Do people who post on those things want privacy?

I don't want my FB friends (and FAMILY) seeing my private/secret IG account which I use to perv on hot guys.

R2, why have you registered with any info that would connect the two? Is there some way to keep it separate or are they linked by your IP?
I use throw away email addresses to register for anything not connected to my work. Obviously with a subpoena they could probably connect the dots of my labyrinthian internet identity but that's not the issue.

I never use Facebook to make comments on articles or to sign up for other services like yelp etc. just keel it separate or make a fake fb account. They’re still gonna have all your data internally, but if you don’t want it externally make another account.

I don't know, R2. All I know is I was HORRIFIED to find about a year back that my secret IG was recommending that I follow friends & family members who I'm friends with on my FB account (and so I can only assume it was recommending they follow my IG as well). I NEVER linked my IG to my FB account and I have never installed the FB app on my phone. I even have contact syncing turned off on my IG. And yet that somehow still happened. I was fucking mortified and livid. I remember Googling how the fuck that could have happened and found a ton of other people who'd had the same experience, often with very bad results for them. It's a complete & total invasion of my privacy to be linking my various accounts all together without my fucking permission.

That’s fucked up r5. It sounds like they used your IP address.

This must be stopped. Sinister nerds like Fuckerberg shouldn't have so much power.

Privacy. How quaint.

They say, it will all remain separate but their messaging system will be linked. For example, Someone can use FB to send a message to someone on Whatsapp (who doesn't have fb).
This is just a complete spy job. They want to know all your friends and they also read your messages btw...
FB have patents that can turn on the camera of your smartphone even when it's turned off to see your mood when you look at fb. If you're happy when you see a video or sad etc, all for marketing data.
They spy via mic too. it's real, they have patent for this.

There’s a pic of zuck out there with his laptop and tape over his mic and his camera. It’s annoying / self -defeating to do on your phone but takes a second on your computer.

Their patent turns mic on to record your reaction to ads. so they say.
As reported by Mashable, Facebook could embed high-pitched audio signals in broadcast content that -- while inaudible to humans -- could be deciphered by smartphones, triggering them into recording "ambient audio" and sending it back to Facebook. So you're watching TV, an advert comes on, then Facebook gets a recording of your response to that advert -- assuming you respond at all and aren't just sitting there with the glazed expression prompted by most TV ads.

As long as you’re logged into FB, they’re tracking your every click and keystroke as you conduct your other online business. They may even continue tracking after you’re logged out as well. Creepy.

OP you think that's alarming. Ask me about Facebook's masterplan to be a government contractor when the NSA is privatized.

When this happens, I’m abandoning WhatApp for Signal
I’ve deleted my Facebook, never post pictures and rarely comment on Instagram, but I’m considering doing away with IG too.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 25, 2019 9:05 PM |
FB will be my first deletion, then Whatsapp. I need IG for j/o material though so I'll save that for last.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 25, 2019 9:10 PM |
So don't use them. Problem solved.
