Closeted actor Taron Egerton transforms into Sir Elton John

Taron Egerton transforms into Sir Elton John in white feather jacket and THAT bejewelled baseball outfit in newly released pictures from upcoming biopic Rocketman

by Anonymousreply 14804/15/2019

Bohemian Razzie 2

by Anonymousreply 101/04/2019

And, I read that’s is straight-washed. I saw previews and in one scene it looks like Elton is longingly looking at a woman.

by Anonymousreply 201/04/2019

When twinks play fat.

by Anonymousreply 301/04/2019

Who will play Princess Diana?

by Anonymousreply 401/04/2019

He sounds more like Paul Williams. Too throaty.

by Anonymousreply 501/04/2019

Who will play David Furnish?

by Anonymousreply 601/04/2019

R4 Naomi Watts

by Anonymousreply 701/04/2019

Who will play Tanned and Muscled Yacht Boy #11?

by Anonymousreply 801/04/2019

This is going to be an epic flop.

Nobody wants to see anything about Elton John who is one of the most unpleasant people on the planet.

by Anonymousreply 901/04/2019

. . . and managed to look NOTHING LIKE Dame Reg!

by Anonymousreply 1001/04/2019

You should have put Taron Egerton IS Elton John. Have you learned nothing?

Save it for the premier.

by Anonymousreply 1101/04/2019

The word is premiere, Mary R11. A premier is a political head of state.

Have YOU learned nothing?

by Anonymousreply 1201/04/2019

Please bring back Mackenzie Phillips as Kiki Dee

by Anonymousreply 1301/04/2019

Who's playing the lovely Mrs. John?

by Anonymousreply 1401/04/2019
He sounds more like Paul Williams. Too throaty.

Yeah. He sounds great when he sings certain styles like when he sings Van Morrison's "Moondance" at the .59 second mark. He tends to be too effected when he sings.

by Anonymousreply 1701/05/2019

So, Elton didn’t want an out gay actor playing him?

by Anonymousreply 1801/05/2019

Eminem wasn't available.

by Anonymousreply 1901/05/2019

He can really sing

by Anonymousreply 2001/05/2019

Is Elton a proud gay man? Does he think of himself this way?

by Anonymousreply 2101/05/2019

R18 He's not the one who decides the studios don't want out actors for lead roles in big films

by Anonymousreply 2201/05/2019
He's not the one who decides the studios don't want out actors for lead roles in big films

He has a say as he and his husband are producers. The way that Brian May and Roger Taylor had a say in who got cast for "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Initially Elton wanted Tom Hardy who was attached to it for a few years (Elton even gave him one of his costumes). Then either during shooting or right after shooting Kingsman 2, Taron reached out to the director of Rocketman to see if Tom Hardy was still in for the role and if not he wanted to audition for the role. By that time he knew Elton from Kingsman 2, he knew the director because he directed Taron in "Eddie the Eagle" and the executive producer is Matthew Vaughn who directed the Kingsman films. As these things often goes, it is who you know.

by Anonymousreply 2301/06/2019

Can Taron outdo Rami? Who’s better?

by Anonymousreply 2401/06/2019

Rami is a very good actor and overachiever.

Taron is bland and boring.

by Anonymousreply 2501/06/2019

Which straight actor will play the “heteroflexible” George Michael in the George Michael bio?

Taron Egerton "Loved Every Second" of His Sex Scene in Rocketman With Richard Madden

by Anonymousreply 2902/19/2019

I remember Richard Madden making out with the gorgeous Douglas Booth in the Boy George biopic. Can't wait to see him in this sex scene.

by Anonymousreply 3002/19/2019

Taron had to present hole for the part.

by Anonymousreply 3102/19/2019

Elton was Bi!

Um, no he’s gay.

by Anonymousreply 3202/19/2019
Nobody wants to see anything about Elton John who is one of the most unpleasant people on the planet.

That's what I said about Freddie Mercury about a year ago.

by Anonymousreply 3302/19/2019

True. Bohemian Rhapsody is a smash hit

by Anonymousreply 3402/19/2019

Elton John gave Taron Egerton a diamond earring.

by Anonymousreply 3502/19/2019

I love his voice.

by Anonymousreply 3602/19/2019

He’s straight

by Anonymousreply 3702/19/2019
You should have put Taron Egerton IS Elton John. Have you learned nothing?

Yes, because "So-and-so IS so-and-so" hasn't become tiresome in the least.

Who will play Prince Philip and Princess Diana?

Taron Egerton Singing (2018 clips)

by Anonymousreply 4002/19/2019
He’s straight

Hi, Taron at R37!

by Anonymousreply 4102/19/2019

I'll be surprised if he ever breaks out as a huge star. He's very sexy, but he's so short. You can be short and ethnic and be a male star, but it's very hard to be short and WASPy and be a male star. It's do-able, but it's very hard.

by Anonymousreply 4202/19/2019

The actor looks too young and with a full head of hair. I bet the movie will replace the Donald Duck suit with the foxy Robin Hood.

by Anonymousreply 4302/19/2019

Who will play Elton's beard bride Renate Blauel?

by Anonymousreply 4402/19/2019

He's perfect for the role.

by Anonymousreply 4502/19/2019

This looks great. He'll be nominated at the very least.

by Anonymousreply 4602/19/2019

R26 I see sarcasm, but hasn’t it since been established that George was in fact bi? Just preferred relationships to men, not sex.

by Anonymousreply 4702/19/2019

Official trailer.

by Anonymousreply 4802/21/2019

I'm a "straight" man playing an iconic gay man - give me an Oscar please!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 4902/21/2019

r44, see r14, and try to keep up.

by Anonymousreply 5002/21/2019

Please don't give him an Oscar nomination

by Anonymousreply 5102/21/2019

Hmmm...I don’t remember Elton having a big neck mole.

by Anonymousreply 5202/21/2019

They didn't ugly him up enough to convincingly play Elton.

by Anonymousreply 5302/21/2019

Why wouldn’t they just use Elton’s recordings for the songs?

by Anonymousreply 5402/21/2019

Taron performed with Elton at Elton's Oscar party.

by Anonymousreply 5502/25/2019

R54, Exactly!! He sounds nothing like Elton John and I don’t even want to think of him hitting the high notes on Crocodile Rock.

by Anonymousreply 5602/25/2019

r54, I believe Elton (who co-produced the film) wanted Taron, who is a fine singer, the opportunity to interpret his songs his own way. Plus, based on the trailer, I have a feeling this movie is more of a traditional musical, where the songs are performed within the story, not just in the recording studio or on-stage, so the songs would have to have been re-recorded anyway.

Besides, Elton doesn't have the most extraordinary, immediately recognizable voice, the way Freddie Mercury does.

by Anonymousreply 5702/25/2019

Based on the trailer, it doesn't look the film has de-gayed Elton John. Also, Taron has said he and Richard Madden filmed a "hot" sex scene, though whether that makes the final cut remains to be seen.

by Anonymousreply 5802/25/2019

Elton didn’t want an openly gay man to play? Not even an unknown?

by Anonymousreply 5902/25/2019

R57, Are you on crack? Elton John doesn’t have an extraordinary or immediately recognizable voice?

by Anonymousreply 6002/25/2019

Sounds like it's already better than Bohemian Rhapsody

by Anonymousreply 6102/25/2019

So will we get another straight guy winning an Oscar for playing a gay rock star two years in a row?

by Anonymousreply 6202/25/2019

Maybe Taron will come out before the end of the year

by Anonymousreply 6302/25/2019

Rami was not hairy enough for Freddie, and Taron isn't hairy enouh for Reggie.

by Anonymousreply 6402/25/2019

r60, honestly, I don't. I suspect we recognize it simply because his songs are so much a part of the soundtrack of our lives. His talents was in the songwriting and the showmanship; I'm not saying he's a bad singer, he's a very fine singer, but he's not a singer noted for his vocal flourishes, the way Freddie Mercury or Frank Sinatra or Prince were. Having somebody else sing his songs is not criminal.

by Anonymousreply 6502/25/2019

Elton is unpleasant and let's be honest: his life is mostly boring. Dreary lower middle class upbringing of the kind nearly everyone had in post-war UK, with many events early in his career sort of happening around him instead of to him. His drug use reportedly turned him into a big whiny baby instead of an interesting hardcore kind of guy, so that's not particularly fruitful cinematic material either.

Much more interesting are the petty things he did to try to one-up David Bowie and other stars of the day, but I doubt they'll get into that.

R44, she's played by newcomer Celinde Schoenmaker, who hasn't been in anything else before.

by Anonymousreply 6602/25/2019

Here we go again...
Bare cheeks:⁦⁦@ParamountPics⁩ & filmmakers behind ⁦@eltonofficial⁩ film ⁦@rocketmanmovie⁩ having “heated discussions “ over 40 sec nude “cuddle” between ⁦@TaronEgerton⁩ & ⁦@_richardmadden⁩ - studio wants scene cut.

geez, he a tweeker? was on james corden last nite and had the heebie jeebies….sad

by Anonymousreply 6803/22/2019

The problem is that, unlike Freddie, Sir Elton is still among the living. And the touring.

Plus, his one major relationship with a woman wasn't a big part of this gay man's life, as Mary was to FM.

However, as I am a major fan of EJ and not one of FM, I will probably go to see this biopic, whereas I'm skipping "BR."

by Anonymousreply 6903/22/2019

How are they gonna make an Elton john movie accessible to breeders? Are they gonna take his wife he was married to for 2 seconds in he 80s and expand her role?

by Anonymousreply 7003/22/2019

As shown by tweet at r67, the studio is going to straight-wash it so it doesn't offend the breeder audiences.

by Anonymousreply 7103/22/2019

Elton John wished he looked like Taron at any time in his life.

Elton has always had a face for radio. If he hadn’t already been established by the time MTV came around no way would he have the huge career he’s had.

by Anonymousreply 7203/22/2019

Talented, cute... love him!

by Anonymousreply 7303/22/2019

Supposedly he had two major relationships with women, one lady he was engaged to in the 1960s, and Renata.

This looks like a light and fluffy biopic though so I'm not holding my breath for anything revealing.

by Anonymousreply 7403/22/2019

Taron and Richard Madden Carpool Karaoke.

by Anonymousreply 7503/22/2019

Taron and Richard joke about kissing for the film.

by Anonymousreply 7603/22/2019

Yes, two incredibly straight men. *rolls eyes*

by Anonymousreply 7703/22/2019

Too soon.

by Anonymousreply 7803/22/2019

Daily Mail is a tabloid rag, right? So I hope this is horseshit.

If a bunch of prudes deprive me of naked Richard Madden I'm going to be very angry.

by Anonymousreply 7903/23/2019

Maple Drive, a restuarant in BH was the local for Eltons' after Oscar party

I went several times.

That man is a complete asshole and a cunt.

Never meet people you admire. It never, ever works out.

But remember, we all thought the Queen movie was going to tank.

by Anonymousreply 8003/23/2019

Bummer about Sir Elton. I've met a handful of celebrities and most were pretty decent folks. Chief among them Jensen Ackles, who was an absolute sweetheart.

Back on topic: I honestly think Rocketman looks pretty good, and I don't even like musicals.

by Anonymousreply 8103/23/2019

I'm a huge Elton fan. I know he's a cunt, but that's okay. Definitely seeing it.

by Anonymousreply 8203/23/2019

Thank you r82. You put it better than I did.

EJ's talent is without question.

But he's still a rotten, rotten human being.

God help those kids.

by Anonymousreply 8303/23/2019

Yuck, yuck, yuck to all of this. Just yuck.

by Anonymousreply 8403/23/2019
Rocketman, Paramount’s Elton John musical, is expected to be rated R and will include an intimate love scene between Taron Egerton, who plays the English singer, and Richard Madden, who plays John's former manager and lover, John Reid, two sources close to the film tell The Hollywood Reporter.

I guess the studio wanted to get rid of that scene to make the movie PG-13 so it would possibly be as successful as Bohemian Rhapsody.

by Anonymousreply 8503/23/2019

R85 Sounds like they're still in discussions, so that's good, I guess. I trust Hollywood Reporter more than I do Daily Mail.

The sex scene sounds pretty tame, though, for them to be making such a fuss over it. Maybe I'm just used to watching R rated movies more so than PG-13 ones.

by Anonymousreply 8603/23/2019

Yeah, it's still in the editing stage. This from director:
Seeing much speculation about ROCKETMAN!! That’s good! It’s still unfinished so it’s nothing but rumors. It has and always will be the no holds barred, musical fantasy that Paramount and producers passionately support and believe in. See for yourself May 24. Dx x

I'm glad people are speaking up while there's still time, although how much good did that do with BR when reports came out that it was straight-washed? I'm also hearing the R rating is because of the violence and the drug use in addition to the nudity, not just because of the nudity itself.

by Anonymousreply 8703/23/2019

There better be gay sex in the movie

by Anonymousreply 8803/23/2019

*Sorry, that should be [italic]swearing[/italic], not violence.

by Anonymousreply 8903/23/2019

The trailer looks great. Just like BR, the music will drive it.

by Anonymousreply 9003/23/2019

Not advisable when the lead character is a bottom, #88

by Anonymousreply 9103/23/2019

I went to IMDB, mostly to find out about the director's prior directing credits (which are scant). The most surprising thing (to me) is that Bryce Dallas Howard plays Elton's mother.

by Anonymousreply 9203/23/2019
I went to IMDB, mostly to find out about the director's prior directing credits (which are scant).

Dexter is primarily an actor. He completed Bohemian Rhapsody after Bryan Singer's firing and he's friends with director Matthew Vaughn who is "Rocketman"s producer, as well as producer of Fletcher's other film "Eddie the Eagle".

The studio is going for PG13 because it gives them a better chance at making money. There was a large audience of people under 18 who helped make "The Greatest Showman" rake in over 400 million at the box office. The film is going to be more fantastical than Bohemian Rhapsody, it's more like "Moulin Rouge" and "Across the Universe".

by Anonymousreply 9303/23/2019

Is this like Elton's 50th anniversary in showbiz or something? A movie, a book and he says he's semi-retiring (i.e. "farewell tour").

I'll never forgive him for pretending to be straight in the 80s, at the height of AIDS. Was he afraid of decreased record sales?

by Anonymousreply 9403/23/2019

R94 He was also all over Ryan White and respectable children with AIDS, but stayed the fuck away from icky gay men with AIDS

by Anonymousreply 9503/23/2019

I would have preferred that they titled the movie, "Hold Me Closer, Tony Danza," in honor of one of the most mangled and misheard lyric in pop history.

by Anonymousreply 9603/23/2019

better have a shitload of sex and nudity, I was in LA in 1970 when cokey creepy Elton was at ev hwood party, bein an ass hole.

taron simmer down on the adderalll or whatev,,,,ur health will tank if u don't.

by Anonymousreply 9703/23/2019

Taron Egerton and Richard Madden's full Carpool Karaoke is up for now.

by Anonymousreply 9803/24/2019

Thanks for posting that.

by Anonymousreply 9903/24/2019

Hello Taron!!!

by Anonymousreply 10003/25/2019

Jesus, they've been promoting the shit out of this thing and we're still two months away from the release date. They really need this to be a hit.

by Anonymousreply 10103/25/2019

R98 Thanks for the link.

Goddamn, I love Richard's accent.

by Anonymousreply 10203/25/2019
he says he's semi-retiring

He rushed out a press release less than 24 hours after one of his bete noires, Neil Diamond, announced his retirement. Notably, Elton's retirement wasn't actually a retirement.

He's been pissy about Neil ever since Neil got him the first gig at the Troub, but lord knows why. He was jealous of everyone even if there was no reason for it.

by Anonymousreply 10303/26/2019

Wait, is it betes noire? Have I committed an egregious faux pas?

by Anonymousreply 10403/26/2019

R103, Elton is much better and a far bigger star than Neil Diamond.

by Anonymousreply 10503/26/2019

Elton is also one of the most litigious celebrities in the UK. No film about him would get made (a) without him and David as producers and (b) it will be a total whitewash.

by Anonymousreply 10603/26/2019

R106 here again I do hope Taron is gay, he can present hole to me anytime.

There was a notorious photo taken in the 1970s of Elton presenting hole (well with his trousers down anyway) and he had a really hairy ass. A quick look on Google Images turned up nothing. Guess his lawyers got that taken down.

by Anonymousreply 10703/26/2019

Is David Furnish sure he's talking about Elton John?
Taron was perfect,” Furnish says. “When I first met Elton I was quite taken by his masculinity. He’s quite a blokey gay man. You can take him and put him in these costumes, pile up the feathers or the crazy stuff, and it all just kind of lands on him in a very masculine way.

by Anonymousreply 10804/02/2019

R108, that quote LMAO. Elton thinks he’s very straight acting I’ve heard him mention that in a couple of interviews. I’m sure Furnish says things like that to keep him happy.

by Anonymousreply 10904/02/2019

Taron should get an award if he had to be manhandled by Elton to get the part.

by Anonymousreply 11004/02/2019

I first discovered Taron in the very fun Kingsmen movie. He is sexy, super talented, and he can fit in your pocket! Love him, but it's a shame he did that God awful Robin hood movie.

by Anonymousreply 11104/03/2019
Taron was perfect,” Furnish says. “When I first met Elton I was quite taken by his masculinity. He’s quite a blokey gay man.

Oh my God, that's the most deluded thing I've ever read in my life.

Do you think David Furnish really believes this?

by Anonymousreply 11204/03/2019

I do hope this video is available to people outside the UK. Forward to 12 mins 23 for the Elton impression. Or just watch the whole thing - it is fucking hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 11304/04/2019

This film going to flop because of Elton's sexual assault allegation #MeToo

by Anonymousreply 11404/06/2019

link please

by Anonymousreply 11504/06/2019

Oh, fuck you, r114. I'm going to see it June 1 for the first time.

by Anonymousreply 11604/06/2019
I do hope this video is available to people outside the UK. Forward to 12 mins 23 for the Elton impression. Or just watch the whole thing - it is fucking hilarious.

It's a thing that Elton thinks he's that masculine? That's hilarious. I also cracked up over Andrew leaving George but taking Pepsie and Shirlie with him.

by Anonymousreply 11704/06/2019

Tantrums, Part 1

by Anonymousreply 11804/06/2019

There are rumors he's going to come out soon.

by Anonymousreply 11904/06/2019

Is Taron going to win an Oscar for this?

by Anonymousreply 12004/06/2019

If he does come out, he'll move the top of my First Openly Gay Actor to win an Oscar list. My current number one is the sad Ellen Page, followed closely by Sir Ian.

by Anonymousreply 12104/06/2019
There are rumors he's going to come out soon.

In his British GQ profile he talks about being straight and playing gay, how he was upset that people thought he was gay (after posting that a Male friend was cute) not because it's a bad thing but because people acted as if he's gay baiting, he talked about being proud that he and his girlfriend reconciled after a brief split. So if he's "going to come out soon" he has an odd way of going about it.

by Anonymousreply 12204/06/2019

Those rumors are non-existent.

by Anonymousreply 12304/06/2019

This movie looks great. Like a more explicitly gay Bohemian Rhapsody.

by Anonymousreply 12404/07/2019

It's going to be between Joaquin Phoenix and Egerton for the Oscar next year.

by Anonymousreply 12504/10/2019

I just saw Taron on an old Graham Norton show.

Totally charming.

Watch the show on Youtube. If that guy isn't gay than neither am I. Please.

by Anonymousreply 12604/10/2019

r125 Tell us what do you smoke, Taron.

by Anonymousreply 12704/11/2019
If that guy isn't gay than neither am I.

He’s just British. They all seem gay.

by Anonymousreply 12804/11/2019

No, they don't. But Taron does.

by Anonymousreply 12904/11/2019

New still of Egerton and Madden.

by Anonymousreply 13004/15/2019

Really hope they don't "unbitch" John. He's always been a notorious asshole, so I hope they don't try and nice him up.

by Anonymousreply 13104/15/2019

Oh but he’s Bi not gay! He was married and everything like Freddie!

by Anonymousreply 13204/15/2019

R128 He's Welsh.

by Anonymousreply 13304/15/2019

If Taron had been a theater actor and not a movie actor, he would've come out years ago.

by Anonymousreply 13404/15/2019

Wales is part of Great Britain. He's British, not English. Though I can see why Welsh people would just rather be defined as Welsh.

by Anonymousreply 13504/15/2019
Jesus, they've been promoting the shit out of this thing and we're still two months away from the release date. They really need this to be a hit.

Elton has been promoting his biopic film since December last year. One of Britain's biggest department stores (John Lewis) makes hugely popular Christmas ads every year. Elton was the star of this year's ad - but instead of promoting John Lewis or its products, it was basically a promo for Elton's own "Rocketman" biopic movie. The ad showed a kaleidoscope of Elton's life through the decades, including an episode when his mom (apparently?) bought him a piano as a Xmas gift to foster his talent.

However, the department store John Lewis doesn't even sell pianos. So basically it wasn't a store ad, it was an early film promo.

Many Brits were confused and bemused by this.

by Anonymousreply 13604/15/2019
I've met a handful of celebrities and most were pretty decent folks. Chief among them Jensen Ackles, who was an absolute sweetheart.

R81, if you're still with us, tell us more.

by Anonymousreply 13704/15/2019

Everyone I know presumes Taron is gay. Richard is walking around LA with his 25yo out and proud boyfriend. If they both officially come out, it'd be kind of a big deal and would likely garner a lot of press - two OUT gay/bi actors playing gay/bi roles in a major studio feature film isn't something that happens every day.

by Anonymousreply 13804/15/2019

I wonder Mr Egerton feels sheepish knowing the prime reason he was chosen for the role because he has such a wide face?

by Anonymousreply 13904/15/2019
I was in LA in 1970 when cokey creepy Elton was at ev hwood party, bein an ass hole.

R97, how was Elton "creepy"?

And, besides being firmly in the closet doing the AIDS epidemic, what else did Elton do to garner an 'asshole-ish' reputation?

by Anonymousreply 14004/15/2019

Elton deserves respect. Billboard recently anointed him the #1 Billboard Hot 100 Make Artist of all time! Surpassing Elvis. That matters as a statistic you can throw in the ignorant faces of the masses. Gay men matter... always have.

by Anonymousreply 14104/15/2019

What is a "make artist"? I still prefer Elvis. I only know 2 songs by Elton.

by Anonymousreply 14204/15/2019

Who's going to play the hunky bodyguard slaves who have to carry Elton around like Humpty Dumpty everywhere?

by Anonymousreply 14304/15/2019

I doubt Elton’s biopic will reveal a new side to him or any new interesting information. I expect boring whitewashing. And Egerton’s voice is not as good as Elton’s - they should just use Elton’s early recordings.

I would rather watch a biopic about this convoluted quartet of lovers:

“The British Supreme Court ruled that people in England and Wales should not be able to read about the sexual exploits of Elton John’s Canadian husband David Furnish.

Furnish sought a publication BAN in January as the Sun on Sunday was about to publish details of Furnish’s sexual encounters, including a threesome...

Even though the injunction is not valid outside England and Wales, lawyers for John and Furnish tried to remove stories from the Web by filing Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) complaints. The DMCA, though, is intended to protect against infringement of copyright.

Ironically, the attempts by John and Furnish to infringe on press freedoms - which has reportedly cost them an estimated $2 million CAD - turned gossip that likely would have been ignored by mainstream media into a bigger story.”

by Anonymousreply 14404/15/2019

"Wales is part of Great Britain. He's British, not English."

He was born IN ENGLAND

by Anonymousreply 14504/15/2019
He was born IN ENGLAND

He went to primary school in WALES and considers himself Welsh.

by Anonymousreply 14604/15/2019

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Don't you just LOVE clicking on these things on every single site you visit? I know we do! You can thank the EU parliament for making everyone in the world click on these pointless things while changing absolutely nothing. If you are interested you can take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT and we'll set a dreaded cookie to make it go away. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
