Houston is filled with bottoms!

Bottoms with beards, bottoms in cowboy boots, bottoms in cowboy hats.

Bottoms, bottoms, bottoms!

by Anonymousreply 35January 27, 2019 5:45 PM

Like that's a bad thing?

by Anonymousreply 1January 26, 2019 4:43 PM

You could write the same about the gay scene in any city.

There are always fewer guys who want to top than what to bottom. This isn't news

by Anonymousreply 2January 26, 2019 4:45 PM

Houston, we have a problem.

by Anonymousreply 3January 26, 2019 4:52 PM

It's not a problem, just an FYI!

by Anonymousreply 4January 26, 2019 4:54 PM

Yeah, and there are very few good looking men there. And a lot of messes as far as I can tell. Drunks. Lots of closet cases. White and black trash from TX or LA, cute little Mexican boys, middle class pretentious gay DLers with their McMansions and BMWs on credit. I actually like Houston - but the gay men are not a reason. Though grateful they at least have a gayborhood still.

by Anonymousreply 5January 26, 2019 5:13 PM

Most gays are bottoms. I would think 85% of gay men are bottoms

by Anonymousreply 6January 26, 2019 5:14 PM

R5 have you actually been to Houston ? Texas has a lot of issues, being Texas and all that, but the men are not one of them. Tons of very hot guys everywhere. You must not be very cute if none talked to you.

by Anonymousreply 7January 26, 2019 5:21 PM

R7, I've never been to Houston or Dallas. What are the gay scenes like there? And the men?

I've been to San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Neither had much of a scene, but I had no trouble finding men. I was at conferences, however, and when you meet guys in hotels, they're usually from out of town.

by Anonymousreply 8January 26, 2019 5:40 PM

Spent a lot of time in Houston, worked there for 2 years. Texas has some really hot men - but not generally in the gay scene. I think the really GL gay guys in Texas all move to CA. There is a reason Houston is one of the fattest cities in US. The only really GL guys I saw were the straight cowboy types with All American looks - most of whom drove pickups with Trump or gun stickers. The gay scene was not those guys.

I do like the gay scene in Houston. A bunch of gay bars in the Montrose and nearby. Great food. I like it more than Dallas - which is less diverse and more pretentious. But both Houston and Dallas have real gay scenes. San Antonio has 1-2 gay bars and is small. Some hot Mexican guys and a few redneck refugeees. But not a gay city. Corpus Christi isn’t a city. It’s a little town. Used to have a sketchy gay bar - but generally no gay scene. Gay people move to San Antonio - or Houston.

by Anonymousreply 9January 26, 2019 6:22 PM

I moved to Galveston and was quite surprised at the very active gay scene in a very small city.

by Anonymousreply 10January 26, 2019 6:24 PM

No tops?

[quote]I would think 85% of gay men are bottoms

Well for every bottom, there's a top

by Anonymousreply 13January 26, 2019 9:19 PM

Don’t the Bottoms smell?

by Anonymousreply 14January 26, 2019 9:21 PM

Yayyyyy, I'm headed there in 2 weeks.

by Anonymousreply 15January 26, 2019 9:22 PM

Are there tops in Dallas?

by Anonymousreply 16January 26, 2019 9:42 PM

Most cities are bottom heavy. You need to get out into the countryside to find decent tops nowadays.

by Anonymousreply 17January 26, 2019 9:45 PM

Why do bottoms seem to outnumber tops?

I placed an ad in the paper a while back asking for a top and when I got a response, I went to his house for drinks. We started talking and he told me that he wanted me to fuck him!!!! "But I asked for a top! Why'd you say you were a top if you aren't?". "Well, I thought that I might be able to change your mind...". he said sheepishly. I called him a liar and a game-player and I left.

I don't date any longer - tired of being disappointed.

Dallas has a more thriving "gay scene" than most US cities honestly. Tons of really large bars that are usually packed, smaller hole-in-the-wall joints with hot make strippers, gay events. etc. LA has a different level of guys (which can be good or bad depending), but Dallas certainly does have thriving scene. Houston is not bad either - although perhaps smaller all in all. San Antonio basically has nothing in comparison to the other cities mentioned.

by Anonymousreply 19January 26, 2019 9:50 PM

R13 logic for a moron. 93% of gay men are bottoms.

by Anonymousreply 20January 26, 2019 9:55 PM

Well, I am 53 now...eldergay territory. Might as well get a cat.

AND GET OFF OF MY LAWN!

by Anonymousreply 21January 26, 2019 9:55 PM

I lived in Houston for 2 years about a decade ago. I went to a gym that was somewhat gay and there were some very very good looking gay men that went to that gym..........I remember one guy I sort of guessed his deal, I knew him to say hello to.......anyway went to a major texas university, was a fraternity brother, came out after college. Extremely attractive, great body, he did some modeling on the side and had a white collar job..................his best friend and constant workout partner was even better looking and worked in the medical field Houston has a huge huge medical/hospital thing going on especially in cardiology.................... so any larger gay community is going to have its fair share of great looking men and Houston does.

The one weird vibe I got was the physicality of houston, especially the gay montrose area where the bars were...............there was no zoning so the neighborhoods were weird...you might find a gay bar smack in the middle of a residential street. with a restaurant thown in for good measure

]quote]Dallas has a more thriving "gay scene" than most US cities honestly.

Dallas and Houston come in after Chicago as the 4th and 5th biggest metros in the United States. Of course they have significant gay scenes.

by Anonymousreply 23January 26, 2019 11:59 PM

There is a national top shortage. Rationing may begin soon.

by Anonymousreply 24January 27, 2019 12:03 AM

Cowboy bottoms sound hot.

by Anonymousreply 25January 27, 2019 3:46 AM

Also OP, how do you know they're bottoms?

by Anonymousreply 26January 27, 2019 3:46 AM

I’ve lived in San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, and now Houston. It is by FAR the best city in Texas! I live in the Montrose “gayborhood” and there is no shortage of things to do, plus housing is super reasonable. I will definitely stay here for the long haul (I’m 48 now) ....as far as “tops or bottoms” most all Texas guys I meet are flexible and do what you’re in the mood for. All you gotta do is ask! That’s Houston hospitality!!

by Anonymousreply 27January 27, 2019 4:15 AM

I agree R27. Having spent time in all major TX cities, Houston is the best. Size, diversity, food, housing, gayborhood. As has been mentioned on other threads the Dallas Prada queens are unbearable - especially when mixed with all the straight Bible Belters down from OK. Houston is less pretentious and more laid back and more fun.

by Anonymousreply 28January 27, 2019 4:20 AM

Should be a top destination for tops then.

by Anonymousreply 29January 27, 2019 4:43 AM

CA native here. I lived in Houston for 5 years and LOVED it. I only left because ,my partner wanted to move back to California...and for the record...I ONLY topped in Houston (and everywhere else for that matter).

by Anonymousreply 30January 27, 2019 6:02 AM

Houston is fine, but here are some major draw-backs IMO: 1) It is HOT and HUMID as fuck - 5 to 6 months out of the year are almost unbearable (Dallas can get HOT, but isn't humid on top of the extreme heat - neither city is ideal here). 2) The city is very, very, very spread out and the traffic is insane - it takes hours to get from one part of the city to the other at times (yes, in LA we used to this - but in Houston it seems more annoying). 3) The infestation of gigantic cockroaches and mosquitoes is baffling (it has to be experienced to really believe it). If you are fine with those three things - Houston is a fine place to live and has every amenity that a big city could offer.

by Anonymousreply 31January 27, 2019 6:11 AM

r18 -- Oh my God, I can't believe it. You placed an ad in a paper?!

by Anonymousreply 32January 27, 2019 6:27 AM

Too bad. I need lip gloss and Prada.

by Anonymousreply 33January 27, 2019 6:40 AM

After a few more hurricanes, Houston will be beneath fifteen feet of water. Permanently.

by Anonymousreply 34January 27, 2019 6:49 AM

Dallas bottoms are vicious. That much I know.
