I'm totally out of my daddy fetish now thanks to poor hygiene I've found with older gay men. I'm talking 50 and over. Every older gentlemen I've hooked up with has stunk, and they've all been well to do and I've hooked up in gay-friendly areas. Are older gay men just as lazy as straight men?
Do Older Gay Men Get Just As Lazy With Their Hygiene As Straight Men?

For a variety of reasons, the elderly do not like to bathe or shower. I have an older male friend in his 70s who thinks because he swims 2 or 3 times a week that counts as bathing. I have news for him - NO IT DOES NOT.
Sometimes it's fear of falling, mostly it's just laziness.

I haven't noticed old man smell on guys in their 50's. Not at all.

There is a gay subculture that eschews deodorant and bathing. Regardless of age.

It's definitely true for me and I'm not proud of it. When I was younger i was fastidious about my personal hygiene. Minimum of one shower every day, then I'd change into clean underwear and socks after i finished. Now being 56 i can go a long time between bathing sessions. I also brushed and flossed my teeth twice daily before but now I I'm down to just once a day.

Sounds like depression R4

GROSS! It's either laziness or depression. There are no other choices. Literally. It's not a cultural thing, for fuck's sake.

Maybe because they aren't thinking there is a chance to get laid. One should always be ready. You never know what they day may bring.

No, all gay men suck at personal hygiene.

I agree with R3. It’s not an age thing. Some guys just don’t care. I’m 55 and I’m more fastidious now about showering and hygiene than I was in my 20s. Diet plays a big part in body smells too.
I’ve had the same experience as you, OP, but in reverse: younger guys who go days without bathing and think they can cover it up with Axe body sprays. Barf.

As a retiree, I now shower/shave about 2 times a week. I wear the same clothes 3/4 days in a row. I still brush/floss my teeth twice a day.
This schedule will change if I have social engagements. Also, when I visit friends/relatives out of town, I shower daily.
As long as one is not doing anything physically strenuous and not coming in contact in contact with anyone, why bother?

God, no.

58 here and I still shower twice a day and brush and floss my teeth in the morning and evening. Clean fresh underwear and socks everyday. The only dirty clothing I rewear are gym things, because who cares if they get a little sweaty.

For many older generations, especially those who grew up in Europe showering/bathing regularly was simply not custom. The majority of these men would be 65+ though, I don't know how far your daddy fetish went, OP.

People who don't bathe more than a few times a week? How disgusting. I can see if one has a medical skin condition or is recovering from an illness but....if the reason is "why bother????" Your asses must be portals to hell. Walking around all day in your own filth is okay with you? How do you not gag yourself? Is it because you cannot smell yourself? Do you live alone? Have no contact with other humans? Because that is sad enough on its own.

I'm 55 - I can't imagine functioning without a long hot shower first thing in the morning - felt and did the same at 15.

My father grew up with no running water in the house so as an adult he was obsessed with hot showers. He took two everyday and would go on and on about how amazing they were and I followed his lead and also showered morning and evening since childhood. I’ve had 3 serious relationships so far and had to remind 2 out of 3 to shower. They were 29 and 41 years old. If we didn’t have plans to go out they wouldn’t shower. My last boyfriend worked out in the evening and if I didn’t ask him to shower he would come in from working out in the garage, rub himself down with the hand towel and go to bed without changing his underwear. Gag. He also never changed sheets or pillow cases. I went home for 5 weeks after my mom had surgery. When I got back there was a yellow/brown sweat stain on his pillow case. So I think it’s more the individual person than age.

R9 - please sent me those Young Turks stinking of man and Axe. Thanks, doll.

It's one thing to shower, be clean and very well groomed. But don't take hot showers 2x a day, you aren't doing your skin favors.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 16, 2019 11:08 AM |
If you workout every day and work in construction you kind of have to take 2 showers a day.

What R10 said. It's not so much age; it has more to do with retirement vs working. If you work a full time job, of course you're going to shower each morning. Otherwise, there's less reason to unless you plan to go out.
