straight in Mr. Wrong? The same way? She was ACTING like a straight woman.
