Kennedy is sometimes incorrectly referred to as: "Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg", but she did not change her name at the time she married.[1][2] Kennedy has three children: Rose Kennedy Schlossberg (born 1988), Tatiana Celia Kennedy Schlossberg (born 1990), and John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg, known as Jack (born 1993).

I think she's probably just enjoying her lovely life. She was certainly raised by mother who wasn't urging her kids to go out and be in the press.

Caroline's in her early 60s and her kids are raised. She one of the richest Kennedys around (she's got HER Kennedy money - which she only had to split with one sibling, rather than say 10 others like Bobby's kids - plus her 1/2 of her Mom's Onassis money, plus her 1/2 of the "Buy Jackie O's Used-Kleenex-and-Kitchen-Sponges" Sotheby's Auction, PLUS, as his only heir, -- her brother John's Kennedy money, PLUS John's half of Mom's Onassis and Sotheby's Auction money.) She may have done better by outliving them than her cousin Maria Shriver did divorcing Arnold.

Pretty much her whole adult life she's lived a lot more privately (following her mother's example) than you'd expect from someone who could have taken up the public, political Kennedy side of her genes. It seems that when Caroline was being put up for appointment to the Senate when Hillary quit to be Sec of State, she withdrew once she realized how much public info she'd have to release. I'm sure she enjoyed her more private consolation prize of getting to spend some easy time as ambassador to Japan.. Now she can just kick back and live the pleasant life of being famed, established, NYC old money. Seems ideal to me.

I didn’t realize Caroline Kennedy wasn’t there. That is really odd—she’s been to every one of them pretty much. She’s also been to the funerals, including Barbara Bush’s earlier this year. Could be family illness or trouble. The event is publicized way in advance so I can’t imagine she had a conflict. Something’s definitely up.

A very-facelifted Maria Shriver co-hosted the 4th hour of Today this week, but no mention of cousin Caroline.

Caroline got all the brains and no looks. Her brother was just the opposite.

RFK Jr (no paragon of virtue himself) HATED Ed Schlossberg and resented his nastiness, which he detailed in his diaries, the ones that were stolen and published a few years ago, after his wife committed suicide. Said he was outright mean to the Bessette clan in the immediate aftermath of JFK Jr's fatal plane crash, at a point telling one them "only Kennedys get to speak at this funeral" when they were planning the joint memorial for John and Carolyn. Very snobbish and high on himself if to be believed.

No one needed to see Caroline galumphing onto the elegant Kennedy Center stage wearing some horrid, ill-fitting dress and speaking in an inarticulate monotone that would start the festivities on a death knell once again.

I met Caroline Kennedy at a book sighing. Very nice. Instead of having her sign the usual front page I opened my book to a poem by Jackie.
