Yeah, I agree that last year might have been chalked up to a fluke, but the fact that this year’s telecast also beat past CNN NYE shows when Kathy was co-hosting proves that she wasn’t exactly a big draw. I get that this pisses off some people around here who can’t stand Andy Cohen, but there’s no way around the simple fact that he’s currently more popular than Kathy Griffin.

Not whom you asked, but Kathy has made it very clear that the NYE show is a sore spot for her. She keeps tweeting about it and retweeting people who say they won't watch. So cher choosing to call in to the NYE show as a surprise had to sting since Kathy likes to brag about being friends with her, and went to her opening last week.

I wonder if Kathy's act would have had an organic decline regardless of her political actions. She was at her best in the early 2000's when young celebs were drugged out and being overtly scandalous (Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears).
