Gregg Arakis "Now Apocalypse"

The promo is already showing some nudity, and we have Avan Jogia and Tyler Posey as boyfriends.

Coming in March

by Anonymousreply 5068 hours ago

Having just watched the trailer I'm still not sure what the fuck it's about.

by Anonymousreply 101/16/2019

Gregg Araki sucks

by Anonymousreply 201/16/2019
Having just watched the trailer I'm still not sure what the fuck it's about.

When did any Araki movie make sense, aside from Mysterious Skin?

by Anonymousreply 301/16/2019

Sighs. All the straight sex on display, all the gay sex in the shadows. I'll pass. If you can't even make a fucking trailer where a main gay character is shown in good light kissing and fucking, but your frau sidekick can, to me this is doomed (pun intended).

by Anonymousreply 401/16/2019

Fuck this straight shit. None for me, I thank you.

by Anonymousreply 501/16/2019

Awesome. Araki is hit and miss — but the pilot he did for an aborted MTV series was hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 601/16/2019

I’m 100% IN. I’m getting Stars for this shit. Can’t wait. Guess I’m super basic. Bring it the fuck ON!

by Anonymousreply 701/16/2019

I'm kinda surprised that Tyler Posey isn't playing one of the leads.

by Anonymousreply 801/16/2019

Gregg Araki still has a career? Now that is shocking news!

by Anonymousreply 901/16/2019

Avan Jogia has a big dick, do we get to see it in this film?

by Anonymousreply 1001/16/2019

free download later. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 1101/16/2019

We've seen Avan Jogia's dick. And Tyler Posey's. And Beau Mirchoff's.

by Anonymousreply 1201/16/2019

r4 needs to put on his glasses cuz if you can't see the gay shit in this trailer your eyeballs are the problem

by Anonymousreply 1301/16/2019

I saw the gay shit just fine. They're in the dark (as I said) and play 1/3 of the time as the straight ones, even though this is implied the gay character is one of the protagonists. So fuck this shit.

by Anonymousreply 1401/16/2019

r12 You're right there's really no reason to watch this. What can softcore network porn show us that we haven't already seen?

by Anonymousreply 1501/16/2019

That looks truly awful.

by Anonymousreply 1601/16/2019
We've seen Avan Jogia's dick.

In what film? I don't know much about him, not my demo. But he is gorgeous, has great hair and looks hung,

by Anonymousreply 1701/16/2019

So this is not a gay series like Looking? It has many co-leads and hottie Tyler is a supporting character. The gay couple is not the central story but one of the stories... meh....

Looking is still the standard for American gay series. And Looking came out after the Trans brigade that destroyed many gay narratives on tv, which makes Looking even more impressive.

by Anonymousreply 1801/16/2019

It does have a 90s feel that is very nostalgic. Apart from Tyler, it seems like everyone else is Bisexual. I'll skip through the straight sex. Yuk.

Evan and Tyler ...MMMMMMMM

by Anonymousreply 1901/16/2019

I'm always happy to see Gregg Araki's work. But it seems to me Gregg has already done this story and these characters before. A few times.

THEN Apocalypse, maybe.

by Anonymousreply 2001/16/2019
Sighs. All the straight sex on display, all the gay sex in the shadows. I'll pass. If you can't even make a fucking trailer where a main gay character is shown in good light kissing and fucking, but your frau sidekick can, to me this is doomed (pun intended).

r4, Araki is bi and more into women, the gay content is used to garner attention.

by Anonymousreply 2101/16/2019

I can't tell if that is supposed to be funny or if you don't know a damn thing about Gregg Araki r21.

by Anonymousreply 2201/16/2019

Well at least we'll get some good gifs out of it.

by Anonymousreply 2301/16/2019
by Anonymousreply 2401/16/2019

What's Gregg done lately?

From Gregg Araki's IMDB profile-

He directed a few episodes of Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" and one episode of "American Crime - Season 2" with DL fav Connor Jessup. And other TV stuff.

He's 59.

by Anonymousreply 2501/16/2019

Well I guess I could watch it with earplugs, so I don't hear the inane dialogue. And just see the pretty people.

by Anonymousreply 2601/16/2019

R26 not a bad idea.

by Anonymousreply 2701/16/2019

The trailer ain't enthralling, but his "Mysterious Skin" was a stunner.

by Anonymousreply 2801/16/2019
Looking is still the standard for American gay series.

What??!! No one liked nor watched that shit. Queer As Folk is the standard, you dumb douche.

by Anonymousreply 2901/16/2019
When did any Araki movie make sense, aside from Mysterious Skin?

Yes, and Mysterious Skin was an adaptation of a book. In Arakis own work he loves going for this super surreal vibe.

And I am not that poster r29, but "Looking" was a superior series to American QAF which a ton of obvious faults were overlooked because it was cutting edge at the same.

by Anonymousreply 3001/17/2019

Araki is hopeless at movie-making.

by Anonymousreply 3101/17/2019

He’s truly terrible. Not one ounce of cinematic ability in him.

by Anonymousreply 3201/17/2019

The Living End was the best summary of gay life in the early 90s. It will always be a touchstone for me. But he’s very much a queer cinema hangover. Not much since Mysterious Skin. But I love his punk gay sensibility.

by Anonymousreply 3301/17/2019

The trailer is incredibly awful. Like a pretentious crappy indie film from the 90's

by Anonymousreply 3401/17/2019

His time has passed.

by Anonymousreply 3501/17/2019

R29: Both are pretty bad, but Looking was boring and that's something unforgivable

by Anonymousreply 3601/17/2019

I think the trailer looks fun, campy and sexy. And I am happy to see Araki was given TV show.

You bitches love to complain, the more queer content the better

by Anonymousreply 3701/17/2019

I liked White Bird In A Blizzard.

by Anonymousreply 3801/17/2019

His amateurish stuff would be unwatchable if he had chosen ugly men to play in his amateurish stuff.

So many current YouTube Webcammers are preferable to this superannuated half-caste clueless hippy.

by Anonymousreply 3901/17/2019
I can't tell if that is supposed to be funny or if you don't know a damn thing about Gregg Araki [R21].

r22, correct me if I'm wrong, I had heard he was bi and had a wife/girlfriend.

Others have described his work (especially his earlier stuff) as amateurish. Would his early work have been noticed by critics if it didn't feature gay content prominently?

by Anonymousreply 4001/17/2019

Araki exploited a niche market just like Gus Van Sant did.

We blindly paid over our cash and accepted their amateurishness because it was all we had at that time. But those times are over!

by Anonymousreply 4101/17/2019

Araki would be described as homoflexible, or bi with a preference for men, or a fluid gay guy or however you want to describe it.

Point being he is far from being mainly into women r40, he has talked about it, but honestly just look at his work and it is pretty obvious.

by Anonymousreply 4201/17/2019

Araki on his sexuality
Do you identify as bisexual? I don’t really identify as anything, I guess. I have a male partner—we’ve been together for three years—but I don’t really identify. I’d probably identify as gay at this point, but I have been with women.

by Anonymousreply 4301/17/2019

The trailer makes it look a lot like Araki's film Kaboom which was a hot mess, but Tyler Posey playing gay is enough to get me to watch the first episode at least

by Anonymousreply 4401/17/2019

Yep r33, I also think The Living End was one of his strongest works, even though it was limited by a very tiny budget. It was better than his "teen apocalypse trilogy" that followed

by Anonymousreply 4501/17/2019
I have a male partner—we’ve been together for three years—but I don’t really identify.

He reeks of delusion, self-loathing and homophobia.

by Anonymousreply 4601/17/2019

R42: Maybe he has a preference for men in private, but he is the kind of bi who publicly date only (or mostly) women

by Anonymousreply 4701/18/2019

his films are amazing

by Anonymousreply 4801/18/2019

I loved Greg's earlier stuff, minus Kaboom. Smiley Face is my favorite. He has had other pilots fail that are just as salacious as this.

by Anonymousreply 4901/18/2019

He always has random aliens.

by Anonymousreply 5001/18/2019

Thanks for this Araki.

by Anonymousreply 5101/18/2019
The show stars the outrageously beautiful Avan Jogia as Ulysses, a vape-hitting stoner temp who moons over his extremely attractive roommate Ford (Beau Mirchoff) when he isn’t hooking up with Tyler Posey (Yes, that guy from Teen Wolf) and having strange recurring dreams about lizard-headed alien creatures.

by Anonymousreply 5201/18/2019

With a last name like Arakis he MUST play Paul Atreides in any upcoming Dune film , and he should legally be required to change all his social media handles to @KwisatzHaderach.

That's all I got to say.

by Anonymousreply 5301/18/2019

Is Tyler Posey that annoying AF Youtube "star"? If so, he's trying to be an actor now?

He needs to go away.

by Anonymousreply 5401/18/2019

R54: Tyler Posey is Teen Wolf actor. I think you are thinking in Tyler Oakley (as far as i know he is not trying to be an actor which is understable because he makes a lot of money as youtuber)

by Anonymousreply 5501/18/2019

No R54 Tyler Posey is an actor who has been acting since he was a child and who recently starred in Teen Wolf and a played a bisexual character on Jane The Virgin.

by Anonymousreply 5601/18/2019

R54 as does the name "Tyler."

by Anonymousreply 5701/18/2019

It's really "Araki," not "Arakis," r53... the OP forgot the possessive's apostrophe.

by Anonymousreply 5801/18/2019

And the planet is Arrakis (at least in the novel i read)

by Anonymousreply 5901/19/2019
Araki would be described as homoflexible, or bi with a preference for men, or a fluid gay guy or however you want to describe it.

r42, sorry, but why are those who cry bi-erasure at the drop of a hat the same people who will twist all reality in order to avoid using the term? If a guy is sexually attracted to men and women then that man is bisexual, there's no need for a modifier. Also, there is no such thing as a 'fluid' gay man, the word you're looking for is bisexual.

by Anonymousreply 6001/19/2019

Well in his own words "I'd probably identify as gay now", but note that bisexual was literally one of the options in the post you quoted.

by Anonymousreply 6101/20/2019

All three of them were played by the catfishers r17

by Anonymousreply 6201/20/2019

Thanks, OP! I love Araki and I'm glad I saw the trailer b/c of your post. He uses the exact same score and even dialogue from his film Nowhere in the first 20 seconds and then some dialogue from The Living End mid way through. It's quintessential Araki - it could be interesting. His best work is when he keeps it semi-dark. I always like that his gay characters aren't so stereotypical.

by Anonymousreply 6301/20/2019

Gregg has only had one public relationship with a woman and that was 20 years ago. I'd call him gay with a phase.

by Anonymousreply 6401/20/2019

r64, is that what he says? I thought he was very outspoken about being bi.

by Anonymousreply 6501/21/2019

Personal life Araki has previously self-identified as "a gay Asian American".[25] Contrary to the statement, beginning in 1997 he had a relationship with actress Kathleen Robertson, that ended in 1999.[26][27][28] In a 2014 interview, Araki said that he "don’t really identify as anything", adding "[he] probably identify as gay at this point, but [he] have been with women".[29]

by Anonymousreply 6601/21/2019

r66, how he identifies is meaningless. A man who is into both men and women is bisexual.

by Anonymousreply 6701/23/2019
He directed a few episodes of Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" and one episode of "American Crime - Season 2" with DL fav Connor Jessup. And other TV stuff.

And a few episodes of Riverdale, starring DL fave KJ Apa.

He and James Duval were a couple, right?

by Anonymousreply 6801/23/2019

The show looks crazy as fuck. Can't wait.

Avan Jogia, Tyler Posey, and Beau Mirchoff had their dick shots (and jerk off clips) leaked. Except in Avan's case there is no credible face and dick pic or clip.

by Anonymousreply 6901/24/2019

Too weird for me

by Anonymousreply 7001/24/2019

LOOKING is not the standard for anything. nor is QAF. both of those shows are unwatchable. at least QAF had sexy nudity. tyler posey looks washed. i used to have crushes on avan and beau but pretty much over it now. Asians have issues with being gay so that explains the Araki stuff. Mysterious Skin is his only good work. that's because he didn't write it.

by Anonymousreply 7101/24/2019
Mysterious Skin is his only good work. that's because he didn't write it.

it's excellent, who wrote it?

by Anonymousreply 7201/24/2019

Mysterious skin is a Scott Heim's novel

by Anonymousreply 7301/24/2019

I don’t like Greg Aracki’s works or even him as a person tbh. His films seem like they want to be deep but end up having nothing to say. A lot of them have awful aesthetics. And I found the more mainstream he went the more gay sexuality became a subtext and not shown like with heterosexuals and lesbians. Or if shown was mostly followed by something negative like death or something. It pretty much started around the time he started dating a woman which could be an explanation. I found it weird how he identified as gay but was bisexual. Like what was the point? I read an interview he did and he didn’t understand why gay people would have a problem with him identifying as gay but dating women. He basically called gay people close minded for having a limited view on sexuality and that we shouldn’t judge because we know it feels to not be accepted. Going by the trailer the show doesn’t look like something I’m going to enjoy but imma give it a chance anyway I might like it.

by Anonymousreply 7401/24/2019

R74: The trailer is a mess

by Anonymousreply 7501/24/2019

R75 yeah it looks like any awful show airing today that is trying to be woke but have only a slight idea on what being woke means.

by Anonymousreply 7601/24/2019

Anyone know where this will air?

Is it on Starz?

by Anonymousreply 7701/27/2019

Starts March 10.

by Anonymousreply 7801/27/2019

I need free Starz

by Anonymousreply 7901/27/2019
Looking is still the standard for American gay series.
What??!! No one liked nor watched that shit. Queer As Folk is the standard, you dumb douche.

I loved Looking. QAF was only good the first year, and when Brian was naked.

by Anonymousreply 8001/27/2019

Looking was fine, except the 14 year old virgin of a main character.

by Anonymousreply 8101/27/2019

I’ll watch it, but why Stars?

by Anonymousreply 8201/27/2019
Like a lot of veteran filmmakers pivoting to TV, Greg Araki has trouble turning all of the wild pansexual science fiction ideas for his new Starz series NOW APOCALYPSE into episodes. But I enjoyed every colorful minute I’ve seen so far of this horny, horny comedy. #Sundance19

by Anonymousreply 8301/30/2019
Gregg Araki’s ‘Now Apocalypse’ makes ‘Nymphomaniac’ seem like ‘Mary Poppins Returns.’ #Sundance2019

by Anonymousreply 8401/30/2019
Happy to have broken my “No TV at Sundance” rule for Gregg Araki’s NOW APOCALYPSE, which features a butt-fucking lizard monster from outer space and made me laugh harder than I have in weeks.

by Anonymousreply 8501/30/2019

Apparently, people are saying this may be an adaptation of Nowhere. Which I remember liking, but I haven't seen it in probably twenty years since it was never released on DVD in US.

by Anonymousreply 8601/30/2019

It looks like a crazy mind fuck without drugs. I can only imagine how it looks while being high on drugs.

by Anonymousreply 8701/30/2019

Yeah I don't remember Nowhere that well, but there were aliens so makes sense people are comparing this to that r86.

by Anonymousreply 8801/30/2019

Was that the movie that ends with one of the guys turning into a giant roach?

by Anonymousreply 8901/30/2019

Yep r89.

by Anonymousreply 9001/30/2019

Yeah, Nathan Bexton's (WHET) character did after he and James Duval's character finally got together.

by Anonymousreply 9101/30/2019

Apparently, the entire movie is on YouTube. Maybe I'll watch it when I get a chance.

by Anonymousreply 9201/30/2019
Queer As Folk is the standard, you dumb douche.

LOL QAF is not a standard for gay series fangurl. Only in your diminutive imagination is QAF the standard for gay storytelling in a gay series.

Looking and Eyewitness are still the benchmark for gay storytelling in a gay American series.

by Anonymousreply 9301/30/2019

Well, I love Gregg Araki, and I can't wait for this. Nowhere is one of my favorites. I found a really decent quality bootleg DVD on eBay last year for less than 20 bucks. I'm sure that seller is still cranking them out if anyone is interested.

by Anonymousreply 9401/30/2019

R93 Looking had a 30 year old protagonist who was a 14 year old virgin at heart. Even prudes know what rimming and foreskin are.

by Anonymousreply 9501/30/2019

I don't think i've ever seen Avan's hair this short before.

by Anonymousreply 9602/06/2019
by Anonymousreply 9702/06/2019

Looking is a mature show made for mature people. It's no surprise gays with a Peter Pan syndrome couldn't sit through a show dealing with nuance and relationships. QAF USA is embarrassing to the highest degree.

Banana and Cucumber are two very funny modern day gays shows. I've just found out yesterday they'll revive the L word.

by Anonymousreply 9802/06/2019

What I love about Looking is that it had tridimensional characters. Patrick was annoying and someone I'd punch in the face, but he was so castrated by his mom he couldn't deal with anything. I loved this show. Too bad it was too adult for manchildren who can't hold a relationship with anyone who isn't "hot".

by Anonymousreply 9902/06/2019

R96 He looks better with long hair. I'm surprised because I usually like short hair on hot men.

by Anonymousreply 10002/06/2019
Looking and Eyewitness are still the benchmark for gay storytelling in a gay American series.

Isn't Eyewitness from Norway?

by Anonymousreply 10102/06/2019

R74 god he sounds like an insufferable twat. He is like that borderline pedo “I’m gay, but married to a woman who I fuck” Stephen daldry. Men like him are trash

by Anonymousreply 10202/06/2019

R98 Mature? I love the supporting characters, but the 30 year old protagonist clutched his pearls at the mention of foreskin and rimming. He was a child.

by Anonymousreply 10302/06/2019

Almost feels like fate

by Anonymousreply 10402/16/2019
by Anonymousreply 10502/16/2019
by Anonymousreply 10602/16/2019

Avan Jogia & Beau Mirchoff

by Anonymousreply 10702/26/2019

r107 Oof, that is a hot fucking kiss. Arakis must have had a special kissing choreographer on the set.

by Anonymousreply 10802/26/2019

I'll give them credit for the kiss. I'm seeing full tongue there. Most actors playing gay try to cheat it so they don't have to do that. I've also had a thing for Beau since Desperate Housewives and always hoped the Andrew character would seduce him at some point, so this is right up my alley.

I honestly think that the good thing about all these younger actors is that they really don't care as much about this kind of stuff. I think they're more open to doing nudity and sexual stuff on screen, which is great. I'm so sick of this country being so puritanical about our bodies and sex.

by Anonymousreply 10902/26/2019

The kiss is part of a fantasy sequence, Jogias character has an unrequited lust for Beau Mirchoff.

by Anonymousreply 11002/26/2019

R107 That kiss gives me high hopes for any Tyler Posey/Avan Jogia sex scenes

by Anonymousreply 11102/26/2019

r109 I have to say I don't see any tongue, but I like it because it's just so sensual. And is it just me or do Jogia's eyes roll up at the very end of the gif?

by Anonymousreply 11202/26/2019

Goodness that kiss shows promise.

by Anonymousreply 11302/26/2019
unrequited lust

Araki does this in all his movies. It has to be a personal trauma.

by Anonymousreply 11402/26/2019

I'd say a gay guy having some hopeless crush on a straight guy is a pretty universal experience for us r114.

by Anonymousreply 11502/26/2019

Gregg Araki cannot write a screenplay to save his life. The only good film he ever made was "Mysterious Skin" because it had an actual plot.

by Anonymousreply 11602/26/2019

R102 He’s a pedo? I don’t understand why it’s so hard to say bi. Treating being bi as some weird complex unexplainable thing doesn’t do it any favors. People like him and Aracki contribute to biphobia and erasure.

by Anonymousreply 11702/26/2019
Arakis must have had a special kissing choreographer on the set.

You obviously had no idea who Avan Jogia is.

by Anonymousreply 11802/26/2019

R117 Stephen is a notorious chicken hawk. Indeed one of the reasons he quickly got married to his fag hag (who he fucks, as he reminds us all) is other than a green card to work in the US, is because there were rumours surrounding his relationship with Jamie bell during billy elliot..... also the perfect aryan twink he cast as young prince Phillip in The Crown....

by Anonymousreply 12302/28/2019

Lol what are Avan and Posey wearing?

by Anonymousreply 12402/28/2019

They are just such woke queer icons. Omg. So stunning and brave uwu!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 12502/28/2019

Avan and Beau. Look how different they look here. It looks like Avan has his hair braided and tied up or in dreads. He looks Puerto Rican in this picture.

by Anonymousreply 12602/28/2019

R125 lol

by Anonymousreply 12702/28/2019

Isn't Araki the best thing that never happened?

by Anonymousreply 12802/28/2019

Tyler Posey had never kissed a guy before, really bitch?

by Anonymousreply 12903/02/2019

If you want to deep dive into the build interview on the show.
Tyler Posey had never kissed a guy before, really bitch?

O....k

by Anonymousreply 13103/03/2019

Heh, thanks r131. That's what I was thinking, I'm pretty sure I've seen Tyler Posey kiss a guy before.

by Anonymousreply 13203/03/2019

Avan is hot

by Anonymousreply 13303/03/2019
Tyler Posey had never kissed a guy before, really bitch?

This is going to come back to haunt him. He Was fucking his Tenn Wolf stunt double, I am pretty sure he has done more than kiss a boy.

by Anonymousreply 13403/03/2019
He Was fucking his Tenn Wolf stunt double

Really??

by Anonymousreply 13503/03/2019

The origin of that is a blind item r136.

by Anonymousreply 13603/04/2019

R136 Aren't they always??

by Anonymousreply 13703/04/2019

Gregg Araki....now THAT'S a name I haven't heard since before the internet.

by Anonymousreply 13803/04/2019

R134, stop lying dude

by Anonymousreply 13903/04/2019

Saw the first 3 episodes yesterday. Classic Araki, well cast. Plenty of eye candy, but more tits than butts. The boys do spend a lot of time in briefs though.

by Anonymousreply 14003/04/2019

R138 I wish that had stayed so.

But I think he will have some success now; queer/ fluid male sexuality is very du jour in 2019. He was a bit too alternative in his presentation of queer men to both straight and gay audiences in the 1990’s. Now teen girls love bi guys in their content and gays will take whatever scraps they can get. Hets are getting used to it too.

So even though this series is not in the least bit new for Gregg - indeed laughably so - I think it is the perfect timing for it in 2019.

I for one find him a one trick pony and for all his pretense of being a ‘queer cinema artiste 👩‍🎨 ‘, a bit of a hack.

by Anonymousreply 14103/04/2019

I'm looking forward to it but the reviews haven't been all that great, have they?

by Anonymousreply 14203/04/2019

I would be surprised if this got really great reviews, Arakis work has never had universal appeal*, it is an acquired taste.

*As said before, Mysterious Skin was an adaptation, not his brainchild.

by Anonymousreply 14303/04/2019

Does Beau at least show his hot little ass?

by Anonymousreply 14403/04/2019

I see. Well, now I'm even more excited to see which camp I'll fall into.

by Anonymousreply 14503/04/2019

Of the first 3 episodes, R144 one butt shot. But his body is on constant display.

by Anonymousreply 14603/04/2019

I really wish I hadn't seen Beau's jerkoff vids. I mean, he was great and all, but the insane attraction I used to feel towards him is well and truly gone because the mystery isn't there anymore. Jogia and Posey don't do much for me as they come across as thirsties in real life.

You just described more than half of the actors in Hollywood.
I really wish I hadn't seen Beau's jerkoff vids

Why? Is it small???

by Anonymousreply 14903/04/2019

It's certainly not big r149. But that posters point was about the "mystery being gone". That same phenomenon about how someone can be really into a person until they finally get to sleep with them, and boom after that the pull is gone. I'm sure psychologist have a name for that.

by Anonymousreply 15003/04/2019

" I'm sure psychologist have a name for that."

I may be wrong, but I believe it is "cognitive dissonance."

by Anonymousreply 15103/04/2019

I've seen his vids, watched the episodes, saw him at the Q&A yesterday, and I'd still fuck him.

And whoever told Avan to cut his hair should be punched in the face.

by Anonymousreply 15203/04/2019

R152 ew. Gregg looks like a lesbian in that picture.... is he transitioning into a transbian? That’s got to be he new cool thing for these professional queers.

by Anonymousreply 15303/04/2019

Or R153...he's just a dude...wearing a blouse. Not everything is trans, you psychos.

by Anonymousreply 15403/05/2019

by Anonymousreply 15603/09/2019

I'm really looking forward to this. STARZ has a free preview this weekend. If the show is any good I'll buy the channels.

by Anonymousreply 15703/09/2019

R157 let us know what you think??

by Anonymousreply 15803/09/2019

Tyler has already gone over to a mainstream series. I’m not expecting much.

by Anonymousreply 15903/09/2019

R159 I don't think they've announced The Lost Boys getting picked up.

by Anonymousreply 16003/09/2019
With a last name like Arakis he MUST play Paul Atreides in any upcoming Dune film , and he should legally be required to change all his social media handles to @KwisatzHaderach.

His name is actually Gregg ARAKI.

OP made a typo, it should have read: "Gregg Araki's "Now Apocalypse".

by Anonymousreply 16103/09/2019

I can see this show being as polarizing as all of of Araki's New Queer Cinema stuff. But I ended up really liking it. And not just because of all the gay stuff. I definitely see the elements of Nowhere, as Uly has a pretty strong resemblance to Duval's Dark.

Speaking of which, Duval has a short cameo, and if we see him again, I bet he is playing the same character.

And Avon Jorgia and Tyler Posey have excellent chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 16203/10/2019
Tyler has already gone over to a mainstream series. I’m not expecting much.

He's only listed as a guest star - at least in the first episode. But the way Netflix shots things he could do both shows if The Lost Boys gets picked up.

by Anonymousreply 16303/10/2019

What does Netflix have to do with anything? The Lost Boys is going to be on the CW.

by Anonymousreply 16403/10/2019

Also, Beau Mirchoff is built like a brick shithouse now, and there's a hot scene where Uly imagines kissing him.

by Anonymousreply 16503/10/2019
What does Netflix have to do with anything? The Lost Boys is going to be on the CW.

Meant Starz.

by Anonymousreply 16603/10/2019

I just started my 7 day free trial of Starz on Amazon Prime, though I doubt you have have to go through Bezos to do the free trial. Let's see what I think.

by Anonymousreply 16703/10/2019

I presume if any of the eye candy in the show actually has actual sex with another actual gay man they will instantly be killed or castrated, as always seems to happen to any gay man who has gay sex in any self loathing film self loather Greggy fuck face makes....

by Anonymousreply 16803/10/2019

Well, damn, I didn't enjoy the first episode at all. The acting is more than fine but it all just comes across as empty and cheaply made. I can't even comment on the tone or the theme of it because I couldn't discern either. I'll give it one more try because the cam girl intrigues me, but I probably won't finish the season.

by Anonymousreply 16903/10/2019
I presume if any of the eye candy in the show actually has actual sex with another actual gay man they will instantly be killed or castrated, as always seems to happen to any gay man who has gay sex in any self loathing film self loather Greggy fuck face makes....

The first scene has Uly fucking a guy and having to sneak out the window when the dude's husband comes home.

by Anonymousreply 17003/10/2019

"Do you identify as bisexual? I don’t really identify as anything, I guess. I have a male partner—we’ve been together for three years—but I don’t really identify. I’d probably identify as gay at this point, but I have been with women."

Another gay Millennial terrified of the word 'gay'.

by Anonymousreply 17103/10/2019

Did you just refer to Gregg Araki as a millennial?

by Anonymousreply 17203/10/2019

It's about what I expected. Kinda silly but enjoyable as long as you are willing to just go with it. It's good that it is just 30 minutes, this wouldn't work as an hour long affair. I'm happy to be along for the ride.

Outside of being the the nice eye candy for the gay viewers, I was surprised how charming I found Beau Mirchoff.
And Avon Jorgia and Tyler Posey have excellent chemistry.

See, this actually disappointed me. I didn't think they had great chemistry. I though Beau and Avan had better chemistry in that fantasy sequence.

by Anonymousreply 17303/10/2019

Araki ain't no millennial - although he does seem to suffer from some kind of arrested development and seems to still be chasing those ghosts of the mid-90s "queer" boy. He even "fluid" before it was cool and suffered the wrath of the gays in 1998 when he brought his new girlfriend to the opening of the last installment of his "queer" trilogy. Talk about awkward but not surprising to anyone who was paying any attention to the first two films - the male stars were all bisexual or straight and gay was not cool at all. The New York Post could barely restrain itself in mocking him and his next few films were horrible - they were all straight washed just like his pathetic attempt to date that actress. He finally redeemed himself when he lucked out and optioned the script for Mysterious Skin - gay was now OK and so was Greg again.

by Anonymousreply 17403/10/2019

If it sucks I hope at least it has good gay sex and male nudity.

by Anonymousreply 17503/10/2019

The first episode opens with some buttfucking, and Mirchoff's ripped bod is on constant display r175.

by Anonymousreply 17603/10/2019

The only good movie he ever made was Mysterious Skin and it was the one he didn't write - the script was adapted from a book so no weird aliens or other goofy magical realism...

by Anonymousreply 17703/10/2019

It was OK - same thing Araki always does...You would think he would have grown some over the last 25 years but no...As long as you don't take it seriously it can be entertaining...

by Anonymousreply 17803/10/2019

So far it's better than "Kaboom".

by Anonymousreply 17903/10/2019

First time Chris Z showed his cock in Kaboom so it wasn’t a total waste of time.

by Anonymousreply 18003/10/2019

So Araki didn't hire a single gay actor in this project right?

As the kids say, that seems problematic.

by Anonymousreply 18103/10/2019

Doom Generation is a great Gen X movie.

by Anonymousreply 18203/10/2019

The dialog is rather dated.

All the straight couples were the worst part of the show, and they were like 60% of the whole episode. Evan had great chemistry Posey and Mirchoff, and it's so sad that this show feels like such a wasted opportunity. A love triangle between Evan, Posey, and Mirchoff would have been incredible because there is real chemistry there.

by Anonymousreply 18303/10/2019

Very disappointed in it. Not sure what it's supposed to be about. I really had high hopes for this. Avan is adorable though.

by Anonymousreply 18403/10/2019

Tyler Posey is surprisingly hot and a better actor than half the people in this so... that's surprising.

by Anonymousreply 18503/10/2019

Evan was indeed adorable. Clearly the best actor of the bunch. It's too bad the episode lost all the momentum of the opening scene once the focused shifted to the straight couples.

Did anyone noticed that Evan had trouble topping his more physically robust scene partner? Eva has the body of a twink and should have been the one bottoming to the clearly taller and stronger actor he was supposedly fucking.

I thought Posey and Evan has mad chemistry in the alley scene. They kiss so well.

by Anonymousreply 18603/10/2019

had* kissed*

by Anonymousreply 18703/10/2019

Avan people, seeing "Evan" keeps confusing me.

by Anonymousreply 18803/10/2019

They tucked the bottom's penis in the opening scene so it wouldn't show on screen. That, or they were going for the FTM representation. Probably the latter, let's be real. And I can almost hear Bryan Fuller screaming at his TV: "That cock is NOT going into that hole! Angles, people, angles!"

I too was surprised at how competent Avan's acting was. Where the hell did he get them chops?

by Anonymousreply 18903/10/2019
Tyler Posey is surprisingly hot and a better actor than half the people in this so... that's surprising.

As terrible as he was when Teen Wolf started, he appeared to work with his acting coach really hard, and improved by leaps and bounds by the end of that show. I think he did pretty well playing bi on Jane the Virgin as well.

by Anonymousreply 19003/10/2019

Yes, Tyler Posey has openly talked about how bad he was at acting Season 1 at Teen Wolf. I still don't think he is great, but he has definitely gotten a lot better.

Reminds me of David Boreanaz, who was also a terrible actor Season 1 of Buffy but worked at it and got better.

by Anonymousreply 19103/10/2019

That era of casting heartthrobs who can't act from the get-go seems to be over, because there's so much backlash and derision on social media, you just don't want that associated with your show.

by Anonymousreply 19203/10/2019

So is it supposed to be on purpose than Jogia and Posey are "boyfriends thing"? I just can't imagine it is a coincidence they got someone that favors Avan, they are even rocking the same haircut.

by Anonymousreply 19303/10/2019

boyfriend twins*

by Anonymousreply 19403/10/2019

I feel young again. It's 1991!

by Anonymousreply 19503/10/2019

r193 They might be exploring the twinning phenomenon, what with the cosmic explosion when they both came.

There's so much hair stuff going on in this one shot. For someone who's really into hair, I too would cum in a cosmic manner if these two were both working my cock at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 19603/10/2019

Boys keep swinging! Avan's cock in action.

btw, he's dating a woman, some C-List actress and she ain't too pretty.

by Anonymousreply 19703/10/2019

The American Gods and the Now Apocalypse cast tweeting during the premiere.

by Anonymousreply 19803/10/2019

When did Beau Mirchoff get so brawny?

by Anonymousreply 19903/10/2019

For this role r199.

by Anonymousreply 20003/10/2019

Avan's got endless photos of his odd looking GF all over his IG. He tries way too hard. I've always assume he was gay or bi.

He's way too good looking be with such a meh woman. What's with these hot men and plain partners?

His GF was on Jay Pharoah's short-lived Showtime series WHITE FAMOUS, she wasn't much of an actress. She's biracial.

by Anonymousreply 20103/10/2019

Really? I had seem pictures of him in something else where he looked pretty bloated, but he's currently in competition with DL Icon Cody Christian in terms of being jacked.

by Anonymousreply 20203/10/2019

I remember Avan being with Zoey Deutch for a long time. I even thought they were engaged at one point.

by Anonymousreply 20303/10/2019
I remember Avan being with Zoey Deutch for a long time. I even thought they were engaged at one point.

They are long over. His new GF looks like a blowfish. Her name is Cleopatra Coleman. She's Australian.

Avan is really hot, but he comes across like a hipster asshole. He's got photos of Nina Hagen and Lena Lovich at his IG, does he even know who they are?

by Anonymousreply 20403/10/2019

His 'tribute' to Magritte. What a pretentious poser.

by Anonymousreply 20503/10/2019

Rather enjoyed the first episode, felt very 90’s in a way, odd and funny. I always loved “The Living End”, so I’m used to Araki’s style. The lead is very cute, and Beau Mirchoff is gorgeous, so it’s worth it for that alone. More gay action than I had expected, a nice surprise.

by Anonymousreply 20603/10/2019

So what I'm getting is the show isn't great but it isn't terrible either.

by Anonymousreply 20703/10/2019

R207 No, the show is total shite, BUT it stars actors the thirsty sluts here want to rim

by Anonymousreply 20803/10/2019

R208 gotcha!

Guess i'm the only one who doesn't mind Avan's new do.

by Anonymousreply 21203/11/2019

I'm going to give it a few more episodes before passing judgment.

by Anonymousreply 21303/11/2019

They should have released the first two episodes on the same night, as there just wasn't much meat on that first one to leave a proper impression.

by Anonymousreply 21403/11/2019

Two guys kiss and the universe implodes, and then one of them discovers that alien lizard people are fucking homeless guys... that seems like a lot to me!

by Anonymousreply 21503/11/2019
and then one of them discovers that alien lizard people are fucking homeless guys

by Anonymousreply 21603/11/2019

r215 You'd think that judging by that description, wouldn't you? But the characterisation - whatever little we got of it - felt so hollow and dated. That's what I was referring to by "not having much meat on it". And even the actual meat we should have seen was safely tucked away, as demonstrated in r189.

This show feels like something I'd go completely nuts over before Peak TV happened.

by Anonymousreply 21703/11/2019

To me the first episode did what it was supposed to. We got introduced to our main characters, the vibe of the show was established, and it ended with the alien tease.

I mean it is basically the lives of a bunch of oversexed 20-somethings trying to make it in LA, thrown in with a bit of the Araki style surrealism with aliens.

by Anonymousreply 21803/11/2019

The first episode can do what it's supposed to (talk about a low bar), or it can do more. I was just expecting to see him push himself creatively, that's all. Like someone upthread said, he's got his established schtick and you either like it or you don't. Guess it's just not my thing after all. I love fantastical elements in general, but they're not done that well here; they come across as comical and cheap, while I prefer the subtler, unnerving ones.

I'd be more prepared to cheer this show on if it had an openly gay actor in the cast. Right now, I'm being asked to lust over straight guys and yet again applaud them for their courage because they kissed another man. I'll sure be glad when that stops being a thing.

by Anonymousreply 21903/11/2019
Right now, I'm being asked to lust over straight guys and yet again applaud them for their courage because they kissed another man. I'll sure be glad when that stops being a thing.

I think we've got a long way to go in that department.

by Anonymousreply 22003/11/2019

R219, I’m cool with it

by Anonymousreply 22103/11/2019

Sure, there was eye candy but plot-wise, the first episode was underwhelming and disappointing.

by Anonymousreply 22203/11/2019

I don't disagree r219, you'd think Araki would care about using his platform to hire some gay actors.

by Anonymousreply 22303/11/2019

They’re literally catering to millennials. Young people and gays... it’s like they’re giving us what we want.

by Anonymousreply 22403/11/2019
by Anonymousreply 22503/11/2019
by Anonymousreply 22603/11/2019

R223 Why? He has clearly demonstrated for decades he is a self loathing homo, fuck he can hardly bring himself to even say the word

by Anonymousreply 22703/11/2019

I'm fine with straight actors playing gay but would it have killed him to hire one openly gay actor?

by Anonymousreply 22803/11/2019

I love that asking for a quick handjob on your first date doesn't ruin a magical moment.

by Anonymousreply 22903/11/2019

... but asking for rimjob does.

by Anonymousreply 23003/11/2019

Sorry, asking for A rimjob does.

by Anonymousreply 23103/11/2019

I get a bit of a Mullholland Drive (David Lynch) vibe from the straight roommate's plot.

by Anonymousreply 23203/11/2019
e's got his established schtick and you either like it or you don't. Guess it's just not my thing after all. I love fantastical elements in general, but they're not done that well here; they come across as comical and cheap, while I prefer the subtler, unnerving ones.

"Comical and cheap" is the Araki Brand, so yeah, I'd say he's just not your thing then. I usually prefer the latter too but Araki as far as I'm concerned gets to do whatever he wants to at this point. The whole black-light poster come to life thing is the point. I don't smoke weed but this show makes me feel like I did.

by Anonymousreply 23303/11/2019

I love Araki's movies. They are camp student films. Low budget feel, but colorful, fun and trippy.

by Anonymousreply 23403/11/2019
His GF was on Jay Pharoah's short-lived Showtime series WHITE FAMOUS, she wasn't much of an actress. [bold]She's biracial.[/bold]

Because, relevance.

by Anonymousreply 23503/11/2019

r227 No one wants to hear that - Araki plays the victim well (he turned the understandable shock and dismay to his arrival at Sundance with his new girlfriend in 98 into a "gays are intolerant of the wonders of pussy" meme and his work has always privileged heterosexuality over homosexuality) and has managed to cultivate a following among straight hipsters on the film festival circuit, who always sing his praises. Most gay people have never heard of him or can't stand him....

by Anonymousreply 23603/11/2019
Because, relevance.

Huh? She's biracial, not black not white. Biracial people have to realize they aren't just once race. That's my point. Got that? Wow, so many fucking snowflakes these days. That's how that douchebag moronic POS Trump became president.

Too many biracial people call themselves one or the other, it's usually dependent how they look. I'm biracial. I never say I'm black because I know I'm not 100% black. Most people assume I'm South Asian (Pakistani or Indian) or Hispanic.

There was also a rumour that Avan's biracial GF was actually trans. She has manly hands and huge manly feet. Whatever she is, she surely isn't very attractive. Her parents look like hillbillies.

by Anonymousreply 23703/11/2019

Wonder why he broke up with Zoe??

by Anonymousreply 23803/11/2019

R238 Do you think, maybe, it was because he is a fucking homo?

by Anonymousreply 23903/11/2019

You got issues r239.

by Anonymousreply 24003/11/2019

R240 I think you mean self loathing closeted gay man has the issues

by Anonymousreply 24103/11/2019

There is no world in which American version of Queer as Folk is the standard of anything R29 you fucking moron.

by Anonymousreply 24203/11/2019
There is no world in which American version of Queer as Folk is the standard of anything [R29] you fucking moron.

I agree, Neither is this show a standard about gay, straight and bi young people. Jeez, you do have to what is wrong with people these days? No one thinks any more.

This is Araki's personal vision of a very specific group of LA stoners and hipsters who are trying to break into showbiz. I have no idea what Avan's character wants to be, so far he's into hooking up, getting stoned, riding his bike and hallucinating. His roommate wants to write scripts and the blond chick is a sex cam 'actress'.

I was half paying attention, if it was revealed what Avan's character's career goal was, I missed it.

by Anonymousreply 24303/11/2019

WONDER what is wrong....

by Anonymousreply 24403/11/2019

Avan is not 100% South Asian.

Avan was born in Canada. His father is a British Indian, and his mother is of English and German descent. His older brother Ketan, is a music producer in London. He left school at 17. Avan speaks Gujarati and French.

by Anonymousreply 24503/11/2019

Different people have different standards, and of course DLers use that as an excuse for a dick measuring contest. Or at least pretending to be able to measure their micro penises. Like, really. Instead of appreciating the show it's about comparisons and "my taste is better then your taste, you fucking loser!".

by Anonymousreply 24603/12/2019

Sorry, "my taste is better THAN your taste, you fucking loser!".

by Anonymousreply 24703/12/2019

What is a British Indian? An Indian born in Britain? Being born in Britain doesn’t change he’s Indian.

by Anonymousreply 24803/12/2019

Avan is my next husband.

I don't know if it's some foreshadowing thing, but Avan doesn't look at Tyler for a few lines after giving each other a handjob. It's almost looks like Avan is reading his lines from cue cards.

Beau is GORGEOUS. Not only a handsome face but BEAUTIFUL body.

by Anonymousreply 26203/12/2019

Song from the Kaboom trailer at @ r179 if anyone is interested. Gregg Araki films usually have pretty good music.

by Anonymousreply 26303/12/2019

Which also makes it sexier is how much fun Beau seems be having playing the eye candy.
What is a British Indian? An Indian born in Britain? Being born in Britain doesn’t change he’s Indian.

Are you fucking serious? It's the same as Italian-American, German-American etc, don't be a fucking douche.

Avan's grandparents on his father's side were born in India, his father was born in England. Which make this dad a British-Indian, like Riz Ahmed is a British-Pakistani, Riz was born in London.

Model Giselle Bunchen was born in Brazil, but her parents are of German descent, which makes her a Brazilian-German.

Avan and his mom.

by Anonymousreply 26603/12/2019

With his father.

by Anonymousreply 26703/12/2019

I like the show.

Typical Araki stuff, with the realities and foibles of Millennial tech to update it.

Nice to see Gregg Araki still Gregg Araki'ing.

by Anonymousreply 26803/12/2019

R261 that's what gifs were made for.

by Anonymousreply 26903/13/2019

Beau is definitely loving his role as the shows eye candy.

by Anonymousreply 27003/13/2019

So did Araki throw in Rachel True again to avoid his lack of diversity standard?

by Anonymousreply 27103/13/2019

Tyler Posey isn’t white.

by Anonymousreply 27203/13/2019
So did Araki throw in Rachel True again to avoid his lack of diversity standard?

What are you going on about when the lead character isn't white? Avan Jogia is very visibly a "person a color"

by Anonymousreply 27303/13/2019

Beau's jerk off with cumshot compilation vids for the win.

by Anonymousreply 27403/13/2019

I just can’t with Posey’s uneven jawline.

by Anonymousreply 27503/13/2019

Expected responses R272 and R273.

Nothing “Durr “ about that. People love to label anyone white these days.

I find it a little funny that some people can't tell. And his character in Teen Wolf wasn't white either, but that shit's also caused countless arguments lol

by Anonymousreply 27803/13/2019

R278 people are dumb. Someone that works at my job has VERY TANNED skin and while his hair isn’t “black” hair, it’s not white hair either. It’s corse but straight.

He also has a wide nose etc. mixed looking.

But to many, he’s “white”

by Anonymousreply 27903/13/2019

I believe Tyler's mother was Hispanic.

by Anonymousreply 28003/13/2019

Yes, Tyler Posey had a mexican mom and a white father.

Teen Wolf tried to portray the same thing, his mother's character being Melissa Delgado and his father being white.

by Anonymousreply 28103/13/2019

R281 apparently that wasn't good enough for some Teen Wolf fans. Scott should've been speaking Spanish and eating burritos every night lol

by Anonymousreply 28203/14/2019

Tyler: “Me and Avan have some pretty intense hookup scenes,” he shared. “More intense than anything I’ve ever done straight on camera, and it was a breeze.”

“It was so much fun on set. I had the greatest time. The director, Greg [Araki], made it so easy and comfortable on set. It was just great, I had the greatest time filming it.”

Clearly living the dream lol
Tyler: “Me and Avan have some pretty intense hookup scenes,” he shared. “More intense than anything I’ve ever done straight on camera, and it was a breeze.”

Reminds me of Ian McShane's comments of American Gods featuring very explicit gay sex (which turned out to be an overly produced CGI scene). Both Now Acopalypse and American Gods are on Starz.

Never ever oversell. It will only drive expectations high and end up disappointing the viewers.

by Anonymousreply 285Last Saturday at 2:50 AM
Reminds me of Ian McShane's comments of American Gods featuring very explicit gay sex (which turned out to be an overly produced CGI scene).

No it wasn't.

by Anonymousreply 286Last Saturday at 3:17 AM

r286 are you claiming there wasn't CGI involved?

by Anonymousreply 287Last Saturday at 3:20 AM

There was CGI in the background, but the actors themselves weren't CGI.

by Anonymousreply 288Last Saturday at 3:20 AM

r288, not true.
They were thrown transformed to another realm by CGI where they continued having sex
Once in the CGI realm, the pair became grey silhouettes of themselves but the fire in Kraish's character's eyes remained

by Anonymousreply 289Last Saturday at 3:29 AM

None of my tricks catch on fire like that.

by Anonymousreply 290Last Saturday at 3:29 AM
Never ever oversell. It will only drive expectations high and end up disappointing the viewers.

Exactly

by Anonymousreply 291Last Saturday at 3:53 AM

It’s not very good. The characters are terrible. The boys are very cute but there are so many problems that I wouldn’t even know where to start.. James Duval is straight btw. I will keep watching as, well I always watch shows with gay characters mostly. Although I stopped watching g teen wolf as became terrible. My favourite recent gay shows were pose and a very British scandal. I need more!

by Anonymousreply 292Last Saturday at 4:24 AM
James Duval is straight btw

Is his orientation Straight + Araki? Because I can't believe they weren't fucking.

by Anonymousreply 293Last Saturday at 10:43 AM
Although I stopped watching g teen wolf as became terrible.

Lol became?? Just stick to the shirtless scenes and it's all good. Otherwise you'll get a headache trying to keep up with the "mythology" of the show.

by Anonymousreply 294Last Saturday at 1:55 PM

R294, teh whole "Became terrible" thing was the moment they stopped featuring shirtless scenes every episode, no longer had locker-room scenes, … you know, eliminated the primary reason for watching it, because someone want it to be taken "seriously" or something.

by Anonymousreply 295Last Saturday at 4:26 PM

The show just lost its sense of fun. The first couple seasons were a fun guilty pleasure, but yes it started taking itself way too seriously.

by Anonymousreply 296Last Saturday at 4:28 PM

Avan's short hair is terrible and the multi-colors make it even more of a travesty.

by Anonymousreply 297Last Saturday at 5:18 PM

R295 i don't think it helped that one of the actors talked about the shirtless scenes being pointless/ridiculous. I mean, he's not wrong lol. But fandom used it as another excuse to shit on the show, the actresses and JD.

R296 agreed. I know it's not a popular opinion but it went downhill after season 2/moved to LA.

by Anonymousreply 298Last Saturday at 5:56 PM

R298, I enjoyed the episodes in season three with Stiles not being able to sleep or read... but it went downhill soon after. There were like three really good, effective, creepy episodes. I had high hopes, and then... bleh.

by Anonymousreply 299Last Saturday at 7:50 PM

Have the ‘gay’ characters had an epiphany and tried the wonders of snatch yet? You know Gregg won’t not put that in at some stage.

by Anonymousreply 300Last Saturday at 7:56 PM

Yes, Dylan O'Brien carried 3B even when the writing let them down.

Looks like the 2nd episode is up, so I guess I am doing it.

by Anonymousreply 301Last Saturday at 9:35 PM

Alright, there is just an episode of Miami Vice instead under Now Apocalypse. Why are you doing this to me? I thought I was too drunk, but twitter shows me over people have gone through the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 302Last Saturday at 9:47 PM

Just leaving this here before I go to bed, what the hell Starz.

by Anonymousreply 303Last Saturday at 10:03 PM

I thought it aired on Sundays.

by Anonymousreply 304Last Saturday at 10:29 PM
I enjoyed the episodes in season three with Stiles not being able to sleep or read... but it went downhill soon after.
Yes, Dylan O'Brien carried 3B even when the writing let them down.

Eh I thought 3B was overrated. It was worse than 3A.

by Anonymousreply 305Last Sunday at 1:21 AM

Too bad Kaboom didn't give us the obvious payoff scene: the one where Smith informs Thor that, as Prince of the new world, he orders Thor to service his royal hole with Thor's monster dick until further notice.

by Anonymousreply 306Last Sunday at 1:31 AM

If you have the Starz app the second episode is available.

by Anonymousreply 307Last Sunday at 1:47 AM

The Starz channel (on Amazon Prime at least) is still showing Miami Vice.

by Anonymousreply 308Last Sunday at 7:16 AM

I've seen the second episode.

I'm actually enjoying Avan Jogia's character/storyline but I really don't care about the blonde cam girl and her relationship drama that took up half the fucking episode.

by Anonymousreply 309Last Sunday at 12:42 PM

I only care about the cam girl because her dim boyfriend is hot. I can do without the weirdness that is Beau's storyline with his scientist girlfriend but at least we were treated to his ass and bulge in this episode.

by Anonymousreply 310Last Sunday at 12:44 PM

The "scientist girlfriend" is the worst part... she's utterly unconvincing and there's nothing grounded in any sort of reality there... you have to start from some grounding to go into the weird stuff, and this is just shitty 'hot girl scientists' tropes from bad porn. It really takes me out of the show.

by Anonymousreply 311Last Sunday at 12:57 PM

I'm still waiting to be able to watch it. Amazon finally fixed the Miami Vice mistake, but now it just says content unavailable.

by Anonymousreply 312Last Sunday at 1:06 PM
he "scientist girlfriend" is the worst part... she's utterly unconvincing and there's nothing grounded in any sort of reality there

In some interview Araki said the character was inspired by Joseph Gordon Levitt's wife who is a successful robotics engineer.

by Anonymousreply 313Last Sunday at 1:15 PM

The scientist girlfriend is going to be one of those reptilian things isn't she?

by Anonymousreply 314Last Sunday at 1:46 PM

this show has Araki's mark all over it...so reminiscent of Nowhere and Doom Generation: hot dirty looking guys, casual sex, aliens and the lighting scheme. I'm enjoying it. Agree with the posters above: the str8 roomie and his girls freind are blah, but I do like the relationship between Avan and the Cam girl bestie (and their storylines).

by Anonymousreply 315Last Sunday at 3:56 PM

I thought they were setting up Ford for some kind of Bryan Singer situation.

by Anonymousreply 316Last Sunday at 4:14 PM

I think they are. While Ford was on the phone with his girlfriend? Otto told Barnabas Ford had a tight ass and wanted to bend him over a bench.

by Anonymousreply 317Last Sunday at 4:23 PM

I wonder if they were specifically going for Singer, but given the pool party setting, it just seemed obvious.

I will say I find Uly being stuck on Gabriel oddly relatable. Seeing the "composing message" ellipsis and then have it vanish is agonizing.

by Anonymousreply 318Last Sunday at 4:47 PM

Scientist girl is the worst actress.

LOVE hot roommate guy though.

by Anonymousreply 319Last Sunday at 5:03 PM

Seriously, the "scientist" girlfriend is just the worst. He line-readings couldn't be more flat and stilted. Painful.

by Anonymousreply 320Last Sunday at 5:19 PM

I kinda love all the scenes the lead is in.

And lose interest in most of the other scenes.

by Anonymousreply 321Last Sunday at 5:30 PM

Episode 2 seemed like Arakis playing with his actor dolls making them have all have sex.

by Anonymousreply 322Last Sunday at 5:33 PM

We aren't even at the sex episode yet r322, I think that is episode 8 where they are doing a whole episode of sex.

by Anonymousreply 323Last Sunday at 5:34 PM

R322 He knows the gay sex is the only vaguely interesting thing about his work.

by Anonymousreply 324Last Sunday at 5:34 PM

Where are the pics of Beau's hairy ass??

by Anonymousreply 325Last Sunday at 8:41 PM

Props to Beau, its not often you see ass hair make it into a TV sex scene.

by Anonymousreply 326Last Monday at 2:37 AM

If this show is mostly about sex, why not simply watch porn?

Avan is hot, with a big dick, but I had no idea what a terrible actor he was. Just horrible, almost as bad as the scientist GF.

If Avan wasn't so attractive, he wouldn't have a career.

by Anonymousreply 327Last Monday at 2:56 AM
If Avan wasn't so attractive, he wouldn't have a career.

Say hello to half of Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 328Last Monday at 4:01 AM

Not really R328, Avan's acting is really BAD! I'm sure his big dick got him hired for many roles.

There are tons of attractive actors and actresses who can actually act. Avan is terrible.

by Anonymousreply 329Last Monday at 5:04 AM
Seriously, the "scientist" girlfriend is just the worst. Her line-readings couldn't be more flat and stilted. Painful.

Actually, in the first episode when I first saw her in her office setting, I thought she was playing a bad actress playing a scientist.

by Anonymousreply 330Last Monday at 5:06 AM

Perfect hairy ass

by Anonymousreply 331Last Monday at 6:59 AM

R331 you were not exaggerating lol

by Anonymousreply 332Last Monday at 11:37 AM

Damn! Beau's ass is hot! So glad he doesn't shave or wax it.

by Anonymousreply 333Last Monday at 12:38 PM

I'll admit Beau is, well, beau, but fucking hell this has to be the worst television programme of all time. It's so bad.

SO bad.

by Anonymousreply 334Last Monday at 12:45 PM

R334 = Ryan Murphy

by Anonymousreply 335Last Monday at 1:09 PM

Watched it. Terrible.

And I prefer a smooth ass, so beau’s doesn’t do jack for me 🤷‍♀️

by Anonymousreply 336Last Monday at 1:13 PM

Araki's work is so overrated.

Now everyone'n doing shock value. He's lost in the crowd now.

by Anonymousreply 337Last Monday at 1:18 PM

Amazon finally got their shit together and so I could watch the episode today. Overall I thought this flowed smoother than the pilot, there was more of a sense of a plot.
I think they are. While Ford was on the phone with his girlfriend? Otto told Barnabas Ford had a tight ass and wanted to bend him over a bench.

I didn't catch that so thanks, but even without that it is super obvious that Barnabas and Otto just are humoring him because their goal is to get into his pants.
I wonder if they were specifically going for Singer, but given the pool party setting, it just seemed obvious.

Of course pool parties at common in LA, but still my mind went to the them making allusions to the Singer crowd.
Seriously, the "scientist" girlfriend is just the worst. He line-readings couldn't be more flat and stilted. Painful.

Yes, the rest of their cast can hold their own, but whenever she has a lot of dialog it feels like I am watching an amateur film and takes me out of the show. I'm fine with some emotionless hot scientist character in theory, but she is just not at the level of the rest of the cast and the show suffers as a result.
Seeing the "composing message" ellipsis and then have it vanish is agonizing.

Yeah, that was a great little moment.

I was even entertained in the scenes with the cam girl and her boyfriend and that doesn't have Beau beefcake or gay content, so I think overall the show is growing up. I just really hope the girl playing Severine gets better as the season goes on.

by Anonymousreply 338Last Monday at 3:34 PM

growing on me*

by Anonymousreply 339Last Monday at 3:35 PM

R331, he needs to wax that shit. Harry asses are nasty.

by Anonymousreply 340Last Monday at 4:13 PM

Beau's bod is unreal; 100% hairy beef. You just shut your lying mouth, r340.

Having said that, I'm with r334. This show shouldn't be on TV in 2019. Every aspect of it is so stilted and dated, it just makes me feel embarrassed for Araki.

by Anonymousreply 341Last Monday at 4:52 PM

R340 Truth - he should wax his hole as well.

by Anonymousreply 342Last Monday at 5:48 PM

We're not going to solve this age-old conflict in this thread, boys.

Having said that, he should stop shaving and trimming altogether.

by Anonymousreply 343Last Monday at 6:02 PM

Does this last more than one season?

by Anonymousreply 344Last Monday at 6:23 PM

Yes. Already renewed.

by Anonymousreply 345Last Monday at 6:24 PM

It's obviously made for peanuts so a second season was a no-brainer. Beyond that, we'll see.

by Anonymousreply 346Last Monday at 6:27 PM

I love Gregg Araki’s old stuff but this show is... bad. Really bad.

by Anonymousreply 347Last Monday at 6:28 PM

The show seems to be a big hit with Millennials and Gen Z already.

by Anonymousreply 348Last Monday at 6:30 PM

I still believe there is something Mulholland Drive going on with Beau's character story. Like, in the end we find out that the show is just some drug induced dream of Ford trying to cope with the fact that his life in LA didn't work out for him at all and he became jaded and bitter and a total junkie who killed his best friend and roommate Ulysses when Ulysses caught him stealing his stuff to buy himself drugs.

by Anonymousreply 349Last Monday at 6:34 PM

R348 They should watch Looking instead, which was actually about sexual intimacy and relationships between gay men, not just an apocalyptic porn.

by Anonymousreply 350Last Monday at 6:42 PM

R350 Araki doesn't know how to do anything that isn't at least somewhat porn.

by Anonymousreply 351Last Monday at 6:52 PM

Do they show cock in this show? Or only boobs?

by Anonymousreply 352Last Monday at 7:37 PM
Every aspect of it is so stilted and dated, it just makes me feel embarrassed for Araki.

Almost every Araki film is that way (I feel Mysterious Skin is the exception). It's his brand but it holds a certain charm. Charm = hot guys.

by Anonymousreply 353Last Monday at 7:44 PM

Not many shows in the US even on STARZ, HBO or Showtime show cock R352

by Anonymousreply 354Last Monday at 7:45 PM

R350 BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

by Anonymousreply 355Last Monday at 8:25 PM

Who is the guy in OP’s pic? Is that supposed to be Tyler Perry? It looks nothing like him.

by Anonymousreply 356Last Monday at 8:36 PM

It's not only supposed to be Tyler Posey, R356, IT IS!

by Anonymousreply 357Last Monday at 8:45 PM

That looks nothing like him in the face.

by Anonymousreply 358Last Monday at 8:46 PM

Well, to be honest, it does look absolutely nothing like Tyler Perry.

But it's totally Tyler Posey.

by Anonymousreply 359Last Monday at 8:47 PM

Posey lost weight and it makes him look older. I'm sure the smoking doesn't help either.

by Anonymousreply 360Last Monday at 9:58 PM

Once again, the "Kinsey 4" (lmao) lead is sexless while all of his straight friends are having sex. The gay sex are either interrupted, handjob (whie clothed) or baited. And honestly we don't need another guy falling for a straight roommate.

All these things along with the Kinsey makes me think this is actually meant to be shown in 2010. This is fucking cliched and outdated, did the writers even think before writing this?

by Anonymousreply 361Last Monday at 11:51 PM

r348 It's not.

by Anonymousreply 362Last Monday at 11:55 PM

R361 what do you expect? Written by an obnoxious gay/bi/queer/gay/queer retard and some millennial ‘bi’ woman who has only had serious relationships with men (including her now current long term bf).

Good gay content is never going to come from these loosers. They are too far up their own arse, and buy too much into queer theory for anything so ‘basic’.

by Anonymousreply 363Last Tuesday at 12:08 AM

Is the Kinsey scale a dated concept now?

by Anonymousreply 364Last Tuesday at 12:33 AM
The gay sex are either interrupted, handjob (whie clothed) or baited. And honestly we don't need another guy falling for a straight roommate.

It's all about the DRAMA! Fictional people without issues deal with a fucked up situation in a less drama way than a fictional person struggles with emotional conflicts and issues. But of course, don't let that get in the way of the anti queer troll.

And loosers? Really? Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 365Last Tuesday at 1:14 AM

Sorry, a fictional person who struggles with ..

by Anonymousreply 366Last Tuesday at 1:15 AM

r364 yea only oldies use that nowadays

by Anonymousreply 367Last Tuesday at 2:22 AM

Has there been any kind of suggestion of plot yet?

by Anonymousreply 368Last Tuesday at 2:25 AM

Possibly one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Why was this dreck even allowed to air?

by Anonymousreply 369Last Tuesday at 4:24 AM

Yeah...this show is very Araki--shallow, dated and utterly brainless--so I get why DL loves it. Tyler and Avan look like brothers--OF COURSE--almost interchangeable. The ONLY redeeming think about it is the lead's BF who is CLEARLY above this material. Hopefully, she'll get something of this.

Also, Mirchoff is proof that you CANNOT determine penis size when it's flaccid. He had a nubbin in those trunks, but if you've seen his JO video, that just ain't the case and his body is FUCKING ridiculous. I wanted to lick my screen!

by Anonymousreply 370Last Tuesday at 4:31 AM

You can NOT have a queer show without a transgender woman of color.

by Anonymousreply 371Last Tuesday at 4:40 AM

Araki is too pretentious for me.

by Anonymousreply 372Last Tuesday at 5:08 AM

I hope that will be true but there are no official sources saying that r345, it just comes from questionable blogs.

by Anonymousreply 373Last Tuesday at 6:40 AM

r370 Just to clarify, his bulge on the show is clearly the result of (generous) padding, because his actual hard dick is an average size.

And yes, his body is unreal. His chest alone seems like it just goes on and on forever.

by Anonymousreply 374Last Tuesday at 6:56 AM

A bulge is largely about ball size, Beau has nice testes.

by Anonymousreply 375Last Tuesday at 7:03 AM

No, you can clearly see what's supposed to be his dick in those briefs and it makes me laugh because I know that ridiculous girth isn't his own.

by Anonymousreply 376Last Tuesday at 7:09 AM

I go to Greg for that nostalgic mid 90s teenage feeling. Not so much for the sex scenes. Which are hit and miss.

by Anonymousreply 377Last Tuesday at 7:24 AM

It's sexually graphic which is quite rare these days. All the other shows I watch do that "making out / starting to take of their clothes, cut to the aftermath where they get out of bed in their underwear or wrap the blanket around their bodies".

by Anonymousreply 378Last Tuesday at 9:12 AM

R365 oh bugger off. Where is the same ‘drama’ for the straight sex scenes then? You are either Gregg or the co writer defending this both dumb and boring shitshow.

Not really offended at being called ‘antiqueer’, as most ‘queers’ are anti gay so they can fuck right off.

by Anonymousreply 379Last Tuesday at 11:21 AM

Everyone on this thread has watched MUCH worse for the eye candy

by Anonymousreply 380Last Tuesday at 11:55 AM

I enjoy it very much.

by Anonymousreply 381Last Tuesday at 11:56 AM

The Thread to Hate on "Now Apocalypse" After Its Premiere

by Anonymousreply 382Last Tuesday at 1:46 PM

I’m confused. Is the show an ensemble cast or is Ulysses the main character? He opens and close the first two episodes but besides that he barely gets any screen time compared to the straight characters.

by Anonymousreply 383Last Tuesday at 3:30 PM

And on the basis of the straight characters, why do they get more sex scenes than Ulysses and why are they prolonged and way more explicit? We know Ulysses is not a prude because the pilot opens with him fucking some other guy’s husband and he and Tyler (forgot the characters name) hooked up on the first date. I just find it strange how the show is supposed to focus on Ulysses and his relationship with Tyler was heavily if not the most prominent promoted by the show but it barely focuses on them. It skips the gay content and focuses on the straight one.

by Anonymousreply 384Last Tuesday at 3:41 PM

I don’t know if it’s the studio or Aracki himself doing this but if your not going to focus on Ulysses and his gay (even though he’s technically bi) content then why make his the main character. Why is the only queer male represented on the show treated like a side character? Is it because he’s gay leaning? Will the show put more focus on him if he gets with a woman? Why does Aracki treat his gay characters like shit? I feel like he puts them in his films just to have something bad happen to them compared to the other characters?

by Anonymousreply 385Last Tuesday at 3:48 PM

I'm watching for Beau. Beau in short shorts. Beau in underwear. Beau nude. Beau Beau Beau.

by Anonymousreply 386Last Tuesday at 3:54 PM

It sucks that Ulysses doesn’t get much screen time because he’s got the most interesting storyline and the most captivating character. Who honestly cares about cam girl and writer dude? Most of you guys talk about Beau because you find him hot. Y’all barely talk about his storylines unless it’s to mention how bad an actress the girlfriend is and can girl is barely mentioned. On the subject of beau’s storyline why is the only other queer men shown predators? Not saying there can’t be gay predators on the show but to see the way the other queer male’s treated their inclusion is very suspect.

by Anonymousreply 387Last Tuesday at 4:04 PM

Doesn’t Ulysses have any other friends or acquaintances besides those two straight characters? Why is the show bringing in more relationships for the two straight characters while Ulysses is stuck with them. They have a life outside of Ulysses while his is focused around them. Who asked for a storyline focused on beau sleeping with his girlfriend’s girlfriend? And the straight best friend trope is so overdone.

by Anonymousreply 388Last Tuesday at 4:18 PM

The gays are offended again.

by Anonymousreply 389Last Tuesday at 4:19 PM

OMG SHUT UP. It's a show about young vapid hotties in LA with alien monsters

by Anonymousreply 390Last Tuesday at 4:54 PM
Everyone on this thread has watched MUCH worse for the eye  candy.

Are you talking to me who has seen all of the David DeCoteau's Brotherhood films?

by Anonymousreply 391Last Tuesday at 5:15 PM

R389 maybe try to understand why the gays might be offended.

by Anonymousreply 392Last Tuesday at 5:19 PM

R391 Ah yes, most gaybaiting silliness ever.

by Anonymousreply 393Last Tuesday at 5:22 PM

R390 so what if it is? Just because it’s a vapid show about vapid people doesn’t mean it can’t be criticized.

by Anonymousreply 394Last Tuesday at 5:24 PM

I can't even take these posts seriously. Uly hooks up with two guys in episode 1, and we go one episode without him hooking up with someone and some off kilter bitches are ready to riot.

Talk a walk, take an ambien.

by Anonymousreply 395Last Tuesday at 5:43 PM

This show is worse than Riverdale. (and this is not even close to being as popular)

by Anonymousreply 396Last Tuesday at 5:44 PM

Wait, fuckin Riverdale? Where does that come from? That's such a random show to compare this to.

I get the "Looking" or "Queer As Folk" talk, but Riverdale?

by Anonymousreply 397Last Tuesday at 5:46 PM

r395 lmao hooking up while clothed and a very short interrupted session? HAHAHA hi Greg 👋

by Anonymousreply 398Last Tuesday at 5:47 PM

r397 because Riverdale is a bad show. Looking and QaF at least I can understand why it is a good show.

by Anonymousreply 399Last Tuesday at 5:48 PM

R392 Gay gay gay gay man here and I think you all need a valium.

R391 damn. you got me beat.

by Anonymousreply 400Last Tuesday at 5:52 PM

I refuse to believe there is a person on the planet who has actually watched all those DeCoteau films, not even DeCoteau himself would.

by Anonymousreply 401Last Tuesday at 5:53 PM

I have watched a fair number of them, although that is somewhat due to the fact that I am one of those people who enjoys bad movies.

by Anonymousreply 402Last Tuesday at 5:58 PM

R395 like another poster said a short sex sequence and a fully clothed mutual handjob compared to countless prolonged and highly visualized heterosexual scenes.

by Anonymousreply 403Last Tuesday at 6:02 PM

R403 call the ACLU

by Anonymousreply 404Last Tuesday at 6:03 PM

OTOH, Uly used a condom when he was banging the married dude. I figured that would win some points around here.

by Anonymousreply 405Last Tuesday at 6:03 PM

Yeah, I noticed Araki has gone out of his way to mention condoms with the sex scenes. He is trying to fight the good fight.

by Anonymousreply 406Last Tuesday at 6:05 PM

Just click ignore on the shrieking SJW harpy cauterwaling about the lack of GAY representation on this GAY ass show.

by Anonymousreply 407Last Tuesday at 6:05 PM
highly visualized heterosexual scenes

When those scenes are about showing off Beau's sexy body they aren't THAT straight lol

by Anonymousreply 408Last Tuesday at 6:08 PM

R408 except the ones where it focuses on the girlfriends body.

by Anonymousreply 409Last Tuesday at 6:34 PM

R407 but hardly focuses on the lead and spends the runtime focusing on the straight characters and their sex scenes. And what’s the problem of me using queer?

by Anonymousreply 410Last Tuesday at 6:37 PM

Just shows that this show's apologists are not very bright people. They can't even find a valid rebuttal so they turn to name-calling and constant insults that are irrelevant to the person's statements

by Anonymousreply 411Last Tuesday at 7:07 PM

R411 or some people just think crying over a show about space lizards not being constant butt sex after 2 episodes is ridiculous

by Anonymousreply 412Last Tuesday at 7:40 PM

r412 Or... it is actually a bad show and they're just expressing additional points that needed to be raised.

by Anonymousreply 413Last Tuesday at 7:52 PM

R413 Or it's TV cotton candy, never meant to be deep. It's eye candy with a mildly entertaining plot, not The Wire or Sopranos. Pull out your Looking Blu-rays and relax

by Anonymousreply 414Last Tuesday at 7:56 PM

Lol gregg’s Prolapsed “I’m gay, but maybe I’m not anymore, but maybe I am” asshole is all over this thread now. Give it up. It’s a shit show. I’m not going to watch it for soft core porn when I can click anothe tab on my laptop and actually watch gay porn.

by Anonymousreply 415Last Tuesday at 7:59 PM

Yet you are still here obsessively posting about the show r415...

by Anonymousreply 416Last Tuesday at 8:01 PM

Mysterious Skin and The Living End (its guerilla filmmaking, notwithstanding) are really quite entertaining and terrific films.

by Anonymousreply 417Last Tuesday at 8:06 PM

Hardly ‘obsessively posting about the show; check the receipts, it’s several people trashing it. And yes, that’s what datalounge is about.......if something is targeted to gay men and it’s shit, then I can talk about how it’s shit.

by Anonymousreply 418Last Tuesday at 8:06 PM

Whatever you have to tell yourself r418, but you are watching the show and actively talking about it. Araki is winning.

It's the same thing in the AHS threads, people want to complain it is terrible yet they religiously watch it and love spending their time talking about it. Then wonder why it keeps getting renewed.

by Anonymousreply 419Last Tuesday at 8:14 PM

R412 so you’re saying we can’t critique it because it’s not a serious show? And you read what I posted and came out of it thinking I wanted more butt sex?

by Anonymousreply 420Last Tuesday at 8:23 PM

R414 it not being deep doesn’t make it immune to criticism nor does it mean it’s message can’t be harmful. Dumb shows can be as harmful if not more harmful then serious shows. If you don’t have a problem with it fine but how about you just ignore us? Because all you’re doing is whining about us whining. And what’s the point of even having a thread about a show if we can’t also talk about it’s and it’s creators faults?

by Anonymousreply 421Last Tuesday at 8:44 PM

I must have missed James Duval's cameo in the first episode. Who was he? I just looked him up and he's not aged well. He was such a cutie.

by Anonymousreply 422Last Tuesday at 8:48 PM

R422 He was the hobo bottoming for the lizard
Dumb shows can be as harmful if not more harmful then serious shows.

How??

by Anonymousreply 424Last Tuesday at 8:55 PM

Ohhhhhhh...thanks r423.

by Anonymousreply 425Last Tuesday at 9:12 PM

R424 because they’re more likely to make light of problematic issues and because of their tone those issues can be seen as jokes.

by Anonymousreply 426Last Tuesday at 9:15 PM

Personally, I'm a gay man who likes horror and sci-fi. I'm here for the eye candy (Beau, Avan before that BLASPHEMOUS haircut) and hopefully the lizard/alien plot goes somewhere interesting.

by Anonymousreply 427Last Tuesday at 9:35 PM

R426 I don't think it's that serious. Nor would I think their audience is that dumb.

by Anonymousreply 428Yesterday at 12:21 AM

r419 the problem is AHS is successful show for feminists and this show is just a flop. People probably only watch this for porn, because there is no way that plot is interesting. This is like Cinemax, but with mild gay sex.

by Anonymousreply 429Yesterday at 1:26 AM

r428 the only positive I've read about this is "eye candy". If that is not shallow....

by Anonymousreply 430Yesterday at 1:29 AM
the problem is AHS is successful show for feminists

It is??

by Anonymousreply 431Yesterday at 1:45 AM

Ok *initially* it was successful worldwide, basically it went downhill when Lange left (although the fans did not like Season 4 at all). I stopped watching after 3 episodes last season.

by Anonymousreply 432Yesterday at 2:40 AM

AVERAGE? You porn-obsessed posters with your average bullshit. That is NOT an average-sized penis.
[R422] He was the hobo bottoming for the lizard

Whuh? I thought that was Posey. Jesus

I don’t think posters are opposed to criticism of the show. I think it’s more why even bother applying the GLADD standards and practices to a REALLY dumb show about space lizards. I mean...do you honestly think this show is worthy of being put under a microscope?

by Anonymousreply 433Yesterday at 2:54 AM
Dumb shows can be as harmful if not more harmful then serious shows.

When you get hurt, or triggered, by a show and you keep watching it to keep being offended, and post your outrage on social media, it's not only the show that is dumb.

by Anonymousreply 434Yesterday at 3:14 AM

I want to know if the lizard has size meat.

by Anonymousreply 435Yesterday at 4:54 AM

R428 never said it was I was being anecdotal. I just mean that just because a media is meant to be dumb and not taken seriously doesn’t mean it’s immune to criticism.

by Anonymousreply 436Yesterday at 6:38 AM

R74 is a homosexist who doesn’t get that most bisexuals still have an orientation around one gender — not both.

by Anonymousreply 437Yesterday at 7:11 AM

AHS is garbage that is treated like quality television. That's what I take issue with.

by Anonymousreply 438Yesterday at 8:21 AM

One man's garbage is another man's treasure. Having an issue with that is pretty much insisting that humanity would be better off with a hive mentality where all have the exact same likes and dislikes.

But that would fuck with insecure douchebags who rely on declaring others inferior and themselves superior in order to feel better about themselves. Like"my taste is better, and more sophisticated, than yours!".

by Anonymousreply 439Yesterday at 8:33 AM

R437 what are you talking about?

by Anonymousreply 440Yesterday at 8:41 AM

Depth is too heavy to take all the time. Sometimes you just need a light, romantic comedy. The straights have escapism in spades, so why shouldn't we?

by Anonymousreply 441Yesterday at 9:10 AM

I'm more interested in the muscle fuck god who played the "writer Otto West" that Ford was impressed with.

Who the fuck is Devan Long? Does anyone know if he's gay?

by Anonymousreply 442Yesterday at 9:12 AM

R434 yes because seeing the first two episodes is actively watching it. Like a person can’t like the pilot but still watch the following episode to see if it gets better.

by Anonymousreply 443Yesterday at 9:13 AM
Who the fuck is Devan Long?

A spectacularly bad actor, based on his work in the episode.

by Anonymousreply 444Yesterday at 9:13 AM

I've seen S.W.A.T. and a couple episodes of SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, but I don't remember this muscle daddy.

He needs to fuck my hole.

by Anonymousreply 445Yesterday at 9:16 AM

I guess Devan is straight :(

by Anonymousreply 446Yesterday at 9:17 AM

What is Araki pretentious about, r372?

His main characters are like him -- neurotic bisexuals in self-doubt. They're pretty down-to-earth.

by Anonymousreply 447Yesterday at 11:11 AM
yes because seeing the first two episodes is actively watching it. Like a person can’t like the pilot but still watch the following episode to see if it gets better.

LOL. You are actively watching it so you share your disapproval about it. Just ask yourself what is more important to you: The show or you making sure that others are aware that you have such a far superior and sophisticated taste?

by Anonymousreply 448Yesterday at 11:23 AM

Just here for Beau’s hairy beef

by Anonymousreply 449Yesterday at 11:30 AM

Same R449.

by Anonymousreply 450Yesterday at 11:38 AM

lol

by Anonymousreply 451Yesterday at 11:40 AM

R448 except that’s not at all why I was watching it. Why would I waste my time on a show if I knew from the jump I was going to hate on it? I watched it because of the ads and I thought it looked interesting. I only started criticizing the content of the show after watching it. I never have I said my taste were superior. First taste is relative and second I never criticized anybody for liking the show. Just because I criticized the content of the show doesn’t mean I’m criticizing the people who enjoy it. I’m going to keep watching it because I want to see what becomes of Ulysses storyline. And if I see problems along the way I want to comment on then I will. Because what’s the point of this thread if you can’t point out your grievance? MOST of the post in this thread come from people posting their grievance about this show. If you have a problem with that you can either enjoy it or leave.

by Anonymousreply 452Yesterday at 12:07 PM

Well, it's good to have the right expectations for a show and tolerate shows that serve different purposes.

by Anonymousreply 453Yesterday at 12:18 PM

R447 no neurotic bisexuals are down to earth, mate. Narcissistic fucktards, so far up their own ass more like. And what the fuck is a ‘homsexist’.

At this point I’m more than happy to be labeled a biphobe. I genuinely think they have mental issues. Unironically fucked in the head egotists

by Anonymousreply 454Yesterday at 12:22 PM

FWIW, the alien presence and "Severine Bordeaux" character seem too much like DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR.

I think we're being set up to at least think Severine is an alien probing or reproducing with humans. She's a lot like the Alien Jumpsuit Chicks.

by Anonymousreply 455Yesterday at 12:26 PM

R455 that’s what I was thinking. It would explain the actress’s acting.

by Anonymousreply 456Yesterday at 12:45 PM

Gosh, I'd forgotten how goofily handsome and sexy Seann William Scott is. Where's he been?

by Anonymousreply 457a day ago
I just find it strange how the show is supposed to focus on Ulysses and his relationship with Tyler was heavily if not the most prominent promoted by the show but it barely focuses on them.

Posey and his team were actually the ones who promoted the hell out of the relationship. From the sheer number of articles and interviews with Posey one would think that he was the main character instead of just a side character.

Posey is desperate to get as much publicity as possible out of this show and to express how ok he is to play gay. But he never forgets to stress in every article that he is straight lol. From the article where he says his girlfriend told him to take the role (because it would be great exposure for him) to the article where he - as a straight person - is so comfortable with his sexuality and he "hopes that this inspires the LGBT community to be comfortable with their sexuality as well" lmao.

The interviews would actually sound much more genuine if Posey didn't feel the need to emphasize in every single one of them that he was straight and had a girlfriend. But now it just seems like he's exploiting playing gay as a way to get publicity. It was the same with JTV. There were several interviews with him about his bi role and how proud he was about it although bisexuality wasn't actually important for his character arc on the show at all. In the last episodes his character only said that he was interested in men as well (totally out of the blue) and that was it. I would hardly call that groundbreaking bi-representation.

by Anonymousreply 458a day ago

R458 True. I worked with an actor once who had played gay a few times. He did an article about how actors shouldn't be afraid to do so. He mentioned being straight seven times. I made him cut it down to two.

by Anonymousreply 459a day ago

Guys, it's an ensemble show and you're only in the second episode. They'll develop Posey more later.

He already gave you a Handy J.

by Anonymousreply 460a day ago

I find Posey the least attractive of the guys (but still hot)

-runs away from flying tomatoes-

by Anonymousreply 461a day ago

Posey is only a recurring character, he isn't a lead.

by Anonymousreply 462a day ago

Tyler Posey is welcome to exploit the fuck out of my gay self.

by Anonymousreply 463a day ago
I find Posey the least attractive of the guys (but still hot)

-runs away from flying tomatoes-

I don't understand DL's fascination with Posey. Most of the time he looks greasy and not attractive at all. But perhaps it's because of his several nude videos and other kinky behaviour like getting spanked on TV or showing his bulge or himself peeing on his snapchat.

by Anonymousreply 464a day ago

Posey had the hottest sex tape leak playing with his precum. That makes him a favorite of mine.

by Anonymousreply 465a day ago

R460 is the cast really an ensemble cast? Because the promotion and the reviews seem to think Avan is the starring actor. Kinda like how sex and the city is the Sarah show and not like friends.

The problem is not about Tyler’s lack of development but the lack of Ulysses. And are really supposed to be satisfied by a hj scene when the other characters get prolonged, explicit sex scenes? I wouldn’t have a big problem with it if Ulysses was like a supporting character but he’s like the lead character.

by Anonymousreply 466a day ago

R458 for someone who doesn't like Posey, you seem to know a lot about him.

by Anonymousreply 46720 hours ago

R458 Posey is smart enough to get that his looks are the only card he's got.

by Anonymousreply 46819 hours ago

r458 EXACTLY.

by Anonymousreply 46919 hours ago

Besides finding the actors attractive what do you guys like about the show so far?

by Anonymousreply 47018 hours ago

Ulysses is preoccupied by the space lizards and not constantly having sex. The horror.

by Anonymousreply 47118 hours ago

r467 he's gathering evidences to prove his points. You can't just say Posey is milking his gay character without any proof that he actually does.

by Anonymousreply 47218 hours ago

R471 that’s not what is being complained about. The problem is that he’s supposed to be the main focus but for some reason he’s not given much screen time compared to the other characters nor is his sexuality treated equally. He’s the only queer male of the main cast but his sex scenes so far have been shorter and less explicit compared to the heterosexual characters. It’s basically a cable porn show so why is most of the sex shown heterosexual when the lead is a gay leaning bi male? We know the character isn’t a prude and doesn’t seem to care much about cheating because the show opened with him fucking somebody else’s husband.

by Anonymousreply 47317 hours ago
he's gathering evidences to prove his points

Oh Dear.....

by Anonymousreply 47417 hours ago

Yes, r466.

Avan is the main character and it's from his point of view. He even spins what's happening to the other characters for us.

But the show still has multiple storylines it's following: Severine vs. Ford, where Ford is the protagonist and Carly vs. Jethro, where Carly is the protagonist.

So it is an ensemble piece — any time you have a lot of scenes without Avan. That's typical of TV. This is just a hip soap opera/ light comedy.

by Anonymousreply 47516 hours ago

I think you're jumping to conclusions, r473.

It's only on episode 2. There are 8, more episodes left which have plenty of time for more gay sex scenes and development. So give it some time, maybe?

If you're such a pig that you can't take an interest in the problems of people different than you, maybe you should just wait until all episodes are aired and search the internet for the gay sex scenes only.

by Anonymousreply 47616 hours ago

R476 yet your better even though you called me a pig because you disagree with me? And where was I doing anything you said I was? I never named called anybody for disagreeing with me or even be disrespectful towards them. You’re the one with the problem. You’re getting angry with people because they’re voicing their negative opinion on the show even though voicing opinions is the whole point of threads like these. If our presence on here is causing you so much anger that you resort to name calling then maybe you should sit this one out.

I am giving it time that’s why I am planning on finishing the season. And it’s NOT just about gay sex scenes. It’s about the queer male sexuality not being as explicit as the heterosexuality shown. Wether that comes through to you is on you.

I very clearly am judging my criticism on the first two episodes like I have previously stated. If you have a problem with that then maybe you should ignore me or leave until all the episodes are out. I will be satisfied if through out the remaining episodes the problems I have with the first two episodes are rectified. Easy as that.

You’re making this more of a issue then it needs to be. You’re just going to have to deal that people can have and can also voice their negative opinions on shows you like. Grow up!

by Anonymousreply 47715 hours ago

And my issue lies more with Aracki honestly. When he became more mainstream the gay content became more like subtext and the gay or more feminine leaning male were more severely punished. Plus his views even though not intentionally or overtly homophobic just makes me more aware of the shows flaws.

by Anonymousreply 47815 hours ago

Ashamed much? You oughta be.

Why aren't queer filmmakers allowed to do mainstream content in addition to queer content?

The queer audience is tiny and it's an act of nobility to do any at all. They have to eat, so it's perfectly fair to do content for straight people, with straight characters and problems.

Several queer filmmakers do mainstream content to pay the bills: John Waters, Alan Ball, Julie Taymor Adam Shankman, Elen Degeneres; the list goes all the way down to putzes like Andy Cohen.

Who are you to say they can't, or that they have nothing to offer straight people? A LOT of their work is excellent.

Once again, you've proven you're a pig and homosexist. Al Gayda Terrorist Network at it again!

Datalounge is the wrong place if you want to make moronic, chauvinist statements with no name-calling in return.

by Anonymousreply 47915 hours ago

R479 lol someone is an unhinged bi twat.

by Anonymousreply 48014 hours ago

R479 Where did I say he couldn’t? My problem lies with him including with the way the gay characters are treated when they are added. He can make all the straight films he wants but it’s weird how the treatment of the gay characters when added to these films differ from films that were centered around them films that were more queer. Because it just comes off as pandering to the gays to get support but switch to the straights for more mainstream success. Again to reiterate for you I have a problem with how gays in his films are treated after he became more mainstream then to when he was making films to appeal to queer people.

What’s an act of nobility? So just because he made queer films he can’t do no wrong to queer people? Just because we rarely get films doesn’t mean we have to accept any dribble that is churned out for us. We deserve good quality media too! Not dribble made to make a profit from us. Just because you can accept that doesn’t mean I or anybody else has to.

And you’ve proven what type of a person you are to completely disregard and misinterpret everything I’ve said and call me a pig because you disagree with me. I am not putting homosexuality over any other orientation I’m just pointing out when I feel like it’s not fairly being represented. If anything you sound more homophobic then I am a chauvinist. Just because you resort to name calling doesn’t mean I have to lower myself to your level to attempt to prove a point no matter where we are.

by Anonymousreply 48114 hours ago

It comes down to "why keep watching, if you already know you hate it (based on Araki's previous work)? Because you want to comment how shitty it is and how everybody who is interested in the show is a stupid loser with no taste".

by Anonymousreply 48213 hours ago

JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!

by Anonymousreply 48313 hours ago

R467 We were discussing the LGBT representation in this show and that the relationship between Posey and the main character was heavily advertised. I just responded to this subject matter. And as I'm interested in the show I also read some interviews about it of course.

I was just pointing out Posey's behaviour. And of course I gave examples so that people could understand my point. You don't have to be a big fan of a person to discuss the behaviour of a person. DL is a gossip and discussion blog and not a pure fan blog where you're only allowed to post nice things about your fave.

by Anonymousreply 48412 hours ago

I don’t get being insulted by straight actors declaring their heterosexuality when playing gay roles--especially if they’re single. Christ, just look at some of the threads on DL. Some of you are fucking insane and probably need boundaries established. Besides...who wants to be saying “I’m flattered, but I’m straight” or the opposite for that matter--all day?

As long as it’s brought up fluidly, I don’t see the problem. That’s YOUR hang up.

by Anonymousreply 48512 hours ago

This thread has been taken over by professional gay victim/s. Must be a miserable existence living your life looking for fault in everything.

by Anonymousreply 48611 hours ago

I'm not insulted by him simply stating is heterosexuality. I've absolutely no problem with straight actors playing gay characters either. The point is that Posey, who isn't a main character on the show, makes interview after interview how proud he is to play gay or how he always wanted to be part of the gay community (whatever that should mean?). It's not like he gets asked randomly about it. He specifically goes out there to promote himself with the topic how gay friendly he is and how great his gay role is. He has ten times more interviews than the main character of the show.

It seems like playing gay for him is just a way to promote himself. It's something that gives him attention. He say he wants to inspire the LGBT community to be comfortable with their sexuality. And he does that by showing them how comfortable he is with playing a gay character. But this is laughable because he clearly doesn't feel very comfortable because he has to emphasize his heterosexuality in every single interview. He can't have it both ways. And with all this Posey just looks like someone who's using the gay community to get attention. Which is very disappointing.

by Anonymousreply 48711 hours ago
It seems like playing gay for him is just a way to promote himself.

Oh. My. God! HE IS WORSE THAN HITLER!!!!!!! He needs to get pushed into a grease fire for being such a shameless, self promoting attention whore!
Oh. My. God! HE IS WORSE THAN HITLER!!!!!!! He needs to get pushed into a grease fire for being such a shameless, self promoting attention whore!

You know. If you don't have a problem with straight actors shamelessly exploiting playing gay while simultaneously trying to distance themselves from everything gay associated that's great. But others have a problem with it, especially if the actor is known for constantly using playing gay as a joke. He's not doing normal promo. There are articles with him all over the place although he doesn't have a big role.

I don't know what you want to achieve with your comment. Noone said that it was the worst thing ever. But it's certainly not a good look for him. And it has become a pattern for him to use the LGBT community to promote himself. Nothing wrong with pointing that out.

by Anonymousreply 49011 hours ago

Seriously, did the guy come to your house and raped your dog or something? That is some serious obsession and Posey should find out who you are and get a restraining order against you, because sooner or later you ranting about him will not be enough to satisfy your disturbing obsession.

R492 i think it's safe to say they're a Sterek shipper. They all say the same thing on tumblr.
LOL, are they still after Posey for the comment he made about Sterek? That was ages ago.

Dude, i shit you not they made an anniversary post over it lol. But there was also the time Posey made that lamp joke. I mean i don't know the gay community could ever recover from being compared to a lamp of all things 😆

by Anonymousreply 49610 hours ago

lamp joke? Must have missed that one.

by Anonymousreply 49710 hours ago

R492 Sorry to tell you that I'm not a Sterek shipper. I couldn't care less about that. And I'm also not referrencing his comments about Sterek because I actually agreed a bit with them because some Sterek shippers can be crazy.

I was referrencing to his constant jokes on his social media. His constant "oh, that is so gay" jokes with friends and constantly joking about gay things. He has a habit of using it for fun. He uses "gay" as a sort to attract attention and that can be seen with his roles and the promo for it as well. Don't dismiss everyone who makes a critical comment about Posey immediately as a Sterek shipper.

by Anonymousreply 49810 hours ago

Arakis apologists are hysterical and can't argue with reason, they instead resort to name-calling and abusive labels to degrade the person instead of actually talking about the issue the person was expressing

by Anonymousreply 49910 hours ago

Nobody takes One Million Moms serious either.

by Anonymousreply 50010 hours ago

R497 The lamp joke lol. Posey was standing next to a street sign of Gay St. He then thought it would be a good idea to make a Snapchat pointing at this sign shouting "that's me. I'm gay". Naturally all his fans thought that he just came out. And he has a big fanbase. He started trending on twitter and people congratulated him, told him how happy they were for him and celebrated it. Because most of his fanbase is from TW and there are many gay people among them.

Hours later he made another Snapchat video pointing at a lamp. Shouting "that's me. I'm a lamp". And that of course pissed off many people because they realized that his coming out had just been a joke. He should know that coming out is hard for many people and noone should joke about it easily. But this is Posey for you. He doesn't think things through.

by Anonymousreply 50110 hours ago
And he has a big fanbase.

That's not really saying much. None of the guys from Teen Wolf are that well known. And he could've made a worse comparison. I don't see how it could've been a huge deal when not that many people knew about it to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 50210 hours ago

R482 because I want to see how Ulysses storyline turns out or if the actual show gets better. As other people who responded to me said we’ve only seen the first two episodes. Never said I hated the show and mostly stick to criticizing my perceived unequal treatment of the queer male character. I even said in my previous post that I would be satisfied if the show rectified my problems pertaining to that.

I have never judge anyone’s taste for liking this show. If you meant me using dribble I wasn’t talking about the show it self but in general and it seems like you’re projecting with the last part. I’m going to say this again. Just because I criticize a show doesn’t mean I’m criticizing the people who enjoy it nor am I criticizing their taste.

by Anonymousreply 5039 hours ago
That's not really saying much. None of the guys from Teen Wolf are that well known. And he could've made a worse comparison. I don't see how it could've been a huge deal when not that many people knew about it to begin with.

I think it was a pretty big thing because TW had a really big LGBT fanbase. So joking about coming out had a special impact on them. You'd be surprised how big the fanbase is on social media. It's mostly a very young fanbase and those people are on social media a lot. He immediately started trending on twitter. That shows you what impact it had. He has millions of followers on social media alone and of course the news also spread within the whole fandom and other fandoms. You could show a photo of Posey to young people on social media and then show them a photo of an established actor like Daniel Day Lewis and I assure you more people would recognize Posey than the A-list actor.

by Anonymousreply 5049 hours ago

R504 i'm sorry but i have to disagree. Teen Wolf isn't that well known and i don't think Posey is either. I don't think he had that big of an impact on the lgbt community.

by Anonymousreply 5058 hours ago

R485 the problem is they’re declaring their heterosexuality in a way that paints being gay as unfavorable. They paint themselves as being noble and brave for for demeaning themselves to play such a role because straight roles are the favorable ones. They have to mention how straight they are because god forbid they get seen as gay.

The further issue is that out gay actors get a limited amount of roles compared to their straight counterparts. It’s hard for up and coming gay actors to break out because people aren’t hiring them because of their sexuality. They can only pretty much count on gay roles or go back in the closet to try and make it. The gay roles these actors get are usually in small projects etc. So it it frustrating when they’re gay roles in more mainstream, door opening roles the actors are almost always straight. Why can gay actors play smaller gay roles but when it’s something big straight actors are given the role? That’s why is so upsetting for these straight actors to not only get these roles over their equally qualified gay counterparts but for them to bring their I’m not gay bullshit. If playing such a role could damage your straightness so much that you need to remind everyone how straight you are then maybe don’t take the role. Especially when starving gay actors would gladly take the role and not make it seem like their doing the gay community a favor for being a straight male demeaning themselves to play the inferior gay role.
