by Anonymousreply 1January 19, 2019 11:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 2January 19, 2019 11:22 PM

French Onion

by Anonymousreply 3January 19, 2019 11:26 PM

I hate Progresso soup, seriously, they all taste terrible to me.

by Anonymousreply 7January 19, 2019 11:33 PM

You’re all trash for eating canned soup. I make my soups from scratch.

by Anonymousreply 8January 19, 2019 11:33 PM

This is pretty good.

Split Pea

by Anonymousreply 10January 19, 2019 11:37 PM

Any of the cream based ones. So much richer tasting than Campbell's or other soups.

by Anonymousreply 11January 19, 2019 11:39 PM

Mrs Campbell dropped the ball.

by Anonymousreply 12January 19, 2019 11:41 PM

Thank you for doing the honors r8. I will go on with my life now!

by Anonymousreply 13January 19, 2019 11:43 PM

Progresso soups have too much salt.

by Anonymousreply 14January 19, 2019 11:47 PM

R9. I agree with you. The butternut squash is really good for a can soup.

by Anonymousreply 15January 19, 2019 11:52 PM

Chickarina and I add loads of grated parmesan.

by Anonymousreply 16January 19, 2019 11:54 PM

The Split Pea / Bacon soup, with crunched up crackers, and a bottle of chilled Fruit Punch Gator, is the perfect hangover remedy (enjoyed in bed).

by Anonymousreply 19January 20, 2019 1:18 AM

I burnt out on the lentil soup. My new favorite is Hearty Tomato.

by Anonymousreply 20January 20, 2019 7:44 AM

Home style noodles.

by Anonymousreply 21January 20, 2019 8:06 AM

R8 is a soup nazi.

by Anonymousreply 22January 20, 2019 8:16 AM

[quote]My new favorite is Hearty Tomato.

Though it's so sweet, I took to adding salt, Hearty Tomato is infinitely better than Tomato Basil, which should simply be called "Red Dried Basil Soup." I hate dried basil.

by Anonymousreply 23January 20, 2019 8:43 AM

Unfortunately, my supermarket usually places Hearty Tomato next to Tomato Basil on the shelf, and I have twice accidentally grabbed a can of the Tomato Basil.

by Anonymousreply 24January 20, 2019 8:44 AM

I found the Tomato Basil to be too sweet.

by Anonymousreply 25January 20, 2019 8:46 AM

It has become an article of faith among a certain set that when tomato is a main ingredient, sugar must be added to counter its what—its acidity? Well, some overdo it. Progresso is obviously among that "some."

I have hardly ever put sugar in tomato sauce.

by Anonymousreply 26January 20, 2019 8:50 AM

Even for a canned soup, they suck. Bland and flavorless with lots of chunky texture. OK if you are a health nut used to shitty tasting food, not ok if you have a normal or highly developed taste for good food.

by Anonymousreply 27January 20, 2019 8:52 AM

You sound like a fucking pain in the ass r27

by Anonymousreply 28January 23, 2019 3:34 PM

[QUOTE]Though it's so sweet, I took to adding salt

Adding more salt to this crap? There’s already 2,000mg of it in there.

by Anonymousreply 29January 23, 2019 3:39 PM

Chicarina for me! With a couple teaspoons of grated pecorino romano thrown in.

by Anonymousreply 30January 23, 2019 3:41 PM

Current favourites are Chicken and Sausage Gumbo and Cheese Tortellini. Also, any of their split pea soups. I agree that they should stop with the sugar in the tomato based soups, though.

by Anonymousreply 31January 23, 2019 4:39 PM

[quote]WHET Progresso's Black Bean Soup ??? O' Tragedy!

I too, echo this lament. I didn't know there is a Butternut Squash variety. It looks intriguing. I like plain Split Pea with a handful or two of nacho chips, Mushroom, and their Tomato varieties but have to add around 2 oz. of half and half per bowl to satisfy me along with a 1/3 of a sleeve of saltines.

by Anonymousreply 32January 23, 2019 5:15 PM

What food corporation owns Progresso?

I want to write it a letter and tell them their Progresso soup division sucks donkey dongs.

by Anonymousreply 33January 23, 2019 5:24 PM

I like the butternut squash soup, too. It is a little thin so I usually put some white beans in it to make it filling. But it has more flavor and doesn't have that baby food consistency of other butternut squash soups I've gotten at the grocery store.

I don't know why I've never thought to try their split pea soup before, but I will get some.

On the other hand they really do have some gross soups. The beef/vegetable is like a sloppy can of dog food.

by Anonymousreply 34January 23, 2019 5:28 PM

Yet another vote for Chickarina!

by Anonymousreply 35January 23, 2019 5:29 PM

The Pillsbury Company acquired Progresso in 1988. General Mills acquired Pillsbury in 2001.

by Anonymousreply 36January 23, 2019 5:32 PM

"Dear General Mills --

Words cannot express how much your Progresso soups division sucks donkey dongs. Instead I have enclosed a drawing of same."

Please cease and desist and America will thank you.

Sincerely,

Nauseated Consumers Everywhere"

by Anonymousreply 37January 23, 2019 6:01 PM

I like their bean soups, and lentil. Usually, the lentil is on sale and I stock up.

by Anonymousreply 38January 23, 2019 6:21 PM

R32.. I know! I miss their black bean soup. Why did they stop making it..

by Anonymousreply 39January 23, 2019 6:23 PM

New England Clam Chowdah

by Anonymousreply 40January 23, 2019 6:25 PM

Chickarina here, too...also, adding parmesan cheese. I like their chicken soups.

by Anonymousreply 41January 23, 2019 6:31 PM

Another vote for New England Clam Chowder, though I don't buy canned soup anymore because of the high sodium.

by Anonymousreply 45January 23, 2019 8:10 PM

And yet another for chickarina. I can't always find it in stores, so I hoard it when I do.

by Anonymousreply 46January 23, 2019 8:12 PM

I wish some company would come out with an Asian soup line -- Thai, Indian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese, etc.

I'd be all over that.

by Anonymousreply 47January 23, 2019 8:14 PM

I'm going to have to try Chickarina.

by Anonymousreply 48January 23, 2019 8:15 PM

Salt and MSG.

by Anonymousreply 49January 23, 2019 8:17 PM

Wtf is Chickarina? I’ve never seen that one or the Butternut squash.

"Chicken soup with meatballs"

Yeah, it's kind of like a cross between Italian wedding soup and chicken noodle. There are no greens floating in it, and the meatballs are chicken.

by Anonymousreply 53January 23, 2019 8:27 PM

^^ Ick!

by Anonymousreply 54January 23, 2019 8:28 PM

Bizarre looking BB pasta and read the ingredients!

by Anonymousreply 55January 23, 2019 8:30 PM

I just looked at Progresso's website.

They make 2 different Black Bean soups = an Organic Black Bean Soup and a Gluten Free Mexican Black Nean Soup

by Anonymousreply 56January 23, 2019 8:35 PM

love their split pea soup too OP

by Anonymousreply 57January 23, 2019 8:38 PM

Potato Corn Chowder is really good

by Anonymousreply 58January 23, 2019 8:40 PM

I can't stand the Chickarina. Those weird meatballs. Ugh. I like their chicken and homestyle noodles, and the Hearty penne.

by Anonymousreply 59January 23, 2019 8:41 PM

Gas anyone found a tasty prepared chili? Vegetarian or meat.

by Anonymousreply 60January 23, 2019 9:22 PM

"Gas anyone found a tasty prepared chili? "

Nice Freudian slip.

by Anonymousreply 61January 23, 2019 9:45 PM

I'll look for the butternut squash soup...didn't know they had it.

by Anonymousreply 62January 23, 2019 10:40 PM

Tobachnic makes nice frozen soup.

by Anonymousreply 63January 23, 2019 10:40 PM

R47 - people with babytastes would ruin it for everyone else and all heat / flavour would be removed from everything.

by Anonymousreply 64January 23, 2019 10:42 PM

Tobachnik

by Anonymousreply 65January 23, 2019 10:42 PM

Chickarina meatballs are beef/pork, not chicken. There are chicken bits in the broth.

by Anonymousreply 66January 23, 2019 10:46 PM

Well then, that's almost false labeling. They should be sued.

by Anonymousreply 67January 23, 2019 10:51 PM

Doesn't Progresso Soup have Mafia connections?

by Anonymousreply 68January 23, 2019 10:59 PM

Some of the prepared soups you can buy in the supermarket (either hot or cold) are pretty good, but they're a lot more expensive.

by Anonymousreply 71January 24, 2019 1:32 AM

There's no butternut squash soup on their website. Are you sure they still make it (or if they ever did?) I love butternut squash soup, but I usually make my own.

by Anonymousreply 72January 24, 2019 1:36 AM

Just bought some today. Hope it’s as good as posters on this thread are saying.

Progresso soups like most canned soups are EXTREMELY high in sodium.

by Anonymousreply 75January 24, 2019 1:52 AM

Quote -- I just looked at Progresso's website.

That's county, ^^

[quote] Then why the hell can't I find any in Pinellas Country FL for the past six years?

We have our bean secrets.

by Anonymousreply 78January 24, 2019 2:07 AM

Wow I've never seen the butternut squash soup in my store. But I like the chicken sausage gumbo and chicken and dumplings.

by Anonymousreply 79January 24, 2019 2:11 AM

Fuckin' salt bombs.

by Anonymousreply 80January 24, 2019 2:13 AM

Meh -- loaded with sodium and carbs. How hard is it to make a pot of your own soup and freeze the leftover? You'll be eating much healthier than with this canned Progresso dreck.

by Anonymousreply 81January 24, 2019 3:13 AM

The Chicken and Wild Rice makes a great cold remedy if you add a little fresh ginger and garlic, a spoonful of chili paste and a squeeze of lemon. That's my favorite.

by Anonymousreply 82January 24, 2019 3:16 AM

Chicken Corn Chowder

by Anonymousreply 83January 24, 2019 3:50 AM

Progresso New England Chowder is sooo good. I haven’t had it outside of Progresso so can’t compare. I had the chicken pot pie soup for lunch today, and it’s also very good

by Anonymousreply 84January 24, 2019 3:53 AM

I don't worry about the soap being full of sodium because I don't eat it regularly.

I only eat it if I'm sick during the winter.

It's a quick comfort food when I have a cold or flu.

by Anonymousreply 85January 24, 2019 9:15 AM

CREAMY TOMATO BASIL

Dump in a bowl. Add a lot of black pepper. Add a few dashes of Texas Pete. Stir.

Blast in the microwave for 3 minutes.

Dump some cheesy garlic croutons on top. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar. Microwave another 2 minutes.

VOILA!

Tomato Basil is their worst soup. All I can taste is the dried basil, an herb that has no reason for being.

by Anonymousreply 87January 24, 2019 10:13 AM

[quote]I don't worry about the soap being full of sodium because I don't eat it regularly.

I don't ever eat soap if I can help it.

by Anonymousreply 88January 24, 2019 10:14 AM

I know I would fall in love with you R28, if only I could meet you.

by Anonymousreply 89January 24, 2019 12:17 PM

R71... A supermarket where I shop, makes their own homemade soups. A pint is $7.00, pricy, but they're delicious.. and I can get two meals out of it. I like Progresso soups, too.

by Anonymousreply 90January 24, 2019 1:45 PM

I like to doctor up their lentil soup, with sliced pieces of smoked kielbasa, chopped fresh garlic, and a dash of olive oil... with a little salt and fresh ground pepper. It's one of my favorite, easy meals.
