How'd he make it? He doesn't seem that funny to me.
Eldergays, tell me about Danny Thomas.

His sitcom, "Make Room for Daddy," later renamed "The Danny Thomas Show," had a very long run, from 1953 to 1964. It was no worse than any number of other family sitcoms of the era. One episode introduced Andy Griffith as Sheriff Andy Taylor, in a sort of back-door pilot. There was an effort to reboot the series in 1970 as "Make Room for Granddaddy," but it didn't last.

There was a very funny episode of "The Lucy/Desi Comedy Hour" (the one-hour specials that the I Love Lucy cast did when ILL ended) where the cast of I Love Lucy met the cast of Make Room For Daddy. Danny versus Lucy was hilarious.

Danny Thomas did a lounge act in an old Jack Benny show skit and he seemed pretty good at it.

Thomas also starred in the first remake of "The Jazz Singer," co-starring Peggy Lee. The second remake, of course, starred Neil Diamond Lucie Arnaz. With Laurence "I heff no son!" Olivier as Diamond's father.
