It was beautiful.

by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 28, 2018 6:36 AM |

Pass.
Hard pass.

by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 28, 2018 9:42 PM |
This guy is a pain in the ass to work with, and has a coke problem.
Story time: I'm friends with a very successful producer/songwriter.. Adam showed up three hours late for the first session in a murdered out Bentley, and coked out of his mind. Hung out for 20 minutes and bailed. Didn't show up for the next two scheduled sessions.
Another friend was an engineer in a studio where Adam was recording. Twice in a week the guy would be in the midst of cutting a vocal, take a break to go to the restroom, and not come back for the rest of the day.
His reputation is so bad that most producers and songwriters refuse to work with him directly. They cut the songs, hand them in to A&R and let the label take care of getting the vocal track cut.

R13 You don't have to believe me. I don't care if you don't. I stand by all of this though.
Ask around with people who work in music. They'll tell you the same thing.
It's cool if you find him hot and/or talented. I think he's an unprofessional twat, and so do a lot of other music execs.

His KCH performance was outstanding. He took a mediocre pop song and made it an incredibly moving ballad.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 29, 2018 6:15 AM |
R35. Believe is not a mediocre pop song. It's a great song. Lambert made his rendition of it great as well.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 29, 2018 7:43 AM |
R12, I've never heard of him being unprofessional. He has always been well liked and respected. I wonder if this is a recent thing since his solo career flopped so hard. He really wanted to be a superstar on his own. The Queen gig is just whoring for money. Gotta be depressing, and lonely, to constantly be touring with old straight men.
As to the coke. Hate to say it but I believe it could be true. He has a tendency to gain weight and lacks muscle tone, yet he's slim (now). That's almost impossible without extreme discipline re. diet and exercise.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 29, 2018 8:45 AM |
Has anyone ever turned down these awkward, sappy tributes? Seems like it would be hard to sit there and have to tear up after every song. Everyone watching you to see your reactions.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 29, 2018 8:48 AM |
He dyes his hair, wears makeup to cover his acne scars and has a shitty body. So no, I don't find him hot.
The reason he's not a bigger star is because he's an impersonator. The guy doesn't have his own style.

by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 29, 2018 9:31 AM |
R38, Paul McCartney notified the KCH that he had a previous engagement, a family wedding, and could not be there for the ceremony, so they gave his slot to someone else, I believe Paul Simon, and McCartney was reawarded a couple of years later. One of the stipulations is the honoree must be present.

We saw Lambert close up in a record shop. No make-up and no Photoshop.
He's got Chupa-Chup cheeks like Angela Lansbury.

He's not one of those lucky people who still look good when carrying a little extra weight. Though when thinner he's a bit Muppetish so he can't win.
Great singer and showman though. He was the bright spot in that godawful Rocky Horror remake.

I don't believe one iota of what r12 is selling.
You will recall that Adam sang at the KCH? Weren't the producers worried that he'd be late, coked-up, and otherwise unprofessional, r12, HUH?
Perhaps you are thinking of another singing Adam.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 29, 2018 2:50 PM |
No, r9; Katy Perry is not the topic.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 29, 2018 2:52 PM |
I can’t imagine Brian May would tolerate Adam behaving in an unprofessional manner.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | December 29, 2018 3:02 PM |
Looks like he has serious alcohol bloat. He can no longer contour his face away like he once could, plus his voice is sounding a little ragged. Numerous stories of his drunken behavior in the past, most notably the incident in Finland where he and the then-boyfriend were arrested after a brawl. He's even admitted it. And sorry Glamberts, but he had to address his "diva" behavior during the making of his first album. He's probably perfectly professional around people he wants to impress, and he wanted that Queen gig for a loooong time.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | December 29, 2018 3:54 PM |
"he wanted that Queen gig for a loooong time." —Anonymous r63
Come off it. It was only after Brian and Roger sang WITH Adam (and Kris Allen) on the "Idol" Finale that the idea of such a partnership and tour took root.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 30, 2018 12:09 AM |
R60 I understand you're probably a bit triggered because you're a fan of his. The KCH and Queen gigs he has to be on his best behavior. There are no songwriters or record producers running the show there.
Hell, I've seen Courtney Love on her best behavior many times at high profile events. It doesn't mean she's not a fucking trainwreck.
I think you have to ask yourself why Adam Lambert isn't getting any "A material" from songwriters. Last time he had anything in the top 50 of radio play was 2010. Last time he had anything chart in the US was more than 3 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 31, 2018 3:06 AM |
He's not getting A material because his appeal is quite limited.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 31, 2018 6:25 AM |
I'm probably in the minority here, but I did not care for that cover. He took an up-tempo empowerment song and turned it into a Sam Smith self-pity downer ballad.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | December 31, 2018 7:24 AM |
^ Why do so many wealthy teen millennials in show biz try and sing so many 'self-pity downer ballads'.
Why do so many wealthy whity teen millennials try to sing the blues. Only peasant cotton-fieldworkers have the right to sing the blues?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | December 31, 2018 7:32 AM |
I’ve never understood his look or style but I find him much more likable now that he’s given up on becoming famous and is content to be D list. He’s talented and can be funny but when he first came off Idol he had a massive chip on his shoulder and thought way too much of himself. The pressure is off now that he’s too old to make it in pop and it’s made him more tolerable. Still don’t understand his style or find him attractive but it must be bewildering for him to see the ease young musicians like Troye or Sam Smith have with being out. Wasn’t so easy for Lambert who is queeny yes but no more so than Sam Smith.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | January 5, 2019 8:37 PM |

I’ve seen many documentaries about Freddie, but this is my fav!!! Interviews w his gay friends and lovers- this taught me so much about him. It’s a good laugh! (It’s broken up into 6 parts)
by Anonymous | reply 87 | January 13, 2019 2:51 PM |
I like Adam. He's spectacularly talented, he has a nice personality, and he is out and proud and not at all self conscious. I really admired him for fighting the American Idol producers about his gayness. They wanted him to remain closeted and he said No Way. I still believe he could have won AI I mean who the hell remembers the guy who won that year?
by Anonymous | reply 88 | January 13, 2019 3:28 PM |
I watched his version of Believe and I loved it! He’s very talented but he will never have a great career. Now that he’s aged out of any potential for a pop career he should start singing more ballads. Or just enjoy his money and be ok with not being a big star. Even people like Katy Perry can’t have a big career anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | January 14, 2019 1:01 PM |
It depends on what you mean by a "big career". There are superstars and everyone else. Kris Allen, who won over Adam made a few million the first couple of years, and tours regularly still. He makes $300k ish a year- not bad for doing what you love anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | January 15, 2019 1:32 AM |

Kris Allen is playing county fairs and D-list casinos, not touring with Brian May or getting standing ovations on nationally televised galas (much less even on the shortlist for getting booked for said galas). He is why Fox eventually dumped the show. Genuine talents were routinely being beaten by milquetoast, nonthreatening country pop mediocrities who are now earning their livings playing F-list venues. It's the same phenomenon that just may have been the last nail in Dancing With The Stars coffin. Competitive reality show voting is completely dominated by middle aged, conservative Southern fraus and their daughters. But at least Kris was somewhat fuckable - most of the other mid to late era winners couldn't even claim that.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | January 15, 2019 2:53 AM |
I loved watching Adam and the little Kris fellow performing with Queen at the Grand Finale show. That was my last AI season. I quit watching it after them. That show catered to the Religious Right. They were very homophobic back in the day.Very cautious. I mean. OK he's an asshole now, but remember Clay Aiken. Now he had a voice like an angel and was tailor made for a Broadway musical career, and he lost. Ruben, the Luther Vandross Wannabe, won and WEHT to him anyway?
by Anonymous | reply 92 | January 15, 2019 2:59 AM |
WEHT to most of them? Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Adam (also perhaps, quite astonishingly, Kelly Pickler) are the only AI alumni who have careers that do involve singing in low rent rural casinos and charging for autographs at their meet & greets in the lobby. A few early runners-up like Clay & Justin had a few good years near the B-List as well, but the overwhelming majority of AI winners and finalists have been a complete bust.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | January 15, 2019 3:14 AM |
R94 did you mean to write "do NOT involve"? If so, you should add Chris Daughtry to your list of legit, sustained successes from the show.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | January 15, 2019 3:25 AM |
Like I said previously, who wouldn't settle for Kris' career? He's worth several million dollars, paid for nice house and only in his early 30s. So what if he plays fairs? Better than being a shop bottom.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | January 15, 2019 3:44 AM |
Yep r94 I missed a word. And I would hardly add Daughtry to to the Underwood/Clarkson/Hudson (or even Lambert) class, even though I voted for him to win. As a matter of fact, your post was the first time he's crossed my radar in the better part of a decade.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | January 15, 2019 3:45 AM |
R92, Fox hardly cancelled the show because of Kris- it went on 8 more years. Please don't post about what you don't know.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | January 15, 2019 4:03 AM |
Daughtry hasn't quit touring since AI. He may not be on your radars, but he works non-stop.
