Super Dave’s Bob Einstein Dies at 76
“Bob Einstein, the Emmy-winning actor from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and creator of Super Dave Osborne, died Wednesday from cancer.
Bob had recently been diagnosed, and he died at his home in Indian Wells, CA.
He famously played Larry David's pal, Marty Funkhouser, on 'Curb,' but he was a very successful comedy writer before that -- winning Emmy awards for being a writer on "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" back in the '70s and for producing Dick Van Dyke's "Van Dyke and Company."
Bob's character, Super Dave, pulled crazy stunts decades before "Jackass" even existed -- but he would always hilariously fail. Super Dave had his own show on Showtime in the late '80s and early '90s. Bob didn't start out in showbiz -- standing 6'4", he played college hoops at Chapman University and then got into advertising. He was "discovered" in the comedy world by Tom Smothers who saw Bob on a local cable show.
His younger brother is actor and director Albert Brooks. Deadline first reported Bob's passing.”
I’m shocked and saddened by Einstein’s death. I’ve been watching him on tv since he played Super Dave on the Canadian show Bizarre in the 80s. He was hilarious on Letterman’s show and Norm Macdonald’s podcast. I will miss him.

His movie, The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave (2000) had some good gags in it. My favorite being Super Dave and his gang are riding on a bus to Las Vegas and he goes to the front of the bus to speak to the bus driver, who happens to be Ray Charles.

Wasn’t he Larry David’s real life brother ?

He is Albert Brooks brother. Had no idea because Brooks changed his name.
I loved him on Curb. Had leukemia, which is a bitch in adults. I would have guessed lung cancer because I assumed his voice was from smoking.

I loved him on Curb your Enthusiasm. One episode had the great Catherine O'Hara play his disturbed relative "Bam-Bam" She fucks Jeff out of boredom. Classic hysterical TV.

Their father, who performed as "Parkyarkus," was also a star.

Wow - never realized he was brothers with Albert Brooks. He seems like he's about eight Inches taller than Brooks.
Yes, leukemia is a bitch. My great uncle had it, it took no time at all to kill him.

That's it for Curb then. The latest season didn't get the greatest reception, and Funkhouser is one of the most popular characters.

He was married twice and had one child according to IMDB.

A comic genius
His deadpan delivery was priceless in Arrested Development as Larry Middleman

Their father, Harry Einstein, was a Borscht Belt comic who died (literally) during his monologue at a Friar's Roast for Lucy and Desi.

Larry and the group might want to give him and Funkhouser a rousing sendoff.

R22 I read that yesterday. Bob's father Harry was only 54 and collapsed after delivering his monologue of a massive heart attack in 1958. Doctors were in the audience and they did all that they knew how to for the time but couldn't save him.
