Do you use CBD oil?

I recently bought some on a whim because someone I follow was raving about its benefits. I just got it and I’m wondering if any of the homosexuals have had experiences with it.

by Anonymousreply 62May 18, 2019 2:59 PM

Does it have a high smoke point?

by Anonymousreply 1December 31, 2018 10:16 PM

I have seriously been thinking or placing an order with Amazon. I'd like to try CBD oil for my arthritis

by Anonymousreply 2December 31, 2018 10:20 PM

I've been using it for almost a year, and it's great. Helps with my anxiety and a host of other aches and pains. I think it's definitely worth a try.

by Anonymousreply 3December 31, 2018 10:27 PM

A friend treats her old dogs with it; golden retrievers. They have hip problems and stiffen up. She says it helps them.

by Anonymousreply 4December 31, 2018 10:31 PM

Thanks r3 and r4.

R3 how much do you use? Does it make you sleepy if you take it during the day?

R4 does your friend only give it to her dogs or does she take some herself as well?

by Anonymousreply 5December 31, 2018 10:36 PM

R5 - I don't know if she takes it too.

by Anonymousreply 6December 31, 2018 10:43 PM

I like the fact that it's not addictive and you can not overdose.

by Anonymousreply 7December 31, 2018 10:45 PM

I take it twice a day, once in the morning, once in the late afternoon/early evening. It doesn't make me sleepy, but I feel like it relaxes me, in a very subtle way. I take a 1,000 mg each dose. I find that to be most effective. Best of all, it's non-psychoactive and non-habit-forming. You don't have to keep taking more to get the same effect.

by Anonymousreply 8December 31, 2018 10:53 PM

Could have an obecalp effect.

by Anonymousreply 9December 31, 2018 11:00 PM

r7 You can overdose on anything, including water.

by Anonymousreply 10December 31, 2018 11:01 PM

I tried CBD gels a year ago for osteoarthritis pain and they didn't help; I've been taking the straight oil orally for a few weeks, and it doesn't help. It's really expensive and not covered by my plan. I will stop after the bottle is empty. I know it has helped some people with rheumatoid arthritis, so maybe it's worth trying for that. I hope it helps, but the NYT published a skeptical article about CBD last week.

My mom tried the cream for her arthritis and it didn’t do anything. I am taking the oil at night to s;eep better, and it seems to work. Although I’m combining it with Lunesta, after the new year I think I’m going to lessen the lunesta and see if I can get off of it completely.

by Anonymousreply 12December 31, 2018 11:10 PM

I have vaped or on and off for a few years . Mainly for anxiety and sleep . I’ll put some basic flavored glycerin in with it and puff away . Love it .

by Anonymousreply 13December 31, 2018 11:29 PM

For what it's worth, it took several months for the oil to help me, and I had to increase the dosage. It seems to help some people from the get go and others never. I was in the "be patient and it will kick in eventually" group.

by Anonymousreply 14December 31, 2018 11:34 PM

I just got some for my dog. I did a lot of research until I settled on NuLeaf. I'm not expecting a miracle overnight. I know it will take time just as it does for us. They suggested I start at a low dose and gradually increase the dosage. She is afraid of her own shadow, amongst other things, so I am hoping this works.

by Anonymousreply 15January 5, 2019 8:12 PM

My Mom's been taking it for a few months for chronic pain and I must say it has really helped. She takes capsules with a tiny amount of THC, 18:1.

by Anonymousreply 16January 5, 2019 8:30 PM

Any suggestions on which CBD gummies for sleep? I want to get off of Ambien, I'm hoping this will do the trick.

by Anonymousreply 17February 2, 2019 1:00 AM

Amazon has a few different brands but I'm not sure which is good since apparently a lot of the reviews on Amazon can't be trusted?

by Anonymousreply 18February 2, 2019 10:52 AM

I've bought it from Bluebird Botanicals and AON Mother Nature. I switched from Bluebird to AON because I needed a higher potency product. Charlotte's Web is supposedly very good also.

by Anonymousreply 19February 3, 2019 7:35 PM

R5, I give it to my dog for anxiety and it is calming.

by Anonymousreply 20February 3, 2019 8:00 PM

YOU CANNOT BY CBD OIL ON AMAZON! Amazon doesn't allow it. They are selling you hemp oil which does nothing. Here's a very reputable site.

I go to the pot dispensary to buy this oil for my mom. It helps her arthritis. She was against the whole idea of it because she thought she was going to get stoned. 🤣 Now she loves it.

by Anonymousreply 22February 19, 2019 3:11 AM

They sell CBD buds, too.

by Anonymousreply 23February 19, 2019 3:21 AM

How would you use buds?

by Anonymousreply 24February 19, 2019 3:47 AM

R24, smoking it.

by Anonymousreply 25February 19, 2019 4:50 AM

Have never bought buds, btw. Just the CBD oil.

by Anonymousreply 26February 19, 2019 5:42 PM

Nobody else uses it?

by Anonymousreply 27February 19, 2019 8:43 PM

I had a bottle last summer. The first time I tried it, it put me to sleep half an hour later (early afternoon. Slept like a rock and felt all cosy for hours after that) Then all the other times I used it, right until the bottle was empty, it never had any effect at all ever again. By the end I had doubled the dosage, nothing. Very odd.

by Anonymousreply 28February 19, 2019 9:53 PM

Not all CBD oil is created equal and potency and purity are key -- especially if a substitute for sleeping pills. Takes at least 30 days of regular use for it to work effectively

by Anonymousreply 29February 19, 2019 10:05 PM

Have you tried essential oils?

by Anonymousreply 30March 3, 2019 9:28 PM

CBD cures the homosexuals

by Anonymousreply 31March 3, 2019 9:49 PM

I just bought some CBD tincture..I am going to try it tomorrow. Apparently his has a tiny bit of THC in it but the girl at the dispensary said people take it all day and go to work. This could be interesting.

by Anonymousreply 32March 3, 2019 9:52 PM

Is there any actual research to show that CBD oil does anything?

by Anonymousreply 33May 15, 2019 1:41 AM

It's helped my sister's anxiety. Anti depressants didn't because they made her feel impassive.

Everyone's different. My anti depressants work fine for me.

by Anonymousreply 34May 15, 2019 2:00 AM

You should just smoke pot you fucking pussy

by Anonymousreply 35May 15, 2019 2:10 AM

CBD oil is a crock of shit. It doesn’t do anything.

by Anonymousreply 36May 15, 2019 2:15 AM

Didn’t do anything for me except make me $75.00 poorer.

by Anonymousreply 37May 15, 2019 2:27 AM

I use Lord Jones tinctures and sometimes the gummies. I like the tinctures because I can calibrate the dosage. The gummies are all 20mg. I can put the tincture in tea, juice, smoothies, salad dressing. It works for me for several issues. Proven anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. Chills ever so slightly and it does elevate my mood if I’m anxious or pissed. It actually gives me the mild munchies so I think it would be good for anorexia. And I do get sleepy if I take 40mg in one dose. I don’t know if it is a miracle cure but it does a lot for me. And I am a healthcare professional and very skeptical about such things.

by Anonymousreply 38May 15, 2019 3:40 AM

Can you inject it to get more of a rush?

by Anonymousreply 39May 15, 2019 3:43 AM

Also, r21 is correct about buying from Amazon. There are lots of articles on-line about CBD and how it is processed and from what source. Also links to companies who do testing and the most reputable brands. Price is often indicative of quality. Cheap CBD is usually just hemp oil.

by Anonymousreply 40May 15, 2019 3:44 AM

Don’t be daft, r39.

by Anonymousreply 41May 15, 2019 3:45 AM

makes me go pass out and feel groggy the next day

by Anonymousreply 42May 15, 2019 6:57 AM

way too many different options out there

by Anonymousreply 43May 15, 2019 7:07 AM

My fundie cousin in the Deep South told me the dairy processing plant her husband works at is starting to process CBD oil. Husband said everyone is gearing up for eventual federal legalization, and wants to hit the ground running. I was kinda shocked, but my cousin said churches are starting change their tunes, now that $$$ is to be made.

My partner and I have a dog who suffers from with seizures from time to time. When my partner first moved into my house, her didn't tell me. He went to work one day and I had Oreo, 'our' dog (she loves me... Lol). She had a seizure and it scares the hell out of me. I called him at work that he needed to come home. She had crawled under the deck, and I could not get her out. Her seizures sessions would last a couple of hours. So, googling remedy's, dogs that suffer from seizures should not have salt. This means you can't feed her people food such as chicken, ham, etc that contain salt. No crackers, or chips as little treats. We also switched to grain free dog food. Not an expensive brand, just Beneful Grain Free. It was like a miracle. Next to no seizures, and if she does, they last about 5 minutes. Recently, I can't even remember the last time she has had a seizure.

My 87 year old mom kept buying these Pedigree chew sticks, made in unregulated China. If Oreo got one, she would have a seizure practically the next day. I had to fight my mom not to bring them in the house. She says that she gives it to her dog at night in her room, and Oreo can't get to one. However, her sweet little dog hides her treats around the room. Our dog, prone to seizures does go into her room during the day while we are at work and could find one. One day she telling what she thinks is a cute story about how her dog and our Oreo were in her room, and Oreo found one of her hidden treats and ha ha cute Oreo found a a hidden treat. My NIGHTMARE, I tell her. That this is what I worried about. She says, I didn't know that's what you meant. REALLY?? Howeverr, just last month I take her shopping at Walmart, and what do I see in the cart? Pedigree chew sticks. I say 'no!!!!', and she says it's something special she gives between her and her dog, and the yadda yadda there in my room, and she's getting them. And we are in Walmart, like trailer trash, arguing. I emphatically say no way in hell, and how come you can't just give them up, for the good of Oreo?? We have grain free treats. It was ridiculous, and she risks a dog having seizures over her wanting her special treat moment with her dog. I worry that she will buy some on the sly. I will go ballistic.

I have heard CBD oil can minimize seizures in dogs as well, and I would be interested in hearing anyone with a similar situation. I am reluctant to introduce anything new, chemical or otherwise, to Oreo.

I read above some people give it to anxiety ridden dogs. My mom's dog suffers from separation anxiety, and barks and barks when we leave the house. She had other personality ticks, that maybe could be helped with CBD? How much to give a dog? Can you OD on CBD oil?

by Anonymousreply 45May 15, 2019 8:53 AM

Is there any scientific proof or studies that show it does anything?

by Anonymousreply 46May 16, 2019 9:02 PM

How is it as a lube?

by Anonymousreply 47May 16, 2019 9:09 PM

by Anonymousreply 51May 17, 2019 10:16 AM

What's cbd oil? Cbd stands for?

by Anonymousreply 52May 17, 2019 11:17 AM

CBD = cannabidiol - a non psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis. There are over 100 characterized cannabinoids in cannabis. THC is the cannabinoid that has psychoactive properties. CBD is responsible for cannabis being non-toxic, non-addictive properties of cannabis. I have not seen any clinical in-vivo studies, however, there are plenty of non-regulated/controlled studies showing efficacy in several areas from pain relief and relaxation to cancer treatment. A lot of research is being done on different strains, terpenes to be specific, and the different benefits each have. IDK - never used it, but thinking about it as I have some chronic pain and do not want to take traditional meds sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 53May 17, 2019 11:46 AM

It's unregulated, expensive as hell yet you have to take it for several months (i.e. spend hundreds of dollars) before you -might- notice any effect, and you may or may not be getting any CBD in your product. I think it appeals to people who are easily susceptible to placebo effects.

From the NYT article:

[quote] Here, the evidence is not going to make them happy. A 2017 study in JAMA reported that only 26 of 84 samples of CBD oils, tinctures and liquids purchased online contained the amount of CBD claimed on their labels. Eighteen of them contained THC, which could lead to intoxication or impairment in some individuals. And a quarter had less CBD than advertised. The F.D.A. has likewise found many products that did not contain the amount of CBD they were claiming.

by Anonymousreply 54May 17, 2019 11:51 AM

My mother uses CBD tincture (she has colon cancer) and swears it helps with pain/nausea from chemo. That's my only experience with it - through what she tells me.

by Anonymousreply 55May 17, 2019 11:53 AM
