Her dad said publicly many times that he wouldn't be in her life if she was with a woman. It might not seem like much, but it was all happening at once, so I'm sure it was overwhelming. There was scepticism that she was genuinely in love with a woman and criticism of her for not dating a "pretty" woman (aka a woman considered conventionally attractive and feminine in presentation) and she clearly felt all that judgement, given her reaction to Stern's question.
