Andrew Ridgeley

He's str8, right?

by Anonymousreply 12December 28, 2018 1:39 AM

I don't know her.

Which one is he again?

by Anonymousreply 2December 27, 2018 8:43 PM

Yes, he married one of the singers in Bananarama, and they've been married for decades. He continued to be friends with George through the end, even participating in a documentary George produced about his own life.

The real question about Andrew is: what were his contributions to Wham's music? Whenever I hear a Wham song, I only hear George's voice? Did they mix Andrew's voice low in the background vocals? Did they even record him singing at all? Did he play any instruments on the recordings? It was rumored that when he took a guitar onstage with him, the guitar wasn't even plugged in.

George also came out to Andrew very early on, and Andrew protected his secret.

I think they split up last year

by Anonymousreply 5December 27, 2018 8:49 PM

Andrew was never married. They lived together up until last year.

Both George and Andrew seemed to have commitment issues to contracts.

In response to R3: I think George and he were childhood friends and even though Wham was 95% George's operation, he always insisted on giving Andrew his credit. Also, he helped George greatly to overcome his stage anxiety and fear of performing when they started out.

Andrew did attempt to launch a solo career back in 1990 and I recall MTV Europe having this on their heavy rotation playlist for a short while but the whole project was such a massive dud that he never attempted another solo record.

I feel his pain.

And every Christmas he gets some of those sweet “Last Christmas” royalties.

by Anonymousreply 10December 27, 2018 9:23 PM

Wait, would Andrew still get a royalty check for Last Christmas, since George was the only writer?

by Anonymousreply 11December 27, 2018 9:37 PM

Wham! donated all of their "Last Christmas/Everything She Wants" royalties to the Ethiopian famine. Did George donate the royalties to “Last Christmas” for one year only? Or forever?

Only George Michael wrote “Last Christmas”. Andrew didn’t get any credit for that particular song.
