Leslie Jones Slams Upcoming ‘Ghostbusters’ Movie, Says It’s ‘Something Trump Would Do’

Leslie Jones is not supporting the new Ghostbusters movie.

After it was announced that Jason Reitman would be directing the continuation of the 1984 sequel, the 51-year-old Saturday Night Live star took to Twitter to reveal how insulted she feels about the new movie.

"So insulting. Like fuck us," Leslie tweeted. "We dint [sec] count. It’s like something trump would do. (Trump voice) 'Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers' ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give fuck I’m saying something!!"

Leslie starred alongside Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Kate McKinnon in the female-led Ghostbusters reboot that was released in 2016.

Jason's Ghostbusters is set to hit theaters in 2020.

Now she knows how fans of the original movie felt when her version was made.

by Anonymousreply 1January 20, 2019 7:00 AM

Is Kristen Wiig over? Please say it is so.

by Anonymousreply 2January 20, 2019 7:02 AM

I haven't seen the female version, so I can't judge, but go Leslie anyway.

by Anonymousreply 3January 20, 2019 7:03 AM

Huh, the female version gets 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, couldn't be that bad, even if it flopped.

by Anonymousreply 4January 20, 2019 7:06 AM

[quote] I haven't seen the female version, so I can't judge

I haven't seen it either but I can judge. The film grossed $128 million but had production costs of $144 million. PLUS advertising and misc costs on top of that. SO it bombed pretty big.

by Anonymousreply 5January 20, 2019 7:07 AM

Yet it gets a solid fresh rating on RT. With all the criticism, I was thinking it'd be in the 30s. Not all good movies are commercial, to say the least. Naysayers would have a much better case if the critics had hated it.

by Anonymousreply 6January 20, 2019 7:10 AM

r6 If you think $100 million-dollar-movies are made only so they can get a good Rotten Tomatoes rating, you're a gigantic imbecile.

Plus, a lot of the good reviews were made just so critics could spite the 4chan mob whining about the movie.

by Anonymousreply 7January 20, 2019 7:16 AM

Also r1 is right. Leslie doesn't seem to know that the original film had a male main cast. It's her version that did the gender reversal.

by Anonymousreply 8January 20, 2019 7:17 AM

I'm a pretty big Kate McKinnon fan and want see the movie, now that I know it wasn't a critical failure.

by Anonymousreply 9January 20, 2019 7:19 AM

told ya so.........

by Anonymousreply 10January 20, 2019 7:19 AM

I pretty enjoyed the female version one. Chris Hemsworth was super hot in the movie.

Yes, that's precisely what I think, they were only hoping for a decent RT rating, you got me!

by Anonymousreply 13January 20, 2019 7:22 AM

All the incels were furious when the female version came about. They spread false reviews on the internet and invaded message boards urging everyone not to go.

What's the bet this new one will be worse, but infinitely more popular at the box office?

I understand why she's pissed. I would be too in her shoes.

by Anonymousreply 14January 20, 2019 7:24 AM

Leslie Jones is well on her way back to being nobody. Her Ghostbusters was a flop and nobody cares what bellyaching she's offering. She should shut her big yap before she finishes off her career.

by Anonymousreply 15January 20, 2019 7:25 AM

I think this version was in the works prior to the female version.

and what is an "incel" r14?

by Anonymousreply 16January 20, 2019 7:25 AM

btw I didn't even like the original.

The remake stunk. Like lots. The original bored me st the time but the remake was stupid with unlikable characters.

by Anonymousreply 20January 20, 2019 7:47 AM

I liked the all-female remake; it was a good film. I don't know why Chris Hemsworth's character was such a dumbass, though. No one's THAT stupid.

by Anonymousreply 21January 20, 2019 7:51 AM

R21 The whole trope about hot guys being stupid is old and laughable.

by Anonymousreply 22January 20, 2019 7:55 AM

The remake was fine but it wasn't a big enough hit to generate a sequel.

by Anonymousreply 23January 20, 2019 7:56 AM

"Something Trump would do"?

Slow your roll, Leslie, you're making us look bad.

by Anonymousreply 24January 20, 2019 7:57 AM

A new Ghostbusters film connected to the original two films was revealed in January 2019, with a planned mid-2020 release date. Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, will direct from a script co-written by himself and Gil Kenan, while Ivan Reitman will serve as a producer. According to Entertainment Weekly's Borys Kit, the film will feature children, two boys and two girls, as the new recruits for the titular team.

So 2020 will be a children's version, and it'll be an even gender mix. I'd like to see the female version, but Leslie does have to accept they weren't going to make a sequel for it when it lost so much money. That's showbiz.

by Anonymousreply 25January 20, 2019 8:08 AM

and she sinks deeper into being wrong (see r25)

What is she reacting to so strongly? Her movie was directed by a man btw.

by Anonymousreply 26January 20, 2019 8:13 AM

[quote]Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers

First time Leslie ever made me laugh

by Anonymousreply 27January 20, 2019 8:18 AM

She must have taken the tweet down. I don't see it on her page anymore.

by Anonymousreply 28January 20, 2019 8:19 AM

I loved Ghostbusters when it came out. I was also a third grader. I’m not going to watch a ghostbusters movie now, no matter who stars in it.

by Anonymousreply 29January 20, 2019 8:24 AM

[Quote] Is Kristen Wiig over? Please say it is so.

She's going to be playing a villain in the new Wonder Woman.

by Anonymousreply 30January 20, 2019 2:08 PM

Who cares what she says. Her opinions are not important. She is an unimportant nonentity.

by Anonymousreply 31January 20, 2019 2:16 PM

Leslie is known for her beauty.

by Anonymousreply 32January 20, 2019 2:23 PM

Love her! Their version was funny - nothing ever compares to an original, though.

by Anonymousreply 33January 20, 2019 2:26 PM

I like the fact that in spite of all the harassment she's endured on social media, she continues to say what she thinks.

by Anonymousreply 34January 20, 2019 2:28 PM

I like her a lot, but that rant was stupid. She's hilarious. I hated the original Ghostbusters - the female version was mildly funny.

by Anonymousreply 35January 20, 2019 2:29 PM

Exactly, r35. Leslie's undoubtedly been far more successful than she'd dreamed, and has no fucks left to give. She was never destined for superstardom, she'll keep working, make a small fortune and have an exciting life. Her haters' hate can't touch her, it must drive them crazy.

by Anonymousreply 36January 20, 2019 2:32 PM

Ghostbusters 2016: $229 million box office on a budget of $144 million

RT: 74%/267 reviews with avg score of 6.5/10. Audience 51%/117K reviews with avg score 3.1/5

It simply didn't do well enough to get a sequel. If other people want to pour money into another remake, I don't see the problem beyond the broader issue of lack of imagination or being creatively bereft.

by Anonymousreply 37January 20, 2019 2:36 PM

Loved the female version.

by Anonymousreply 38January 20, 2019 2:36 PM

It is simple economics. Why would a studio once again shell out hundreds of millions for her and her co-stars to star in something that was one on the biggest box office bombs of all time and rightly got mediocre reviews? Wigg seemed like she was sedated. Jones was a stereotype. McCarthy did fat people falling jokes, and McKinnon's weird schtick is tired after five minutes, which is why she is still stuck on SNL.

What's the big mystery? Sony's Venom was pure trash, but it made tons if money and getting a sequel. Jones us acting like she is new to the industry.

by Anonymousreply 39January 20, 2019 2:49 PM

Let the market decide! We don't have centralized politically determined art in this country.

by Anonymousreply 40January 20, 2019 2:50 PM

Regardless of the genders of the actors involved, all these movies are for American infants.

by Anonymousreply 41January 20, 2019 2:57 PM

Looks like a cross between a man and an ape.

by Anonymousreply 42January 20, 2019 2:58 PM

Here we go, the racists just can't help themselves.

by Anonymousreply 43January 20, 2019 2:59 PM

I thought the female reboot was entertaining. But I think Sony’s plan was always to do multiple extensions of the Ghostbusters brand. At one point there was going to be a new team of male GB as well with Channing Tatum.

by Anonymousreply 44January 20, 2019 3:00 PM

I'm glad they never bothered to dig up the original cast. They wanted to, but Bill Murray refused, saying they were far too old and would make fools of themselves,

by Anonymousreply 45January 20, 2019 3:04 PM

Does anyone really care about Ghostbusters anymore? It has 80's nostalgia, but it is like these endless Robin Hood and King Arthur reboots that always turn out to be huge bombs. And it is not as if any of them have modest budgets.

by Anonymousreply 46January 20, 2019 3:07 PM

Ghostbusters movies are no less pointless, or infantile, than all the comic book movies we're flooded with.

by Anonymousreply 47January 20, 2019 3:11 PM

R47 completely missed the point. Ghostbusters is losing hundreds of millions of dollars, unlike the comicbook movies. It is all about money.

by Anonymousreply 48January 20, 2019 3:30 PM

An honest feminist would create new and fresh roles with strong female characters/heroes. Wonder Woman. Xena. Captain Janeway. Buffy. Jessica Jones. Rogue One. On and on.

There is nothing progressive or creative about rebooting/retooling something from the past just to switch the gender roles. It reinforces the idea that for a female character to arouse interest, it has to be based on an established male character.

And stating that doesn't make someone an "incel." But when you lack intellectual curiosity or the ability to comprehend nuance, name calling is all you have.

by Anonymousreply 49January 20, 2019 3:43 PM

The female Ghostbusters was NOT funny. Cringe all the way.

by Anonymousreply 50January 20, 2019 3:46 PM

R49: It's all fiction, they can be any gender they want. Romeo and Juliet has been redone with an all male gay cast. Is that wrong and evil, must we write our own Shakespearean tales, lest we be considered "lazy"? Get over yourself.

by Anonymousreply 51January 20, 2019 3:50 PM

I see L eslie's point. The new script should incorporate some of the female characters.

by Anonymousreply 52January 20, 2019 3:57 PM

I'd rather see an animated series that more closely resembles the original movies and where someone can reprise the role of Egon. Ghostbusters the Video Game (or Ghostbuster 3 as I like to call it) was terrific, with the cast still showing great chemistry, and a story that effectively raised the stakes from the first two movies. Better yet, it paid homage to the first two movies by reintroducing us to some of the same locations and ghosts from the first two films, but also expanding the story and making it even more otherworldly. This is the only way to go with Ghostbusters if you ask me.

And the remake was awful. It wasn't even the actors' fault. The writing was absolutely atrocious. Chris Hemsworth's character was too dumb to live. The characters and situations were all over the top (comedy isn't effective when every single character is the comedic foil, you need a serious character to act realistically), the pacing was off due to improvisation, the scares from the original (yes the the original was scary and thrilling in parts especially if you saw it as a kid) were completely removed, the cameos were insulting, the music choices were cringey. Much of the movie felt like a bad SNL skit that drags on and on (that's really saying something considering the current state of SNL). The villain sucked and was completely forgettable. CGI was overdone. And I could go on and on. The movie was even worse that what the fans were saying. The critics completely embarrassed themselves. And from what I can tell Leslie Jones is just an awful person.

by Anonymousreply 53January 20, 2019 4:06 PM

She's just mad she wasn't invited to be in the movie.

So now all future Ghostbusters must be women, because of the 2016 flop?

I don't know if I'd trust the Rotten Tomatoes score. It's based off published reviews - the furor around the movie was such that any reviewer giving it a bad rating would be branded a MRA, unless they were a woman, and then they'd be criticized for supporting MRAs. It was a toxic situation.

Similar to Black Panther, you couldn't say it was a decent movie, if you didn't say it was groundbreaking and the most amazing thing ever, you would get accused of being racist.

by Anonymousreply 54January 20, 2019 4:07 PM

r48, but why should *I* care about that? I just watch movies, I don't have a financial stake in them.

by Anonymousreply 57January 20, 2019 4:15 PM

R54 I guess that's to be expected when you cast actresses who are all stars in their own right and are considered scene stealers. They completely cannibalize eachother. Leslie Jones may be the exception but she was already cast as a stereotype.

by Anonymousreply 58January 20, 2019 4:22 PM

Meant to quote RR53 ^^^

by Anonymousreply 59January 20, 2019 4:22 PM

“Something that Trump would do”? I’m so sick of self-important actors. No, hon, “something that Trump would do” is molest women, buddy up to murderous dictators, and deprive hundreds of Americans of their salaries in order to promote a defense tactic, one that could not suffice to save Ancient Rome, against an imaginary crisis.

What happened is that you made a mediocre reboot of a classic movie in the place of a long-awaited direct sequel. When film promoters realized that the movie was no good in its own right, they decided to market it as some feminist crusade against a few gross men who objected to the reboot because it starred women rather than the actual quality of the film. Now THAT is and abhorrent tactic, and taking advantage of a group of people’s fears and insecurities to sell a product is definitely “something that trump would do.”

by Anonymousreply 60January 20, 2019 4:23 PM

I'm offended by the fact that there's a remake at all. Male/female, I don't give a shit. Come up with an original fucking idea, you Hollywood hacks! Must most of this shit be a remake or some superhero crap at this point?

by Anonymousreply 64January 20, 2019 4:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 67January 20, 2019 5:16 PM

R67, how do you know this about Wiig?

by Anonymousreply 68January 20, 2019 5:18 PM

she sounds deranged. and the female version was shit. (not that the original versions were masterpieces, but still...)

by Anonymousreply 69January 20, 2019 5:19 PM

God, you are a dumbass, r55. Why the fuck would as studio again invest hundreds of millions of dollars in a movie with the same characters that were rejected by the majority and is one is the biggest bombs on record? Because your stupid ass liked it? Moron.

by Anonymousreply 70January 20, 2019 6:22 PM

I rewatched the original, which I had not seen since childhood, when the new movie came out and there was so much buzz about some people being offended that the original masterpiece was being “rebooted.” As it turns out, the original masterpiece was imaginative, a little bit funny, very dumb and (for me as an adult) tedious. I turned it off. It’s fine and it’s of its time, but I really don’t think it is a very good movie.

by Anonymousreply 71January 20, 2019 6:31 PM

The "Ghostbusters" reboot got 74% fresh rating from RT but only a 50% top critics and 51% audience fresh rating. I'm willing to be there were a lot of critics give it positive reviews because they had an agenda to fill, especially considering the negative blowback the film got.

by Anonymousreply 72January 20, 2019 6:43 PM

They shouldn't have made the reboot and they shouldn't make this third movie with 80 year old grandpa Ghostbusters.

Just leave the classics where they belong, God damn it. In the past.

by Anonymousreply 73January 20, 2019 6:48 PM

I like the cast in the remake. Unfortunately it was horrible. Didn't make it half way through watching. Bad writing.

by Anonymousreply 74January 20, 2019 7:02 PM

You would think that after doing an all-woman version in answer to the all-male original, they could maybe produce one with a mixed cast?

by Anonymousreply 75January 20, 2019 7:05 PM

The movie was terrible. The good RT score is to avoid being labeled “sexist”

by Anonymousreply 76January 20, 2019 7:07 PM

I watched parts of the remake with the female cast. It was terrible. really, really bad.

by Anonymousreply 77January 20, 2019 7:08 PM

R77 exactly.

Critics give good reviews to bad movies all the time. This is the perfect example

by Anonymousreply 78January 20, 2019 7:10 PM

[quote] You would think that after doing an all-woman version in answer to the all-male original, they could maybe produce one with a mixed cast?

That IS what they're doing, and it was reported in this thread by me. The 2020 version will have children as the Ghostbusters, 2 boys and 2 girls.

by Anonymousreply 79January 20, 2019 7:15 PM

I never said any of that, you enraged freak. I haven't seen a Ghostbusters movie in 30ys and couldn't care less if they never made another one. No one would put up with such a stupid, hostile person as you in real life, that's why obviously why you come here. See ya, wouldn't want to be ya.

by Anonymousreply 80January 20, 2019 7:17 PM

I wanted to like it, but just couldn't, I had to turn it off. It was free on TV too (well, my cable TV) Don't waste your time.

by Anonymousreply 81January 20, 2019 7:23 PM

Leslie desperately needs a new set of teeth that don't look like they were pulled out of a Clydesdale's mouth.

by Anonymousreply 82January 20, 2019 7:25 PM

I wanted to like it too but it was truly BAD. Critics honestly just gave it good reviews to not be called “sexist” like fans that didn’t like.

by Anonymousreply 83January 20, 2019 7:25 PM

Who’s the cast? I’m guessing “diverse” right?

by Anonymousreply 84January 20, 2019 7:25 PM

Leslie is a strange one to me. Her jokes aren’t usually very funny, and she is terrible with her line reads—and yet she makes me laugh on SNL more than anyone except maybe Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon and Kenan Thompson.

Tangent, but Cecily Strong is my favorite current cast member and I don’t understand why she has never broken out. She’s like Phil Hartman in that she is just consistently funny but never gets any acclaim. Kate McKinnon would be my favorite if she weren’t the “star” of the whole contraption now the way Kristen Wiig was before her. I kind of resent when one person is made the centerpiece of an ensemble.

by Anonymousreply 85January 20, 2019 7:31 PM

Poor r80 is so flustered that he could not even quote correctly. I understand you are too slow to understand that the conversation of this thread was about why Sony is not using the current cast in future movies because if its poor finacial performance and mainstream reception. No one gives a rat's ass that you don't care about box office, Not that you write as if you would comprehend it anyway.

And by the way, people love that I can keep up in a convesation...unlike yourself.

by Anonymousreply 86January 20, 2019 7:38 PM

We’re not supposed to talk about that.

by Anonymousreply 95January 21, 2019 2:05 PM

I was surprised how bad she was in that Saturday Night Live sketch this past weekend. Comedic timing was completely off and it seemed like she was having problems remembering her three lines.

by Anonymousreply 96January 21, 2019 2:38 PM

Yeah, again, I think it’s kind of odd that Jones can be hilarious—she really has made me laugh out loud a lot—but her line reading is reliably poor. She is naturally so funny that she overcomes lackluster skills and poor material a lot of the time. It is a one-note kind of presentation/character, but still often hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 97January 21, 2019 2:44 PM

You really should look more closely at what the "reviews" and ratings actually say. As I noted in r37 - RT: 74%/267 reviews with avg score of 6.5/10. Audience 51%/117K reviews with avg score 3.1/5.

Scores of over 60 percent are considered fresh, and scores of 59 percent and under are rotten - the AVERAGE score by critics was 6.5. To get the 74% Fresh rating, 175 of the 267 reviewers gave the movie a 6.0 score or better.

It really isn't all that positive, certainly not sufficient to categorically state that, as a group, there was some agenda.

by Anonymousreply 98January 21, 2019 2:57 PM

R96 That's how she always is. She can't read a cue card to save her life, and she has no comedic range at all. The only thing she can really do is swear on stage. Some people think that's funny. She's lucky to have the career she does.

by Anonymousreply 99January 21, 2019 2:59 PM

R99 It’s more than swearing. The energy of her persona is funny. Unfortunately, it’s a kind of humor predicated on the angry/unstable black woman stereotype, and she doesn’t offer anything beyond that.

by Anonymousreply 100January 21, 2019 3:01 PM

Yeah, her timing is awful. I don't think she's particularly awful (I do think she has the chops from time to time) but sometimes she is just flat. Another annoying thing she does is what a lot of the SNL people are doing now. That is, she pretends what's going on is so funny she just has to bust out laughing. It's so fake and overdone. Ryan Gosling does that shit too.

by Anonymousreply 101January 21, 2019 3:01 PM

R101 They do that because the most memorable and funniest moments from SNL often are when the performers *actually* break character and crack up. That’s what makes this skit so good.

by Anonymousreply 106January 21, 2019 3:26 PM

R106 She has an opportunity to not be a female "Amos 'N Andy" and present something more than a worn out stereotype of a trashy black woman. She could do better.

by Anonymousreply 107January 21, 2019 3:32 PM

^Then say that. Don't say "black people" as though they are all responsible for one woman's choices.

by Anonymousreply 108January 21, 2019 3:34 PM

It seems every conversation about this woman—even when it starts out with observations of her comic prowess—quickly devolves to racist rhetoric. Every single time.

That cuts right through the subtext.

by Anonymousreply 109January 21, 2019 3:36 PM

She's very manly looking. An ugy man.

by Anonymousreply 110January 21, 2019 3:37 PM

R110 Go back to the UK, Milo.

by Anonymousreply 111January 21, 2019 3:38 PM

R109 Maybe it's because she's only too happy to reinforce the worst stereotypes of black people.

by Anonymousreply 112January 21, 2019 3:40 PM

R109 um, 90 posts in a thread isn't exactly quickly. I was pleasantly surprised it took that long. And there's always the poster who has to say something about it, rather than just ignoring or F&Fing it.

by Anonymousreply 113January 21, 2019 3:59 PM

I would like to point out that incels were upset about it because I used to check their Reddit for laughs.

And yet they would have slept with any of the cast who would have had them.

by Anonymousreply 114January 21, 2019 4:07 PM

Who's Leslie Jones?

by Anonymousreply 115January 21, 2019 4:10 PM

108 I'll express myself however I want, thank you very much

by Anonymousreply 116January 21, 2019 4:58 PM

R98 I love you so much. The audience , in general, are usually more determinative of what is and isn't a bomb. Afterall, the audience are the people who will make a movie a Cult Classic or an enduring cash cow. I still see Mean Girls and V for Vendetta shit on sale.

Melissa McCarthy has been spamming drek. Up until Can You Forgive Me , she hasn't done anything noteworthy since Bridesmaids. She hurt the film as well b/c of oversaturation and she kinda does the same character over and over. However, Leslie needs to get over herself. Melissa's generic spam is still funny even if over done. Leslie is even more limited. Sometimes shit just ain't funny or a cast doesn't work well together in terms of chemistry. You can still buy Clue which was made over 30 years ago for a reason.

" Flames! on the side of my face..breathing… breathless.." <- More than 3 decades old and still amusing. Leslie should learn to be something other than loud and abrasive. She would also benefit from doing more with her face, voice inflection, mannerisms... you know ACTUAL EFFORT IN MAKING A CHARACTER MORE THAN ONE DIMENSIONAL.

That being said, I still laugh to this day at Leslie's mountain lion joke. She's a good standup comedian, but a super limited actress.

She really is a beast. What makes her think people want to see her ugly ass face on the big screen.

by Anonymousreply 118January 21, 2019 6:17 PM

Hey 4chan.

Are you enjoying the day off from school today?

Aw bless.

by Anonymousreply 119January 21, 2019 6:43 PM

She's inarticulate and barely literate but it's all about being trashy and ghetto now.

by Anonymousreply 120January 21, 2019 6:46 PM

She ain’t got the smarts dat one.

by Anonymousreply 121January 21, 2019 6:54 PM

[quote] she pretends what's going on is so funny she just has to bust out laughing. It's so fake and overdone.

They did that a lot on the Carol Burnett Show too.

by Anonymousreply 122January 21, 2019 6:59 PM

Leslie Jones is lucky she has a career. It’s dumb, ugly, and untalented. How did she get where she’s at? Not from talent. She’ll say anything to keep her name in the news.

by Anonymousreply 123January 21, 2019 8:28 PM

She really is a talentless hog.

by Anonymousreply 124January 22, 2019 7:04 AM

I hate Jason Reitman. No matter how crappy an actor she is, at least Leslie Jones didn't ride her parent's coat tails. And now this hack is going to remake his daddy's film? Please.

by Anonymousreply 125January 22, 2019 7:23 AM

Leslie Jones wants to be in the center of attention just when she was complaining a year ago or more no designer wanted to give her a dress for the red carpet . I mean she thinks she’s Viola Davis or Taraj P Henson ? Always complaining and making a lot of noise .Playing the race card to get what she wants . And someone was foolish enough to deliver then .

by Anonymousreply 126January 22, 2019 7:42 AM

THIS BITCH

by Anonymousreply 127January 22, 2019 8:34 AM

She should have just taken a breath, ranted to her friends for a couple days then decided if she really wanted to say this shit in public. This is nail in the coffin kind of stuff.

I only just watched her Ghostbusters. It was, as others have said, a bunch of SNL skits strung together. I’m sure it was funny on set but when it gets to the editing room it’s just a mess that doesn’t flow. A lot of the SNL alumni are guilty of this. Kristen turns in the same performance she’s ever turned in. Same with Mellisa. The other two ladies are fresh at least.

Get the feeling the new reboot will be cashing in on Stranger Things popularity.

by Anonymousreply 128January 22, 2019 8:51 AM

Someone come out with it and call her the n word. I bet you're all dying to do it.

by Anonymousreply 129January 22, 2019 11:06 AM

Do you mean a NEGATIVE R129? Because she’s one fucking big NEGATIVE!

by Anonymousreply 130January 22, 2019 11:12 AM

Is she a licker?

by Anonymousreply 131January 22, 2019 12:38 PM

[Quote] Melissa McCarthy has been spamming drek. Up until Can You Forgive Me , she hasn't done anything noteworthy since Bridesmaids. She hurt the film as well b/c of oversaturation and she kinda does the same character over and over.

While i agree with you, i did enjoy The Heat and Spy.

She was great in 'Good Times'.

by Anonymousreply 133January 22, 2019 2:22 PM

R78, The Last Jedi is another example. But movie reviewers and especially YouTube personalities all overly and sycophantically depend on studio perks and the chance to talk to the star du jour for five minutes too much to give an honest review. The “men are mean” stuff is just a smokescreen.

by Anonymousreply 134January 22, 2019 2:24 PM

Look at R93 “bookmarking” Honest Trailers. Oh, honey! Get with it!

by Anonymousreply 135January 22, 2019 2:26 PM

R129, when people say the demand for racism exceeds the supply, they mean you, you loser.

by Anonymousreply 136January 22, 2019 2:31 PM

[quote]Similar to Black Panther, you couldn't say it was a decent movie, if you didn't say it was groundbreaking and the most amazing thing ever, you would get accused of being racist.

Just stop it.

by Anonymousreply 137January 22, 2019 2:40 PM

When are her 15 minutes up?

by Anonymousreply 138January 22, 2019 5:08 PM

She's a stereotype that makes me uncomfortable. Half the time she's not even funny on SNL - just a large, loud dark-skinned black woman - the Sapphire stereotype that white people love/hate.

by Anonymousreply 139January 22, 2019 5:10 PM

That female Ghostbusters reboot was so poorly mishandled. Ghostbusters had female fans, sure, but the primary for the original films were boys. That said, it would've been totally appropriate for a reboot to have a diverse cast in terms of race and gender. I don't think anyone would've complained if it was two males and two females in the leads. Instead they decided to make it female exclusive. And as we've learned from countless blubbering Oscar speeches, people want to see themselves reflected in movies and not having a male counterpoint in the film made it uninteresting to the initial target demographic. The final nail in the coffin was when the White Knight director decided to politicize the backlash and make it that, if you didn't want to see the movie, it's because you hate women.

So they took intellectual property with a large fanbase, didn't provide an entryway for that market and, in fact, directly insulted them. So they appealed to the female market, which completely rejected it because they were never the audience for that IP in the first place.

It was like making a Jem and the Holograms movie, casting it all with men, and having the director say women are toxic cunts. Yeah, it's gonna bomb.

by Anonymousreply 140January 22, 2019 11:55 PM

You talk too much R140. Shut it.

by Anonymousreply 141January 23, 2019 12:00 AM

Why are her comments always so hate-filled and vile, unless that accurately portrays who she is as a person?

by Anonymousreply 142January 23, 2019 12:02 AM

R142, she aspires to be the next Kathy Griffin.

by Anonymousreply 143January 23, 2019 12:04 AM

The only problem I had with the original is that Ernie Hudson's part was cut down to nothingness. He's a good actor and an intelligent man. I'm guessing that the leads didn't want him to get the same amount of screen time.

Leslie Jones, OTOH, is so obnoxious and so ready to coon for white people she makes me sick.

by Anonymousreply 144January 23, 2019 12:23 AM

I love a woman of color who speaks her mind. It's sad that scares some of you!

by Anonymousreply 145January 23, 2019 1:10 AM

R145 Speaking one's mind and just being an angry, raging harpy are two different things.

by Anonymousreply 146January 23, 2019 1:12 AM

It doesn’t scare us if it is done intelligently. She, on the other hand, is neither intelligent, nor talented, just lucky.

by Anonymousreply 147January 23, 2019 1:14 AM

R43 fuck you cuck! If n1ggers are so precious to you go cruise the ghetto you npc eunuch motherfucker.

by Anonymousreply 148January 23, 2019 10:19 AM

R145 types colored.

by Anonymousreply 149January 23, 2019 10:24 AM

[quote]I love a woman of color who speaks her mind. It's sad that scares some of you!

Why do some delicate people like to think that if you don't like someone you must "fear" them. I find this so strange. It's such a common assertion that I have to believe it's been added to the SJW Policies and Procedures Manual.

by Anonymousreply 150January 23, 2019 10:53 AM

It really is not wrong to say she’s supremely untalented and ONLY got the SNL gig because Lorne was under massive pressure to fill the diversity quota, he went extra in because she’s so old, privately she’s hated by most of the writers because she destroys their work, she’s actually very nice as a human in life, but really isn’t made for entertainment.

by Anonymousreply 151January 23, 2019 11:51 AM

[Quote] The only problem I had with the original is that Ernie Hudson's part was cut down to nothingness. He's a good actor and an intelligent man. I'm guessing that the leads didn't want him to get the same amount of screen time.

Agreed.

People who accuse others of being racists when they state the obvious: (Leslie Jones styles herself is a spectacularly unattractive man/woman who seems like a walking talking caricature of "the loud obnoxious black female") are laughable.

She knows that will make white people laugh. If she were attractive in any fashion whatsoever, her act of screaming profane lines(mostly about not getting any sex or attention from men) would not be funny. She gets gigs because she looks very much like a lowland silverback. I have seen her in a wig and she looks like a different person. She CAN look much more attractive if she chooses. but she knows what sells and it is her Harambe schtick. Yes, that is a very harsh statement, but it is the truth. She IS Amos and Andy for the 21st century.

Or maybe she is Moms Mabley.

by Anonymousreply 153January 23, 2019 3:31 PM

It'd be easier to have a conversation about her skill as a comedienne if the racist assholes ("cucks", really?) didn't try to "contribute".

by Anonymousreply 154January 23, 2019 4:12 PM

She'll be on welfare before long.

by Anonymousreply 155January 24, 2019 2:08 PM

The best part of the Ghostbusters reboot was, ironically, the only man in the cast: Chris Hemsworth. Kevin's all I remember about that film, other than Leslie Jones being a stereotype and Kate McKinnon being incredibly, incredibly unfunny in the role.

by Anonymousreply 156January 24, 2019 3:26 PM

R156 I agree. He was the best thing about it.
