Having just watched the trailer I'm still not sure what the fuck it's about.

When did any Araki movie make sense, aside from Mysterious Skin?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 16, 2019 8:17 PM |
Sighs. All the straight sex on display, all the gay sex in the shadows. I'll pass. If you can't even make a fucking trailer where a main gay character is shown in good light kissing and fucking, but your frau sidekick can, to me this is doomed (pun intended).
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 16, 2019 8:22 PM |
Fuck this straight shit. None for me, I thank you.

r4 needs to put on his glasses cuz if you can't see the gay shit in this trailer your eyeballs are the problem
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 16, 2019 9:35 PM |
I saw the gay shit just fine. They're in the dark (as I said) and play 1/3 of the time as the straight ones, even though this is implied the gay character is one of the protagonists. So fuck this shit.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 16, 2019 9:38 PM |
r12 You're right there's really no reason to watch this. What can softcore network porn show us that we haven't already seen?

So this is not a gay series like Looking? It has many co-leads and hottie Tyler is a supporting character. The gay couple is not the central story but one of the stories... meh....
Looking is still the standard for American gay series. And Looking came out after the Trans brigade that destroyed many gay narratives on tv, which makes Looking even more impressive.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 16, 2019 11:43 PM |
It does have a 90s feel that is very nostalgic. Apart from Tyler, it seems like everyone else is Bisexual. I'll skip through the straight sex. Yuk.
Evan and Tyler ...MMMMMMMM
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 16, 2019 11:58 PM |
I'm always happy to see Gregg Araki's work. But it seems to me Gregg has already done this story and these characters before. A few times.

From Gregg Araki's IMDB profile-
He directed a few episodes of Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" and one episode of "American Crime - Season 2" with DL fav Connor Jessup. And other TV stuff.
He's 59.
When did any Araki movie make sense, aside from Mysterious Skin?
Yes, and Mysterious Skin was an adaptation of a book. In Arakis own work he loves going for this super surreal vibe.
And I am not that poster r29, but "Looking" was a superior series to American QAF which a ton of obvious faults were overlooked because it was cutting edge at the same.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 17, 2019 3:24 PM |
Araki is hopeless at movie-making.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 17, 2019 8:09 PM |
He’s truly terrible. Not one ounce of cinematic ability in him.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 17, 2019 8:45 PM |
The Living End was the best summary of gay life in the early 90s. It will always be a touchstone for me. But he’s very much a queer cinema hangover. Not much since Mysterious Skin. But I love his punk gay sensibility.
I can't tell if that is supposed to be funny or if you don't know a damn thing about Gregg Araki [R21].
r22, correct me if I'm wrong, I had heard he was bi and had a wife/girlfriend.
Others have described his work (especially his earlier stuff) as amateurish. Would his early work have been noticed by critics if it didn't feature gay content prominently?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 17, 2019 10:41 PM |
Araki exploited a niche market just like Gus Van Sant did.
We blindly paid over our cash and accepted their amateurishness because it was all we had at that time. But those times are over!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 17, 2019 10:49 PM |
Araki would be described as homoflexible, or bi with a preference for men, or a fluid gay guy or however you want to describe it.
Point being he is far from being mainly into women r40, he has talked about it, but honestly just look at his work and it is pretty obvious.

Araki on his sexuality
Do you identify as bisexual? I don’t really identify as anything, I guess. I have a male partner—we’ve been together for three years—but I don’t really identify. I’d probably identify as gay at this point, but I have been with women.

The trailer makes it look a lot like Araki's film Kaboom which was a hot mess, but Tyler Posey playing gay is enough to get me to watch the first episode at least
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 18, 2019 12:33 AM |
Yep r33, I also think The Living End was one of his strongest works, even though it was limited by a very tiny budget. It was better than his "teen apocalypse trilogy" that followed
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 18, 2019 3:00 AM |

With a last name like Arakis he MUST play Paul Atreides in any upcoming Dune film , and he should legally be required to change all his social media handles to @KwisatzHaderach.
That's all I got to say.

He needs to go away.

R54: Tyler Posey is Teen Wolf actor. I think you are thinking in Tyler Oakley (as far as i know he is not trying to be an actor which is understable because he makes a lot of money as youtuber)
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 18, 2019 9:09 PM |
No R54 Tyler Posey is an actor who has been acting since he was a child and who recently starred in Teen Wolf and a played a bisexual character on Jane The Virgin.

r42, sorry, but why are those who cry bi-erasure at the drop of a hat the same people who will twist all reality in order to avoid using the term? If a guy is sexually attracted to men and women then that man is bisexual, there's no need for a modifier. Also, there is no such thing as a 'fluid' gay man, the word you're looking for is bisexual.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | January 20, 2019 4:32 AM |
Well in his own words "I'd probably identify as gay now", but note that bisexual was literally one of the options in the post you quoted.

All three of them were played by the catfishers r17
by Anonymous | reply 62 | January 20, 2019 8:25 PM |
Thanks, OP! I love Araki and I'm glad I saw the trailer b/c of your post. He uses the exact same score and even dialogue from his film Nowhere in the first 20 seconds and then some dialogue from The Living End mid way through. It's quintessential Araki - it could be interesting. His best work is when he keeps it semi-dark. I always like that his gay characters aren't so stereotypical.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 20, 2019 10:07 PM |
Gregg has only had one public relationship with a woman and that was 20 years ago. I'd call him gay with a phase.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | January 21, 2019 5:40 AM |
r64, is that what he says? I thought he was very outspoken about being bi.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 21, 2019 11:23 PM |
Personal life Araki has previously self-identified as "a gay Asian American".[25] Contrary to the statement, beginning in 1997 he had a relationship with actress Kathleen Robertson, that ended in 1999.[26][27][28] In a 2014 interview, Araki said that he "don’t really identify as anything", adding "[he] probably identify as gay at this point, but [he] have been with women".[29]
by Anonymous | reply 66 | January 21, 2019 11:43 PM |
r66, how he identifies is meaningless. A man who is into both men and women is bisexual.

Avan Jogia, Tyler Posey, and Beau Mirchoff had their dick shots (and jerk off clips) leaked. Except in Avan's case there is no credible face and dick pic or clip.

I don’t like Greg Aracki’s works or even him as a person tbh. His films seem like they want to be deep but end up having nothing to say. A lot of them have awful aesthetics. And I found the more mainstream he went the more gay sexuality became a subtext and not shown like with heterosexuals and lesbians. Or if shown was mostly followed by something negative like death or something. It pretty much started around the time he started dating a woman which could be an explanation. I found it weird how he identified as gay but was bisexual. Like what was the point? I read an interview he did and he didn’t understand why gay people would have a problem with him identifying as gay but dating women. He basically called gay people close minded for having a limited view on sexuality and that we shouldn’t judge because we know it feels to not be accepted. Going by the trailer the show doesn’t look like something I’m going to enjoy but imma give it a chance anyway I might like it.

Looking is a mature show made for mature people. It's no surprise gays with a Peter Pan syndrome couldn't sit through a show dealing with nuance and relationships. QAF USA is embarrassing to the highest degree.
Banana and Cucumber are two very funny modern day gays shows. I've just found out yesterday they'll revive the L word.

What I love about Looking is that it had tridimensional characters. Patrick was annoying and someone I'd punch in the face, but he was so castrated by his mom he couldn't deal with anything. by Anonymous | reply 108 | February 26, 2019 3:21 PM |
I'll give them credit for the kiss. I'm seeing full tongue there. Most actors playing gay try to cheat it so they don't have to do that. I've also had a thing for Beau since Desperate Housewives and always hoped the Andrew character would seduce him at some point, so this is right up my alley.
I honestly think that the good thing about all these younger actors is that they really don't care as much about this kind of stuff. I think they're more open to doing nudity and sexual stuff on screen, which is great. I'm so sick of this country being so puritanical about our bodies and sex.

Saw the first 3 episodes yesterday. Classic Araki, well cast. Plenty of eye candy, but more tits than butts. The boys do spend a lot of time in briefs though.
by Anonymous | reply 140 | March 4, 2019 7:05 PM |
R138 I wish that had stayed so.
But I think he will have some success now; queer/ fluid male sexuality is very du jour in 2019. He was a bit too alternative in his presentation of queer men to both straight and gay audiences in the 1990’s. Now teen girls love bi guys in their content and gays will take whatever scraps they can get. Hets are getting used to it too.
So even though this series is not in the least bit new for Gregg - indeed laughably so - I think it is the perfect timing for it in 2019.
I for one find him a one trick pony and for all his pretense of being a ‘queer cinema artiste 👩🎨 ‘, a bit of a hack.

I can see this show being as polarizing as all of of Araki's New Queer Cinema stuff. But I ended up really liking it. And not just because of all the gay stuff. I definitely see the elements of Nowhere, as Uly has a pretty strong resemblance to Duval's Dark.
Speaking of which, Duval has a short cameo, and if we see him again, I bet he is playing the same character.
And Avon Jorgia and Tyler Posey have excellent chemistry.

Well, damn, I didn't enjoy the first episode at all. The acting is more than fine but it all just comes across as empty and cheaply made. It's about what I expected. Kinda silly but enjoyable as long as you are willing to just go with it. It's good that it is just 30 minutes, this wouldn't work as an hour long affair. I'm happy to be along for the ride.
Outside of being the the nice eye candy for the gay viewers, I was surprised how charming I found Beau Mirchoff.
And Avon Jorgia and Tyler Posey have excellent chemistry.
See, this actually disappointed me. I didn't think they had great chemistry. I though Beau and Avan had better chemistry in that fantasy sequence.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | March 10, 2019 10:25 PM |
Araki ain't no millennial - although he does seem to suffer from some kind of arrested development and seems to still be chasing those ghosts of the mid-90s "queer" boy. He even "fluid" before it was cool and suffered the wrath of the gays in 1998 when he brought his new girlfriend to the opening of the last installment of his "queer" trilogy. Talk about awkward but not surprising to anyone who was paying any attention to the first two films - the male stars were all bisexual or straight and gay was not cool at all. The New York Post could barely restrain itself in mocking him and his next few films were horrible - they were all straight washed just like his pathetic attempt to date that actress. He finally redeemed himself when he lucked out and optioned the script for Mysterious Skin - gay was now OK and so was Greg again.

by Anonymous | reply 182 | March 10, 2019 11:37 PM |
The dialog is rather dated.
All the straight couples were the worst part of the show, and they were like 60% of the whole episode. Evan had great chemistry Posey and Mirchoff, and it's so sad that this show feels like such a wasted opportunity. A love triangle between Evan, Posey, and Mirchoff would have been incredible because there is real chemistry there.

Evan was indeed adorable. Clearly the best actor of the bunch. It's too bad the episode lost all the momentum of the opening scene once the focused shifted to the straight couples.
Did anyone noticed that Evan had trouble topping his more physically robust scene partner? Eva has the body of a twink and should have been the one bottoming to the clearly taller and stronger actor he was supposedly fucking.
I thought Posey and Evan has mad chemistry in the alley scene. They kiss so well.

They tucked the bottom's penis in the opening scene so it wouldn't show on screen. That, or they were going for the FTM representation. Probably the latter, let's be real. And I can almost hear Bryan Fuller screaming at his TV: "That cock is NOT going into that hole! Angles, people, angles!"
I too was surprised at how competent Avan's acting was. Where the hell did he get them chops?

Yes, Tyler Posey has openly talked about how bad he was at acting Season 1 at Teen Wolf. I still don't think he is great, but he has definitely gotten a lot better.

r215 You'd think that judging by that description, wouldn't you? But the characterisation - whatever little we got of it - felt so hollow and dated. That's what I was referring to by "not having much meat on it". And even the actual meat we should have seen was safely tucked away, as demonstrated in r189.
This show feels like something I'd go completely nuts over before Peak TV happened.
by Anonymous | reply 217 | March 11, 2019 1:30 PM |
To me the first episode did what it was supposed to. We got introduced to our main characters, the vibe of the show was established, and it ended with the alien tease.
I mean it is basically the lives of a bunch of oversexed 20-somethings trying to make it in LA, thrown in with a bit of the Araki style surrealism with aliens.
by Anonymous | reply 218 | March 11, 2019 1:32 PM |
The first episode can do what it's supposed to (talk about a low bar), or it can do more. I was just expecting to see him push himself creatively, that's all. Like someone upthread said, he's got his established schtick and you either like it or you don't. Guess it's just not my thing after all. I love fantastical elements in general, but they're not done that well here; they come across as comical and cheap, while I prefer the subtler, unnerving ones.
I'd be more prepared to cheer this show on if it had an openly gay actor in the cast. Right now, I'm being asked to lust over straight guys and yet again applaud them for their courage because they kissed another man. I'll sure be glad when that stops being a thing.

"Comical and cheap" is the Araki Brand, so yeah, I'd say he's just not your thing then. r227 No one wants to hear that - Araki plays the victim well (he turned the understandable shock and dismay to his arrival at Sundance with his new girlfriend in 98 into a "gays are intolerant of the wonders of pussy" meme and his work has always privileged heterosexuality over homosexuality) and has managed to cultivate a following among straight hipsters on the film festival circuit, who always sing his praises. Most gay people have never heard of him or can't stand him....

Too many biracial people call themselves one or the other, it's usually dependent how they look. I'm biracial. I never say I'm black because I know I'm not 100% black. Most people assume I'm South Asian (Pakistani or Indian) or Hispanic.

I agree, Neither is this show a standard about gay, straight and bi young people. Jeez, you do have to what is wrong with people these days? No one thinks any more.
This is Araki's personal vision of a very specific group of LA stoners and hipsters who are trying to break into showbiz. I have no idea what Avan's character wants to be, so far he's into hooking up, getting stoned, riding his bike and hallucinating. His roommate wants to write scripts and the blond chick is a sex cam 'actress'.
I was half paying attention, if it was revealed what Avan's character's career goal was, I missed it.

WONDER what is wrong....
by Anonymous | reply 244 | March 12, 2019 4:07 AM |
Avan is not 100% South Asian.
Avan was born in Canada. His father is a British Indian, and his mother is of English and German descent. His older brother Ketan, is a music producer in London. He left school at 17. Avan speaks Gujarati and French.

Different people have different standards, and of course DLers use that as an excuse for a dick measuring contest. Or at least pretending to be able to measure their micro penises. Like, really. Instead of appreciating the show it's about comparisons and "my taste is better then your taste, you fucking loser!".

I don't know if it's some foreshadowing thing, but Avan doesn't look at Tyler for a few lines after giving each other a handjob. It's almost looks like Avan is reading his lines from cue cards.

Are you fucking serious? It's the same as Italian-American, German-American etc, don't be a fucking douche.
Avan's grandparents on his father's side were born in India, his father was born in England. Which make this dad a British-Indian, like Riz Ahmed is a British-Pakistani, Riz was born in London.
Model Giselle Bunchen was born in Brazil, but her parents are of German descent, which makes her a Brazilian-German.
Avan and his mom.

“It was so much fun on set. I had the greatest time. The director, Greg [Araki], made it so easy and comfortable on set. It was just great, I had the greatest time filming it.”

Reminds me of Ian McShane's comments of American Gods featuring very explicit gay sex (which turned out to be an overly produced CGI scene). Both Now Acopalypse and American Gods are on Starz.
Never ever oversell. It will only drive expectations high and end up disappointing the viewers.

by Anonymous | reply 294 | March 16, 2019 9:55 PM |
R294, teh whole "Became terrible" thing was the moment they stopped featuring shirtless scenes every episode, no longer had locker-room scenes, … you know, eliminated the primary reason for watching it, because someone want it to be taken "seriously" or something.
by Anonymous | reply 295 | March 17, 2019 12:26 AM |
The show just lost its sense of fun. The first couple seasons were a fun guilty pleasure, but yes it started taking itself way too seriously.

Avan's short hair is terrible and the multi-colors make it even more of a travesty.

R295 i don't think it helped that one of the actors talked about the shirtless scenes being pointless/ridiculous. I mean, he's not wrong lol. But fandom used it as another excuse to shit on the show, the actresses and JD.
R296 agreed. I know it's not a popular opinion but it went downhill after season 2/moved to LA.

I'm actually enjoying Avan Jogia's character/storyline but I really don't care about the blonde cam girl and her relationship drama that took up half the fucking episode.
by Anonymous | reply 309 | March 17, 2019 8:42 PM |
I only care about the cam girl because her dim boyfriend is hot. I can do without the weirdness that is Beau's storyline with his scientist girlfriend but at least we were treated to his ass and bulge in this episode.
by Anonymous | reply 310 | March 17, 2019 8:44 PM |
The "scientist girlfriend" is the worst part... she's utterly unconvincing and there's nothing grounded in any sort of reality there... you have to start from some grounding to go into the weird stuff, and this is just shitty 'hot girl scientists' tropes from bad porn. It really takes me out of the show.

Agree with the posters above: the str8 roomie and his girls freind are blah, but I do like the relationship between Avan and the Cam girl bestie (and their storylines).
I think they are. While Ford was on the phone with his girlfriend? Otto told Barnabas Ford had a tight ass and wanted to bend him over a bench.
I didn't catch that so thanks, but even without that it is super obvious that Barnabas and Otto just are humoring him because their goal is to get into his pants.
I wonder if they were specifically going for Singer, but given the pool party setting, it just seemed obvious.
Of course pool parties at common in LA, but still my mind went to the them making allusions to the Singer crowd.
Seriously, the "scientist" girlfriend is just the worst. He line-readings couldn't be more flat and stilted. Painful.
Yes, the rest of their cast can hold their own, but whenever she has a lot of dialog it feels like I am watching an amateur film and takes me out of the show. I'm fine with some emotionless hot scientist character in theory, but she is just not at the level of the rest of the cast and the show suffers as a result.
Seeing the "composing message" ellipsis and then have it vanish is agonizing.
Yeah, that was a great little moment.
I was even entertained in the scenes with the cam girl and her boyfriend and that doesn't have Beau beefcake or gay content, so I think overall the show is growing up. I just really hope the girl playing Severine gets better as the season goes on.

I still believe there is something Mulholland Drive going on with Beau's character story. Like, in the end we find out that the show is just some drug induced dream of Ford trying to cope with the fact that his life in LA didn't work out for him at all and he became jaded and bitter and a total junkie who killed his best friend and roommate Ulysses when Ulysses caught him stealing his stuff to buy himself drugs.

All these things along with the Kinsey makes me think this is actually meant to be shown in 2010. This is fucking cliched and outdated, did the writers even think before writing this?

It's all about the DRAMA! Fictional people without issues deal with a fucked up situation in a less drama way than a fictional person struggles with emotional conflicts and issues. But of course, don't let that get in the way of the anti queer troll.
And loosers? Really? Oh, dear.

Possibly one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Why was this dreck even allowed to air?
by Anonymous | reply 369 | March 19, 2019 12:24 PM |
Yeah...this show is very Araki--shallow, dated and utterly brainless--so I get why DL loves it. Tyler and Avan look like brothers--OF COURSE--almost interchangeable. The ONLY redeeming think about it is the lead's BF who is CLEARLY above this material. Hopefully, she'll get something of this.
Also, Mirchoff is proof that you CANNOT determine penis size when it's flaccid. He had a nubbin in those trunks, but if you've seen his JO video, that just ain't the case and his body is FUCKING ridiculous. I wanted to lick my screen!
by Anonymous | reply 370 | March 19, 2019 12:31 PM |
You can NOT have a queer show without a transgender woman of color.
by Anonymous | reply 371 | March 19, 2019 12:40 PM |
Araki is too pretentious for me.
by Anonymous | reply 372 | March 19, 2019 1:08 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 373 | March 19, 2019 2:40 PM |
r370 Just to clarify, his bulge on the show is clearly the result of (generous) padding, because his actual hard dick is an average size.
And yes, his body is unreal. His chest alone seems like it just goes on and on forever.
by Anonymous | reply 374 | March 19, 2019 2:56 PM |
A bulge is largely about ball size, Beau has nice testes.
by Anonymous | reply 375 | March 19, 2019 3:03 PM |
No, you can clearly see what's supposed to be his dick in those briefs and it makes me laugh because I know that ridiculous girth isn't his own.

I go to Greg for that nostalgic mid 90s teenage feeling. Not so much for the sex scenes. Which are hit and miss.
by Anonymous | reply 377 | March 19, 2019 3:24 PM |
It's sexually graphic which is quite rare these days. All the other shows I watch do that "making out / starting to take of their clothes, cut to the aftermath where they get out of bed in their underwear or wrap the blanket around their bodies".
by Anonymous | reply 378 | March 19, 2019 5:12 PM |
R365 oh bugger off. Where is the same ‘drama’ for the straight sex scenes then? You are either Gregg or the co writer defending this both dumb and boring shitshow.
Not really offended at being called ‘antiqueer’, as most ‘queers’ are anti gay so they can fuck right off.

The Thread to Hate on "Now Apocalypse" After Its Premiere
by Anonymous | reply 382 | March 19, 2019 9:46 PM |
I’m confused. Is the show an ensemble cast or is Ulysses the main character? He opens and close the first two episodes but besides that he barely gets any screen time compared to the straight characters.
by Anonymous | reply 383 | March 19, 2019 11:30 PM |
And on the basis of the straight characters, why do they get more sex scenes than Ulysses and why are they prolonged and way more explicit? We know Ulysses is not a prude because the pilot opens with him fucking some other guy’s husband and he and Tyler (forgot the characters name) hooked up on the first date. I just find it strange how the show is supposed to focus on Ulysses and his relationship with Tyler was heavily if not the most prominent promoted by the show but it barely focuses on them. It skips the gay content and focuses on the straight one.
by Anonymous | reply 384 | March 19, 2019 11:41 PM |
I don’t know if it’s the studio or Aracki himself doing this but if your not going to focus on Ulysses and his gay (even though he’s technically bi) content then why make his the main character. Why is the only queer male represented on the show treated like a side character? Is it because he’s gay leaning? Will the show put more focus on him if he gets with a woman? Why does Aracki treat his gay characters like shit? I feel like he puts them in his films just to have something bad happen to them compared to the other characters?
by Anonymous | reply 385 | March 19, 2019 11:48 PM |
I'm watching for Beau. Beau in short shorts. Beau in underwear. Beau nude. Beau Beau Beau.
by Anonymous | reply 386 | March 19, 2019 11:54 PM |
It sucks that Ulysses doesn’t get much screen time because he’s got the most interesting storyline and the most captivating character. Who honestly cares about cam girl and writer dude? Most of you guys talk about Beau because you find him hot. Y’all barely talk about his storylines unless it’s to mention how bad an actress the girlfriend is and can girl is barely mentioned. On the subject of beau’s storyline why is the only other queer men shown predators? Not saying there can’t be gay predators on the show but to see the way the other queer male’s treated their inclusion is very suspect.
by Anonymous | reply 387 | March 20, 2019 12:04 AM |
Doesn’t Ulysses have any other friends or acquaintances besides those two straight characters? Why is the show bringing in more relationships for the two straight characters while Ulysses is stuck with them. They have a life outside of Ulysses while his is focused around them. Who asked for a storyline focused on beau sleeping with his girlfriend’s girlfriend? And the straight best friend trope is so overdone.

I watched it because of the ads and I thought it looked interesting. I only started criticizing the content of the show after watching it. I never have I said my taste were superior. First taste is relative and second I never criticized anybody for liking the show. Just because I criticized the content of the show doesn’t mean I’m criticizing the people who enjoy it. I’m going to keep watching it because I want to see what becomes of Ulysses storyline. And if I see problems along the way I want to comment on then I will. Because what’s the point of this thread if you can’t point out your grievance? MOST of the post in this thread come from people posting their grievance about this show.
I just find it strange how the show is supposed to focus on Ulysses and his relationship with Tyler was heavily if not the most prominent promoted by the show but it barely focuses on them.
Posey and his team were actually the ones who promoted the hell out of the relationship. From the sheer number of articles and interviews with Posey one would think that he was the main character instead of just a side character.
Posey is desperate to get as much publicity as possible out of this show and to express how ok he is to play gay. But he never forgets to stress in every article that he is straight lol. From the article where he says his girlfriend told him to take the role (because it would be great exposure for him) to the article where he - as a straight person - is so comfortable with his sexuality and he "hopes that this inspires the LGBT community to be comfortable with their sexuality as well" lmao.
The interviews would actually sound much more genuine if Posey didn't feel the need to emphasize in every single one of them that he was straight and had a girlfriend. But now it just seems like he's exploiting playing gay as a way to get publicity. It was the same with JTV. There were several interviews with him about his bi role and how proud he was about it although bisexuality wasn't actually important for his character arc on the show at all. In the last episodes his character only said that he was interested in men as well (totally out of the blue) and that was it. I would hardly call that groundbreaking bi-representation.
by Anonymous | reply 458 | March 20, 2019 8:52 PM |
R458 True. I worked with an actor once who had played gay a few times. He did an article about how actors shouldn't be afraid to do so. He mentioned being straight seven times. I made him cut it down to two.

I don't understand DL's fascination with Posey. Most of the time he looks greasy and not attractive at all. But perhaps it's because of his several nude videos and other kinky behaviour like getting spanked on TV or showing his bulge or himself peeing on his snapchat.
by Anonymous | reply 464 | March 20, 2019 9:13 PM |
Posey had the hottest sex tape leak playing with his precum. That makes him a favorite of mine.
by Anonymous | reply 465 | March 20, 2019 9:41 PM |
R460 is the cast really an ensemble cast? Because the promotion and the reviews seem to think Avan is the starring actor. Kinda like how sex and the city is the Sarah show and not like friends.
The problem is not about Tyler’s lack of development but the lack of Ulysses. And are really supposed to be satisfied by a hj scene when the other characters get prolonged, explicit sex scenes? I wouldn’t have a big problem with it if Ulysses was like a supporting character but he’s like the lead character.

by Anonymous | reply 472 | March 21, 2019 4:16 AM |
R471 that’s not what is being complained about. The problem is that he’s supposed to be the main focus but for some reason he’s not given much screen time compared to the other characters nor is his sexuality treated equally. He’s the only queer male of the main cast but his sex scenes so far have been shorter and less explicit compared to the heterosexual characters. It’s basically a cable porn show so why is most of the sex shown heterosexual when the lead is a gay leaning bi male? We know the character isn’t a prude and doesn’t seem to care much about cheating because the show opened with him fucking somebody else’s husband.

by Anonymous | reply 474 | March 21, 2019 5:14 AM |
Yes, r466.
Avan is the main character and it's from his point of view. He even spins what's happening to the other characters for us.
But the show still has multiple storylines it's following: Severine vs. Ford, where Ford is the protagonist and Carly vs. Jethro, where Carly is the protagonist.
So it is an ensemble piece — any time you have a lot of scenes without Avan. That's typical of TV. This is just a hip soap opera/ light comedy.
by Anonymous | reply 475 | March 21, 2019 5:20 AM |
I think you're jumping to conclusions, r473.
It's only on episode 2. There are 8, more episodes left which have plenty of time for more gay sex scenes and development. So give it some time, maybe?
If you're such a pig that you can't take an interest in the problems of people different than you, maybe you should just wait until all episodes are aired and search the internet for the gay sex scenes only.
by Anonymous | reply 476 | March 21, 2019 5:25 AM |
R476 yet your better even though you called me a pig because you disagree with me? And where was I doing anything you said I was? I never named called anybody for disagreeing with me or even be disrespectful towards them. You’re the one with the problem. You’re getting angry with people because they’re voicing their negative opinion on the show even though voicing opinions is the whole point of threads like these. If our presence on here is causing you so much anger that you resort to name calling then maybe you should sit this one out.
I am giving it time that’s why I am planning on finishing the season. And it’s NOT just about gay sex scenes. It’s about the queer male sexuality not being as explicit as the heterosexuality shown. Wether that comes through to you is on you.
I very clearly am judging my criticism on the first two episodes like I have previously stated. If you have a problem with that then maybe you should ignore me or leave until all the episodes are out. I will be satisfied if through out the remaining episodes the problems I have with the first two episodes are rectified. Easy as that.
You’re making this more of a issue then it needs to be. You’re just going to have to deal that people can have and can also voice their negative opinions on shows you like. Grow up!
by Anonymous | reply 477 | March 21, 2019 6:30 AM |
And my issue lies more with Aracki honestly. When he became more mainstream the gay content became more like subtext and the gay or more feminine leaning male were more severely punished. Plus his views even though not intentionally or overtly homophobic just makes me more aware of the shows flaws.
by Anonymous | reply 478 | March 21, 2019 6:47 AM |
Ashamed much? You oughta be.
Why aren't queer filmmakers allowed to do mainstream content in addition to queer content?
The queer audience is tiny and it's an act of nobility to do any at all. They have to eat, so it's perfectly fair to do content for straight people, with straight characters and problems.
Several queer filmmakers do mainstream content to pay the bills: John Waters, Alan Ball, Julie Taymor Adam Shankman, Elen Degeneres; the list goes all the way down to putzes like Andy Cohen.
Who are you to say they can't, or that they have nothing to offer straight people? A LOT of their work is excellent.
Once again, you've proven you're a pig and homosexist. Al Gayda Terrorist Network at it again!
Datalounge is the wrong place if you want to make moronic, chauvinist statements with no name-calling in return.

R479 lol someone is an unhinged bi twat.
by Anonymous | reply 480 | March 21, 2019 7:28 AM |
R479 Where did I say he couldn’t? My problem lies with him including with the way the gay characters are treated when they are added. He can make all the straight films he wants but it’s weird how the treatment of the gay characters when added to these films differ from films that were centered around them films that were more queer. Because it just comes off as pandering to the gays to get support but switch to the straights for more mainstream success. Again to reiterate for you I have a problem with how gays in his films are treated after he became more mainstream then to when he was making films to appeal to queer people.
What’s an act of nobility? So just because he made queer films he can’t do no wrong to queer people? Just because we rarely get films doesn’t mean we have to accept any dribble that is churned out for us. We deserve good quality media too! Not dribble made to make a profit from us. Just because you can accept that doesn’t mean I or anybody else has to.
And you’ve proven what type of a person you are to completely disregard and misinterpret everything I’ve said and call me a pig because you disagree with me. I am not putting homosexuality over any other orientation I’m just pointing out when I feel like it’s not fairly being represented. If anything you sound more homophobic then I am a chauvinist. Just because you resort to name calling doesn’t mean I have to lower myself to your level to attempt to prove a point no matter where we are.
by Anonymous | reply 481 | March 21, 2019 7:46 AM |
It comes down to "why keep watching, if you already know you hate it (based on Araki's previous work)? Because you want to comment how shitty it is and how everybody who is interested in the show is a stupid loser with no taste".

R467 We were discussing the LGBT representation in this show and that the relationship between Posey and the main character was heavily advertised. I just responded to this subject matter. And as I'm interested in the show I also read some interviews about it of course.
I was just pointing out Posey's behaviour. And of course I gave examples so that people could understand my point. You don't have to be a big fan of a person to discuss the behaviour of a person. DL is a gossip and discussion blog and not a pure fan blog where you're only allowed to post nice things about your fave.
by Anonymous | reply 484 | March 21, 2019 9:47 AM |
I don’t get being insulted by straight actors declaring their heterosexuality when playing gay roles--especially if they’re single. Christ, just look at some of the threads on DL. Some of you are fucking insane and probably need boundaries established. Besides...who wants to be saying “I’m flattered, but I’m straight” or the opposite for that matter--all day?
As long as it’s brought up fluidly, I don’t see the problem. That’s YOUR hang up.

by Anonymous | reply 486 | March 21, 2019 10:41 AM |
I'm not insulted by him simply stating is heterosexuality. I've absolutely no problem with straight actors playing gay characters either. The point is that Posey, who isn't a main character on the show, makes interview after interview how proud he is to play gay or how he always wanted to be part of the gay community (whatever that should mean?). It's not like he gets asked randomly about it. He specifically goes out there to promote himself with the topic how gay friendly he is and how great his gay role is. He has ten times more interviews than the main character of the show.
It seems like playing gay for him is just a way to promote himself. It's something that gives him attention. He say he wants to inspire the LGBT community to be comfortable with their sexuality. And he does that by showing them how comfortable he is with playing a gay character. But this is laughable because he clearly doesn't feel very comfortable because he has to emphasize his heterosexuality in every single interview. He can't have it both ways. And with all this Posey just looks like someone who's using the gay community to get attention. Which is very disappointing.

You know. If you don't have a problem with straight actors shamelessly exploiting playing gay while simultaneously trying to distance themselves from everything gay associated that's great. But others have a problem with it, especially if the actor is known for constantly using playing gay as a joke. He's not doing normal promo. There are articles with him all over the place although he doesn't have a big role.
I don't know what you want to achieve with your comment. Noone said that it was the worst thing ever. But it's certainly not a good look for him. And it has become a pattern for him to use the LGBT community to promote himself. Nothing wrong with pointing that out.

He uses "gay" as a sort to attract attention and that can be seen with his roles and the promo for it as well. Don't dismiss everyone who makes a critical comment about Posey immediately as a Sterek shipper.

R497 The lamp joke lol. Posey was standing next to a street sign of Gay St. He then thought it would be a good idea to make a Snapchat pointing at this sign shouting "that's me. I'm gay". Naturally all his fans thought that he just came out. And he has a big fanbase. He started trending on twitter and people congratulated him, told him how happy they were for him and celebrated it. Because most of his fanbase is from TW and there are many gay people among them.
Hours later he made another Snapchat video pointing at a lamp. Shouting "that's me. I'm a lamp". And that of course pissed off many people because they realized that his coming out had just been a joke. He should know that coming out is hard for many people and noone should joke about it easily. But this is Posey for you. He doesn't think things through.

R482 because I want to see how Ulysses storyline turns out or if the actual show gets better. As other people who responded to me said we’ve only seen the first two episodes. Never said I hated the show and mostly stick to criticizing my perceived unequal treatment of the queer male character. I even said in my previous post that I would be satisfied if the show rectified my problems pertaining to that.
I have never judge anyone’s taste for liking this show. If you meant me using dribble I wasn’t talking about the show it self but in general and it seems like you’re projecting with the last part. I’m going to say this again. Just because I criticize a show doesn’t mean I’m criticizing the people who enjoy it nor am I criticizing their taste.

I think it was a pretty big thing because TW had a really big LGBT fanbase. So joking about coming out had a special impact on them. You'd be surprised how big the fanbase is on social media. It's mostly a very young fanbase and those people are on social media a lot. He immediately started trending on twitter. That shows you what impact it had. He has millions of followers on social media alone and of course the news also spread within the whole fandom and other fandoms. You could show a photo of Posey to young people on social media and then show them a photo of an established actor like Daniel Day Lewis and I assure you more people would recognize Posey than the A-list actor.

by Anonymous | reply 505 | March 21, 2019 1:25 PM |
R485 the problem is they’re declaring their heterosexuality in a way that paints being gay as unfavorable. They paint themselves as being noble and brave for for demeaning themselves to play such a role because straight roles are the favorable ones. They have to mention how straight they are because god forbid they get seen as gay.
The further issue is that out gay actors get a limited amount of roles compared to their straight counterparts. It’s hard for up and coming gay actors to break out because people aren’t hiring them because of their sexuality. They can only pretty much count on gay roles or go back in the closet to try and make it. The gay roles these actors get are usually in small projects etc. So it it frustrating when they’re gay roles in more mainstream, door opening roles the actors are almost always straight. Why can gay actors play smaller gay roles but when it’s something big straight actors are given the role? That’s why is so upsetting for these straight actors to not only get these roles over their equally qualified gay counterparts but for them to bring their I’m not gay bullshit. If playing such a role could damage your straightness so much that you need to remind everyone how straight you are then maybe don’t take the role. Especially when starving gay actors would gladly take the role and not make it seem like their doing the gay community a favor for being a straight male demeaning themselves to play the inferior gay role.

His actions have an influence on several millions of people. Because millions of people alone follow him on his official social media (2.4m on twitter, 5.5m on IG) and of course many more who don't directly follow him know him via the fandom. Of course he doesn't have a huge impact on the LGBT community as a whole. But I would say that your actions have still quite an impact if they reach millions of people.

The Big, Queer Universe of Gregg Araki - The filmmaker on Now Apocalypse, writing through the AIDS crisis and Trump era, and gay-baiting on Riverdale
Is he really the right person to be talking about gay-baiting? Does he actually employ any gays on his new show? Fluids don't count. I'm surprised they used the term gay-baiting, not queer-baiting. How archaic of them.
by Anonymous | reply 509 | March 21, 2019 6:38 PM |
r509 Reading that interview just confirmed to me how vapid Araki actually is...Interesting how he seems to have written his little bisexual interregnum with that actress out of history! You would think he would play it up since we are told constantly that fluidity is the new gay - a talking point that he repeats ad nauseum in these interviews but only in the abstract. But I think the motivating factor probably had more to do with his AIDS panic as the interview makes clear - he saw heterosexuality as liberating him from impending death! And by the time he figured out pussy wasn't his thing at the end of the 90s, AIDS was no longer a death sentence. Funny how that worked out...

R487 / R490 I completely agree! Tyler is using the characters gayness to get media attention and “progressive” points to appeal more to his fans. If he was really serious about what he said about the role then he wouldn’t make such a big deal out of it.
R491 just because he’s participated in aid charities doesn’t mean he can’t exploitative. You can have gay friends and still be homophobic. You can also support gay people but have no problem using them to further your career.
As the other poster stated this isn’t new coming from Tyler. He has a history of queerbating, joking about gay people and has received controversy because of it.

I agree that Posey uses those roles and the promo around it to get "wokeness" points. He knows that he got tons of criticism for his gay jokes, his fake coming out etc. The choice of this role seems very deliberate to show people "see, I love the gay community. You can't criticize me anymore". And it seems to work with his fanbase who praised him for playing bi in JTV (although the role was in fact a straight role as the character only confessed that he was bi shortly before he left the show). As soon we got the bi reveal he gave tons of interviews about his great bi role. Making a big deal about basically nothing.
And the same with this show. He doesn't play a main character but he has tons of interviews about his great gay role. And in every single one he has to emphasize how comfortable he is in his straightness. I doubt Posey has any problem with working with gay people. I think in the HW industry that's unavoidable. But he himself acts as a simple frat bro in private who feels comfortable to use gayness as a joke. And this is ignorant. But he also knows that gay topics bring him attention.
If playing a gay or bi character wasn't a big deal for him he wouldn't feel the need to shout it from the rooftops whenever he plays a character like that. But it seems like he deliberately chose those roles so that he and his PR team can go overdrive to promote him and his image as an "ally". He has tons of interviews out there shouting "see, I'm playing gay and I -as a straight guy- feel comfortable with that!". Playing a LGBT character is a simple means for Posey to get the most attention.

OMG, you bitches will never guess what I just figured out! Casey Deidrick from Day's Of Our Lives fame is in Episode 7. He now has mucho facial hair and he's bulked up since his DOOL's days.
He plays a shirtless bartender at a sex party. His scene is very short... but there is also a scene with a guy fucking a chick in a kitchen. You mostly see his naked backside as he's pumping, but it's obvious he has facial hair. His back and arm tattoos also match up to Casey's.

R524 Here. I finished binge watching the rest of the episodes early this morning and I can't say I wasn't disappointed and felt cheated.
*Spoilers* I guess the information on IMDB isn't always right afterall. Tyler Posey was listed as performing in all 10 episodes. I would say 5 at most and most of his appearances are in Ulysses' dreams or when Ulysses thinks he sees him. If you told me he was in more than 10 minutes the whole season, I would be shocked.
by Anonymous | reply 545 | March 23, 2019 2:12 AM |
Araki sure has some fucked up views on women sexuality if, as one suspects, Uly is based on his own experiences. Episode 5 ends with the girl taking Uly's straight virginity (she is an expert it seems with such profound statements like "most gay guys are traumatized by the vag") and declaring that he loves it because he can "control another persons pleasure" (clits apparently rob women of all sexual agency).

God Araki is a self-loathing cunt - the beginning of episode 6 where Uly waxes poetic about the joys of the vagina and then makes the statement that heterosexual sex is the most natural because the vagina is designed (by whom god - evolution doesn't work that way) specifically for the cock. This is supposed to be progressive? Ugh
by Anonymous | reply 548 | March 23, 2019 3:31 AM |

Finished binge watching the season, overall a bit disappointing. I don’t care about it not being “full-on” gay like some people seemed to expect, doesn’t really matter to me. It does veer off into Skinemax territory though. Just too much sex at the expense of plot and story. The poster above is correct, Tyler Pusey really isn’t even in the series, other than that one episode. Mildly diverting, but nothing great, although Beau Mirchoff is spectacular looking, so there’s that going for it.

And does anyone know how the show is doing rating wise?
The poster above is correct, Tyler Posey really isn’t even in the series, other than that one episode
Is that true? Posey has less than 10 minutes screentime in the whole show but from the interviews and promo he did one would think his character was nearly as important as the main character lol. I guess people were right about him just using the LGBT topic to get the most attention possible. Again.

Episode four opens with Ford jerking off. I want to bury my face in Beau's pits.

R554 SAME
by Anonymous | reply 556 | March 23, 2019 4:12 PM |
tyler posey definitely is just a guest role in this show but i dont agree with the other poster stating that posey is trying to get lgbt attention
i mean it pretty obvious to me why he, ford, and avan were the focal points for the promo (though i wouldnt say he had the most press at all) they have all had leaks and this show was heavily promoted as being super sexual and fluid. they got to be aware that was hyping fans of them
and while he is not even a c list actor Tyler has the most social media followers by a large degree compared to the regular cast members, makes sense they want to pimp out one of the more recognizable names of the cast

I just binged the final episodes. If I didn't find Beau extremely hot, I wouldn't have bothered. The show makes no sense whatsoever. total waste of time.
by Anonymous | reply 558 | March 24, 2019 2:06 AM |
I don’t know why he is so shady to current gay/ queer film makers. And dismissive of bohemian rhapsody; when it was directed by a fellow bi man
by Anonymous | reply 559 | March 24, 2019 2:48 AM |
R554 Bet there's a thick nest down south too.
by Anonymous | reply 560 | March 24, 2019 3:08 AM |
It took me the final episode to realize that the neighbor Severin masturbates with is played by Johnathon Schaech.
I enjoyed the series. The characters are sweet and unpretentious, even when they're being pretentious like Jethro. The music was outstanding. I can't believe there's no resolution to the alien arc.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | March 24, 2019 3:43 AM |
And R561 the alien book author/expert was Henry Rollins, another nice cameo.

R561 What did you enjoy about the series? Genuinely curious.

Just watched the whole season and it was a major disappointment. I had a feeling it was going to be bad by the pilot but figured that pilots are usually bad and represent the whole show. It only got worse. The worse episode for me was I think 6 when Ulysses and Carly were talking about the wanders of pussy and how more natural it was. To say I was shocked when I heard that would be an understatement especially coming from a creator who identifies as mostly gay. But he’s always pushing fluidity so I should have figured. One the topic of fluidity the main cast are fluid except the one straight man. There’s even a scene where he gets to reaffirm his straightness. So why can a “gay” guy be fluid but not a straight guy? None of the fluidity shit was pushed on any of the straight man. And why are the two gay guys predators?
by Anonymous | reply 566 | March 24, 2019 3:14 PM |
Well that's just beyond disappointing, R566. All valid questions too. Shame.
by Anonymous | reply 567 | March 24, 2019 3:32 PM |
Since IMDB list Tyler Posey as being in all 10 episodes, maybe he shot more scenes, but Araki didn't use them. The straight characters had way more storyline. What if Starz told Araki to cut most of the gay storyline to make it more palatable for straight people?
In episode 10, Ulysses tells his boyfriend his relationship with Gabriel was hot/cold melodrama. In episode 7 Carly ask Ulysses "How are you gonna fuck it up this time" referring to his new relationship with Isaac and he says something about Gabriel disappearing every 5 seconds. Ulysses and Gabriel only had one interaction, and then Gabriel ghosted him, so it doesn't make sense for him to say that..
It's also odd IMDB doesn't credit James Duval or Jonathan Schaech as being on the show. Both were in at least 3 episodes each. Maybe Araki had to shoot more scenes to account for the missing scenes with Gabriel.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | March 24, 2019 5:04 PM |
IMDB is as reliable as wikipedia. Anyone can edit
by Anonymous | reply 569 | March 24, 2019 5:25 PM |
It was most likley Posey fans who just put him in into every episode long before the episodes even aired. I very much doubt that Posey shot more scenes and that they were cut. I still have to laugh when I remember that Posey described the show as tasteful in an interview. This show is a lot, but tasteful is surely not a word I would describe it with.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | March 24, 2019 5:46 PM |
They look like boyfriends who share a love of hard drugs and tats.
by Anonymous | reply 571 | March 24, 2019 8:28 PM |
interesting to see how they cover tattoos, i know s lot of people thought they would harm his ability to get roles, but it seems he has chosen roles that embrace them or its not a hard thing to cover up
according to one of the artists he tagged it only took 24 minutes (and that included some face make up too)
by Anonymous | reply 573 | March 25, 2019 2:05 AM |
Can't believe I actually watched all ten episodes of this crap. What utter horseshit and that last episode is maybe the worst-written piece of television I have ever seen. "We were chaos - hot & cold melodrama." Um, what the what now? We literally saw Posey in the first episode only and then you ghosted his ass for some reason and dreamt about him. Or have I missed an episode or two? We also saw maybe five minutes of them making that web series and suddenly it's a huge success?
Do not get me started on lecturing the audience about gay guys getting a hankering for pussy occasionally, Araki railing against the concept of verbal consent like it's some fascist invention, trying to pass off watersports as a shocking kink, or playing the alien anal rape at the end like a joke. How did this get renewed?
Things I enjoyed - Beau's bod, RJ Mitte (Walter Jr. from Breaking Bad is a hottie now!), one clever joke that I've already forgotten, some of the lighting, and Jogia's hairy pits and just his body in general. Also his performance is pretty great. Aside from that, this is an awful, awful series.

R575 lol the thrusts are out of synch. Terrible acting
by Anonymous | reply 576 | March 25, 2019 3:50 AM |
R573 I don't think Jeff Davis was too thrilled when Posey added more tattoos during Teen Wolf. I thought it might make getting other roles a bit more difficult to get in the future.
R575 God bless you!

I just finished watching the entire series and found Jogia's character very likable and engaging. Of course, it helps that the actor is so easy on the eyes.

R578 I can't believe he cut that gorgeous hair

Did anyone else feel weird where they kept telling us that RJ’s character had Cerial Palsy? I feel like if going it going to get mentioned then it should have been by him.

HOW AND WHERE DID YOU WATCH THE WHOLE SEASON? Some of us don't have cable and can't seem to get it...
by Anonymous | reply 582 | March 26, 2019 12:27 AM |
Do the Starz App (or Starz channel on Amazon if you already have Prime). They offer a free 7 day trial.
Binge the show, cancel before 7 days. It is actually quite easy to see the show legally and for free.

I just finished the season, I liked it fine enough and hope the renewal rumors are accurate.

This bugged me as well. The "gay" character and "straight" girl characters are shown as being of course humans can be sexually fluid, but with our straight male character it is reinforced that well he is straight and you can't expect a straight guy to ever be not straight. It just sticks out like a sore thumb given the vibe of the show.
I enjoyed the series. The characters are sweet and unpretentious, even when they're being pretentious like Jethro.
I agree that Uly, Carly, Ford and Jethro were all watchable characters that I started getting invested in. Severine continued to be an awful part of the main cast and that actress should have no gotten that role.
I will say I thought Avan Jogia and Jacob Artist had a very easy believable chemistry in their scenes, enough so that Jacob Artist actually made me wonder about his sexuality because he seemed very comfortable in the role. Frankly they were more believable than Avan Jogia and Tyler Posey were, personally I felt like I was watching actors try to be gay there.

I thought that was handled very naturally. They meet him and discuss it amongst themselves afterwards, that's generally how those things work, people don't want to confront the person about it. And it was treated as a minor detail about the character, which was nice.

Araki likes his straight boys straight - he fetishizes them...His other male characters have been bisexual or ambiguous - Gay guys have been mostly absent from his work so take from that what you will...

Jacob Artist was HAF in his Glee days but looks weird and overly aged (he's only 26) in this. His hair especially looks like shit.

R590 the hair ain't helping.

If anyone here is going to get the Starz 7-day free trial, I suggest you bingewatch American Gods or even Spartacus instead. Spartacus has lots of sex and nudity but at least it has a substance to it. This show does not, utter waste of time, if you ask me.
by Anonymous | reply 592 | March 26, 2019 9:50 AM |
R592 I already started American gods.
I will say I thought Avan Jogia and Jacob Artist had a very easy believable chemistry in their scenes, enough so that Jacob Artist actually made me wonder about his sexuality because he seemed very comfortable in the role.
Wait, so Jacob Artist isn't gay either? Are there [italic]any[/italic] fucking gay actors in this show at all?! Am I the only one who finds it beyond the pale that only straight guys got employment opportunities in a show that was marketed as ostensibly gay/queer? Araki is a self-hating homo if I ever saw one.
Aside from that kiss between Beau and Avan in the first episode, every other kiss between two guys was that familiar closed kiss you see straight actors do when they're playing gay roles. Blech.

Tyler Posey lied and said he'd be naked in it
by Anonymous | reply 596 | March 26, 2019 3:33 PM |
R595 it would be progressives to hire some gay actors buyback progressive isn’t not really hetero worshipper Aracki’s thing.
by Anonymous | reply 597 | March 26, 2019 4:34 PM |
Why wasn’t Beau’s character fluid like the rest of them? It was weird how it was reinforced that he was straight.
